Overview

The world of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds can be a truly overwhelming ordeal, especially when you’re in the thick of things and have no idea of what to do. Without a bulletproof gameplan much of your experience will most likely be in the lobby section of the game because you’ll be dying a lot. While dying in the game is certainly a part of the overall experience, dying too much due to careless practice or lack of pivotal information on the battlefield can result in you feeling a lack of motivation to want to continue. Let’s be honest, we all want to win at something whether it be at something as simple as a game of Solitaire, or even the more complex world of Chess. We know how taxing it can be to come into a game unaware of what to do, especially in PUBG where the action is always constant and there’s no room for consistent error. CQC, otherwise known as Close Quarters Combat is a term ubiquitous within the shooting game genre and covers the type of combat which takes place in close range between you and the opponent, or opponents. In this article we’re going to look at a few CQC weapons that we feel will help you score early game kills and also help to develop more confidence for mid to late game. These of course are just a few of the weapons you’ll discover in PUBG, so we encourage you to test out the different tools to see just which one best suits you in each scenario you encounter!

S686 [Shotgun]

The Shotgun category in PUBG is quite menacing and if you end up with any one of the Shotguns in this game, chances are you already have an early lead on the enemy. While any choice of Shotgun will carry you well past the 60 man mark there’s just one that will pretty much secure a kill once you learn to master it, and that’s the S686 otherwise known as the illustrious Double Barrell Shotgun. You’ve most likely seen this gun featured in blockbuster films and of course a plethora of shooters, and for good reason. The S686 is hands down the most powerful Shotgun in PUBG with a base damage of 25, and bullet speed of 375 making it also the fastest in the entire category. While it lacks in ammunition when compared to the other Shotguns it makes up in sheer destructive power, and with only 2 rounds locked in the chamber those shells are only aiming to kill. When we mean speed this gun fires off those 2 rounds in quick succession, leaving your enemy little time to react especially in CQC where a lot of pressure is on. The power is more than enough to destroy a level 2 helmet and level 2 armor clean, and will most likely destroy anyone with level 3 gear as well on the second shell. Equip this gun with Bullet Loops and a Shotgun Choke and it’s pretty much lights out for anyone who stands face to face with the other end of the barrell. Did we also mention that this Shotgun can also kill at mid range? It’s rare for a Shotgun to pull off such a feat with such a spread but the S686 is a rare breed and if you practice well enough your enemy will be red kool aid in no time.

Honey's Pros:

  • Explosive firepower up close.
  • Shots come out in quick succession making it very hard to react to in CQC.
  • Strongest Shotgun in the game.

Honey's Cons:

  • Only comes with 2 rounds so shots must count at all times.

UMP9 [Submachine Gun]

Similar to the Shotgun category there are quite a number of weapons to choose from, but none seem to surpass the effectiveness of the UMP9. This gun is very popular among PUBG elite and even those learning the game because the UMP9 is the quintessential SMG to run around with. It has exceptional firepower up close, can deal mid range damage, and if you’re a god with it this gun can be a mini sniper to clip enemies out in the open. It’s what we’d call a very ‘Beginner Friendly’ weapon (as you’ll read in our beginner’s weapon guide if you haven’t checked it out!) because it helps you to pretty much learn how to aim correctly, and it’s very easy to find in the massive open world of PUBG. Due to its versatility it can be used for just about any scenario you find yourself in, but in CQC this weapon is a force to be reckoned with. Grab this weapon and let your enemies know who the real head honcho is because this gun will tear you up in close range combat. Its base damage is 35 making it the second highest in terms of damage, second only to the Tommy Gun. However, you combine that with the fastest initial bullet speed in its category (400) and you’ve found yourself a swiss cheese maker. Anyone on the opposing side of the UMP9 will need to find cover fast because once you have your aim set on the enemy, they won’t have very far to run. The UMP9 has 3 firing modes to choose from: Single, Burst and Auto, all with their own pros and cons depending on the situation. For starters just keep this gun on auto during CQC and you’ll be taking enemies out in no time. The UMP9 also has a nice assortment of slots (4) to choose from so you tack on a grip, magazines, muzzles and sights to make this gun even more threatening. The downside to this weapon is that while it can do just about everything it’s not necessarily masterful at one thing, but in this case it’s not really an issue if your opponent can’t deal with the insane amount of fire it dishes out.

Honey's Pros:

  • Incredibly fast rate of fire.
  • All around weapon which works in various scenarios.
  • Beginner friendly.
  • 4 slots allow for great customization loadouts.

Honey's Cons:

  • Master of nothing.

R1895 [Pistols]

While the R1895 is listed under the Pistol category in PUBG it’s actually a revolver, which takes the same ammunition as the AKM. For more details about the R1895 check out our beginner’s weapon guide, but for now let’s get straight into the action. The R1895 is hands down the most powerful handgun in PUBG and can be described as a mini Shotgun because the minute you get hit with this, there’s not much left to look at. The range on the gun is a little higher than average and can hit targets from relatively far, but still within a 200 meter radius. It’s no sniper of course but if you aim well enough there’s very little your opponent can do to stop it because this can kill you instantly. The other Pistols have the added benefit of having faster reload times and a large magazine to deal with, along with the P18C (Glock) having the ability to auto fire in CQC. However all the other guns don’t deal a great amount of damage and so it’s not as intimidating as the R1895 that hits you like a truck if you’re too close. 1 or 2 shots should pretty much kill an enemy and if you put the suppressor on it no one will know what hit them. It’s base damage is a whopping 46 which actually ranks higher than the S686 which is the strongest Shotgun in the game, so that should give you enough information. Its bullet speed is only rivaled by the P92 which does 50 more (330 vs 380 respectively) but the body hit impact power is where it truly hurts, at a monstrous 8,000. So once again, if someone tries to be brave and confront you in CQC with the R1895 in hand you can be certain that they’ll be on the floor in seconds, and you can collect the delicious loot from their corpse.

Honey's Pros:

  • Can blow your head clean off in CQC with ease.
  • The best pistol(revolver) in PUBG.
  • Monstrous damage.

Honey's Cons:

  • Very slow reload times so find cover as you reload.
  • A little slow on bullet speed compared to P92.
  • Limited attachment options.

Pan [Melee]

So if you aren’t able to knab one of the big ticket items we mentioned earlier and are running low on options, then it’s best to opt for the best melee weapon in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: The Frying Pan. This tool of destruction will fry just about anyone’s brain, leaving a nice scrambled mess on the floor. Not only can it used to dish out the damage close range but it also acts as a protective device should you find yourself in enemy fire. It’s been labelled the ‘arse protector’ for lack of a better term and it rightly does so. If you’re running away from the enemy and they try to aim for your backside you can be rest assured knowing your butt will take no damage at all. The pan will ricochet any bullet that touches it making it a nice shield and as we said earlier, a couple swings with this thing and the enemy is out cold. This is likely to be your last resort tool should you find yourself lacking in any powerful guns but with there being so many weapons dispersed all around PUBG, you will most likely just use this to protect your arse in the line of fire.

Honey's Pros:

  • Very powerful melee tool that can kill in 1 to 2 hits.
  • Arse protector.

Honey's Cons:

  • It's a little slow to swing so make sure the hit connects.

Honey's Final Verdict:

Of course there’s a lot of weapons to choose from in PUBG and perhaps there will be more additions to come in later patches, but for now these weapons will surely guarantee some early game kills and help you to build confidence going into the the mid-late games. We hope that you found this article to be resourceful as you make your way to the top of the leaderboards, and hopefully grab that nice delicious Chicken Dinner that awaits you. Until then just continue practicing, find the right weapons that suit you best and most importantly, have fun! What Each Zone Means in PUBG

Introduction

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an extremely fun, rewarding and at times frustrating experience, especially when you’re unaware of how things work within the game. Of course weapons are easy to pick up and use, houses seem simple to loot and cars can be taken with you to make the adventure a little safer. However, one integral aspect of PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG) is how zones work. You’ve definitely encountered them while in game and perhaps you’re just not sure how to assess them. Why are they there? What do each color mean? Where should I be located on the map in relation to each zone? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered as we’ll explore into what each zone represents, and what you should be wary of as you move towards them.

The White Zone

The White Zone, otherwise known as the ‘Safe Zone’, is the area on the map that is randomly chosen within the game. Depending on where you land on the island will determine whether you’re safe to wander, or that you’ll need to move quickly in order to reach the Safe Zone in a timely manner. The White Zone covers a great portion of the map and so once you’re within the radius, there’s ample time to gather loot and keep a lookout for any suspicious activity nearby. The timer on the bottom right hand side of the screen indicates just how long it will take before the zone will start shrinking. The game will of course remind you of how much time you have based on intervals of 10 (30, 20, 10, 5), and so that visual reminder will allow you to think through your next plan of action before moving forward. As you progress through towards mid game and eventually into the late game, the White Zone will shrink in size and also move to another section of the map, within the zone’s original radius. The circle will not randomly move from one part of the map to the other end so not to worry, the White Zone will always stay within range for you to reach should you find yourself in a tough situation(just pray you found a good area in the beginning). This brings us to the next zone in the game that plays an integral role in how you can assess your risks, strategize your next objective and most importantly, be on the lookout for other players on the run.

The Blue Zone

Each zone within PlayerUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG) plays a significant role in how you engage with the world. As we mentioned earlier with the White Zone, it’s essentially a spot where players can plan out a strategy and gather the right amount of loot needed to ensure they’re prepared for the next phase. Enemies are scattered all throughout the island and so, pinpointing just where each enemy is on the island is near impossible. However one great benefit about this next zone is that once the clock starts ticking, players will start running and the Blue Zone can work entirely in your favor. The Blue Zone is generally a much bigger circle than that of the White Zone and that’s to give players time to move from one section of the map to the next. In the early game the Blue Zone is much bigger and shrinks at a much slower pace, which will give you ample time to race towards the White Zone if let’s say you were outside of it when you ejected from the plane. Staying between both the White Zone and Blue Zone are very important as the zone starts to shrink and you will not accumulate damage as a result. However once you start to move closer towards mid-end game is when things start to get a little more risky. As we stated earlier you want to be situated either within the White Zone or be situated between both the Blue and White zone, and that’s because as the zone shrinks and you’re outside of either zone you’ll start to lose small chunks of life. Early game life depletion isn’t too urgent to be concerned with but once the zones close in quicker towards end game, there’s less time to make careless decisions as greater health will be taken from you over time. There’s also other factors to consider such as your surroundings and just who’s around you racing towards the White Zone in time to survive, so being very critical of your positioning as you sprint towards safety is imperative to survival. Also, if you’re unaware of where to go the game’s map will provide small dots to indicate where to move next, so always use your map! Another important tip if you find yourself trapped in the Blue Zone, is to make sure you’re well equipped with enough health items to get you through. This brings us to our next point and perhaps a very important one and that’s paying close attention to the Blue Zone circle as it closes in. There will be times when the circle will have more space to move in on one side and look smaller on the other. This is a strategic element that you should use to your advantage and here’s why:

Bigger Blue Area

There are pros and cons to both and the pros of situating yourself in the bigger section of the closing Blue Zone is that, you of course have more space to move around, time to assess risks, and maybe catch another player off guard to remove a threat. The con is that you’re also a target for other players who are frantically trying to take out other opponents and so, there’s a much higher rate of mortality in this regard. In addition, the circle will close in quicker so thinking fast needs to be a priority.

Smaller Blue Area

The smaller end of the Blue Zone will close at a slower rate than that of the more open section. Using this to your advantage could turn the tide of the game almost instantly. This is because unlike the bigger portion, the small section will allow you to move into the White Zone in a safer manner due to the smaller gap between the White and Blue zones. You can use this to shoot down other enemies who may be nearby and still get into the zone without much harm. The con is that because of the limited space you have, there’s little room for error and so you need to be very meticulous about movement since those already in the White Zone may be looking out for you. Ultimately, being in the Blue Zone as it closes poses a risk either way so be sure to practice predicting just where the next Safe Zone will be. You don’t want to be that person racing across an open field in the closing Blue Zone because, there’s a very high chance you’ll be seeing the lobby screen so be mindful of that. Preparation is pivotal to success.

The Red Zone

So now that you have an idea of the two more important zones within PUBG, we’ll get into the final zone that a lot of new players are unaware of or simply don’t know it’s purpose. Red Zones appear randomly on the map and if you find yourself within one, not to worry, if there’s a house nearby then just stay situated inside until the fireworks subside. However if you do find yourself in the Red Zone and there are no houses nearby or a vehicle to get you to safer territory, then just pray to the RNG gods that a bomb doesn’t drop on you. The odds are against you for sure but that doesn’t mean escape isn’t possible. There have been many moments where we came out of the Red Zone unscatched because the bombs decided to spare our souls, but don’t gamble with the dark side because if you do that’s it. All of your hard work to gather all of that wonderful loot is in vain because you decided to be greedy and play with fire. Simply put, stay away from the Red Zone as much as you can and if RNG happens to curse you and places one on top of your hiding spot, then run like the wind.

Bonus Tip

Speaking of greed in PUBG, try to avoid being greedy in this game because it can oftentimes lead you into a dark pit of despair. We’re not saying to avoid it entirely because there are times when it may benefit you, but for the most part try to be very patient and gather only what you need because if let’s say you’re playing in Duo/Squad modes, giving up your valuable possessions to the other team due to greed isn’t the greatest. Practice safe movement, patient progression and cerebral approaches. Most importantly, pay attention to the map!

Final Thoughts

We hope that you found this quick little overview of what each zone means in PUBG to be resourceful, and hopefully can assist you in getting that glorious Chicken Dinner at the end. Remember that in PUBG it’s all about strategy and knowing when the right time to strike is. Always keep that in mind and you’ll be getting top 10’s consistent in no time! Don’t be afraid to take risks but be sure to assess those risks in great detail before moving along with them. Keep an eye out for enemy movement at all times and try to minimize movement to avoid getting shot. Be sure to keep up with Honey’s Anime not only for PUBG related articles but also anime, gaming and all things pertaining to Japan’s sub culture! This is NualphaJPN signing out. Have fun!

“The box may be small, but the energy and contents are definitely HUGE!”

About OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN

OLDCODEX is a Japanese rock band that has been around for about eight years now. The two main people in the band are the lead vocalist, Ta_2, and Yorke, a secondary vocalist who does live graffiti art on the stage to accompany the music. OLDCODEX has been featured doing the opening and ending songs for many anime over the years, including Free!, God Eater, and Kuroko no Basket, helping to give them an international reputation and fans across the world. The OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN Blu-Ray features the final show from the FIXED ENGINE tour across Japan! The tour finale was massive with 26 songs played, and BUDOKAN is a gigantic venue completely full of fans! In addition to the entire concert, the Blu-Ray set also includes a second disc with behind the scenes footage from the rest of the tour!

[ad_top2 class="mt40"]

On the Outside

At first glance, the box for the OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN seems quite small, especially for a limited edition Blu-Ray set. And indeed, it’s only about 20cm x 14cm big, only a little bigger than an average novel. However, the cover art is immediately captivating and suits the band’s image well. It’s full of vibrant colours balanced with solid black in a seemingly random design, with white stencilled lettering at random reading “FIXED ENGINE.” Considering a huge part of what make OLDCODEX unique and special is Yorke’s graffiti-style artwork that he does on stage along with the music, it’s a suiting design reminiscent of his style!

Flipping the box over, there is a track list of all 26 songs that will be featured on the Blu-Ray, as well as the information that the second disc contains bonus material. That text is quite small though because there is a really cool art piece taking up most of the box! Continuing the colour scheme and style from the front cover, the background is mostly black with bold, vibrant rainbow colours serving up a stark contrast. Instead of just splattered at random, this time they are forming the shape of sets of gears and cogs that are all interlocked together. Since the tour is called FIXED ENGINE it only makes sense to have some mechanical-themed art! And of course, that white stencilling used for the letters is back too on some of the gears with the band name and tour name once again. The gears and cogs motif is used a lot on the FIXED ENGINE tour, so it’s great to see it with the bright colours often used in Yorke’s art right on the outside of the box.

On the Inside

The outside of the packaging is a slip-cover protective box to keep the actual contents safe, and inside there is a separate hard case containing the two Blu-Ray discs. This case uses the same stencilled block letters from the outside box, but is much easier to read the words “OLDCODEX Tour 2017 FIXED ENGINE.” It has less emphasis placed on the background and more on this text. Upon opening this case, you’re greeted with the two Blu-Ray discs in a dual-holder, one with the concert itself and another with the bonus material. Both continue the theme of the same large white lettering and chaotic background art. The other side of the case has a dramatic picture of Yorke and Ta_2 silhouetted on the stage, which definitely gets you pumped and ready to watch the concert!

A great feature that comes with the OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN Blu-Ray is a small photobook that was also inside of the case. It’s not very big, but still has 22 pages of full-colour pictures! A few of them are Yorke’s graffiti art from the shows, usually reading the band’s name or the tour name. Some also feature the concert venues and crowd shots showcasing the high energy in the halls. Of course, most of the pictures are of the band members themselves though! About half are Ta_2 and half are Yorke, with some really awesome shots of them performing on the stage singing and painting. There are even a few bonus shots from behind the scenes of them as well! All of the pictures are printed on quality glossy paper, and while the book is just a paperback one without any text, it’s a cool item. We recommend having a look through it before popping the Blu-Ray in to get yourself hyped for the show! Finally, there’s one last slip of paper on the inside. It has a black and white picture of Yorke and Ta_2 smiling together for the camera in the background, and all of OLDCODEX’s upcoming tour dates across Japan. If you’re a fan in Japan, it’s a great reference for their next shows for the remainder of 2017, along with info and prices for how to get tickets. The reverse of the paper also has two more tour dates for early 2018 in Japan, and another great picture of Yorke and Ta_2 together again!

Product Features

A great feature of the OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN Blu-Ray is that it is suited for all regions! So even if you don’t live in Japan or have a Japanese Blu-Ray player, you can still order and enjoy it all the same. As long as you have a Blu-Ray player and not just DVD, it should work for you wherever you are. This means OLDCODEX fans around the world that couldn’t necessarily make it to the FIXED ENGINE tour can still enjoy it! It’s a nice little bonus for fans in Japan planning their next OLDCODEX show.

The Performance

Of course, because the OLDCODEX Live Blu-ray “FIXED ENGINE" 2017 in BUDOKAN is the final concert in the tour, you can expect it to be a massive show! Plus the BUDOKAN is a huge venue with lots of space for many fans, and the show looks completely sold out. There are OLDCODEX fans filming the pit as well as all the balconies, and they're all keeping the energy high. The concert starts out strong and hardly lets that energy die for the entire show, and that's saying something considering they perform 26 songs!! You can see the sweat running down Ta_2 and Yorke's faces, and you know they're performing their hearts out.

The blu ray is a great way to see the set-up of the stage and the atmosphere of the venue. The entire backdrop on the stage is the same motif of massive gears and cogs that match the design on the Blu-ray box (and you can see them being designed on the behind the scenes disc!). It opens with nothing but mysterious instrumentals and green laser lights flashing the tour and band name and letting the excitement build up. When the band finally appears on the stage, you can get excited at home along with all the fans that are actually there when the music becomes live and the stage lights up as the first song begins. Most of OLDCODEX's songs are really upbeat, strong rock anthems and the blu ray captures them well. Even when it slows down for a few ballads, Yorke's dramatic painting keeps you captivated to the screen as you wait for what is sure to be an energetic recovery coming next. The ups and downs are well planned to give the crowd a break when they need it and then bring them right back into the fray.

The concert footage has plenty of focus on Ta_2 and Yorke of course, but also features the other members of the band that actually play the music. And of course, there are lots of sweeping crowd shots and wide angle shots to show the entire stage! With everything from the instruments being played to Yorke painting to Ta_2 singing and the fans rocking out along with him, it shows a wide variety of everything happening at the concert. Of course nothing can compare to being at a live show, but with 125 minutes’ worth of OLDCODEX music shot with good sound and picture quality, the blu ray is the next best thing. If you were there and want to relive the day or are just happy to be able to enjoy the show in blu ray form, the quality of filmography doesn't disappoint. It's the next best thing to feeling like you're there.

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk - PlayStation Vita Review

What part will you play in this town where Wolfs are against Hawks?

Game Info:

  • System: PlayStation Vita
  • Publisher: Aksys Games
  • Developer: Aksys Games
  • Release Date: June 29, 2018
  • Price:$39.99
  • Rating: T for Teens
  • Genre: Action, Adventure, Otome, Visual Novel
  • Players: Single player

Who it Caters to

For those following closely to the releases made by Aksys Games this season, you will know that Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk is the 3rd installment in Aksys Games’ Summer of Mystery promo. The previous two games were Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, which appears to be the first installment of the Psychedelica series, and 7’scarlet. If you played either of the two games, you should know that there is a bit of mystery involved in so you shouldn’t expect any less from Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk!

What to Expect

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk is an otome game and visual novel with more emphasis on the visual novel aspect than the “otome” part of otome game, which is actually quite similar to its predecessor, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly. This means that the game is more plot heavy with a few glimpses of romance, but we’ll harp on that later. Like its predecessor, you can unlock side stories as you play and see different interactions with the different characters that may or may not play a part in the overall story, but it does affect your ability to grasp the story and some of the history of the characters. The game features a Flowchart, much like Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, that allows you to backtrack to go down other branches of the story, which proves to be quite useful should you wish to explore all of the storylines. Like Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, there are many different storylines and you’ll just want to keep playing to find out more. Do you think you have it in you to get all of the storylines?
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk is the story about a young girl names Eiar who disguises herself as a boy, which is not quite explained upfront as the player is asked to choose their male and female names, and then shows up in the story as a male. Eiar is cursed with an eye that turns red when her emotions become heightened, which is a sign of the witch. In order to avoid being murdered at the hands of the townsfolk, Eiar disguises herself as a boy named Jed who lives in an abandoned tower outside of the village. Jed works as a handyman in town helping the townspeople and interacting with childhood friends Lavan and Levi, the heirs of the Wolf clan. In this town, people are separated by their loyalties to either the Wolf or the Hawk families. As a childhood friend to the Wolf heirs, Jed tends to side with the Wolf family, but there is a lot more to this town than anyone knows and it involves both the Wolfs and the Hawks, and perhaps the young witch who everyone fears. Then when the church mentions that they are missing a certain special antique, you will find out that nothing in the town was what you once thought.

Gameplay

The game starts off quite interestingly by not outright telling you why you are playing the part of a boy. Instead, you go through a rather dark introductory story about a witch before being thrown into Jed’s everyday life interacting with Lavan and Levi, who you obviously can assume are going to be your love interests. Then you slowly meet the other love interests and characters in the story while you gradually learn the circumstances for Jed’s disguise as a boy. This plays into the idea of the mysteries in the Psychedelica series and keeps us a bit on our toes. The first part of the game is somewhat mundane with most of your time spent interacting with different townsfolk to hear their thoughts about different things like the two families: Wolfs and Hawks. You’ll also hear thoughts about the witch, someone that has not existed in the game really aside from Jed. but Jed clearly shows that they have no special powers at all. For the most part, the beginning of the game is rather dull since you are just going through these interactions to find out bits and pieces of what goes on in the town. There will be bits and pieces of story, too, but some of these “story” cutscenes don’t feel all that relevant. The most important pieces are the Main Story ones, and those are not as frequent, and you have to wade through the other stuff first before you get to them, although you can probably skip the other ones and go straight for the main story and shorten your actual playtime (but who does that?). At one point in Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk, you get to alternate between your Jed and Eiar alter egos and walk around town interacting with people to see if you get a different reaction based on how you are dressed. This may affect different main characters or bring about special cutscenes with them, although some characters will interact with you romantically even if you are dressed as Jed (great for those fujoshi moments!). All the same, the cute romance scenes are few and far between while you are more focused on fixing things between the Wolfs and the Hawks than your own romance. We should mention that playing all of these tiny side stories helps you gain Town Memory Units. These Town Memory Units can be used to buy more memories with certain characters, although we will be honest, this did not feel like a fruitful aspect of the game. If we received any extra stories, we didn’t notice them pop up and really, it felt like you acquired the Town Memory Units too easily and didn’t have enough side stories to purchase, so whether you wish to participate in that or not is up to you. We believe the story moves on without them, but who knows if certain CGs are unlocked in this manner since we decided to do our best and acquire everything. The second half of the game becomes much more interesting as it actually seems like there are mysteries to be unlocked, whereas the beginning of the game plays out like a slice of life except you’re poor, disguised as a boy, and trying to find out more about this item the church mentioned to you. The beginning of the game is extremely misleading, but it sets the stage for the rest of the game where there are struggles of each character begin to bubble to the surface and your own secrets spill over. Relationships between different characters are tested and unrest takes over the town. We’d hate to spoil the premise, so we won’t say any more, but you really have to get through the first couple hours of the game to get to the real meat of Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk. As we stated before, there is little romance in the game, but that seems to be similar to its predecessor and even 7’scarlet where the plot takes precedence over cheesy romantic scenes. That does not mean you’re not going to get a few good CGs and sweet moments, but these are few and far between. However, what we did enjoy were the complexities of each character’s history and struggles, which didn’t have to do completely with the plot at hand, unlike Black Butterfly where everyone’s personalities had more to do with one special event. Even characters who were not love interests had some complex emotions, but there are a few reasons for that you will just have to play to understand. However, we were disappointed to see that some characters were not developed at all and were merely used to further the story along and be convenient, much like Orion from Amnesia: Memories if you know what we mean. Graphically, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk outdoes Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, which appeared stiff and somewhat childlike in our opinion. The character designs are just so much better than before and it really stands out compared to its predecessor. Music-wise, we can’t say that Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk outdoes itself. The soundtrack does not really stand out, but it is enjoyable at the very least. Oh, but the best part of all is that all characters are fully voiced and they do it so well! Even the main character has a pleasing voice!

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

As a sequel to Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, we had a few expectations of Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk, but we were quite excited to start playing it once it got into our hands. The game did not disappoint and in some ways, we did like the game more than its predecessor. As an otome game, it may not have as much depth in romance to say, Amnesia: Memories or Hakuoki, but the minds behind this game put a lot of thought into its story and what it would deliver to those who enjoy visual novels.

Honey's Pros:

  • Flowchart makes it easier to explore all of the branching storylines without too much work to backtrack
  • Beautiful voice acting
  • Amazing graphics and better character designs than before
  • Character stories had some depth, instead of serving to only having enough background to serve the story like in the prequel
  • Surprisingly lengthy gameplay
  • Fully voiced game

Honey's Cons:

  • The game was left with a few glaring plot holes that left a rather sour taste, i.e. Hugh.
  • Acquiring Town Memory Units can be mundane and feel extremely slow
  • Very little romance, which is a turn off for those who play for just the romance

Honey's Final Verdict:

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk has not disappointed and we cannot wait to see what else Aksys Games has in store for us visual novel lovers after this great season of otome games. We hope that you have a better grasp of Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk after reading this review. Are there any out there that were on the fence but now wish to play Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk? Are there any out there that are not interested? Please feel free to share all of your thoughts and continue to check in with us for more of what you love!

Hey Saiki, This Person Is Seriously Annoying Like Forreal

  • Episodes: 24
  • Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy, Supernatural
  • Airing Date: January 2018 - June 2018
  • Producers: J.C. Staff, Egg Firm

Saiki Kusuo Preview (No Spoilers)

Saiki has all but had it with life. You see, he’s in possession of a slew of supernatural powers which include teleportation, telepathy, x-ray vision, psychokinesis, and more. Of course, he is not going to get off easily, and his powers actually pose a danger to everyone and everything around him. He wears glasses and weird antennae that allow him to keep his powers in check thanks to his weird genius older brother who is always trying to mess with him. Saiki goes to school where he meets a gaggle of characters and the word “unique” only can go so far to describe his classmates. But hey, he’s just trying to make it through another day without being roped into something weird with Shun and Riki, avoiding the self-obsessed Teruhashi-san, and his other classmates who all have their own quirks. His luck does start to change though when he meets Mikoto.

Mikoto Aiura Highlights

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="NEOBK-1928216" text="" url="" ]

1. Mikoto Is A Gyaru

If we told you Gyaru culture was dying out fast like Ganguro, would you believe us? Well it’s true. What makes Mikoto so great is that she’s that screaming shade of yellow in the rainbow of characters in Saiki’s life. She speaks like a gyaru, she’s loud like one, and she does everything at her own pace which is usually about 2 to 3 steps ahead of all of her classmates due to her being smart. Not to mention, too, she stands up to the system with her blonde hair, eye makeup stickers, tan, and the fact that she always looks slightly disheveled compared to all of her classmates due to being dressed down; a key gyaru characteristic.

2. Mikoto Is Not Here For Your Nonsense

We really wanted to call this “mikoto is not here for your s***”, but that would not pass. Saiki is the good guy. Even if he calls people meddlesome, he does do the right thing. Mikoto, on the other hand, is quick to be like “wtf is this loser? They’re gross!” and other things meaning that we can enjoy her outspokenness that should be coming from Saiki but is not. She really cannot stand Reita–for good reason since he is a lecher–and loves to rail on him about how his powers are weird leading to you always laughing about what she says.

3. Mikoto Is A Psychic & Is Actually Open About It

Mikoto is open from the moment you meet her that she has powers. She actually uses them to perform fortune telling and is oddly accurate to the shock of her classmates. Though she can see other people’s Gera or aura, which leads her to Saiki since he is so shining, she uses this to help her tell someone’s future and fortune.

4. Mikoto Always Seems To Have the Right Thing to Say

There is a phrase in Japanese called 適当 (tekitou) which can mean good or bad, “appropriate” or “suitable”. Mikoto is this for better or worse, but definitely for the comedy. She always has the right thing to say and even if she’s not as big as Saiki, she definitely has all the zingers that land perfectly and are ready to make you burst into laughter.

5. Mikoto Actually Is a Threat to Kokomi Teruhashi & Is Saiki’s Love Interest

Normally this is reserved for bombshell characters, but when Saiki actually starts to hang out with Mikoto to get Kokomi to leave him alone, Kokomi is SHOOK down to those false roots of her personality. Kokomi tries, but since Mikoto is a fellow psychic, she gladly helps out Saiki, partially due to her own interest in him, and Kokomi is losing her mind over how close they are.

Final Thoughts

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="COCC-17457" text="" url="" ]

Mikoto is not going to be getting her own spinoff anime or anything like that anytime soon, but she does make and leave a great lasting impression on you in a show full of characters with colorful hair, but maybe slightly lacking in the personality department. It’s for these reasons and more that we love her and we hope you do, too! If you are a Mikoto lover or just a Saiki fan, be sure to let us know down below. Till next time!

Top 10 6th Gen Pokemon

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-episodes/17_13-kindergarten-chaos/" ]

Up until 6th Gen, we could only envision Pokémon as 2D artwork. You’d get to know them through a quick howl as they pop out of their Pokéball accompanied by a quick shake of their sprite. They’d never move all that much. Maybe if you watched the anime you developed a better sense of how they’d animate, but let’s face it: the Pokémon anime is mostly geared towards kids. Most of us stopped when we hit junior high school. That’s what makes 6th Gen so special. No longer were Pokémon limited to the confines of 2D artwork. The shift to 3D character models made it easier for Game Freak to individually animate every single one. 6th Gen is the one that brought Pokémon to life for the masses. Because of this, we thought it would be nice to take a look at the best that X & Y had to offer. These were the first new Pokémon that were designed with 3D in mind. We had no preconceptions for how they should move around in our minds!

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

10. Pangoro

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/pangoro" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Forget that stereotype of the lazy panda! Sure, Pangoro doesn’t like to be bothered, but that’s only because, you know, whatever it’s got going on is probably more important than whatever stupid thing you’re annoying it with. Pangoro certainly isn’t lying around all day eating bamboo. In fact, the only bamboo Pangoro eats is the thin shoot he chews in his mouth which, let’s face it, he only does because it makes him look cool. However, that’s not to say Pangoro doesn’t have its morals. The only thing Pangoro hates more than being bothered is someone picking on something weaker than them. This sends Pangoro into a rage and will stop at nothing to see that injustice corrected. Pangoro draws upon the Japanese archetype of the “bancho”, or what we might know as a street punk. It’s an odd connection to make with the traditionally docile view we have of pandas, but not one entirely out of left field. Bancho are often viewed as independent from the rest of society, as they’re viewed as misfits. This behavior is actually very similar to that of pandas, which tend to be loners and only meet up to mate. This makes Pangoro a more accurate depiction of pandas than how we envision them!

9. Aurorus

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/aurorus" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Despite being a mainstay of Pokémon for so long, fossil Pokémon rarely get that much attention. Sure, oldschool fans probably have a soft spot for Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl, but that is mainly due to nostalgia for the original games. Few are going to cite them as their favorite or anything. Every Pokémon game after 2nd Gen has its own set of fossil Pokémon to choose from, but they never really caught on. They’ve always come off as novelty Pokémon. That definitely changed in X & Y. Aurorus was different from past fossil Pokémon in that it actually resembled a dinosaur! Think about it: outside of Aerodactyl, all the fossil Pokémon we had seen were based on ancient bugs or creatures divorced from the dinosaurs we love. Aurorus visibly resembles an Amargasaurus, which, even if you don’t know that particular genus, you can tell is a Brontosaurus-type creature. Plus, it helps that Aurorus is absolutely adorable, distinguishing it further from its dino-brethren.

8. Noivern

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/noivern" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Look, bats are cool. Yet, somehow, Pokémon managed to drop the ball on this front. Zubat and Golbat are some of the most notoriously annoying Pokémon out there, showing up for what feels like 80% of every battle inside caves. Not only that, but they’re kind of doofy-looking. Crobat isn’t hated or anything, but it’s not exactly a stand-out either. The Zubat line was even replaced in Black & White with the even sillier Woobat line. But, finally, in X & Y, we got our sweet bat Pokémon in Noivern. It’s a hybrid of a wyvern and a bat, combining the sonic speeds of the latter with the mythical powers of the former. Interestingly, even if nowadays there’s no real distinction between wyverns and dragons, Noivern harkens back to the original interpretation of the creature by giving it just two legs. Noivern is something of a modernization of the classic wyvern, fusing it with a creature we’re more familiar with while keeping it totally distinct from its draconic brothers.

7. Aegislash

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/aegislash" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

While Pokémon designs are more often based on organic lifeforms, every now and then, one will come along that just looks like a random thing. And Aegislash might be the most obvious thing-like Pokémon out there. There’s a bit more thought to Aegislash than drawing a couple swords with a shield and calling it a day. In fact, the Japanese name Gildguard is a pun on Gilgamesh, the famed Mesopotamian myth. Because of that, Aegislash draws to mind weaponry possessed by spirits of ancient legends, risen again because society has failed to live up to the standards they once set. Of course, what people actually know about Aegislash is that it’s one of the most overpowered non-legendary Pokémon out there. Aegislash’s signature move King Shield prevents all damage inflicted on it, lowers the Attack stat of Pokémon that make contact with it by half, and shifts Aegislash into its shield form. Its base form has unbelievably high attacking stats, while Aegislash’s shield form has incredible defensive moves. King’s Shield has made Aegislash into a completely dominant force in the competitive game, as the only Pokémon that can reliably counter it are legendary Pokémon. And even then, it’ll lay on the hurt without proper prediction.

6. Tyrantrum

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/tyrantrum" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Everyone loves the Tyrannosaurus Rex. They’re the king lizard; the top of the food chain from prehistory. It’s hard to imagine something more terrifying or powerful that has ever existed on this planet. They’re the ultimate power fantasy. When we watch Jurassic Park, we’re all waiting for the end when the T-Rex busts into the museum and wreaks havoc. Naturally, when Pokémon originally came out, everyone was hoping to train one for themselves. Up until 6th Gen, people made do with T-Rex-like Pokémon like Charizard and Tyranitar. But finally, in X & Y, people’s wishes finally came true with Tyrantrum. Tyrantrum was the second of two fossil Pokémon introduced in 6th Gen, and fans thankfully did not have to wait long to acquire one. You’d get the fossils as early as the second gym battle, and could revive said fossils very shortly afterwards. This meant you could nearly play through the entire game with a T-Rex, fulfilling a dream for many players that was long overdue.

5. Hawlucha

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/hawlucha" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Is someone at Game Freak a wrestling fan? With Pikachu Libre and Hawlucha both added in 6th Gen, it’s hard to believe otherwise! Hawlucha is perhaps most known from the anime, as Ash managed to acquire one during the X & Y arc of the anime. However, while Ash tends to catch a lot of Pokémon over the course of the series, there are very few that he bonded with quite like Hawlucha. This is probably because during X & Y, The Pokémon Company cut down on how many Pokémon Ash would catch over the course of the series, giving more screen time to the ones he’d stick with. Of course, there’s no way Hawlucha wouldn’t have been popular with or without the anime. People took one look at that design and fell in love. Fighting/Flying was an unheard of type combination before X & Y, so people were excited about the possibilities. Plus, the flamboyant stylings of Lucha Libre fighters just blended so naturally with birds that it’s almost a wonder why it took them so long to make the connection. Hawlucha also gained some attention thanks to its exclusive move Flying Press, which simultaneously deals Fighting-type and Flying-type damage!

4. Talonflame

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/talonflame" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

It was only supposed to be X & Y’s version of Pidgey. You can find Fletchling, the first of Talonflame’s pre-evolutions, just about anywhere. Really, the only difference was that Game Freak wanted to mix it up a bit. Rather than being the standard Normal/Flying Pokémon you find at the beginning of every single Pokémon game, Talonflame is Fire/Flying. This was a nice compromise for how difficult Fire Pokémon are to find compared to Water and Grass, meaning players who started with Chespin or Froakie wouldn’t have to struggle to fill that slot like past fans of Water and Grass. We doubt Game Freak realized what they were doing when they gave Talonflame Gale Wings as a Hidden Ability. Gale Wings, for those not in the know, gives priority to Flying-type moves. This ability meant that Talonflame could come out and use an incredibly strong Flying-type move like Brave Bird to shut down its opposition without worrying about speed differences. Talonflame ended up becoming massively popular in the competitive scene because of that, and was one of the only times that the starting bird Pokémon ended up so viable.

3. Fennekin

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="www.pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/fennekin" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Somewhere around the early 2010s, fennec foxes became more widely known. Maybe it was due to the rising presence of the internet, maybe people were getting sick of Caturday; we don’t know. All we do know is that suddenly fennec foxes were the new hotness. And, frankly, Game Freak wasn’t about to miss out on capitalizing on trends. This led to Fennekin; arguably the cutest starter Pokémon out there. Immediately upon its unveiling, Fennekin was the quick favorite of the three starters. Naturally, Game Freak was quick on marketing Fennekin. In the X & Y arc of the anime, Serena received one from Professor Sycamore and Fennekin was her constant companion until it evolved into Braxian. How could anyone not absolutely adore those poofy ears that erupt into flame? That pointy little snout that you just want to give a poke? It’s so cuddly that it’s simply made for plushies. It’s only natural that it’d be the most popular of the starter Pokémon of 6th gen, right? Well, we’ll get into that in a bit.

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-episodes/17_21-a-pokevision-of-things-to-come/" ]

2. Sylveon

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/sylveon" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Good ol’ reliable Eevee. Not just one of the most popular Pokémon since the beginning of the series, but also consistently one of the most relevant. Eevee is always brought out when Game Freak and The Pokémon Company need to hype up a new feature or mechanic for a new generation. In fact, Sylveon was one of the very first 6th Gen Pokémon revealed to the public. However, even though new typings for Eeveelutions (as they are often called) are a big deal, Game Freak was hesitant to say anything about it at first. What was the deal? Fairy was eventually revealed as Sylveon’s type. These were introduced into 6th Gen as a long needed counterbalance to Dragon-types. This was the first new type that Pokémon had seen in over 10 years, making Sylveon not just a big deal for Eevee, but for the entire Pokémon franchise. Sylveon was the world’s introduction to Fairy-types, and as a result has made a huge impact on the fandom. Plus, with those ribbons and doe eyes, Sylveon’s easily the cutest evolution of the already adorable Eevee. It’s just building on what we already love.

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-episodes/17_13-kindergarten-chaos/" ]

1. Greninja

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="pokemon.com" url="https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/greninja" ]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Remember when we said Fennekin had to be the most popular of the X & Y starters? Yeah, turns out that title belongs to Greninja. This ninja frog uses its own tongue as a scarf. We’re not entirely sure why either outside of the demonstrable fact that ninja scarves are totally sick. Not only that, but Greninja can compress water into shurikens. Not just any shurikens either; they’re so strong that Greninja can shred metal just by tossing them. The Pokémon Company must have understood how popular Greninja was going to be because in the anime, Ash actually starts with Froakie. Froakie turns out as one of his strongest Pokémon when it evolves into Greninja. This is because of the introduction of Bond Phenomenon, which boosts Greninja’s strength to incredible levels. Bond Phenomenon was eventually introduced into the games, where players could obtain a Greninja that could transform into Ash-Greninja by playing the demo for Sun & Moon. This marks one of the only times the anime has been officially recognized by the games. Greninja is remarkable in that if you were to ask anyone to name a Pokémon that didn’t come from the original games, Greninja is probably one of the first ones who would come up. Its popularity with kids is nearly unmatched with anyone else outside of possibly Lucario. In fact, Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai once famously remarked that, before Pokémon X & Y were revealed to the public, he requested Greninja to be a new Pokémon representative for the next Smash Bros before Game Freak had even finalized its name because he could tell Greninja was going to be big. He was right.

Final Thoughts

6th Gen is only one generation old now. Even with Sun & Moon out, X & Y is still very fresh on our minds. As a result, the Pokémon mentioned above may not be quite as popular down the line. However, as of now, these are who we feel currently dominate the zeitgeist of 6th Gen. Do you disagree? Did we miss one of your favorites? Are you a diehard Chespin fan and want to give us what-for? Well, please let us know in the comments below! We’d love to hear from you!

The private investigation firm known as the Boy Detectives' Club was created by Kogorou Akechi. One of the members is high school boy Kensuke Hanasaki, who by chance meets Yoshio Kobayashi. Kobayashi is a strange boy with an amnesia, and even though he wishes to die, he is unable to. Seeing how Kobayashi's inability to die can become useful, Hanasaki offers him a deal: if Kobayashi joins the Boy Detectives' Club, he will help him die eventually. That's how the two of them become friends, foes, and colleagues, while Akechi's sworn enemy – Twenty Faces – is preparing his move... Trickster's opening makes immediately clear Hanasaki and Kobayashi's relationship. In fact, it starts off showing Kobayashi, then Hanasaki, and finally the two of them swimming together in dark blue water. Right after, we see alternatively both of them walking on a background made of a Ferris wheel and the city's contour. After a little frame showing Twenty Faces, each character is presented, and right after, they all together fight against him. The opening ends in a very fitting way, enclosing the cornerstone of Trickster: Kobayashi lies down, reaching out toward pink cherry blossoms, and Hanasaki appears extending his hand toward Kobayashi, who closes his eyes.

9. “Hikari no Hahen” by Yu Takahashi – Orange

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="July 2016 – September 2016" post_id=""][/en]

One day, Naho Takamiya–a 16-year-old high school girl–receives a strange letter. Apparently, it was sent by herself from ten years in the future. Initially, Naho thinks it may be some kind of prank from her friends, but she is shocked to realize that day by day, what is written in that letter happens for real. Naho Takamiya from ten years in the future is full of regrets: she couldn't avoid a tragedy happened during her high school days. In fact, according to the letter, Kakeru, the new transfer student, won't be with them in the future. Naho from the future wishes for Naho to change the past! Even with its Sci-Fi elements, Orange is a full-fledged shoujo anime, involving friendship and, of course, romance. Its opening, the wonderful “Hikari no Hahen”, starts off by presenting each character and the school setting. It is a very touching opening, all the more when you have already read the manga and know what's going to happen throughout the story. We see the characters getting upset about something disturbing their peace, but right after, they all–including Kakeru–run happily together. The opening ends with white paper and a pencil on a desk.

8. “Lay Your Hands On Me” by BOOM BOOM SATELLITES – Kiznaiver

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="12" item2="Aired" content2="April 2016 – June 2016" post_id=""][/en]

Katsuhira Agata is the perfect target for bullies: his sense of pain has vanished altogether, so bullies extort money from him on daily basis after beating him to a pulp. One day, Katsuhira, his childhood friend Chidori, and four other teenagers are forced to become “Kiznaivers”. These six kids taking part to the Kizuna System project will be connected through pain: if one feels pain – either physical, or emotional – all the others will be struck with the same amount of agony. This is how each of them will be forced to face their inner demons! This opening starts off with a kaleidoscope, and after it, we see our protagonists holding hands, used as a metaphor to say that their lives are intertwined. Then, after a few static images showing some places our protagonists will explore, and another confusing kaleidoscope, one by one each character is presented. After a little look into the Kizuna System laboratory, once again we see these six kids, one by one, being absorbed by the kaleidoscope. The opening ends with Katshuira's eye in the foreground.

7. "Binary Star" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Uru – Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Die Neue These – Kaikou (The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: The New Thesis - Encounter)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="VVCL-1203" text="" url="" ]

In a faraway future, mankind managed to colonize a large part in the universe. The monarchic Galactic Empire, and the democratic Free Planets Alliance have been at war for a long time now. In this setting, two rivals manage to raise to power: Reinhard von Lohengramm, a young admiral in the Galactic Empire, who hates the emperor and Yang Wen-li, commodore of the Free Planets Alliance, who hates war. These two men will face political struggles, battles, and conflicts, but in the end, they'll manage to turn the tables. “Binary Star” is like a sweet lullaby, accompanying frames of two airships meant to recall the Galactic Empire, and the Free Planets Alliance. Right after, we see Reinhard and his comrades, and a pinch of his past. Then there are frames showing the terrible war between the two superpowers, and Yang Wei-li while drinking tea ends this wonderful opening.

6. “Super Shooter” by Rip Slyme – Gantz

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="April 2004 – June 2004" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Kei Kurono is a high school boy, bored with life and cynical to no end. Due to some tragic circumstances, he and his childhood friend – Masaru Katou – end up dying being run over by a train; the worst is yet to come, though. After waking up in a room with no way out, full of other dead people, and a black ball in the middle shouting orders, Kei and the others begin a deadly game: they will have to fight against aliens. By winning and scoring points, they will receive the possibility to have their lives back! If you felt anxious while watching Gantz, we are sure you found its opening extremely fitting. “Super Shooter” presses while we watch Kei and the other protagonists fighting against the aliens, wearing the black uniform. Some gory scenes are scattered here and there, and then we see the black ball and what's inside of it. Basically, this opening is like watching Kei and the others being chased after by something very malicious, and that's why this opening fits perfectly with this show: it's the main theme of Gantz, and it makes you perceive what you feel while watching it.

5. "Namida no Mukou" by Stereopony – Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season

In order to put an end to the conflicts among the three superpowers – the Union, the Human Reformist Alliance, and the AEU – a new organization was born: the Celestial Being. The complete depletion of fossil fuels brought mankind to use solar energy as a new power source, and three orbital elevators were created. Since only selected countries could use them, their creation led to war. Four guys, each of them with their own reasons, join the non-profit Celestial Being, becoming Gundam Meisters. They'll do whatever it will take to put an end to the conflicts! The opening starts off with a bright butterfly passing in front of the female characters, then we see the four protagonists driving their Gundams. Right after, there are frames of them giving the viewers hunches of what brought the four to join the Celestial Being, and successively we see their deeds with their Gundams during a battle. This opening ends very poetically, what with Setsuna reaching out to Marina Ismail (supposedly), and the bright butterfly passing in front of them. In the last frame we see the four Celestial Beings walking away in opposite directions.

4. "Uncontrollable" by Kanako Itou – ChäoS;Child

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="FVCG-1404" text="" url="" ]

A series of terrifying murders by the “New Generation Madness” came to an end with an earthquake that turned Shibuya to rubble. Six years after, in a newly rebuilt Shibuya, a series of gruesome murders pop up once again. Takuru Miyashiro, a high school student, immediately realizes that the dates match with the deaths of the New Generation Madness. Takuru, together with his friends, decides to investigate, only to discover a shocking truth... This opening starts off in black and white, with little Takuru, and his childhood friend Serika Onoe, witnessing the earthquake. Then, we see a grown-up Takuru walking the chaotic Shibuya streets, and right after, various settings showing all the other characters. After frames showing alternatively crowded places, and empty ones in black and white, we see a desperate Takuru running, and then falling on the floor and screaming. After another round of the female characters in apparently dangerous situations, the opening ends with Takuru seeing all his friends disappearing one by one and remaining alone. Finally, he turns and begins to walk, when he raises his head, and he is back in the crowded Shibuya, just like the opening began.

3. "Abnormalize" by Ling Tosite Sigure – Psycho-Pass

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="22" item2="Aired" content2="October 2012 – March 2012" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Japan has created the Sybil System, with the purpose of determining criminal intent, or the Psycho Pass, of each citizen. Even if just by the spur of the moment, ill-wills must be suppressed by the Inspectors, often helped by the Enforcers. The Enforcers are former Inspectors, gone latent criminals: the dirty work is up to them, in exchange for freedom. Akane Tsunemori, an Inspector, paired up with Shinya Kogami – an Enforcer – will discover the truth behind the Sybil System, and their discovery will be the starting point for the perfect concept of justice to fall apart. This opening shows Kogami fighting against himself–due to his regretful past–and then we see him drowning. Akane Tsunemori appears to help him, but then she shoots him, and episode by episode the viewers can understand what that means. Kogami hits the ground, and then he runs on high Tokyo rooftops, holding a gun; Akane awaits him doing the same. The opening ends with Kogami and Akane looking at each other. This opening is very fitting, as we see clearly their relationship: Kogami sees his old self in Akane, while Akane looks up to Kogami, until something goes wrong. It really deserved a mention!

2. "Hacking to the Gate" by Kanako Itou – Steins;Gate

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="MFCZ-1005" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="24" item2="Aired" content2="April 2011 – September 2011" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Rintarou Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist”. He and his friends – Mayuri Shiina, and Hashida Itaru – spend their time in a room in Akihabara, while Okabe tries to create future gadgets. One day, one of Okabe's creations–the Phone Microwave–begins to actually work. It can send emails to the past, changing the future events. It will prove to be very useful the day a tragic accident happens... Steins;Gate's opening is just as messy as this show may seem, since it involves time and how it can be altered somehow. “Hacking to the Gate” accompanies frames of a clock gears, while each character is presented on a black and white background. Then, there are Okabe and Mayuri in the background, and right after we see all the other characters involved with Okabe's creation, the Phone Microwave. As the music pumps up towards the chorus, the other main protagonist appears: Kurisu Makise. Finally, other confusing frames relating to time pop up one after the other, and the opening ends with all the characters appearing one after the other on the black and white background.

1. "Let Me Hear" by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas – Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu (Parasyte -the maxim-)

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="24" item2="Aired" content2="October 2014 – March 2015" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Shinichi Izumi is a plain high school student with a quiet life, and a very loving family. One night, though, his peaceful life turns to a mess: a parasite enters his body and takes the place of his right hand. Forced to share a difficult existence, Shinichi and the parasite–Migi–have to fight against other malicious parasites, in order to defend themselves, and survive. The situation takes a turn for the worse when another tragedy strikes Shinichi and his family... Here we are with our 1st position! “Let Me Hear” is the perfect fit for the visuals of this opening. It starts off with parasites in embryo form, and then, we see them falling on Tokyo. While the background remains almost neutral, we see a sad Satomi Murano, followed by a frame of a sad Shinichi. As the music keeps pumping up, there's a closeup on Migi and frames implying Shinichi's changes. After seeing some other parasites in human form, the chorus is dedicated to three important persons in Shinichi's life: his mother, Kana, and finally Murano. While approaching the end, we see alternatively Shinichi falling down and frames of other characters. The opening ends with Shinichi who has undergone a total change, mental and physical.

Now, we have entered the superhuman age, where eighty percent of the world’s total population are born with some kind of idiosyncrasy, known as a Quirk. The fictional heroes that everyone idolised have become a reality. It’s in this kind of world that Izuku Midoriya (known as Deku by his friends) hopes to become a hero and sets out to enroll in Yuuei, a Hero Academy known for producing countless famous heroes. However, it just so happens that Deku is one of the twenty percent of the population that is born without any powers - a 'Quirkless' loser. [en]Synopsis[/en][es]Sinopsis[/es]

An alternate ending to Steins;Gate, set in the visual novel’s Beta World Timeline. Okabe has given up on saving Kurisu and returned to his everyday life, but is suffering from flashbacks of the events that happened in the world lines he crossed, and of Kurisu’s death. He has sunk into despair, and starting with Mayuri, who encourages him to visit a mental health clinic, the labmen are worried for him. Before long, even ‘Kyouma Hououin’ has been sealed away… That’s when Okabe meets Kurisu’s former acquaintances and volunteers to become a test subject for Amadeus, a computer system in which Kurisu’s memories have been saved. Using an exclusive application, he can communicate with ‘Kurisu.’ Then one day, a girl comes to the lab for advice - a girl with a striking resemblance to Kurisu.

Three Episode Impression

[ua_synopsis text="Steins;Gate 0 really plays the part of a sequel to the original series. Considering it’s been 7 years since the original anime was aired, you might be a bit rusty so I do recommend rewatching the first series if you wish to really catch everything in Steins;Gate 0, but it won’t detract from your enjoyment of it. It’s really interesting to see Okabe Rintarou after the events from the original series; he’s coping with new life and he’s a university student now. While Rintarou is shown as being steady, it’s easy to tell that he’s got some serious PTSD after the events of Steins;Gate. The first 3 episodes show that Rintarou is still suffering from the PTSD but also seeking out remnants of Kurise, especially in her AI form. Unlike the previous anime and the studio’s Chaos;Head, the only drama in Steins;Gate 0 comes in the form of watching Rintarou trying to cope with PTSD and the depression of losing the love of his life. It’s a real psychological anime that feels very seinen and saddens us to watch; it feels very real, but I cannot help but put hope that something else might happen to Rintarou. I haven’t played the game, but I’m expecting Steins;Gate 0 to become a lot darker and I’m steeling myself for it considering the rather dark and realistic themes shown already."]
