Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers - Adventure of a Timeline | PS4
Who it Caters to
Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a game targeted towards younger gamers, especially those who want to get into more difficult and complicated games but still be able to succeed. The game had a very thorough tutorial system, explaining everything possible about how to play the game and expecting the player to not know how to do anything on their own; it even explains buying and selling in shops, navigating menus, and more small details that tend to be similar in most games. The lead character, Sherry, is also only 9 years old and for the most part acts her age (other than, you know, having to save her town from doom). All of these elements show that Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is aimed at a younger audience.
While primary and middle school students may be the main demographic that Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers caters to, it can be enjoyed by adults as well. Playing the game as an adult is very low pressure because it’s not very difficult and has a low level of stress. The graphics’ quality is high, the character designs are cute, and the town of Clocknee is beautifully designed. For adult gamers that just want to play a casual game that is fun and cute without the pressure of committing to something super serious, Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers can provide. It still has a full narrative and RPG gameplay, just in a more simple and accessible package than many other RPGs on the market today.
What to Expect
Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a modern fantasy RPG with steampunk elements. The setting of Clocknee is a European-style town set at the turn of the millennium - plus robots. In fact, one of the main characters in your party is a robot named Isaac. The enemies that you fight are also robots, called automatons, often in the form of household appliances that were treated poorly (like old TVs). The weapons used are a mixture of ranged and melee, from swords to laser guns and more. Because Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is an RPG, you choose what to equip your character with, and new equipment can be found or purchased in the game.
You can expect turn-based battles in Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers that require some level of strategy, deciding what moves to use and when to defeat your enemies. Each character has special moves and abilities that can be deployed to do this. You should also expect to have some level of freedom, but not complete freedom. While playing, you can explore most of Clocknee however you want once you get past the tutorial. But Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is not an open-world game, and Clocknee is made up of determined streets and paths which you can only use. Finally, you can expect a heart-warming story that is appropriate for the entire family to enjoy.

Story
Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is set in the town of Clocknee, a beautiful town surrounded by forests with a huge castle at its centre. The game opens on December 31st, 1999, just before the turn of the millennium. You step into the shoes of a 9-year old girl named Sherry who lives with her mum on the outskirts of the city. The two are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sherry’s father, who has been away with work for the past six months. When he doesn’t show up in time for dinner as promised, Sherry and her mum decide to head downtown to see the fireworks and welcome in the New Year along with everyone else in Clocknee.
But when the countdown for the year 2000 begins, something very strange happens - everyone freezes! Time itself seems to be entirely stopped, with fireworks still hanging in the sky over the castle and no movement from anyone. Well, anyone except Sherry and her mother. The two are then attacked by hostile machines and become separated trying to return home. Confused and scared, Sherry wanders into her father’s office only to discover a secret basement with a robot named Isaac inside. Isaac promises to help Sherry find her mother and figure out what has happened to the town of Clocknee - and Sherry just might unravel her father’s secrets along the way.
Gameplay in Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers consists of exploring the town of Clocknee (mostly) freely, purchasing and upgrading equipment at shops, interacting with NPCs, and turn-based combat. As you explore the city, you can uncover a lot of different districts, shops, and more. You can find and collect new equipment, water orbs to change the character’s outfits, money, and stat-boosting items. Plus interacting with NPCs can provide you with useful tips and sometimes free items as well. You can upgrade the equipment on all of the characters in your party, and the robot Isaac especially can be taken to tinkerers to upgrade.
As for combat, Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers uses a traditional turn-based battle system. You can see the order of character’s turns on the side, which is useful for planning out your strategy. The game waits for you to make your decisions, so there is no reason to feel stressed or rushed as you plan your next move. Any character in your party can be knocked unconscious, but if Isaac is knocked out, then you will lose the game. Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers emphasizes creating a strategy that both uses Isaac to your advantage while also protecting him from taking too much damage. Each character has unique weapons and special abilities that they can deploy in combat. The enemies in the game are all automatons, and it is up to you to figure out why they are attacking Clocknee.
