If you enjoy magical bishojo anime then Magical Doremi is an anime for you. While not focusing on bishoujo, Magical Doremi does focus on clumsy elementary school student Harukaze Doremi, who has an affinity for witches (to be more specific, to become one herself). Doremi gets her wish one day when she encounters an actual witch at a magic shop, with Harukae turning Majorika into a small worm like creature (if a witch is revealed to be a witch, they transform into a familia). As punishment for revealing her true form, Majorika decides to turn Harukaze into a full fledge witch in order to transform herself back. As you’d expect, having a ditzy, wishy-washy person such as Doremi for a witch ends up being an amusing series to watch unfold. Already Magical Doremi and Sugar Sugar Rune have the whole magical witch aspect about both of them. They both also share the innocent plot at first, which evolves into a more complex dark plot as the series progresses. Magical Doremi, just as with Sugar Sugar Rune, has a contrasting cast of characters with opposing attitudes between them. While Chocolat is loud and gregarious in Sugar Sugar Rune, Vanilla is more laid-back and shy, refraining from speaking unless spoken to. Doremi is the same way in Magical Doremi, being the outgoing but spacey girl in her group. Her other friend, Fujiwara Hazuki, is the shy but brilliant type, being the more reserved and logical friend in their trio much like Vanilla in Sugar Sugar Rune. Their transfer student friend Seno Aiko is the energetic, friendly, and popular one of their group. If you do decide to watch Magical Doremi and want more of the same thing, there are three (yes, count them three) more series that are sequels to Magical Doremi: Magical Doremi Sharpd, Motto Magical Doremi and Magical Doremi Dokkan.

Shugo Chara! is an anime about Amu Hinamori, an elementary school student who is thought to be the coolest girl in the entire school. The thing is, Amu actually isn’t. She just wants to wear dresses from time to time, be cheerful and happy, and overall just act like a normal girl. So after a night of hopeful wishing to herself, three brightly colored eggs appear beneath her (no joke). They hatch into Guardian Characters, little spirits who are personifications of who Amu truly is on the inside. With the help of these Guardian Characters, Amu will learn how to literally be herself. Already taking one look at Shugo Chara! and you’ll be reminded of the cute atmosphere of Sugar Sugar Rune. From the way girl’s character acts to the little chibi designs of the Guardian Characters are reminiscent of the character design in Sugar Sugar Rune. That also goes for the animation style as well. Similar to Magical Doremi and Sugar Sugar Rune, Shugo Chara!’s story becomes more serious and darker as you progress through the anime (even though it does have to do with eggs and a magical lock known as a Humpty Lock). Unlike Magical Doremi, the love aspect is more in line with Sugar Sugar Rune’s. It’s the more usual “lovey-dovey” kind of relationship. Amu has a major crush for Tadase Hotori, but dances around the topic when with him, gets embarrassed when around him, etc. Humor is still a driving force in this anime, but not as much as Magical Doremi (but it is still pretty funny either way).

Sakura Kinomoto walks into her parent’s library one day to find a mysterious book. After carelessly picking the book up and opening it, Sakura releases all the cards within the mystical book, having only the guardian of the book Kero (or Cerberus, if you want to call him by his full name) to help her. Since Sakura released the cards and all the Clow beasts sealed within them, the Kero gives her the official title of card captor and the mission to capture ALL of the monsters released. Oh yeah, Sakura is a cheerleader too. Known as Cardcaptor Sakura, based on the manga and produced by the legendary CLAMP studio, it’s no wonder this series became a favorite among anime fans. Already Cardcaptor Sakura reminds one more of Pokemon or Dinosaur King than Sugar Sugar Rune, but keep on reading for the similarities. In Sugar Sugar Rune, Chocolat and Vanilla have to collect hearts in order to decide who will become the next queen. Sakura must collect all the released cards so her world isn’t destroyed. Okay, those two don’t have that much in common, but they do involve collecting stuff. And as usual with these types of anime, the usual love interest is also included (she has a crush on her older bro’s friend Yukito). Also, similar to Sugar Sugar Rune’s later half, Cardcaptor Sakura is already action driven from the get go. Don’t believe us? Watch the first episode and you’ll get a sense of the battle’s Sakura will be going through.

This magical girl anime is about a mermaid who can transform into a powerful pop singer! Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch is about princess Lucia Nanami and her cute penguin sidekick Hippo as they try to locate the other mermaid princesses in order to combat the evil water demons. Not only this, but Mermaid Melody also focuses on Lucia’s love, a human boy named Kaito Domoto. Unfortunately, Lucia doesn’t realize the danger she’s in if she confesses her love to a human. What will become of Princess Lucia and Kaito? The only way to find out is to watch Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch! You can obviously tell the shoujo style is present in both Sugar Sugar Rune and Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. Both have characters with large eyes, small faces with pointed chins, and the proportions of the characters themselves. Other similarities between the two include the themes of love and, more importantly, good versus the forces of evil. Such as how Chocolat and Vanilla have to be on the lookout for black hearts in the world, Princess Lucia has to constantly battle with water demons of various sizes and forms in order to keep the world safe. Another similarity between the two anime would be the importance of friendship. Chocolat and Vanilla are best friends, and they would do anything to save the other (this becomes more prevalent near the end of Sugar Sugar Rune). In Mermaid Melody, Lucia wouldn’t be strong enough to defeat the water demons all by herself nor adjust to normal human livelihood, so her friends are necessary in order to keep the world protected and to maintain her daily life.

Yes, an anime about a girl who transform in a magical ballerina! Princess Tutu can be described… exactly as that. Ahiru is a young girl who attends a private dancers’ school in an odd unnamed town. Although Ahiru aims to become one of the top dancers at her school, it’s a bit of a challenge due to her clumsy and spacey behavior. It doesn’t help when she’s destined to save the world by transforming into Princess Tutu, a graceful and beautiful ballerina who smites evildoers with her elegant moves. And FYI, Ahiru means duck in the Japanese language, which is what Ahiru truly is: a duck. That may be hard to believe, but it should be expected for a town where a cat is a dance teacher along with an anteater. One would mistake Princess Tutu as something Studio Ghibli would’ve made due to the feeling the anime gives off (talking animals, bizarre world that is the norm for the inhabitants of said world, creepy evil character pulling all the strings, etc), but the strange world is similar to the Witch World in Sugar Sugar Rune, where rules and customs are slightly different than they're in the normal human world. Where it was polite to be loud in the Witch World, it’s normal to have… walking animals as teachers. In Sugar Sugar Rune, Pierre and Rockin’ Robin, who start off as minor characters, play a larger role later in the anime. The same goes for Mytho in Princess Tutu, having a very strong connection to storyteller Drosselmeyer (the creepy old dude in Princess Tutu). And just as with every other anime recommendation mentioned above, Princess Tutu also has to do with love, just as innocent as it is in Sugar Sugar Rune. Overall, Princess Tutu could be described as a more classy and refined version of Sugar Sugar Rune.

This next anime is way more modern than the recent ones on this list. Momona (yes she has no last name) is supposed to be attending her cousin’s wedding in Jewel Land when she is suddenly brought into the Jewel Palace. Specifically chosen by her mentor jewelpet Ruby, a little rabbit creature with red eyes, Momona is one of several candidates in line to become the next Lady Jewel of the land. In order to reach this attain this high title, Momona will have to learn how to act like a proper lady and prove that she is the worthy one out of her other competitors for the job. This is basically a modern day bishoujo anime, and we mean that literally. Her magical transformation device is an iPod, with apps that perform different activities! One can tell they knew their specific audience of today. Lady Jewelpet also has the traditional shoujo aesthetic to it, but in this case, it has the current pop shoujo art style rather than the old Sailor Moon style. It would be hard to explain if one doesn’t compare old animation with newer ones and vice-versa, but basically the shoujo style has evolved to have characters with small heads but large rounded eyes, large and over the top hairstyles, noses represented only by a line or dot, and of course a rounded chin and essentially rounded features. The old style is basically a more pointier and cartoon-ish style, the style that Sugar Sugar Rune is most similar to. You would actually have to compare two images side by side in each style to get the idea. Moving on, Lady Jewelpet has an overall happy and cheerful atmosphere to it. It may be due to the vivid colors and fluid animation, but there never seems to be a dull moment for your eyes on the screen as you watch Lady Jewelpet, just as in Sugar Sugar Rune. The plots are very similar to one another with mild alterations. Chocolat and Vanilla must collect enough hearts in order to be worthy of becoming the next Witch Queen in the Witch world. That sounds an awful lot like Momona’s mission in Lady Jewelpet, which is to become the next Lady Jewel by receiving different etiquette training and quests to prove her worth as a true lady. The romance in this anime is spot on to the romance within Sugar Sugar Rune. Momona doesn’t exactly like nor care for Kaien (at first). The two eventually start to gain feelings for one another as they work together through their various trials and challenges. Sounds like the relationship between Chocolat and Pierre in Sugar Sugar Rune. Any bishoujo anime wouldn't be complete without the eventual dark turn of events within the plot and, as you could guess, Lady Jewelpet also has this intertwined with their storyline as well. If you want a anime with more current themes and animation to it, Lady Jewelpet is the way to go.

Haruka is the stepmother of Shu. She is his caretaker and has an aura of a youth despite being around 30. Whilst at home, Haruka has a playful and light hearted side to her. She maintains a more serious mode, while at work however. Haruka is a Senior Researcher of Genomics which is within the GHQ, the very faction that Shu is rallying against. Despite the differences, Haruka genuinely cares for Shu as though as he is one of her offspring. Haruka’s personality while at home is that of one that is extremely lively and cheerful. After several scenes of action, it is nice to peek into the simpler side of the relationship of her and Shu. Haruka is very lax at home to the point of greeting guests in her night wear. This is completely contrasted while she is at work however. Haruka is dedicated to her work and takes on a focused stance to it. It is amazing how she manages to switch between the two and maintain the level of zeal at the same time.

Gentle and free-spirited are probably the words you would want to use to describe Hare. Hare has been shown to be kind to others numerous times. Not only that, she harbours feelings for Shu as well. She believes that he would one day be a great kind, with reference to a fairy tale she once read. Even her Void has healing properties to represent her passion for rejuvenation. So what makes this character in any way dynamic? Dynamism may not only be restricted to action and energy. In a way, Hare has the same level of passion in motivating her peers. Her ability to stimulate others and provide them with strength alone can be a trait. Hare’s passion and zeal, along with her tenacity is the driving force behind this character. Perhaps we can call it… passive dynamism?

Tsugumi is the hacker for the Funeral Parlour. She has a neko-like appearance. Whereas the rest of the team is out on the frontlines, she is the sole person who supports them on the backend. Tsugumi’s origins are unclear but she was reported to be an orphan. Traumatized by the actions of the GHQ, Tsugumi joins the Funeral Parlour in order to save her home country. Especially in high action sequences, Tsugumi is usually the one dishing out instructions or commands in a spirited manner. Using Aye! and Nay!, her mood matches the frequency of the situation as it is usually heated and exciting. Outside of battles, she is usually cheerful and cheeky. Even if the situation is dire, Tsugumi eliminates the graveness with her upbeat personality. She can be said to be the most enthusiastic support character.

Dan is an American and a GHQ Colonel. He is a stereotypical jock who speaks and acts in a brash manner. However, he is good natured at heart and prefers for his subordinates to be friendly with him. Dan is often irresponsible at work. Often his ideas are often unorthodox to the point of being ludicrous. Dan is a very upbeat man and exudes an aura of confidence. He often tries to show his subordinates that he cares for them by giving them talks but this is often undermined as he is often pushy and assertive. Dan is extremely fervent and passionate for the cause of the GHQ and fights for the better of mankind. He can be hot-headed and aggressive. Despite being a side character, his spirit and passion blows us away every time he appears.

Daryl is a young officer under the GHQ. He is known as “the Butcher” due to his vicious and cruel tendencies. Suspected to have a split personality, he can be playful at times but sadistic when on the battlefield. Daryl’s father is a top commander in the GHQ and Daryl yearned for his approval and acceptance. When his role model was caught having an affair, he felt betrayed and became enraged. Daryl’s dynamism is best displayed when he is piloting an Endlave unit. Even at a young age, he is shown to possess skills that rival many skilled pilots. He even cornered Ayase, another highly skilled pilot on numerous occasions and almost succeeded in killing her. Whilst piloting an Endlave, Daryl is capable of causing mass destruction. His tenacity and somewhat violent tendencies makes it extremely intriguing to watch while on the battlefield.

At the top of the opposing faction is Gai Tsutsugami – the head of Funeral Parlour. Enigmatic as much as he is charismatic, Gai fights for an unknown reason until the later part of the anime. He is apparently the childhood friend of Shu and their relationship is not expanded until the later half of the anime. Gai is extremely intelligent. He is able to concoct complex plans and execute them despite Funeral Parlour being inferior to the massive GHQ. Gai is the front of the Funeral Parlour. He is unlike most leaders who command the battlefield from a distance. Gai jumps straight into the battlefield and fights alongside his members whilst giving out instructions and issuing commands. During high intensity situations, this is very exciting to watch as Gai is able to fight and command at the same time. Since he is extremely charismatic as well, he will leave you very pumped up!

Ayase is the wheelchair bound Endlave pilot for the Funeral Parlour. She does not allow her handicapped status to draw her down. A highly skilled Endlave pilot, Ayase rivals Daryl with her piloting skills. Ayase is also a strong willed individual who puts her all for the cause of the Funeral Parlour. When she developed feelings for Shu, her loyalty and disposition shows itself as she refused to leave Shu alone when the building is collapsing, putting herself at risk as well. One thing you should never do is underestimate Ayase. Her handicapped status only makes her drive even stronger and more impassioned than ever. Ayase fights with the same level of energy as her comrades. As an Endlave pilot, she has a fiery attitude that is overwhelming. Ayase’s dynamism on the field is what makes her Funeral Parlour’s best Endlave pilot!

Cunning and calculative, Makoto is a Major that is related to the GHQ. Makoto pledges allegiance to none and his role in this era is to simply fulfil his own agendas. Makoto also has the ability to manipulate people to get the information he wants. Originally an antagonist, Makoto fought against Shu. After realising the power of Voids, he aids Shu simply to see the beauty of the Voids. Makoto is certainly an unorthodox figure in this anime. In his scenes, he is always shown to be dedicated to accomplishing his goals and targets. Yet however, these goals and targets change so frequently such that Makoto is always striving for something different every time. No matter what his intentions are however, Makoto will always use methods that are so inconceivable – that they strike and awe even his foes. Regardless of his calm and cool exterior, you can sense his drive and motivation in achieving his goals.

An unsociable teen, Shu was quick to break out of his shell after an encountering with Inori. Wielding the Power of the King, Shu carries the future and hope of Japan. Along the way, he encountered many situations which allow him to mature further. At his pinnacle, Shu realises his power and now fights to save everyone even if it means soiling his own hands. At the climax of this whole conflict, Shu was even ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of mankind. The King’s power is that of the ability to draw out the Voids of individuals. This means that Shu possesses the power of every human being. However, his favoured Void is still Inori’s void – a giant sword, so powerful, he can sweep through numerous Endlave’s at once. While originally unconfident, Shu matures and become a dominating force on the battlefield. His newly found drive only gives him new purpose and resolve to protect his ideals fervently.

Inori was first introduced to be an emotionless girl. She is a singer going by the pseudonym of Egoist, a highly popular Internet artiste. Through her meeting with Shu however, she develops her own feelings and found the purpose for her existence. A puppet that was controlled by Gai, Inori soon found her resolve to follow Shu and fight for his ideals. Now, she stands beside him as they try to save the world from the Apocalypse Virus and Mana. So what is so dynamic about this character that she is placed first on this list? Maybe it’s her combat skills, even though she is emotionless from the start, Inori is peerless on the battlefield, being able to singlehandedly wipe out several soldiers from the GHQ. Or it could even be her strong resolve to fight and protect the ideal of another with passion. However, what we feel about this character that makes her so dynamic is her expression. As Egoist, Inori was able to save a few people and captured the hearts of many more. Let’s not forget that in addition to the storyline, the music of Guilty Crown is what made it famous and popular. Where is Inori’s dynamism? It is in her singing, where she is able to fully express herself. With her song, she sung of the sorrows of others and hopes for a better future. Through her song, it is where we find her dynamism, her dedication and her absolute resolve for the world.

The happy couple concept is a normal part of hentai - as you can guess, it's a story about a couple that are in love and happy together rather than just a tryst in the night or something non-consensual. However, truly happy couples don't exist in the NTR genre, or the cheating element wouldn't exist! Thus, we bring you the "happy" couple - a couple that for all intends and purposes seems to be fine, but the reality is that at least one member is having an affair on the side. And usually, just like in real life, there cannot be a happy ending when the truth comes out.

Triangle Blue begins with what seems like a very happy, romantic relationship between Asato and Akane. The two have already been dating for years, and after a tragic accident that nearly kills Akane, they decide to take the next step and finally they are living together. Life is too short not to be happy, after all! Akane is a talented artist and Asato is a writer, and the two begin to talk about even writing a book together! Sounds like a very satisfied relationship, right? Well, it is, until the other guys come into the picture.... Triangle Blue depicts what would be a normal, healthy relationship as its base - and then it adds in the NTR element of another man on the side for Akane. Asato spends the anime loving Akane and believing she loves him back, and that they need nothing else in the world. Little does he know about Akane's affair on the side, leading to a tragic reality in their perfect relationship. Thus, a well-established and strong love is broken by Akane's cheating, making Triangle Blue a true Netorare hentai and something more than just your average love story.

Many of us have been there - you're in a relationship, and wondering if things are really going to work. Are you truly happy? Is your partner what you want? Are they really what you want? And the more serious a relationship gets, the more these questions might come up. The same rules apply in the questioning partner concept, where at least one party has begun to question whether or not their relationship is what they really want. Why does she want to be with him? What is she doing while she's alone? Is she even what he really wants? Meanwhile, there are four women at his new job that are readily available and questioning his loyalty and ability to hold out for Ayumu.... A long distance relationship is possible of course, but for many people it can also lead to a lot of questions. The distance is what leads to Kensuke's questioning in Ore wa Kanojo wo Shinjiteru! and to his eventual affair. Even though he might love Ayumu, he is not able to wait for her or believe that she will wait for him. When there are other women that are easier for him to get to and also willing to have sex with him, he is disloyal to his girlfriend and gives in to his questioning by giving in to those women. And all the while, he is still dating Ayumu! When questioning leads to cheating, a hentai becomes an NTR, and Ore wa Kanojo wo Shinjiteru! is a great example of this.

Real relationships are not all hearts and smiles, and anyone who has been in a serious relationship knows that there will always be hardships and rough times. Things will threaten to tear it apart, and sometimes, they will succeed. In an NTR anime, troubling times between a couple easily set the stage for the cheating to occur. When both parties are uncertain about the future and their relationship is being tested, it's that much easier for someone else to worm their way into the relationship.

That's exactly the situation that Ai finds herself in Kanojo ga Mimai ni Konai Wake, and it drives her to cheat on Seiji rather than just breaking up with him or getting another boyfriend. By showing Ai cheating on Seiji while he is even in the same room, Kanojo ga Mimai ni Konai Wake takes the idea of a cheating partner to a whole new level to satisfy any NTR fan. The troubled relationship has set the stage for an excellent Netorare opportunity.

A knight had to kill her, but he just couldn’t end the life of a baby, so she grew up and was known as Pacifica Casull. Her adopted brother and sister will protect her from the fanatic followers of Mauser. Shannon, her brother, is a skilled swordsman, while Racquel, her sister, is an expert with magic. Together, they will travel to different towns trying to avoid Pacifica getting killed before her 16th birthday. Princesses, Knights, magic, and dragons, what else can you ask for in a Knight Anime? Shannon and Pacifica complement each other perfectly. Pacifica is cute, calm and peaceful, while Shannon is impulsive, brave but wise, a typical hero. It’s also interesting that the enemy is not a villain, but a religion institution. It tells a message about prejudice and fate.

Youtarou Hanafusa is one of the “Knights of the World”, an order which is still active in present time. He has the White Knight Syndrome and he can’t stop himself from helping anyone who is in danger. Wearing a mask and cape and wielding a lance, he walks the streets as “Knight Lancer”. When he saves the young girl named Makio Kidouin, he finds out that she has a lonely life, so he resolves to look after her. He must defend the little girl while trying to protect his secret identity as the “Knight Lancer”. This is a funny story of a young knight who after so many years of training, can’t help saving people. Although he would prefer to be an ordinary guy living an ordinary life, Youtaro was born to be a knight and he just can’t fight it. He belongs to an order which has survived over 900 years. He is the heir of the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad, which once it belonged to his father, the great Knight Shin Hanafusa. His father is a legend within the order and Youtaro feels complex about it. Is funny because a White Knight doesn’t suit in modern Japan, so he is called a pervert many times.

Mendosa is the chief advisor in the Kingdom of Valiente, and he had begun a fierce witch hunting. Many magical knights and their sorcerers have died because of this hunting. Leon Luis is the son of a sorceress and a knight, and he was raised as the heir of the Golden Armor. Mendosa has deposed Prince Alfonso, and now is the ruler of the kingdom. The prince decides to find Leon Luis and the Golden Armor to save his kingdom and protect the people. First of all, the anime is set in a kingdom which resembles Spain during the inquisition. That’s an interesting starting point for a Japanese anime. Leon Luis is a Makai Knight who has inherited special armor to fight the creatures known as Horrors. The story is the story of what it meant to be a knight.

Mage-Knights are humans capable of using magic to create weapons from their souls. Ikki Kurogane is going to a special academy for Mage-Knights, but apparently he has no magic abilities. He is known as the “Failed Knight”, which is the same as being the worst student. Victim of a misunderstanding, he ends up being challenged to a duel with Stella, the best student at the academy and also the princess of the Vermillion Kingdom. The loser must be the winner’s slave for life. The knights in this anime aren’t conventional since they fight with weapons born of their souls. The Blazers (students for Mage-Knights) must show their abilities in the Seven Star Tournament. The winner will earn the condition of Magical Knight. We will follow Ikki’s effort to prove he isn’t worthless, and that the grades don't really matter if you got what is needed. He is a hard worker and he won’t give up, nor in his battle, nor in the love for Stella. Romance is a really big ingredient in this show, but is not forced and you’ll enjoy it.

In the year 320, the Kingdom of Pars is ruled by the formidable King Andragoras and is at war with the neighboring kingdom, the Empire of Lusitania. Arslan is the prince of Pars, but unlike his father, he seems not to have what is needed to be king. Although he is still very young, he must fight his first battle. The king is betrayed and they lose everything. Arslan manages to escape alive, protected by the General Daryun. However, he is meant to be a king, and with the loyal general on his side, he goes on a journey to reclaim the fallen kingdom.
