Mimi is possibly the most controversial pick, as you either completely adore her or hate her. She’s that character that definitely walks a fine line between child-like innocence and judgmental ignorance. These two versions of her stem from two important aspects of her. One she has been pampered her entire life so she doesn’t really understand the concept of getting your hands dirty. Two, she simply says whatever is on her mind without thinking about how it might make others feel. Sincerity is her crest after all, and learning how to better express herself is one of her main challenges. Nonetheless, in general, her expressions and mannerisms shed a sense of lightheartedness to the show and her sense of fashion is on point.

Leomon is the guardian we all hope to have in our lives. He is strong, capable, reliable, and nurturing. When you’re first introduced to him, you will immediately understand just how righteous and caring he is. Essentially, he’s chasing down the Black Gears, which transform friendly Digimon into fiends, in order to end this nightmare. From beginning to end he’s fighting the good fight to ensure the safety of all kindhearted Digimon. On top of that, he quite frequently acts as a guide and safeguard for our band of heroes in their earlier stages. In fact, he pays the ultimate price when he decides put himself in front of Devimon in order to give the Digidestined time to escape.

Gomamon is Joe’s companion Digimon and to deal with Joe’s constant worrying, he plays the role of the fool. To clarify, he’s plays the role of the jokester to take people’s mind off of what is troubling them at that moment. As such, Gomamon is consistently trying to crack jokes, spin puns, and act as adorable as possible in order to lighten the mood and get Joe to stop freaking out. Even when he fails in his attempts, people would be hard pressed to say that they didn’t actually enjoy it, because he’s such a perfect mix of goofy and delightful. As a result, his carefree nature is simply so pure that whenever he’s on screen it’s hard not to watch him closely as you never know what he will do next.

Despite being the most angsty of our young heroes, Matt was still able to win over the hearts of many. No, it’s not just because he’s quote on quote the “cool one” nor that he has one of the most highly regarded, fan favorite Digimon: Gabumon. Matt is extremely relatable in his struggle to forge friendships. He has his own ideas of what is right and this leads him into several conflicts with Tai. Thus, his character profoundly accentuates the pain of constantly comparing yourself to another. Who hasn’t dealt with such emotions? However, when not getting into a debate with Tai, he’s able to demonstrate a lot of patience and care. We see this most poignantly with how protective he is towards his younger brother, TK. Nonetheless, we also see extraordinary kindness and loyalty when dealing with the accident prone Joe and the troublesome Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon. On top of it all, the guy can play the harmonica like a pro and is able to express his feelings through music powerfully in the end

Tai, as the face of the entire first season, obviously captured the heart of practically every person who watched the show. His fashion sense and hair are probably the first two things that come to mind for most viewers when thinking back upon the series. However, it wasn’t just his style that earned him a lot of fans. He is bold, courageous, sensitive, and caring. Though he stumbles once or twice, he learns quickly from his mistakes and does his best to take into consideration the concerns, fears, and abilities of each member in his party. It is this trait of his that allows him to be the leader and makes him worthy of the trust, respect, and adoration of teammates and fans alike.

As Matt’s partner, Gabumon portrays exactly how a true friend should always act. He listens and sticks with Matt no matter what the situation is. Always the voice of reason, Gabumon is Matt’s personal guide to better understanding others and becoming a true team player. His words alone are able to pull Matt out of his self-pity, because Gabumon intimately understands Matt’s inner fear of not being able to compare to Tai, especially in the eyes of his younger brother, TK. It’s this type of insight that makes Gabumon such a beloved character in the eyes of anyone who has seen the series. Plus, he has one of the coolest character designs in the entire show.

These two come as a pair because they were essentially one and the same. Despite, working for Myotismon these two earned themselves a ton of fans. If you haven’t watched the show and are wondering how antagonists became so lovable, then let’s just sum it up with hilarity. Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon decide that they are more interested in exploring the human world and having a good time instead of trying to destroy our heroes. Yeah, they pull some pranks, but they are harmless and simply want to have a night on the town. They even befriend Matt and TK, and they end up turning on Myotismon in order to protect their new friends. In the end, these two within the span of an episode were able to defy expectations and become fan favorites.

If you watched the first season, then Wizardmon’s name shouldn’t come as any surprise on such a list. Besides his disheveled, scamp-like appearance that makes you want to bring him home and nurture him, he has one of the most heartbreaking storylines. His narrative first runs parallel to that of Gatomon’s: worked for Myotismon and acted as an antagonist for our heroes. However, we soon find out that the only reason why he’s working for Myotismon is because Gatomon’s there, and he will do anything to stay by her side as she was his first friend. That’s a loyal friend. Then he takes it further in one of the most dramatic moments in the entire season. When Myotismon directs a fatal attack at Kari and Gatomon, Wizardmon jumps in front of it, sacrificing himself to protect them. This act was one of those moments that simply put Digimon to another level.

The girl held the crest of “Love.” How could she not be included on this list? Sora really is the mother of the group. She is extremely protective towards everyone, especially little TK, and knows exactly what everyone needs to hear and when they need to hear it. She just has that maternal instinct about her, and it’s really hard not to like her. It’s these qualities that have her protecting and taking care of the group even when she has technically left them in order to properly assess her inner conflicts. Each time she secretly pulls some strings to help a fellow member out, it’s reminiscent of how moms see everything like they have eyes in the back of their heads.

These two were kept as a pairing, because instead of acting as foils to one another with slightly differing personalities, they are essentially one entity. They are the babies of the group and as such can’t help but be absolutely lovable. They are kindhearted, trusting, caring, protective, and innocent to a fault. They also have the cutest expressions that will make just about anyone go ‘awww.’ If your heart doesn’t sigh when you see their eyes water up in tears, then, apologies, you must be heartless. Despite their relative weakness compared to the other members of the group, both also have the courage to take a stand when they need to. This inner resolve of theirs in addition to every other little thing about them, just pushes them far beyond the rest when it comes to lovability. They are the supreme underdog duo of the show and it’s glorious to watch them grow together.

This list will start off with a female who initially has no male sex organ. Kana is a curious high school student who heard rumors of a mysterious DVD that curses anyone who watches it. She decides to take it home and see what all the hub-bub is about. It’s not long before she gets cursed and something ‘rises’ from her that will shock both her and her younger sister Mai. The action starts to heat up in this particular story during the second part of episode one, where Mai sees Kana’s ‘growth’ from the aforementioned curse and is happily ready to take advantage of her older sister's newfound penis. This number eight selection is one of the Valkyrie’s by the name of Grimgerde. She and the rest of the Valkyrie’s are tasked with trying to maintain peace between the realms of the living and the dead. That’s a tall task for any of the four members. Grimgerde just so happens to be the lucky one who gets possessed by a vengeful force and thus gives her the power of the penis. With that new found ability, she is set on a mission to ‘conquer’ her fellow teammates. What makes Grimgerde a fabulous choice on this list in the unmitigated amount of h-scenes she is involved with in the two episodes that this anime presents. How about we give you an anime that is about a group of futanari that form a club, which aim solely to please each other. That sounds like things could get messy! Once Sara captures Sylia, she turns her over to Duke Blankenheim Koushaku for information of the whereabouts of the Sword of Bernstein. Long story short, she falls into a trap and is held captive for sexual humiliation. Sara gets put through an “experiment” which gives her a penis, much to her dismay. Sara is very prideful and despite the Dukes plans to humiliate her, she doesn’t crack. Her character is very strong-willed and after her experiment she becomes well-endowed in both the upper and lower half of her body. Her cold personality and creepy demeanor is enough to keep her embed in the minds of many hentai enthusiasts.

Introduced in 2003, shortly after the end of the NESTS story arc, Ash served as a new kind of addition to the series but also causing unfortunate consequences to the status quo. In relation to the story, he wants to take the powers of Kyo, Iori, and Chizuru and actually took away Iori and Chizuru’s powers for a brief period! Despite his rather feminine design, he is rather powerful and his confidence is reflected in his relaxed stance with hands at his hips. Like Kyo and Iori, he wields the power of fire, but emits a green flame. Due to how he positions his hands, a majority of his generic attacks are based around his devastating kicks And lets arsenal of projectiles do the bulk of the bulk of his dirty work.

Initially introduced in Art of Fighting, King has been a continuous mainstay in the King of Fighters history. In her initial debut, her design (and name) was intentionally meant to hide the fact she was truly female! Story wise, this was meant to have people take her seriously as a fighter. She skills led her to work as a bodyguard for Mr. Big and these circumstances initially introduce her as something of an antagonist, but later turns to Ryo’s side and even falls in love with him. Despite his stance being influenced by Muay Thai, the technique to her kicks in which she extends her leg like a boxer’s jab as opposed to swinging them is more related to the French martial art of Savate (where she is originally from) and the acrobatic techniques she uses tends to be more related to Korean martial arts. Many of her techniques can be used applicable in all ranges which is what makes her a great character to play as.

Introduced in King of Fighters ’99, K’ (initially assumed to be a clone of either Kyo or Krizalid) became one of the most central characters to the NESTS story arc of the series. It was later revealed he wasn't a clone but in fact infused with Kyo’s DNA which gave him his family’s abilities to use fire. Unlike other previous heroes such as Kyo, Terry, and Ryo who share dark pasts, K’ tended to be more withdrawn while the others tend to be more outgoing. Like Kyo, K’ hones the power of fire. Initially, Kyo (along with Iori) was supposed to be removed from the roster and K’ would become the official main character, but the idea was dropped but continued to play a very important role. Due to his personal background, in addition to coming across as anti-social, his hostile personality is also reflected in his fighting style which comes across as rough but not feral like Iori. Due to having the Kusanagi blood in him, as stated earlier he uses fire in his attacks and he comes at his opponent to finish them. It has been observed that some of K’s attacks are influenced by Bruce Lee. The way he positions his hands are rather wide in his stance (complimenting his lanky frame) and it allows him to have more mid-range to long-range attacks.

Next, we have a character initially introduced in the Fatal Fury series, Higashi Joe. Despite being Japanese, he was raised in Thailand and trained in the national art of Muay Thai. In addition to his realistic mid-range attacks based on the science of eight limbs, Joe has a few tricks up his sleeves such as the hurricane upper which is a huge hurricane made from an uppercut. Ever since his debut, though some Fatal Fury characters are written out and never heard from again such as Axel Hawk, Joe along with a small number of characters continue to be a popular mainstay in the King of Fighters legacy. In addition to his devastating attacks, Joe’s appeal also ranges from his provocative taunts. In some versions such as 1998, you can use the taunt button to moon the opponent.

Ryo is another long mainstay who debuted in another prequel series, Art of Fighting. Ryo was initially influenced by Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter due to being a karate fighter that shot fireballs. Due to this, when Capcom made the Street Fighter Alpha games, the rival company made the character Dan as a spoof of Ryo’s fighting style and get up making him a joke character in that regard. But beyond that, Ryo’s Kyokugen-ryu Karate (influenced by Kyokushin Karate) is close ranged and relies on rapid fire combinations. Whenever they connect, they appropriately deliver high numbers on the combo meter and do devastating damage. Training in his family’s art from a young age, in addition to that dedication to perfecting his technique, he preserves his family’s honor and has refused all deals to use his skills for evil. Later on, he was introduced as a secret final boss in Fatal Fury Special and as a hidden character. It is speculated that this addition was what influenced SNK to cross their franchise and create the King of Fighters series.

The original bombshell of fighting games is the scantily clad kunoichi herself, Shiranui Mai. Introduced in Fatal Fury 2, Mai dazzled gamers with her exotic beauty. In fact, her (in)famous breasts were influenced by 1990s Japanese gravure model Hosokawa Fumie and her butt was a homage to one of the original idols of adult entertainment, the late Iijima Ai. When the games were released in the US, her outfit had more added to it and other movements had to be stopped in some places. In the games, she was played by Sogi Akoya, a Japanese actress, and in the Fatal Fury anime, she is voice by Sailor Moon herself, Kotono Mitsuishi.

The original boss of South Town himself, Geese Howard. Most of his fame comes from the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting games but he had a few good appearances in King of Fighters himself. The only main KoF appearance he has in the ’96 edition as a member of the boss team. However, he was also brought back later on in ’98, Neowave, Maximum Impact, and a small handful of others though his role in those games are not as grand as they were in the initial franchises he debuted in. The thing about Geese is that he is the original SNK boss that paved the way for the rest of the bosses of the franchise. The thing about SNK fighting game bosses, they are HARD! Even on normal mode, they tend to be hard and Geese (well, also along with Hwa Jai from the first Fatal Fury) tend to have an impregnable defense and a devastating offense. To top it off, Geese’s Raging Storm and his grappling attacks feel like instant kills! As for his fate, it has always been debatable whether or not he truly died in Real Bout, but these other King of Fighters game tend to say the contrary. Thankfully his son Rock did not inherit his evil ways and grew up to become one of the good guys, though his ending in Mark of the Wolves says he must join the forces of evil to find his mother. On one last note, one of his most hilarious moments in any game is in Capcom vs SNK when he opens the fight in an intro which he says in a very creepy but hilarious Engrish accent, I sharr stain my hands with your brood.

Just as Ryu from Street Fighter has his Ken, Kyo has his rival in Yagami Iori introduced in the second KoF game, KoF ‘95. Even though Ken and Ryu and more friendly in their rivalry, throughout the first few years of the King of Fighters series, Kyo and Iori were intense rivals due to their families being at war for years. Iori’s fashion sense tends to have a strong influence from Japan’s version of glam metal, Visual Kei (in fact, he was a musician prior the events of the games). Like the Kusanagi family, the Yagami family wields the power of fire but as opposed to being a natural color, their fire is purple. While Kyo is a more refined martial artist, Iori’s fighting style has no restraint and comes across as more feral. As opposed to punching, he tends to use scratch attacks and tends to emphasize on power over technique. All of his attacks have the intends of torturing you and ultimately killing you. To make matters worse, he is also capable having a much darker nature known as Orochi Iori, where he is consumed by the influence of the ancient Japanese God. It takes Iori’s fighting base, and takes it to the ultimate extreme. Despite Iori’s initial intense rivalry with Kyo, he has never really been a villain. After the defeat of Orochi, Kyo and Iori finally put their blood rivalry aside and they have become more like reluctant allies (and Iori has a very bad history of being a team player after what he did to Eiji and Billy and it is spoofed in an intro between Iori and Billy in KoF ’98). Though Kyo had his own story released on an RPG, Iori actually happened to have his own story told through a drama CD. The drama CD tells how Iori once had a woman who loved him but couldn't be with her due to Orochi being within him.

The main character of the franchise itself, Kusanagi Kyo. First introduced in KoF ’94, the inaugural game, like his predecessors (Ryo and Terry from Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury), he is a student of his family’s martial art. Due to his bloodline, he wields the power of fire and his attacks are excellently balanced whether they be close, mid, or long range. Depending on the version, some of Kyo’s attacks can be different. In some versions using the down, down-forward, forward and punch pattern, he can do a long range fire attack, or a fist on fire attack. In addition, after 1998, Kyo forgoes his gakuran and starts dressing in regular clothes a young Japanese man would wear. With his good looks, well rounded techniques, and his various costumes over the years, it all contributes to his charisma and overall popularity. In addition to being the face of the franchise, Kyo is also the star of his own RPG called King of Fighters Kyo. The game takes place prior to KoF ’97 and it is about how he encounters everybody in the franchise throughout his hometown of Tokyo. The game is only for the PS1 and its release was exclusively only in Japan.

First introduced in the Fatal Fury games (though the tournament in those games were labeled as The King of Fighters tournament), Terry served as the main character along with his brother Andy and their best friend, Joe. Terry and his team join the tournament in order to defeat Geese, the host, and avenge their father Jeff. Despite Kyo being the main character of the King of Fighters franchise, Terry still maintains his status as something of a mascot to the SNK brand through many of its merchandise. Like Kyo and Athena, Terry’s fashion has changed over the years. Though initially famous for his red jacket, cap, and jeans, after the release of Garou, he loses the hat and trades in the red jacket for a brown one. Terry’s fighting style is pretty much in a balanced mixed of boxing and Japanese martial arts and his generic button moves are excellent within close range. However, his special attacks are done long range such as his power wave, power dunk, and burn knuckle. However, after Garou, Terry developed the buster wolf (same can dispute his this move came from the anime) which is more of a close range move. Speaking of the anime, Terry actually defeated Mars, the God of War himself! What also makes Terry a great guy is even when he defeated Geese, he demonstrates heart by taking in Rock, Geese’s son and raising him to be a good man.

On the court, Aomine Daiki looks like a member of the Harlem Globetrotters, but off the court, he’s most likely sleeping. When he is first introduced in the thirteenth episode of Kuroko no Basket, he’s lazing around in the gym. Every time Momoi Satsuki, his manager and childhood friend, is sent to look for him, Aomine is sleeping in his usual sleeping place, the roof of his school, Touou Academy, a rising powerhouse in the high school basketball scene and one of Seirin High School’s biggest rivals. As Touou’s star freshman, Aomine always looks intense on the court, but then we see this endearingly drooly face, hinting that this force to be reckoned with has another side to him. After deciding to quit practicing basketball, because it made him too awesome, Aomine finds himself with little to do but enjoy the occasional adult magazine and sleeping on the roof, when he should be practicing. He even sleeps through the warm-ups of Touou’s first game against Seirin, arriving fashionably late. Regardless, in that first game, Aomine really put his money where his drool is: He dominates the court. Still, sleeping through practice would soon be his downfall in the Kuroko’s second season, when Seirin returns the favor in the first round of the Winter Cup.

Kagome was really having an otherworldly experience after she fell into the Bone-Eater’s well and ended up in feudal Japan, but her silver lining would come in the form of a silver-haired half-demon with pointy dog ears. Not exactly his face alone, this whole scene looks simply idyllic. Inuyasha has been sleeping for fifty years after being bound by a sacred arrow shot by his first love Kiyoko. Arrow and all, he’s still there in mint condition. Oh my, who is this peaceful and enticing young man stuck in a tree with overgrown vines? Be still my heart. If Kagome was sure she was dreaming after she climbed out of the well, she must be thinking her dream is about to get really amazing right about now. We concur that playing with those ears is the only correct thing to do in this situation. Unfortunately, after Inuyasha wakes up, we find his personality doesn’t exactly match the fantasy we were making in our minds, but he will win over our hearts eventually.

Ao Haru Ride, produced by Production I.G, looks really polished for a shoujo anime. A really comfortable and heartfelt slice-of-life romance, Ao Haru Ride gives a really pleasant high school story about a love that started as an innocent childhood crush between Yoshioka Futaba and Mabuchi Kou. Yet, the two are separated before any confessions could be made. They are brought together again in high school, but they soon learn they are completely different than they were as little kids. While this might sound like an angsty ride, Ao Haru Ride tends to fit in a little humor every now and then, including this particular scene in the ninth episode. Kou isn’t doing so well in his studies, but he thinks his friends are being too intrusive when they worry about his grades. Early on a Saturday morning, his friends call to let him know they’re having a study session at his house. Kou is still half-asleep, but he wakes up with the stark realization that he didn’t lock his door. Obviously, he doesn’t make it in time, and his friendly invaders are already at his front door.

Ichijou Ryouma fell in love with Sena Izumi, believing that Izumi is a girl. We have to admit, it’s an easy mistake to make, considering he was dressed like a girl and playing the role of a girl. Ryouma later learns that Izumi is actually a boy. Ryouma is quick to think his love is now impossible, because he never felt that way about a guy before, but the seed of love has already been planted! Ryouma’s heart skips a beat or two as he gazes on Izumi’s cute sleeping face, and we don’t blame him, not one bit. With his doubts are obliterated, Ryouma realizes his strong romantic interest in Izumi. Izumi is a quintessential cute boy, complete with striking eyes and a little flush in the cheeks. Although he can be overly nervous or easily upset, Izumi is generally very cheerful and happy in his own little otaku world, which is centered on an equally cute and cheerful 2D magical girl Lala-Lulu. His dreams, though, start to have less magical girl and more Ryouma, as Izumi also falls head over heels for Ryouma in this modern boy’s love classic.

Oh, yay! Two for the price of one! This scene is truly what fujoshi dreams are made of. Matsuoka Rin and Nanase Haru are childhood teammates turned high school rivals, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still friends. In Free! and its second season Free!: Eternal Summer, we get to peek into the lives of these competitive high school swimmers as they take on each other and navigate adolescence. By the end of Eternal Summer, Haru is all but lost, overburdened by what to do with his future. On an impromptu trip to Australia, Rin is trying to help Haru find his dream in swimming. Rin booked a hotel room for them, but they front desk made a mistake and they have to sleep in the same bed! After settling in, they have a quick heart-to-heart about how Rin sees Haru. The little chat is very eye-opening about Rin’s character, and the situation is almost too much to bear.

Nagi no Asukara is a beautiful anime about people who live under the sea. The sea-dwellers, however, have to get along with normal people who can’t live under the sea. Nagi-Asu is a supernatural slice of life with a heavy dose of romance. The art is simply amazing, from the saltwater-worn town to the gorgeous underwater scenes, it sure is a thing to look at. As expected, such an eye-friendly anime would have a good sleeping boy, or two, or three, and at least one really awe-inspiring sleeping girl. The characters of Nagi-Asu have the type of eyes that viewers get lost in. Hikari, in particular, has “stormy” eyes that really portray his strong connection to the sea. No, he doesn’t sleep with his eyes open, but that’s the amazing thing. Even though his money-makers aren’t even shown, this scene is super touching, as it follows a long night for Hikari and Miuna, his future step-niece. Having trouble accepting Hikari’s sister into her family, Miuna runs away. Hikari promises his sister that he will take care of Miuna, and he and his friends cheer up and reassure the young girl. The two end up sleeping outside, and Miuna returns home the next day after the all-night pep talk. Great job, Hikari, we are so proud of you!

“Wake up, boy!” Shh, shh, no, I’m just kidding. Stay just like that, just like that. Phew, that was a close one. Still, not even Dazai Osamu’s catch phrase from Bungo Stray Dogs’ trailer would be enough to snap Nakajima Atsushi to the land of the conscious. Atsushi always wakes up in a sleepy-eyed, delayed-response manner that is just too sleepily adorable for words. First, we’re scolding Dazai for interrupting Atsushi’s beautiful rest, and then we’re thanking him for prompting a sleepy-eyed revival. Considering Atsushi passes out after using his supernatural ability, we’ll be seeing more of this unconscious face for sure. Much like Sena Izumi from Love Stage!! and Hikari from Nagi no Asukara, Atsushi’s eye design is unique and interesting. It’s amazing that these boys still look perfectly complete even with eyes closed tight. Atsushi is shocked to learn of his devastating hidden secret, but the Armed Detective Agency, a group of supernaturally gifted crime fighters, gives a boy a hand, and they put him up in company housing. Atsushi gets his first sleep under a real roof since the orphanage kicked him out. As a result, we get this angelic close-up of a very interesting character design that just whispers “peaceful,” in a not creepy way at all.

The manga artist for Gangsta, Kohske, really likes drawing this guy sleeping, and we are so thankful to her! Worick Arcangelo is one half of the Handymen, who do odd jobs for police, mob bosses, and every day people. Their jobs can range from delivering medication to wiping a troublemaking gang in this small city ruled by organized crime. When he’s awake, he is teasing his partner Nicolas Brown or their secretary and roommate Alex. A sweet talking pretty boy gigilo, Worick always has something to say. When he’s asleep, the poor guy is haunted by tragedy in his past and often awakes suddenly from nightmares. Lucky for him, there’s usually an attractive woman around when he stirs in his sleep. As Alex comes across a shirtless sleeping Worick in Episode 3, she lets out her true thoughts: Worick is attractive when he isn’t running his mouth. Still, we love the guy asleep or awake. Just when he’s asleep, he looks amazing. How does this man exist in anime?! How come there aren’t more like him? Kohske, please keep drawing Gangsta. Somebody, please make Gangsta Season 2!

In every way an entertaining experience, the semifinals for the Spring Tournament Qualifiers against the indomitable Aoba Johsai was packed with action, emotion, and suspense. We laughed. We cried. We briefly rooted for the other team. We really fell in love with the other team’s player. We came back to Karasuno’s side and cheered. What’s a team to do after such an energy-draining pursuit for victory? They sleep on the bus, of course! It truly is a peaceful moment as Coach Ukai gives a heartfelt thank you to Take-chan… Sensei. Wait a minute, Kageyama Tobio, what’s with that face? What on earth are you dreaming about? Granted, the sleeping expressions of all the players in this scene are great. Ryu and Nishinoya are leaning against each other, and Tsukishima took off his glasses. He took off his glasses! Kageyama is the lone player still super tense after his match up with his former senpai. Is he still dreaming about when Oikawa gives him such a hard time? Is he dreaming about Hinata’s screw-ups? Is he dreaming about the next season when they face Shiratorizawa? We really wish we could peak into Kageyama’s brain and find out what’s stressing a boy out so much in his sleep, but it’s probably volleyball. It’s always volleyball, and that kind of dedication is admirable.

Tanaka-kun is a master of lethargy, if there is such a thing. His spirit animal must be a sloth, a very cute and sleepy sloth. That’s saying something, because sloths are already super cute. He isn’t your normal anime protagonist. He’s not energetic. He’s not even cheerful, but he’s winning high school life in his own way. In the opening scene of the series, Tanaka-kun is dozing off under a tree, taking in all of nature. If you haven’t taken a nap under a tree with a sweet and subtle spring breeze, you really should try it. It is divine, and we believe that Tanaka-kun also has found some enlightenment in the power of sleeping. Later in Episode 1, we find Tanaka-kun having a small problem with dozing during the perfect time in study hall after finishing his homework. He can’t feel the breeze from the window, because he is too far away, and other students are blocking the window a little; but when they move away from the window, Tanaka-kun is more than ready for full-bodied relaxation. Even though you’re just a sleepy child, Tanaka-kun, you really do have a way to restore faith in humanity in the way you embrace the art of rest.

Hope’s Peak Academy is the nation's most prestigious academy that is dedicated to raising the nation's hope and future. Needless to say, to enroll in here, you have to be the top in your field of studies. Makoto Naegi was ecstatic to be offered a place. However, Makoto had no idea what his talent is. To make matters worse, the school appears to have been taken under control by the mysterious Monokuma. In order to find the truth and survive in the school, all 16 students of Hope’s Peak Academy only have one objective: to kill each other and not get caught. There’s more than meets the eye. Both series captured the essence of an intricate crime perfectly. Both Danganronpa and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney are derived from games. Danganronpa shares many elements from Ace Attorney as well. There is an investigation phase and a class trial thereafter to pinpoint the killer. From evidence gathering and rebutting counterarguments to crime that appears to be unsolvable or simply not plausible. Both animes expertly manipulate the essence of a good mystery plot - suspense and tension before finally bringing everything to satisfying close. This is the closest you will get to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney!

Shinichi Kudou is a brilliant detective. Shinichi is a high school student that occasionally works with the police to solve cases. During a fateful investigation however, he was attacked by the Black Organization and was forced to consume a lethal poison. When Shinichi woke up, he found that he had a body of a preadolescent boy. Retaining his memories and his intelligence, Shinichi hides his identity from those around him. Going by a pseudonym, Shinichi continues his investigative work while trying to reverse the side effects of the poison. Although Detective Conan does not fulfill the courtroom element of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, this mystery anime will give the investigation phase of Ace Attorney a run for their money. Detective Conan is episodic, which means that each and every case is different which is akin to Ace Attorney's style of cases. Conan has a greater focus on the deductions of the detective than on gathering evidence. Whereas Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is more graphical in the sense of evidence presentation, Conan is more of understanding the flow of logic in a simple to understand manner. Till date, this anime remains a hot favourite. If you liked Ace Attorney, Detective Conan is equally easy to understand and fun to watch!

A genius beauty in her twenties with a keen mind and her passionate love for - bones??? Sakurako Kujo is often alone if not for her assistant, Shotaro - a young high school boy. Whenever the duo is together, they are highly likely to run across a human corpse. And here, it is up to Sakurako with her love of bones to piece together the story and solve the mystery. This is yet another mystery anime you should add to your list. Centering on the gruesome crime of murder, the anime resembles Ace Attorney on the investigative aspect. Expect the same level of deductions and compelling mysteries. After all, dead bodies always have a story to tell and it is up to the detectives to paint the full story and uncover the truth.

Meet Aya Tachibana! A sixth grader worrywart. One fine day, Aya joins a group of boys who are all unique individuals. Finding her own place in this clique was hard but eventually, Aya manages to fit in and find friends at last. Here comes a tale of different people with different talents coming together to solve cases. How will this bunch of people cooperate with each other, let alone solve cases? Watch to find out! Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note leans more towards light mystery solving. Don't expect anything outrageous like a murder or an international scandal; they are still middle schoolers after all! If you feel the need to rack your brains like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney but in something more applicable to our everyday reality, Tantei may just be the anime for you! The mysteries in Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note are more of the kind of oddities you experience on a daily basis along the lines of a missing wallet. Due to how easily we can relate to the normalcy of these mysteries, there is a better sense of satisfaction when you follow through the line of reasoning to the outcome. Love the ease of understanding an Ace Attorney case thoroughly? Then definitely check out this anime!

At first glance, you might have the impression that Alice is a closet otaku. Alice has computers all around her, is forever cooped in her room, and has a strange love for Dr Pepper. Despite living a NEET lifestyle, Alice is an astute detective whose specialization lies in gathering information from the web. No criminal is safe from the watchful eyes of the Net, and Alice is the one person that can process this vast amount of information that the Net provides. Shady deals, murders and even illegitimate business are threatened with Alice around. A mystery anime you ought to watch, Kamisama no Menchou is episodic as well and filled with many different kinds of mysteries. Alice shares the intellect of the Ace Attorney who sometimes seemingly pulls out the conclusion and overturning the situation. Although for Phoenix Wright, this is often by luck and bluff. Ultimately, it is up to the detective to speak the words of the dead and bring the truth to light!

Many would ask why the Wind Instrument Club is solving mysteries instead of playing their instruments. Well, the short answer is nobody knows how it ended up that way. After joining the Wind Instrument Club, strange oddities began to appear around Chika Homura and her club members. It is now up to Chika to solve the mysteries that ails the school! However, before that however, she still needs to recruit more members to actually compete in competitions. What kind of oddities are there in the school and how will Chika balance solving mysteries and managing the club? Just like Tantei Team , if you're leaning more towards to the light hearted side of Ace Attorney with just a dash of mystery, we would highly recommend HaruChika as well! The mystery of HaruChika is not as thought provoking due to the easy going nature of the show. It is extremely easy to watch and digest. This, and Chika's somewhat comical nature to develop a cute girl persona will be sure to make you chuckle at the very least! As a whole, this show is all about bite sized mysteries providing an overall plesant watching experience. Like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, it is easy to comprehend and easy to watch!

For those of you who may not know this, New Taipei City is a newer district within the country of Taiwan. Yes, Taiwan. Not Japan. Spirited Away is a movie filled with historic and supernatural references that are Japan’s alone, so why would a town in Taiwan have anything to do with the Spirited Away? Well, after China, under the rule of the Qing dynasty, lost the first Sino-Japanese War, the island of Taiwan was given to Japan in 1895. For 60 years, Taiwan was under Japanese rule. Japan immediately proceeded to expand its empire, filling Taiwan with Japanese customs and even enforcing that the citizens learn the Japanese language! Although Japan did influence Taiwan to a degree, Taiwan is far from being a small Japan away from Japan. Jiufen is on a mountain and often, most of what you will get to see is fog, unless you are lucky enough to catch Jiufen on a clear day, which will give you the full view of the bay in the distance. Nonetheless, do not let that deter you from visiting the mystical area that is Jiufen. The fog can transform it into a magical place! As the day passes, you will be surprised to discover whole buildings appear out of the dense fog several hundred feet from where you stood before!

In the meantime, it might be difficult to see several feet in front of you. Luckily, you can follow the signposts showing you what might be of interest. Try walking through Old Street in Jiufen, where you can explore the many lantern lined alleyways with endless Taiwanese shops, selling things from old fashioned candy to the famous taro balls. Do you remember the lantern lined streets that Chihiro found herself in? Yes, Old Street did help inspire part of the scenery for Spirited Away! If you have ever wanted to be as gluttonous as Chihiro’s parents were, trudge through the narrow streets of Old Street, up the hundreds of stairs up the mountain, to Jishan Street where you’ll find the streets lined with eateries serving all the delicious foods that turned Chihiro’s parents into pigs! Maybe you want to eat like No Face? Perhaps your mouth waters thinking about the candy that Boh devoured. Well, everything can be found on the streets of Jiufen, which is a mixture of Taiwanese and Japanese foods that will have you wish you had four stomachs!

If you’re not quite hungry yet, you may want to explore other parts of Jiufen. One thing you may remember from Spirited Away is the obsession with gold in the staff at the bathhouse. This ties in quite well with the history of Jiufen as during 1893 – 1971, a period in which Taiwan was mainly under Japanese rule, Jiufen became the center of a gold rush in Taiwan. While working under the Japanese, the Taiwanese dug many mines in search of the massive amounts of gold within the mountain, which explains much of the prominence of gold in Spirited Away. Also, some of the gold mines are still open today for the public to explore. Once you go through, you easily find yourself mystified about how quickly your world can change, much like Chihiro’s. You go through one end and find yourself in a whole new area entirely!

One of the most iconic buildings in Spirited Away has to be the bathhouse, whose size and prominence is hard to ignore. It is not quite completely Japanese in style, which is evident, yet not entirely Taiwanese either. Like some of Japan’s shrines, the iconic bathhouse is a blend between two cultures. Most of all, the famed bathhouse of Spirited Away draws influence from the many teahouses in Jiufen, specifically Amei Tea House. Amei Teahouse is a 100-year old teahouse located on Shuqi Road. Amei Teahouse has a blend of Japanese and Taiwanese architecture that we can see reflected in the bathhouse of Spirited Away. The most eye catching detail about this rather large teahouse has to be the red lanterns that hang decoratively from the roof. It is truly a sight to see!

Jiufen can be a very busy town because it has grown in popularity amongst tourists for being the inspiration for the anime movie Spirited Away, as well as the location of the hit Taiwanese movie A City of Sadness. Even on a foggy day, the narrow streets of Old Street are quite crowded making it difficult to walk through! It may be best to start the day out early so that you can explore all the possibilities that this mountainous town has to offer, as well as, the various other sights nearby. Transportation in the area is quite convenient. Taxis and buses are numerous. There is a Gold Fulong bus that will take you to the various sights in Jiufen such as the Golden Waterfall, as pictured above. You can even take the same bus route to go to Fulong Beach, which holds many possibilities for an afternoon of fun! That is, if you have time. If you are in Taiwan, you should always make an effort to try bubble tea in the country that supposedly invented it! Even in the small town of Jiufen, you can find a few bubble tea stalls. Taiwan is known for its milk tea, but there are many different drink combinations that you may want to try. Not a fan of tapioca pearls? Maybe you can trade that out for pudding or jelly, which are great compliments to many bubble tea drinks! When you’re on vacation, you may want to buy some souvenirs along the way. Popular souvenirs sold on Old Street are traditional Taiwanese stamps, very similar to the same stamps that the Japanese use. Although the practice of using stamps in Taiwan are outdated, that doesn’t mean you can’t make one to take home with you. The stores will engrave your name in Chinese characters into the stamp. Most of the stamps sold in the shops are made out of wood. If you have the extra funds, you may want to consider going extremely traditional and purchase a stamp made out of jade, a stone very special in Chinese and Taiwanese culture. You can find a lot of traditional Taiwanese culture in the streets of Jiufen alone.

Rika is a tall, slightly busty police officer with brown hair often seen wearing tactical gear and Ray-Ban sunglasses. She is the best friend, and possibly more than that, to a member of our main group of protagonists Marikawa Shizuka. You even hear her mention her strong desire to go out in search of Marikawa despite her assignment defending the airport. Rika gets too little screen time in our opinion, and that little screen time is the only reason she is at the bottom of our list. She makes the list, though, by being a total badass. She is the chief of the first squadron of the Special Assault Team and an expert sniper. Her calm, collected demeanor as she pulls the trigger and picks off the infected at the airport is just the sort of professionalism you want in an unreal situation with the undead.

Hisashi Igou is another character that doesn’t get much screen time but attempts to make a big impact. He is a tall, handsome and athletic high school boy. He is also the calm, collected type that people seem to turn to for leadership. He is the boyfriend of one of the main cast members, Rei, and the former best friend of another main member Takashi. He proves himself a competent fighter as a member of the Judo club as they find a place of sanctuary in the school. Hisashi Igou is on this list as much for the way he died as the way he lived. You see, Judo, a martial art that involves grapples and throws, is not good for fighting zombies. When you get too close you get bitten. When you get bitten you become infected. This was the case for poor Hisashi and he knew it. So, he begged for help to get to the edge of the school roof so he could fall to his death, before becoming one of “them.” He was willing to face his death like a man and that’s why he makes the list.

Marikawa is a 27-year-old school nurse with 108 cm J cup bust, that’s 44 H when you convert it to American measurements. She is blonde, ditzy and you are left wondering how this girl was able to finish nursing school. She is also extremely sensitive and confused about what has happened to the world since the outbreak. In several ways she’s the weakest member of the core group of protagonists. Marikawa makes the list for three reasons. First for her special skills as a nurse; yes, we did wonder how she passed, but she did pass. Second, her kindness is important to the group, reminding them that in a world where you shoot and brutally smash in the heads of most of the population that not growing cold and emotionless is extremely important in part of holding on to your humanity. The final reason for her to be on the list is the comic relief she brings with her lack of modesty. The two male members of the group often get and eyeful and then some, especially when alcohol is involved.

We know that every group of post apocalyptic survivors in anime needs at least one twin tailed tsundere and Saya Takagi fills that role. Saya is a genius and knows it, she tends to have some issues with people skills because of it. She is shorter than the other two girls her age in the group but makes up for it in attitude and bust size. She, despite his affections, often has a look of disapproval when it has anything to do with Kouta. Saya makes the list for her brains and her ability to use those brains as a way that keeps her fellow survivors alive. She doesn’t cower in the corner like an egghead either, when it starts getting real she locks and loads just like the rest of her comrades. Saya may have a smart mouth and a bit of a temper, but as long as she follows the orders of Takashi Komuro and can bury her attitude when the time comes, she is an excellent asset for the team.

Yuriko Takagi is Souichiro’s wife and the mother of Saya Takagi. Yuriko has purple hair and eyes and, when she isn’t fighting the zombie hoard, wears fashionable dresses that ooze sexiness and wealth. She is also apparently a genius. Yuriko took her smarts to Wall Street and made a small fortune. Then after marrying Souichiro, she made an even bigger fortune for the family. She tends to stay in the background and lets her husband take the lead despite being exceptionally capable. Yuriko makes the list for being capable despite appearing otherwise in the presence of her husband. She is also one of the few parents we see in the story and she acts like a caring parent, in her own way. We don’t see her stand up for her daughter when Saya comes into conflict with Souichiro, but we do see her standing alongside her husband, with a sub-machine gun in hand, in the middle of the compound making a last stand against the hoard and giving her daughter and friends time to escape.

Rei Miyamoto is one of our student survivors. She has long orange-brown hair and when you stop staring at her ample breasts, you’ll notice she has reddish eyes. She is the daughter of a police detective and has made getting to his precinct one of her top priorities. Rei is headstrong yet reliable and trusts the leader of their group, Takashi, on whom she’s nursed a crush since they were in kindergarten. She makes the list for her ability to step up and fight when her back was against the wall. Rei, as a member of the Sojutso Club, prefers spears as her weapon of choice. A spear is also a great choice when you need to fight beyond the reach of your opponent’s teeth. She does eventually upgrade to a rifle, but still attaches a bayonet to it, making it essentially a spear. She seems at first to be the kind of girl you’d have to rescue; though you soon find out she is the kind of girl you find fighting next to you.

Alice is short with pink shoulder-length hair, held in place by a white headband. She also has the flattest chest of all our main characters, which is only appropriate considering she is only seven. Alice was rescued and adopted by our team of high school survivors early on in the series. She maintains a cheery attitude despite seeing the cruelty of the world up close when neighbors refused to open their door and allow her father and her refuge directly leading to his death. She treats each member of the team like an older brother or sister. She has a special attachment to Kouta Hirano, becoming his munitions girl and feeding him ammo while they fend off the hoards. Alice, though an unlikely top 10 member, is on the list because she represents what the students are trying to protect. The happy-go-lucky attitude of the little girl and her refusal to let go of her childhood is one of the best motivators for the crew to survive. The group also has to plan their moves more carefully and not be as reckless for fear of putting Alice in danger. She simply makes them a better team by giving them something to protect.

Takashi Komuro is a 17-year-old high school sophomore and is the de facto leader of our core group. At the outset, he is a slacker who’s nursing a jealous grudge against his best friend for dating the girl he likes. He is the first one in the school to recognize that there is a problem and does his best to get Rei to safety. He is also initially reluctant to kill despite being the one who encourages the others to arm themselves. Takashi is on the list because not simply because of his status at the main protagonist. He also brings much needed leadership to the table, even though it’s not in his nature to command others. We also see his instincts are pretty good when it comes to assessing a situation. His almost reckless need to attempt to sacrifice himself to protect others in their group is an admirable trait. We also wouldn’t get nearly the fan service if we didn’t have him for the ladies to throw themselves at.

Kouta is short, not athletic, and is an otaku. Before the outbreak he’s rather timid and often bullied by royal douchebag/ teacher Koichi Shidou. He seems to be on the route of becoming a NEET after graduation. We are led to believe that his parents are wealthy and connected, giving him the opportunity as a gun enthusiast to spend a month training in America with the American military contractor Blackwater. He couldn’t even get the girl he liked to give him a chance. In other words, his school life sucked. Kouta is one of those people who were reborn in a world of the undead. He makes this list because he excels in the environment. His knowledge of weapons and ability to use them proficiently as a marksman makes him an important asset. He is also resourceful; when we see him create a shoulder stock for a nail gun and then plug zombies between the eyes, we know he will be a killing machine when he gets a real gun.

Saeko Busujima is a high school senior and awesome at kendo; she is the president of the kendo club after all. Her father is also a master in self defense and her family has considered itself to be guardians of Japan for generations. She is tall and has long, shiny purple hair with bangs that sweep over her eyes. She is often found in revealing clothing, be it her school uniform soaked to the point you can see her lace underwear or the scene where she has nothing but a lace apron on but still cooks up a load of whoopass on the undead. Saeko often seems to be the true adult in the group, though she’s only 18. She is kind and caring, although you get the impression she is cold. She’s not; she’s simply reserved and a follower of the Bushido (Samurai) code. Saeko may be the most obvious choice for number one on this list. She is cool under pressure; she is an excellent asset to have in a melee of close-quarters combat you often get in with a swarming enemy. She is one of the most reliable characters, always willing to hold the line, no matter the odds, in order for them to accomplish their objective. Saeko is at heart a maiden, despite looking like a man-eating dominatrix, and a pleasure to watch fight.

She’s smart, strong, capable, and an extremely quick learner. As an inspector, her mental state is rarely ever affected and she works tirelessly to ensure the safety of the population of Japan. How is she, our protagonist for the series, dangerous, you might ask? Well, she is one the few who holds the entire secret of the Sybil system on her shoulders. As a result, she can easily cause mass panic within Japan. Add to that her ability to convince Sybil to compromise, a practically impossible task, which essentially allows her to alter societies on an international level. All in all, Akane’s consistently carrying a loaded gun and it’s only by her good graces and kind heart that chaos doesn’t spread.

Knowledge is power, and power tends to lead to corruption. Now, corruption isn’t necessarily the path that Professor Saiga takes. Nonetheless, his methods of teaching still effectively raise the psycho-pass of his students, which is definitely a problem within Japan’s current society. Though his mind is one to be appreciated and many can argue that his teaching is simply pushing people to think critically, free thought in a society controlled by Sybil will only lead to strife and risk. However, as Professor Saiga has no intention of bringing about harm to others, he isn’t too much of a threat. In fact, whenever he feels his intellect is affecting others in a negative manner, he proceeds to remove himself from the situation. First, he moves into the country once his teaching gig reaches its end. Then when he enables Kogami, he willingly turns himself in for solitary confinement.

Gu-sung Choe is Makishima’s right hand man, and is extremely dangerous to society at large. Though not much of a fighter, Choe is an expert programmer and can hack into Japan’s infrastructure as it greatly relies on data streams. He can manipulate entire rooms in order to disorient police and has a penchant for jamming servers to restrict communications. Due to Choe’s abilities, Makishima’s schemes are able to affect a much larger area. It was Choe, after all, who was spreading rumors online in order to plant seeds of confusion, mistrust, and chaos. Wrapping up his rather incredible feats is that he was the first interloper to fully discover the truth of the Sybil System.

Desmond leads an elite group of mercenaries that can effectively cripple an entire rebel force. They are quick, decisive, and deadly to a degree that few can compare with. However, being mercenaries causes people to view them under various shades. On one hand, working as guns for hire frees them of true criminal intent, and makes their existence merely provisional. They can even possibly perform great good if put in the right circumstances. At the same time, they have no qualms pushing in a corrupt government. Money and possible thrills are what drive this force forward. However, they are definitely a dangerous threat to whoever stands in their way.

This man has the highest recorded Crime Coefficient in existence and is a force to be reckoned with. He is intelligent, strong, manipulative, and only desires to reduce respectable inspectors into criminals. He plays his hands well, and has been able to successfully change the hue of several inspectors to black and thus effectively rid them of their position and/or life. Unhinging someone’s mental state is about the only way he obtains pleasure and has been shown to love torturing creatures since a young age. Admittedly, this aspect of his personality is heavily tied to his upbringing, which in fact brings up his ultimate weakness. He is a mother’s boy to an insane degree, and thus only follows orders from her/Sybil. As a result, his lack of personal freedom restricts the amount of harm he can bring to society at large. His influence can only be felt to a small degree.

The man’s powerful both physically and mentally to the point that he can stand his ground against just about anyone. He’s also extremely charismatic, which allows him to disturb the natural order of communities. It’s his inherent magnetism that brings Akane under his wing and makes her into the powerhouse inspector that she is. It’s also his incredible level of persuasion that enables foreign groups to properly order themselves into a strong resistance faction. Though he rarely poses a threat to regular citizens, he does challenge the status quo, which can create dangerous situations for common citizens. Whether or not it will bring about a better society, insurrection and guerilla warfare tend to to lead civilian casualties and large-scale destruction.

Nicholas Wong is a foreign military colonel with a Crime Coefficient above 300. If that doesn’t spell dangerous then the dictionary needs some editing. Though he portrays himself as a calm and honor bound soldier, he is one of the most malicious schemers in the show. Rather than even try to properly install Sibyl within the Southeast Asia Union (SEAUn), for a possibly better society, Nicholas intends to use it as a means to control the masses as sheep. He wishes for destruction, death, and power; and thus has been planning a coup since the beginning of Sybil’s introduction in SEAUn. With the military under his control and Japan’s war machines at the ready, he could have easily brought about a cruel dictatorship to ravage the region.

As the primary villain of the first season, he is the conductor for a massive amount of social unrest. He’s a silver tongue serpent comparable to John Milton’s Lucifer. This makes him extremely dangerous, because his fight is strongly characterized by his ability to make it seem almost righteous. He’s able to effectively lead people down a path of chaos, cause mass riots through the distribution of his helmets, and uncover the truth behind Sybil. Furthermore, at the end of season one, he is moments away from causing a food shortage that would essentially cause the structural collapse of Japan’s economy. The rise in stress and latent criminals due to such a crisis as well as its consequences (loss of nation-wide self-sufficiency and thus reliance on other nations) would probably have risen to the point that a new government would have needed to be installed. Of course, that is exactly what Makishima desires.

With the physical embodiment of 184 people and mental capacity of seven different people, Kamui finds himself in a position elevated beyond normal society. In fact, he is practically a demi-Sibyl system embodied in one human frame. Add to this, a pure hatred for Japan’s governing body for covering up the plane crash that resulted in his current state and you have one frightening character. Kamui showcases his ability to turn things on their heads by how flawlessly he incorporates himself into society and designs experiences to ultimately coerce or indoctrinate people into his way of thinking. In this regard, he is much like Makashima and it’s easy to root for him at times. Simply put, charisma is deadly in this show, and those who can wield it to their advantage Outside of causing mass murder on several occasions, what brings Kamui to the number two spot was his ability to force Sybil to compromise. He demanded that Sybil must learn to judge itself if it was to represent true justice. The majority of Sybil respected this argument and proceeded to eliminate a portion of its more dangerous minds. However, the amount of change this truly brought is questionable to say the least. and thought process of others.

No one is as dangerous as the Sibyl System as no one comes close to having the same amount of power. The entirety of Sybil might be questioned, parts of its system might be dismembered, minds eradicated, and yet this mental hive controls the entirety of Japan and is reaching its hands into foreign territories. Japan’s infrastructure is currently based around the Sibyl system to the point that exposing its truth will most likely cause the downfall of the nation. Not only does Sibyl have such permanence, but currently maintains individual expression throughout the entire population at an almost robotic level. It is easy enough to argue that the citizens of Japan are held hostage by the current technology to the point that all forms of free thought have been lost. Creating such a dependent society has many risks in the long run as the people have been desensitized to any level of stress and thus communities can easily deteriorate into anarchy when things go wrong. To top it off the system acts as the sole eyes and ears of the nation and carries out justice as it sees fit. It can even bend its own rules, and thus cut out any problematic members of society. Essentially, the entire nation lives solely by the mercy of Sybil. Oh, and let’s not forget that it has its eyes set on the international stage.
