In a world where survival is the only means to live, Ryouta finds himself in the midst of a game of death, where every choice he makes can either make or break his entire existence. In Btooom!, we see Ryouta being transported from the video game world which he had a passion for, onto a mysterious island filled with killers out for his head, and their own survival. An unknown individual sought out to recreate the ultra violet Btooom, and equipped every player with heavy explosives called BIM. His video game fantasy soon turns into a harsh reality, as he now must use the power of the embedded crystal in his hand, equipped with various tools of his own to not only escape this island, but to stay alive. Ganta is found guilty of a crime he didn't commit and is thrown into the fire to fend for himself. Every minute of his life is tested by random encounters who only have the intention to survive for themselves. Ryouta is in the exact same dilemma where he finds himself in a world where danger lurks around every corner, and he must use extreme caution if he intends to stay alive much longer. The game of life and death haunts them both as they're outnumbered and have limited options to choose from, which force them to use strategy and what ever weapons they find lying around. Ganta and Ryouta are forced to team up with a female lead who also has to keep her neck in tact, so that she can also get out in one piece.

Mirai Nikki follows the turbulent life of Yukiteru who soon discovers that his habit of conversing with imaginary friends through his diary, eventually becomes a fearful reality. As fate would have it, Yukiteru is confronted with a girl named Yuno who he builds a strong attraction to throughout the series. This close relationship however eventually becomes a survival game, where both Yukiteru and Yuno must pursue and take down their enemies, while using their equipped diaries that allow them to assist one another in this fierce battle conducted by God himself. The winner is rewarded with the ultimate power of becoming the ultimate leader of the universe. Yukiteru and Ganta are thrown into a game of survival where the two must rely on sound judgment in order to make it out alive. They're accompanied by a female protagonist who aids in their survival, but also find themselves trapped in the entire game of uncertainty. They're under constant attack by a barrage of enemies who don't have any remorse for them, and only see their death as a means to their own way out. There's a large reward that's given to the winner who manages to survive, which all comes from the sick and twisted mind of a creator who finds satisfaction in their suffering. Each character now must rely solely on what they possess, and use it to the best of their abilities.

Thor and his twin brother, Rai, two strong and determined characters, are cast off to a forsaken planet by unknown masked men after witnessing the suspicious death of their parents. Given only the choice of using a beam knife and a smelly satchel, they explore together in search of civilization on the primarily plant based world. They soon discover the plants have the upper hand and other agendas. Only the strong survive; the ones who throw away their humanity and become the beasts humans once were. What all of these anime have in common is that every character is thrown into the lion's den, and are only given specific items to aid them in their survival. In the case of Rai, he can only rely on a beam knife and satchel while his enemies have an overabundance of tools to use at their disposal. This limitation is what creates the thrill factor of the survival game, since you can only fight your way through every obstacle with what's provided. Ganta and Rai are both placed in a world they both had no place being in due to an unfortunate circumstance they had no control over. The action grows intense in each scene as both characters are put under severe pressure, and have to act fast otherwise it may cost them.

When Kei Kurono is killed without warning, he thus finds himself caught in such a game—a test of his skills, morals, and will to survive. Kei’s life is not his own; his death is spat on and squashed over and over again. He is unable to make much out of his situation since there's a much higher form of control above him. What happens if Kei fails to adhere to the rules? Only the higher power knows of his fate. Just a word of caution: Gantz is not for the weak at heart, but neither is it as simple as it looks. Kei must witness acts of rape, gruesome murders and must come to terms with all of it, while doing his very best to understand why he's here in the first place. Gantz is a popular series in Japan which saw a movie release, showcasing much of what the anime explained. Kei is killed instantly without reason, and now he finds himself racing against time as he must use his skills to survive at all costs. A higher power has all the control over the destiny of each protagonist, and so they can play whatever game they want with them as they please. This sick fantasy is what creates the game of survival, where both Ganta and Kei are constantly pushed to their limits, testing their morals in order to see another day. When the exit seems to be closing in, another extreme test is placed upon them creating even more risk along the way.

Kiritsugu now stands at the center of a deadly game of survival, squaring off against six other fierce competitors, each armed with an ancient familiar, and fueled by unique desires and ideals. Accompanied by his own familiar, Saber, the notorious mercenary soon finds his greatest opponent in Kirei Kotomine, a powerful priest who seeks salvation from the dark void within himself in pursuit of Kiritsugu. Fate/Zero depicts the events of the Fourth Holy Grail War—10 years prior to Fate/stay night. Watch as Kiritsugu must fight his way through a battle royale in which no one is guaranteed to survive. Kiritsugu is an epic character who just embodies a cool looking character, with a supreme will to survive. His life is on the line at every moment, while six other opponents are after him for the same reason; to survive and reclaim their freedom as quickly as possible. Sabre and Kiritsugu must work together much like Ganta and Shiro in order to make it out alive of this epic battle to the death. Each character in the series has had their life stolen from them in an instant, and now they must fight for their right to live which proves to be an extremely difficult and deadly ordeal.

The story starts off Jin Kanzaki, a young man with the ability to transform into a superhuman being known as Zet, and Kouga Amagi, a young man with a strong sense of justice who uses technology to fight as Alphas. The fates of these two men and those around them come together as they fight to protect mankind and destroy monstrous man eating abominations known as Players. Both main protagonists are given very little to survive, while a psychopath holds all the answers to their existence. They must obtain and use any information to destroy the enemy before it's too late. Kouga and Jin work as a team using their superhuman powers to fight off evil, while Ganta and Shiro must do the same while digging deeper to seek out the truth behind all that's transpiring. Their fate relies on their ability to work together under severe pressure, while pinpointing the weak spots of their enemy and eliminating them as swiftly as possible before they become the victims of another survival game. Each time Ganta or Kouga find themselves on the brink of death, their sidekick always comes in to save them but then are both placed under life threatening scenarios. It's always a game of back and forth since there's never a guarantee of making it out alive, despite how skillful you are.

Furfrou is a Poodle Pokemon with thick white coat and black skin. As its fur is very thick, it acts as a guard against physical attacks. Just like a Poodle, the Furfrou can be groomed into various styles. The game offers 9 different styles to trim the Furfrou which are Heart, Pharoah, Star, Diamond, Kabuki, Debutante, Dandy, Matron, and La Reine. And just like a dog, the Furfrou is known for its loyalty towards its owner. Furfrou has a strong defense against physical attacks but it does not have remarkable attacking stats. Aside from that, it also does not have reliable forms of recovery. Well, at least you can have fun changing its fur style at the salon. The main reason why Furfrou is not further down the list is because we love dogs and think they deserve better, even if it is a Pokemon.

Skitty is an adorable, pink Kitten Pokemon with a round face and a round body. Its tail is unique in the sense that it is skinny but bulky at the end with 3 pin-like structures. It can use its sharp growl to scare its opponents but we frankly think it is not effective due to how cute it looks. It is known to be quite silly with its tail-chasing antics that it would get dizzy from it. Skitty appears to be cute filler Pokemon which we do not mind catching to be kept as a collection, but we prefer to use other stronger Pokemon in battles. To evolve Skitty into Delcatty, a Moon Stone is required which is a rare item in the game. The evolvement is not worth it as Delcatty is not a Pokemon with impressive stats. Nonetheless, Skitty is a very charming Pokemon so she deserves some points for that.

Smeargle is a Painter Pokemon so it has an artist’s cap and a tail which resembles a paintbrush. Its paintbrush-like tail oozes with paint and the color of the paint may differ. Its iconic move is Sketch which is used to permanently copy the last move of its opponent. The only moves that it cannot copy are Chatter and Struggle. The paint of Smeargle also functions to mark its territory. While its Sketch ability sounds rather cool, it is actually quite difficult to use it right. Therefore, most of us hardly bother with Smeargle. You may consider us as lousy trainers since we can’t use Smeargle’s Sketch ability to its full potential, but we just don’t consider it worthwhile to have a Pokemon that is difficult to use. Sketch being its only attack move renders it quite useless against many Pokemon.

Zubat is a Bat Pokemon that does not appear to have any eyes or nostrils, so it relies on echolocation for navigation. Zubat has four sharp teeth and lives in caves. The male possesses bigger fangs than the female counterpart. The Zubat is sensitive towards sunlight, upon which when exposed to for a long period of time, would cause burns. However, trained Zubat is shown to have more resistance to daylight. Zubat is the reason why caves are so annoying. It appears so often that even 5 steps seem like a long journey in the cave. Even when our Pokemon are battered and bruised badly, the annoying Zubat would just continue to appear and attack us. Oh My God, just let us navigate our way out of the freaking cave! We don’t want to see you!

Bidoof is a Plump Mouse Pokemon which actually sounds pretty cute. It has a thick, round body with short, stocky legs. The number of tufts on its tail determines the gender, wherein 5 tuffs indicate a male, whereas 3 tufts indicate a female. Bidoof has 2, large protruding teeth which it uses to gnaw on woods and rocks. The constant gnawing is required as its teeth continuously grow. Bidoof passes off as cute until you see it appearing an unlimited number of times. The insane rate of Bidoof appearing in random encounters makes us feel very annoyed by it especially when we are in search of other more useful Pokemon. Just get lost, Bidoof! And please don’t evolve this Pokemon, as it will become a hideous, retarded-looking beaver known as Bibarel.

Magikarp is a Fish Pokemon so it is water-type. The Magikarp is a weak swimmer which renders it unable to fight against the water current, so it usually stays downstream. However, it has strong immunity which enables it to survive highly polluted waters. Moreover, the older Magikarp is able to use its splash ability to jump high enough to scale the mountains. The Magikarp has large vacant eyes which make it appears as if it has got no clue what is going on, and that actually reflects its personality and abilities. The Magikarp is regarded as one of the worst Pokemon in the game as its only move is Splash, which does nothing towards its opponents. It is only until level 15 that it could learn Tackle, which is also pretty lame. Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel for those who are patient with this Pokemon, as it could evolve into the incredible Gyarados.

Dunsparce is a Land Snake Pokemon which has a yellow body with blue-and-cream stripes. It has bird-like wings and a tail that resembles that of a rattlesnake. The wings enable it to float slightly, but it usually burrows in the ground to prevent being detected. The eyes of Dunsparce are always closed, thus revealing its cream-colored eyelids. Dunsparce seems like us when we are in boring classes and try to stay awake with our eyes closed to get some rest. It is probably in this meditative state that Dunsparce manages to keep itself from changing and thus remaining in this form forever without evolving. We heard the Buddha did that and attained Nirvana. So perhaps there is more than meets the eye for Dunsparce, but nope, we ain’t buying it.

Metapod is a Cocoon Pokemon that looks like a chrysalis. It evolves from Caterpie, and after that, it would evolve into Butterfree. It has a steel-hard outer shell which protects it as it undergoes the metamorphosis process. However, its inner body is soft and fragile, so it cannot withstand strong attacks. Metapod can be found dwelling in the forest. Pokemon attacks! And the Metapod would only harden. That’s the only thing the Metapod can do, and it can’t be taught anything else until it evolves into Butterfree. The Metapod would test your patience level as it would be difficult to train it till it reaches the point where it would level up and evolve. And it’s not even cute.

Trubbish is a green trash bag which is a poison-type Pokemon. It has sharp, triangular teeth which look as if they could easily tear the trash bag accidentally and spill out all the garbage. Trubbish emits a disgusting gas that would cause the inhaler to be bedridden for a week. Trubbish is created from waste which undergoes some kind of chemical reaction. We can totally understand the concept of rubbish having the potential to be poisonous but we simply cannot appreciate this Pokemon. People want cute or cool Pokemon in their decks, not a freaking rubbish dump. Little Trubbish is just a small garbage bag, but when it grows up, it would become a bigger and more disgusting pile of garbage called Garbodor. Who wants more trash after undue training? Not us.

Luvdisc is a pink heart-shaped fish-like Pokemon that lives in warm seas. Luvdisc was introduced in Generation III as a water-type Pokemon. The design is simple with just eyes, lips, and cheeks plastered on a pink heart. There is a superstition that couples who meet this Pokemon will have a lasting relationship. As if having a name which befits a sex toy isn’t bad enough, Luvdisc has very lame stats with boring abilities. Luvdisc represents romance, love, and basically every cheesy thing which are useless in the Pokemon world. Besides, it stays in its useless form forever as it does not evolve into anything else.

Humans are categorized by two different species. The most common species who takes up 70% of the population are known as Kakuen or ape-man. Just like its name, they originated from monkeys. They cannot control the visibility of their soul's nor they can see the other souls manifestation. On the other hand, the remaining 30% of the population are called Madararui, or zoo-man, who have the ability to see the manifestation of other people’s soul and can control their own shape. To our protagonist Norio, who has been the target of unwanted attention, must have been in shock when he learned that he is now part of that 30%. Norio used to consider himself an average guy, well, that is, after an accident that awakened his Madararui side. He is an ape-man and zoo-man hybrid in which he falls under the nekomata category. His soul's manifestation is that of a brown cat with white fur around his face, up to his belly. Norio easily lets his emotion get the better of him, but this attitude of his is what makes him fun and appealing.

Mamiya, Sakura has seen ghosts since the time she has been spirited away during her childhood. Now at high school, she unexpectedly uncovers the truth behind her classmate Rokudo, Rinne. He is a human and Shinigami hybrid who guides souls to be reincarnated once again. Rokumon is the black cat that formed a contract with Rinne as his aid and support. Originally, his true master is Rinne’s grandmother, Tomoko, who just fired him. Thankfully, with Rokumon's endless persistence and persuasion, he manages to make a contract with his new master, albeit with the price of taking care of his own expenses. Loyal and lovable, he makes the perfect partner for Rinne. He exhibits three forms that can be quite beneficial to Rinne and to himself. His first form is his a humanoid look that he usually uses, the second one is his full on cat form which he uses to lure people to give him food, and lastly the third form in which he transforms into a big scary demon cat that can be of use, especially for traveling. His actions may look misguided, but this devoted cat boy has nothing but good intentions in mind.

Show by Rock!! Presents a lot of kemonomimi characters where it follows the story of a shy young girl named Hijirikawa, Cyan, who was pulled inside in her favorite rhythm game. In the game, there is a place called Midi city where music rules all things. Just like Cyan who joined the Plasmagica to be the best band in the city, Shingan Crimsonz also aims to be the top band. There are actually two cat boys in the group Shingan Crimsonz. Aion is the lion guitarist of the group while the other one is Rom, who is the leopard drummer of the group. Since they are band mates and is in the same feline family, why not have them both in our 8th place. Aion is one of those characters who likes to strike poses. He looks at himself with high regard and loves any attention that is given to him. Meanwhile, Rom is the most responsible and most persuasive out of the group. Even though he is not the leader of the group by name, he acts as if he is one. Despite him using his fists to talk and convey his feelings, Rom is usually the one who pulls his bandmates back together when they go astray. If you want to see more of them, go check Show by Rock!! Short! which would have been aired by now.

Based on the Otome game with the same name and also loosely based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s adventure in wonderland, comes the very bizarre and confusing world of Heart no Kuni no Alice. Well, in any story that is based on Alice in wonderland, it is expected that it’ll be a bit weird and this show is no exception. The basic plot is not that different from the original. Nevertheless, Quin Rose manages to make it their own by creating its unique colorful world and its characters. Our heroine’s name is Alice, who found herself waking up in a world that is different from what she knows. As she starts her adventure to get back to her own world, she meets different characters that will give her some hint of the purpose why she is in wonderland. One character that Alice meets is Airay, Boris who is based on Cheshire cat. Like its original counterpart, he loves riddles and is quite a mischievous character. What makes him an interesting character is that he loves to create and make weapons. Swords, guns, axes to bombs, you name it, he can make it! Just like any cat, he is laid back, carefree and pursues anything that has piqued his interest.

Much like our selection above, Pandora Hearts also takes the reference on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s adventure in wonderland. Oz who just turned 15 was thrown into the dark place of the Abyss. Now feeling lost in the horrific world of the abyss, his only salvation is to form a contract with a chain named Alice not knowing that he will swirl down in the rabbit hole even more. Do you see the resemblance between Cheshire cat and Airay, Boris from Heart no Kuni no Alice? They are like two peas in a pod, especially since they are based on Carroll’s Cheshire cat. Similar they may be, Pandora’s Cheshire exhibits more of a darker persona. Prior to the beginning of the series, he was Alice’s precious pet cat who once holds the truth from 100 years ago in his bell that was given to him by Alice. Cheshire has a lot of forms in which they all resemble a cat. Towards the intention, he can be very sweet and affectionate but once he sees the displeased intention in something, he will not hesitate to shed blood to wipe away anything that threatens his master’s happiness.

With the dark atmosphere that Hellsing Ultimate gives, a certain werecat character loiters around the series with his cute childlike appearance and fun personality. Yes; we are talking about Schrödinger of Hellsing, who is part of the Millennium Organization and is under the direct command of the Major. He was created by Doc with the purpose of being a spy, messenger, and somewhat a pet cat for the Major, who in turn is quite fond of the cat boy. He was named and referenced after Schrödinger’s cat experiment in that he can be everywhere and nowhere; to simply put when he thinks and believes in that certain mindset, then it will be. It is quite complicated in a way, but this is what makes him one of the omnipotent characters in Hellsing besides Alucard. In spite of being on the villain's side, what is not to like about Schrödinger? Schrödinger is cute, charming, and playful, just what we would expect from such a likable character of the series.

Leo is a celestial spirit that uses magic regulus for combat. He is known as the Lion and is the leader of the 12 golden celestial keys. His story began when he was under the command of a celestial spirit mage named Lilica, Karen. Since his former master has been an abuser to his friend Aries; he made sure to stay on earth, making Karen unable to summon other celestial beings. Leo stated that he will only go back and open the gate with the condition of Karen breaking her contract with him and Aries which Karen immediately refused. Days turned into weeks until Loki finds out that Karen died while being on a mission. Blaming himself for her death, he took up a new identity as Loki and joined the Fairy Tail guild. Loki is your typical playboy who endlessly flirts with girls. However, he is responsible and he can show great concern for his friends. Loki is very loyal to his current master Heartfilia, Lucy and takes any opportunity to make a move on her. In his celestial form, you will see his Lion ears on top of his head with his orange hair, sporting his lion mane.

After finishing his first day at school, Aoyagi, Ritsuka meets an enigmatic man named Agatsuma, Soubi, who claims to be a good friend of his big brother Seimei. Through Soubi, Ritsuka was introduced to the world of spell battles where it must be done by having a sacrifice and a fighter with the same name. The sacrifice is the one who takes the damages and is the master among the two while the fighter, as the name suggests, does the fighting and the servant between the duo. With now having the power to fight, Ritsuka, together with Soubi, search the Septimal Moon to find the truth behind the death of Seimei and the cause of his amnesia. In the world of loveless, everyone is born with cat traits such as cat ears and cat tails; it also symbolizes purity and innocence. The only way for these cat traits to disappear is through sexual intercourse. Aoyagi, Ritsuka is on our list because he still retains his cat boy form. Ritsuka, or loveless, is a 12-year-old boy who displays intelligence and maturity pass his age. Despite this, our little cat boy is shy and naive when it comes to love. He can be cold and frank at times, but with the complexity of his character and the way he approaches tough challenges head on, the show becomes more engaging and entertaining.

Honda, Tohru’s supposedly normal life turns upside down when she finds herself living with Souma, Yuki, together with his uncle Shigure and cousin Kyou. Every day must have been quite an adventure to her, most especially when she learns the secret behind the smash’. Some of the members of the Souma family, with Kyou having a special case, are cursed to transform to their zodiac animal spirit when they are weakened, emotionally distressed, or when they are touched by someone from the opposite sex. It is now up to Tohru to understand each one of them and somehow help them break the curse. As stated earlier, Kyou’s case is special because he is haunted by the spirit of the cat who unfortunately fell in the rat’s trickery and wasn't able to be one of the animals included in the 12 zodiac signs. Kyou’s aggressive and hot head personality stemmed from within to protect himself. Regardless of this, he hides his softer side with only a few people who are able to see it. Since he is a cat boy, he has mannerisms that strongly resembles that of a cat, loving the taste of milk and fish, being startled easily, likes high places and hates being restrained. Furthermore, he is agile and fast. Being a cat, he cannot stop hating on Yuki, who is a rat and therefore a natural enemy of his.

Shugo Chara! tells us the magical adventure of Hinamori, Amu who wishes to show her real self to others. With this wish, three guardian characters were born to help fulfill her dream. She eventually lands a place in the student council (who also has their own Chara) as the joker who can wield the power of the Humpty Lock and cleanse the X-Eggs, as well as, the X-Characters. She eventually meets Ikuto and his Chara Yoru, who are part of an organization named Ester Company. They are in search of the Embryo that grants any wishes, but the process of extracting a Heart’s Egg can lead to the dreams it holds being tainted. These two are together simply because they can also be considered as one entity. After all, Yoru is the embodiment of Ikuto’s desire to be free like a stray cat. Ikuto can change or transform into a cat boy with the help of his Chara, Yoru. Although Yoru is Ikuto’s would be self, both do not essentially have the same personality; well... except for the part that they like teasing people around them. Ikuto has more of a mysterious vibe surrounding him. He is more or less indifferent and is quiet most of the time. Nonetheless, he has a sweet, caring personality who becomes selfless when those who are close to him are in danger. Meanwhile, his sidekick Yoru shows a more selfish playful attitude who loves to say, "nya"! He loves to wander around looking for something to humor himself with or someone to make fun with. Ikuto being our ideal bad boy and Yoru with his abundant charming traits, what more do you need to ask for? They are the perfect cat boy package! nya~

A reserved and classical piano player Kaoru Nishimi had just recently transferred to a Kyushu high school. Due to the constant movement of his family, he lost all hopes of blending and fitting into his new environment. That is until he meets a delinquent named Sentarou Kawabuchi. Sentarou's endless love for the jazz genre piqued Kaoru's interest. Slowly but surely, he started to play the piano for the sake of jazz. With his skills, he realised that he had the power to bring joy to others listening to his music. Sakamachi is a story about the relationships that forms through the power of music. Sakamachi is quite similar to Shigatsu in the way that we see an uninspired musician finding joy in playing his instrument again. Aided by another individual, the characters manage to play music that not only transforms their audience, but themselves as well. Whereas Shigatsu emphasizes love, Sakamichi emphasizes friendship but both uses music as a catalyst for forming relationships. Both music animes taught us that music is the expression of the soul and how through using music, we can understand ourselves better. This is clearly seen when the music in both animes also portrays the emotions of the characters. Definitely a must try if you loved Shigatsu!

Haruki Kitahara's beloved light music club was about to be disbanded. With the dissolvent of the club, so too does his dreams of playing at the stage of the school festival. Powerless and unsure of what to do, Haruki strummed along to a piece named White Album. Little does he know that this piece was about to be the first piece he would ever play. As soon as he does that, an unknown voice began to harmonize and resonate with this guitar. This inspiring, ad hoc performance marks the beginning of Haruki's dreams. Both White Album 2 and Shigatsu use music as a plot device to progress the story as well as the relationship between characters. White Album 2 purely focuses on the romance genre though not as tragic. Both protagonists are also struggling in an aspect in their lives when a female protagonist comes along and changes their outlook on life. OSTs wise, both uses music to express the character's feelings and emotions and eventually, how it harnesses the power to transform individual lives. While not as tragic as Shigatsu, White Album 2 is equally as popular and you should definitely give it a try!

Giftias are android robots that are created to possess human emotions. The downside to this is that they come with a fixed expiry date. Thereafter, all of their memories are wiped clean. Tsukasa Mizugaki had failed his college entrance exams but because of his connections, he manages to secure a job with a corporation that deals with Giftias. Particularly, Tsukasa is assigned to collect Giftias that have lapsed their service time. His partner, Isla also happens to be a Giftias. Both of them will have to come to terms with their feelings for each other before she is finally put to rest. Although Plastic Memories does not use music as a central theme, one of the themes exhibited in Shigatsu is extremely depicted well in Plastic Memories. The theme of tragic love is heavily explored in this anime. Both animes shares the same deep level of character development in order for the concept to be fully realised. Instead of music, the emotion of love is used as the plot device to showcase its transformative effects on a human. Despite being a story of tragic love, the story does have quite a positive ending and effect for the main protagonist similar to Shigatsu.

Kahoko Hino is a student enrolled in one of the most prestigious school. Divided into 2 sections - the Normal Branch which she is in, and the Music Branch. However, Kahoko does not possess any musical knowledge until the appearance of a fairy named Lili. She was bestowed a magical violin that plays directly from her emotions. Due to this encounter, Kahoko became the only Normal student to play in the musical competition organized by the school. Now, she becomes embroiled in a competition amongst fellow competitors and her peers. Kiniro no Corda explores the struggles of being a musician. Likewise in Shigatsu, where its characters are shown to be in internal conflict with their play style, Kiniro emphasizes on the importance of using feelings and emotions to play a piece. The protagonists for both animes also feature a violinist. The romantic aspect was not touched in Kiniro, but the level of music chosen for the anime beautifully complements the story line as well with classical music being the choice and style of music used. A recital is held every year at Shirahamazaka High School for music students to showcase their musical talents. Konatsu Miyamoto was a choir student but because of her performance in the previous year, she had since been barred from taking part in this recital. Earnest and sincere however, she sets up a second choir to pursue her dreams. Konatsu realises that it is harder than she thought. She has to reach the minimum number of students to form a club. Will she be able to find the people she needs and become good enough to sing at the recital this year? Tari Tari is a touching story on how singing in unison has the effect of bringing a group together as well. Once again like Shigatsu, it shows us the transformative effects of music in developing and nurturing ourselves. Wakanai Sakai in Tari Tari also shares the jaded view of music and has since sworn off it. But with circumstances and a little push, she comes back stronger than ever and even more inspiring than ever. Truly, music has become synonymous with the human emotions such that it breaks the boundaries of words. If you loved the effect that music has on the protagonists in Shigatsu, Tari Tari has a similar plot to showcase the effects of music.

Chiaki Shinichi is a perfectionist in the field of music. With his talents, he aims to play amongst the virtuosos in Europe. His life was about to change with his meeting with Noda Megumi - a free spirited pianist who simply can't follow the music sheets. Chiaki is baffled at Megumi's take on music and is appalled by her. However, Chiaki starts to change when he hears her playing every time. The music, although the same piece, sounds and feels different. Is this difference in playing due to skills or can it be something else that makes it sounds magical? He will have all the time to find out as he finds out that Megumi happens to be his neighbour, adding to his chagrin. Nodame does not have the same tragic love concept in Shigatsu. However, it utilizes music to further the blossoming relationship between the two protagonists. We see similar characters like the perfect and pianist and the free-spirited musician that changes the outlook and perspective of music for the former. Similarly, it showcases how injecting emotions into a score transform it into music. Both animes revolve around music and the pieces selected fits the mood perfectly. Nodame like Shigatsu is an inspiration to budding musicians and is a must watch if you love the music genre!

It’s cute, it’s graceful and the Eevee fandom is strong with this one. Espeon is a mono Pokémon, meaning it's only psychic type; you pretty much can't get surprised by its attack pool. What IS surprising about this Pokémon is its speed at 110 and special attack at 130 which accompanied by a favorable nature like timid or modest can actually make it a Pokémon worthy of having around. Another fun detail of this Pokémon is its springiness, the ability Magic Bounce reflects back non-damaging moves making it immune to status changes like Confuse Ray. It can also bounce out its buffs with Baton Pass onto another team member; a move often used after you underestimate its Yawn.

Wobbuffet is the master of trolls in the psychic realm. With a ridiculous amount of HP, the highest of all psychic Pokémon, it can become a nuisance very quickly as an opponent. Other than his HP, all his stats are pretty pathetic and at first glance, his attack pool seems like a joke, as it can only learn 7 attacks of which none of them do any damage. When facing Wobbuffet, you might think of it as a joke because it’ll never harm you for the first couple of rounds but once you get annoyed by it and decide to kill it… that's where he gets scary. With Wobbuffet, you kind of have to become a psychic yourself to predict your opponent's moves. Mirror coat to return double damage if you think they will do a special attack, counter if you suspect it's a physical attack and encore if you think they have forgotten about your Safeguard. If you manage to know how your opponent will react, with a little bit of luck Wobbuffet will make sure your rival dies in the stupidest way possible. Wobbuffet is a great duo Pokémon as it has the ability Shadow Tag, it won't let your trainer switch out, leaving it open to your strong team member for damage while Wobbuffet sits there trolling and feeding off Leftovers. Another dirty trick could be using Quick Claw and Destiny Bond to make sure you deliver the ultimate troll before dying.

Lugia is a really bulky Pokémon, with that hidden ability, Multiscale, receiving only half damage at full HP, this Pokémon is just screaming “I'll be your fortress”. With a base 154 special defense, 130 defense and 110 speed Lugia gets interesting. You can survive several hits while outspeeding many Pokémon to land some strong attacks like Thunder, Psyshock, and Earthquake. On the other hand, that psychic/flying type leaves Lugia vulnerable to not only psychic weaknesses but easy to target vulnerability like rock, electric and ice. Although it's not a water Pokémon, Lugia is known as the ruler of the sea, thus granting him neat water moves like Hydro Pump and Ice Beam that can come in handy in battles. The reason why Lugia isn’t higher in the list is because it doesn't exactly stand out much as a psychic Pokémon as much as a flying type. As a legendary bird, it can combine Roost and Spam Calm Mind for ultimate tanking; it can STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) sweet attacks like Sky Attack or Aeroblast but other than that, as a psychic Pokémon, it just doesn't cut it.

Just like its counterpart Gardevoir, Gallade looks like it came out of a fairy tale. His Mega Evolution -complete with a cape and sword looking arms- completely entitle him as the knight of the psychic type. The convenient mix of psychic/fighting perfectly complements one another as they cancel each other's weaknesses. Fighting cancels his psychic side’s weakness for dark type, and his psychic side cancels out fighting’s weakness to psychic. Gallade in his normal form was already a great Pokémon, with 115 special defense and 125 attack points, but his attack skyrockets in his mega form, granting him the highest attack power of non-legendary psychic Pokémon. His handy dual type makes him able to STAB powerful offensive attacks like Close Combat and Psycho Cut. Even better, thanks to his previous evolutions being a fairy type, he has access to fairy attacks like Dazzling Gleam, perfect for slaying dragons! This knight is the perfect addition to the team if you want to give your opponents a royal flush!

Mew, the pioneer. Although it's the 151st Pokémon in the pokédex, Mew was the first Pokémon ever created, being ‘born’ even before the first Pocket Monsters game. Being the very first comes with perks, in Mew’s case, it has the DNA of all Pokémon, therefore, it can learn ALL the moves in the games (excluding signature moves). In the game, as well as in the anime, Mew is an extremely rare encounter because of its ability to transform into any Pokémon in addition to being able to become invisible. This pure hearted Pokémon isn't only popular in the anime, but it can prove to be quite a useful psychic type in the game. Mew is a mix-and-match Pokémon, with all stats sitting at 100, it can become anything you want; just add items to boost the stat you want, throw in whatever attack you want and you're ready to go. The reason Mew isn't higher in the list is because it’s very rare to legally get, as you can only obtain it through special events that don't happen often. Besides that, it’s very interesting and fun Pokémon to use in championships and Wifi battles because it’s customisable, every trainer can build it up as it wants, for this reason, every Mew you face as a foe will be unique in its own way.

Deoxys is another distinguished Pokémon for its power and ability to change forms. Each form has specific stats that can make it great, either as an agile offensive or tank. Each form he takes makes his appearance change accordingly, matching the stat he’s focusing on. Its attack form, a design not so far from his regular form, both not standing out further than a neat look. Its speed form, with a sharp and slender shape that makes it the fastest Pokémon. And our focus on this list, defense form; this robust looking form grants Deoxys the best defense and special defense of all psychic Pokémon, a shocker for those who seek to defeat your psychic team with strong physical attacks. It’s best to use Deoxys as a tank against practically any Pokémon, as its learn set provides an all around coverage of strong hits against all types. For its incredible speed and resistance, this Pokémon is often confused for a legendary but it’s actually just a mythical Pokémon, a very rare encounter that if you manage to catch, you’ll be able to show off one of the most powerful attacks available for psychic types, Deoxys signature move: Psycho Boost.

Gamefreak made a serious mistake when designating Metagross as a psychic/steel Pokémon, this Pokémon isn’t steel, it's pure freaking tungsten! And you know what’s even better? Its base attack points are just 5 points behind its colossal defense as a Mega, and 5 points over in his regular form, scary! To take down this wall you’ll certainly need more than two good and well trained Pokémon and there’s no way around that. Try to defeat it with your strongest Pokémon and you’ll encounter its jaw-dropping double-edged move, Explosion, the most powerful move in all the games, nothing can survive it. On top of having over 10 STAB moves, powerful attacks like Earthquake, Meteor Mash, and Hammer Arm; it has resistance to 9 types and immunity to poison, wow what a Pokémon! It’s Mega Evolution can be compared or even surpass the power of a legendary Pokémon and the creators know this very well, as they gave it a catch rate of 3 out of 255, making him harder to catch than most Pokémon, just to make things fair!

Abracadabra, Alakazam! There’s no other Pokémon that represents magic better than Alakazam, and by magic, of course, we mean psychic ;) . Alakazam has been bending spoons for 20 years, it’s about time this great sorcerer received the respect that he deserves! Nah, that's not the real reason he makes it so high up on the list, it’s because he’s great! I mean look at that speed and mental power! In his new and improved 5 spooned greatness he stands above all Pokémon having the highest special attack and the highest agility of all psychic types (legendaries not included). So what does Alakazam’s Wonder Room withhold? Surprises! Like Iron Tail without a tail! Attract and Torment, because who doesn’t want that from this old geezer? He can even get Physical with all them punches! Hahaha no, he’s not good with that. Alakazam can turn out terrible in the hands of a bad trainer, as he lacks many things compared to others. Only trainers with Keen Eye can understand how to use him beyond a Psychic spam. Starting off with his newest trick, Dazzling Gleam to keep dragons tamed, proceed to Protect his Modest Nature, a little Psychic or perhaps a Focus Blast if you wanna keep things interesting and finally agitating that trainer who thought would 1 hit KO you with a Crunch, yeah! Disable baby. With powers like these, you can surely use Alakazam to remind rookies to respect their elders.

“Stunning beauty that will sweep you off your feet” is the best way to describe Gardevoir. At first, she was our delicate psychic princess (or prince?); but as her power grew stronger, our princess from the psychic kingdom was crowned Mega Gardevoir, making her a formidable foe. Now wearing a beautiful fairytale gown with 125 special attack and 115 special defense, she becomes a strong queen looking to defend her party. She’s fighting evil with Moonblast, winning love with Draining Kiss, never running from a real fight, she is the one named… ok, i’ll stop, but you get it. With Gardevoir you get both a sweeper and a tank, serving as a real powerhouse with all her strong Fairy moves and DOTs, adding to that defensive skills and special conditions, she becomes daunting foe you’d want to dethrone ASAP. Gardevoir actually has quite the popularity among Pokémon trainers in the anime, being used by over 5 renown trainers throughout the series. She captivated millions with her special shiny sprite in black and most recently amused her followers with her appearance in games like Pokken and Super Smash Bros.

It’s no surprise that Mewtwo would be our top in the list. This Pokémon is not only the best psychic type Pokémon but could also be the best in a legendaries list or maybe even number one in the best Pokémon of all times. Mewtwo has the best Pokémon story: a man-made Pokémon created by altering Mew’s DNA to create the ultimate battle Pokémon… engineered by one of the villain masterminds of the poké-world! But that’s something you guys can watch in the first Pokémon movie. Apart from movies and specials, Mewtwo appears in many Pokémon episodes, mangas, spin-offs and many other games like Pokken, and Super Smash Bros, as well as in the finale of Pokémon Go trailer. This isn’t necessarily the same Mewtwo, as they have mentioned in anime and manga that they have done countless copies and modifications before achieving the ultimate Mewtwo. Mewtwo was already powerful and famous enough in his regular form, but they HAD TO make him even better with not one, but TWO Mega Evolutions and being the first one out of all Pokémon to Mega-evolve was certainly not a disadvantage. Mega Mewtwo X having 80 points added to its attack bonus while in this form, makes him have the highest attack stat of all Pokémon. Mewtwo Y was the first Mega-Evolved Pokémon and has the strongest special attack of all Pokémon and the highest base stat of all psychics, making it probably the strongest version, it was referred to as Mewtwo’s “Awakened Form”.
