D.N. Angel had a great story line which followed Daisuke, a hopeless romantic that wishes to confess his love to the girl of his dreams. Ultimately every time he tries, he fails miserably having to start over. However, when he gets this overwhelming passion for his dream girl, he transforms into dark mousy, the legendary phantom thief. His mother soon becomes aware of his power, and convinces Daisuke to cause mischief by stealing valuable works of art. As the story progresses, we learn that one of Daisuke's classmates also shares a similar power. D.N. Angel flies in at number 10 due to the fact that the series writer put the entire manga series on hiatus for a couple years before revamping the story again, which left people wondering what ever happened. This took effect in the anime as well, since it didn't really feel flushed out and lots of pieces to the puzzle had been scattered everywhere. Nonetheless a very amusing story, and well worth the watch if you enjoy comedy and action.

Deadman wonderland starts off with a bang as you are thrown right into the pit of the action, as we see Ganta fighting for his life within the first few episodes. Ganta finds himself in the midst of struggle as he is framed for a gruesome crime he didn't commit. His entire classroom is butchered by a mysterious man in red, and it's now Ganta who must find out who this enemy is while at the same time, keeping his head atop his shoulders. The episodes leading up to the finale are nothing short of awesome, with Ganta leaving a bloody mess behind him everywhere he goes, alongside Shiro. The last episode leaves you in somewhat of a wonderland because you're left hanging, wondering what happens to the main character. Unfortunately, there was no second season to this epic tale of survival, but as the manga continues, it is still highly recommend to watch this as it definitely will entice you in every way.

Continuing from the first season of the series, we see more of the main character Nagate, as he continues to explore the galaxy to destroy the gauna, who are threatening the entire existence of humanity. The first season left you in a bit of a blur as we didn't get to truly see Nagate's true potential in his Tsugumori. This cliffhanger lasted for an entire year until this past summers sequel explained in more detail, the effects of what the gauna had done prior. The second season again leaves us hanging on the edge as now we see more character development with regards to Nagate and his crew members, but there is still a huge gap left in the story which leaves you wondering what could potentially happen next for Nagate's future. This anime in general was somewhat of a cliffhanger in itself since it was very under the radar and yet received animation of the year award this past year. Do not sleep on this anime, as it definitely is one to lock onto.

Akame ga kill was one of 2014's most anticipated anime. It was well received among most anime connoisseurs prior to its official release. The reason being was that the trailer really showed off a lot of potential with regards to character development, plot and the overall theme of the show. The story begins with Tatsumi, who becomes the newest member of an assassination group called the Night Raid, which are out to put an end to the corrupted empire run by Prime Minister Honest. As you watch every episode, you are constantly teased with a handful of suspenseful action scenes, along with very well scripted story progression. The end of each episode leaves you drooling for more, as you are left on the edge of your seat with an array of awesome battles. This pattern continues right up toward the end of the series where you are left with an intense battle, and nothing more. The story cuts off abruptly as you are left guessing what happens to Akame and the remaining members of Night Raid. Nonetheless, this is an anime that newcomers should not sleep on and is an anime worth sinking your teeth into.

For those of you familiar with GTO (if you aren't, check out our recommendations section!) and creator Tohru Fujisawa, you'll know that Tohru isn't very shy when it comes to crossing the boundaries and taking risks. In GTO we saw a lot of that with plenty of comedy to back it up. In Tokko, Fujisawa takes a gander in the horror genre as we see main character Shindou, battles off against mysterious demons who are terrorizing Japan. Shindou comes across a female named Sakura, who works for a special task force called Tokko, which then Shindou decides to join shortly after to help put a stop to the terror erupting. At 13 episodes, this comes in around the average mark for typical anime series endings. While GTO had us clapping and at times crying for Onizuka, Tokko came in very strong but didn't seem to explain the significance of the demons, and their existence. Even more scary is how we are left unknowingly as to what happens to the main villain at the end, plus most of the demons are still growing in numbers at an alarming rate. A fantastic anime, which hit the brakes a little too fast.

Favaro!! This is one name which you will hear all throughout this action packed anime. Shingeki no Bahamut stars Favaro, a clueless individual who eventually comes toe to toe with a mysterious and beautiful woman named Amira. The two become very close as the plot thickens to destroy Bahamut. Throughout the story, Favaro meets up with a variety of different characters, all of which play a major role up until the ending of the series. The reason this gets a place in the top 10 of cliffhangers is due to the fact that the story could have played out a lot more to give us a better backstory to the life of Bahamut and Favaro. The series ended on a high note, but we were left screaming Favaro due to the fact that we wanted to see more with regards to putting a complete stop to the onslaught. For those who watched the ending know that there feels like more should await us down the road. Fortunately for all of you Favaro fans, a second second has been announced and will roll out sometime in the near future! Lets hope we can get an exciting tale from Favaro once again.

This is one anime which should never go unnoticed, simply due to the fact that when you hear of AE86, you are quickly reminded of euro beats and Project D. Initial D is one of the animes that will forever be etched in the stone of classics. It portrays a young teenager named Takumi, who goes from a mere delivery boy for his father's tofu restaurant, into an unbeatable street racer all across Japan. His constant battles with various prefecture teams eventually leads him into forming his own unstoppable squad Project D with Keisuke, and his brother Ryosuke. Final Stage drifts us into one of the series most anticipated battles, as Takumi has to go up against the very same car that brought him success: AE86. With only 4 episodes in this anime, we are left at an extreme nail biter, as we never get to see who actually wins the final bout. For manga readers, much of the result is left for you, but the anime left us desperately wondering who crossed the finish line. Highly recommended to watch from start to finish!

All hell breaks loose in this action, ecchi comedy High school of the dead. We are greeted with a story about a massive outbreak that has spread worldwide, leaving every city in a state of emergency. This outbreak leads to a mountain of attacks lead by the living dead, which Saeko and Takashi must team together to eliminate the threat that puts their life at stake. At 12 episodes, Highschool of the dead is nothing short of excitement. The anime puts the viewer into the heart of battle while being pleasantly entertained by bags of fun. We see some solid character relationship between Rei and Takashi, as they begin to show signs of a romantic courting, but often end up running into trouble right before things happen. Much like their romance, Highschool of the Dead ends abruptly, leaving the viewer wondering if these school mates will ever escape the dangers that surround Fujimi High School.

Choosing the number 2 spot out of a bag of potential cliffhanger monsters was not an easy feat, but we are now welcomed with Claymore. In a world where humans coexist with a race called Yoma, much danger is at hand. These violent raging demons wreak havoc on humanity and leave nothing behind. This leads to an organization known as Claymores, to help put an end to all of the onslaught that is transpiring in this action packed anime. We are introduced to both Raki and Clare, who become the main characters to watch, as they work together to destroy the menacing Yoma. Claymore leaves us at a complete halt towards the end of the series, as we are left with a conclusion that makes you want to pull your hair out. At the climax of the series, Clare is prepared to go up against her biggest nemesis which then hits a dead end. With everything up in the air in regards to how the results pan out, it tells a beautiful story that just couldn't race past the finish line.

We fly into the most nail biting, hair pulling, edge of our seats anime in our top 10 cliffhangers. This choice was extremely tough, since there were other very strong competitors such as Code Geass, Death Note, and a few others. However, none of them could really stand up to the behemoth that is Attack on Titan. This anime grew to gigantic popularity in Japan within the first weeks of its official announcement, which lead many anime fans to believe this series was going to be huge. They were not wrong in that assumption. In Japan, Attack on Titan has seen monstrous success, with the series receiving phone app spin offs, merchandising through the roof, and billboards everywhere. There is no mistake that Attack on Titan has left a mark on most anime fans, as the final episode of the first season left us all at such a cliffhanger, it almost left us with a heart attack. To great surprise, a second season has been announced in 2016 which is exciting for most, but will we ever discover the truth? Hopefully the second season will tell us all.

What would you do for free rent? Kyouhei, Takenaga, Ranmaru and Yukinoji have moved into a glamorous mansion for free. The catch? They have to turn the landlady's niece into a proper young lady. Unfortunately for them, Nakahara Sunako is a gloomy girl who likes nothing more than watching horror movies surrounded by anatomical figures in the dark recess of her bedroom. To add to that, the boys are too bright for Sunako to look in the face or else she gets nosebleeds. Even though Sunako's family isn't quite what you'd call "normal", in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, Sunako's family is one of the best. Her dad's a fierce yet overprotective man who will wrestle a bear to protect his daughter while her mom's the delicate beauty that keeps everything in check. Sunako's aunt is also the type to galavant all over the world on the arm of a rich man, but even with all her carefree activities, she still keeps Sunako's best interest in mind. Sunako's family might be different from everyone else's, but they love each other and that's really all you need.

Hinata Ema's father has suddenly remarried so she does not want to disturb her father and new stepmother, so Ema decided to move into the Sunrise Residence where she finds herself with 13 new brothers. Ema's never had siblings before, but now she has 13 and to top it off, romance is simmering just underneath the surface at the Sunrise Residence. Now, the Asahina family may have their sights set on Ema in one form or another, but overall, they are the family that Ema needs the most. As an only child all her life, Ema is a child who desires companionship, especially when her father used to often leave her alone. The Asahina family is always there to keep her from being alone now. They keep her feeling loved and secure. And when some of Ema's brothers get a little too intimate, Julius is always there to keep them in check! Ema definitely has a great family watching out for her.

Katakura Kippei is a high school playboy without any cares. One day, he comes home to find that his aunt has abandoned his cousin, Yuzu, and disappeared. He knows nothing about taking care of himself, how is he going to take care of a little girl like Yuzu? Now Kippei must man up and learn of the responsibilities of an adult while trying to mend Yuzu's little broken heart. Who would ever count on a teenager to raise a child? Probably no one, but someone Kippei ends up with the custody of his cousin, Yuzu, who's broken hearted after being left behind by her mother. Although they aren't the most conventional family, these two are just what the other needs. Kippei isn't sensitive or responsible, but with Yuzu he learns how to give someone everything, something that he never knew how to do before. To Yuzu, Kippei is the person she can learn to depend on and trust. You can see that there's a lot of love in this family.

Tooru is an orphan who finds herself staying in the home of her classmate, Sohma Yuuki. While they were not that close, she soon discovers the secret of the Sohma clan: certain members of the Sohma clan turn into animals of the Chinese Zodiac when embraced by the opposite sex! She didn’t sign up for this, but Tooru wants to learn more about the Sohma curse and mend the broken lives caused by the curse. Being part of the inner circle of the Sohma clan is a special privilege for some and a curse to others. Although it is creates a caste system amongst the family members, the curse does bring together distant cousins and family members that would otherwise not talk together. In this way, the Sohma clan is closer than a lot of other families. There is a strong bond the draws all of these anime family members together, and makes it so that they can only depend on each other. One might call it a curse, but perhaps it is a magic that makes it so that no one is forgotten.

Lucky Star is an anime that follows the lives of Izumi Konata, the Hiiragi twins Tsukasa and Kagami, and Takara Miyuki. They're just your everyday high school girls living their ordinary lives, but that doesn't mean they're boring! Every day is fun together. Quite truly, the Izumi anime family is awesome. It's an anime family where you can kick back and be yourself without judgment, which is rare no matter how close you are. The Izumi anime family takes care of each other, but still has a blast doing what they like to do. With a father that buys his daughter eroges, a cousin whose a cop and turns the other cheek, and an adorable cousin, Konata's got a great family that doesn't restrict her or pressure her. It's the ideal life, especially for a teenage otaku. Who wouldn't love getting their hands on 18+ material as a teen from their own parent?

Fairy Tail is a powerful mage guild based in Magnolia. Lucy Heartfilia is a 17 year old girl who has left home to join Fairy Tail. Lucy happens upon Natsu Dragoneel, a teenage boy who is battling motion sickness and hunger on his journey. Although she wishes to find "Salamander" who is in town so she can join Fairy Tail, little does she know that Natsu may be the key to joining the mage guild. The Fairy Tail guild is a makeshift anime family with individuals from all sorts of backgrounds. They may fight, destroy towns, and cause a ruckus, but they have got each other's backs and defend their anime family with their heart and soul. Fairy Tail is a family formed with strong bonds made of love and trust. Though they may not be blood related, there not many families out there that you can have as much faith in as Fairy Tail.

Two and a half years have gone by since Naruto left, but he's back in Konohagakure to finish what he started. He's more older and more powerful than he used to be, but that doesn't mean Naruto will have it easy. a lot has been happening since he left. Will Naruto be able to keep his promise and protect the village? The Uzumaki anime Family may seem broken due to the events of the path, but it is a family connected together through strong feelings of love. Naruto may have grown up as an orphan, but he believes in his parents and their goodwill. They protected him with their own lives and entrusted the village in his own hands. They may not have been able to grow up together, but the trust that Naruto, Minato and Kushina is strong. It's not the most ideal anime family situation, but that doesn't mean they aren't one of the best families.

Gon Freecss is a 12 year old boy about to set off on a journey to become a hunter. When he was the same age as Gon, Gon's father had set off on the same journey. Gon is determined to find out more information about his father by following his footsteps, but along the way, he discovers it's not quite as easy as he thought. There is probably no cooler family than the Zoldycks. They are an infamous anime family of elite assassins with power greater than most hunters. Whether or not you think they're loving, you can't ignore how much everyone cares for Killua. His own brother implants a needle into him so that Killua will survive while his father keeps Killua's happiness and best interest in mind. The Zoldycks may seem like a cold and heartless anime family, but they don't hurt others needlessly; they have their own morals. Killua doesn't always agree with his family, but you can tell that they love him and he loves them in their own ways.

Segawa Yuuta had lost his parents as a child and was raised by his older sister Yuri. When Yuri married, Yuuta moved away for university, but when Yuri and her husband go away on a trip, Yuuta returns to watch over Yuri's step daughters. Unfortunately, Yuri's plane goes missing and no one is willing to take in all three girls so Yuuta volunteers to take care of the Takanashi siblings to keep the family together. Not many university students would put their future on the line to take care of their cousins, but Yuuta is unlike most others. He sacrifices a lot to keep his step-cousins together, but they also work hard to make living together a lot easier. They may all have their own things going on, but as an anime family, the Takanashi family is a close one unwilling to part no matter how much they must endure. It takes a lot of work to make everything work together, but these kids aren't the type to back down from what it means to be an anime family.

When Daikichi attends his grandfather's funeral, he discovers that his grandfather left behind a little girl, Rin. Rin is his grandfather's illegitimate daughter and Daikichi's aunt, but her mother is missing. No one wants to take Rin in so Daikichi volunteers to raise Rin. While he doesn't know anything about raising little girls, Daikichi does his best. These two knew nothing about each other, but soon they both teach each other important life lessons. Daikichi knows nothing about taking care of children, but Rin is just what he needs in life. Rin is the special little girl to change Daikichi's life, even if he didn't know it needed changing. It's an unusual family situation, Rin being Daikichi's aunt and all, but they both love each other and isn't that all what matters? Conclusion

Sango is one of the only one of Inuyasha’s gang to have no spiritual or supernatural ability. She succeeds just on her own physical skills, and that’s pretty inspiring. She comes from a village that are trained in fighting Youkai, so Sango’s pretty well experienced when it comes to combat. Probably the best thing about her is her unusual weapon, the Hiraikotsu, a giant boomerang made out of the bones of Youkai. Sango doesn’t really have any special attacks that she can conjure with magic, just a host of abilities, and skills that she’s pretty much mastered at a young age, and I think that’s pretty damn cool.

Maka Albarn is one of the main character’s of Soul Eater, and is arguably, the face of the series. The weapon she uses obviously is the soul of another sentient being, and one of the coolest things about her is her relationship with her weapon. It also helps that her weapon is a giant Sycthe, which is as cool as just about anything you can bring to a fight. Maka’s so endearing, because despite being so young, she takes an approach to everything that’s more serious and focused on thinking out of a solution or strategy, where other characters might just focus on brawns. All of these, plus her awesome design, make her a stand-out in Soul Eater.

Mikasa is regarded as one of Humanity’s strongest soldiers, second only to Levi, who was already a seasoned veteran before Mikasa even entered training. Even as a child, she was already strong, often getting into fights alongside Eren to protect their friend Armin. As a soldier, she has elite reflexes, speed, and the physicality to use the 3D Maneuver gear with such mastery. She’s one of the few soldiers capable of those spinning, Beyblade style attacks which Levi uses. She’s also a great character, full of drive, determination and love, as well as a desire to protect her friends, especially Eren. If titan’s can feel anything, they definitely don’t feel anything remotely good when they see Mikasa coming there way.

It’s sad how unknown this anime and this character is, because they’re equally tremendous. Balsa Yonsa is one of the great female lead characters of anime history. As a character, she’s stern, but not unfeeling, she’s strong, but averse to violence and she’s quiet, but not sorely lacking expression. She has depth and balance that make her feel like a fully fleshed out and realized adult character. As more is revealed about her, we see how much she’s changed as a character already, while already going through the hurdles that Moribito’s own narrative takes her. As a fighter, she can wield a spear like no other, and is capable of taking on multiple, elite-level foes all on at once. If you haven’t, make sure to give this show a watch and give Balsa the attention she deserves.

Sometimes, considering how Berserk plays out, it feels like Casca is seemingly a pawn in events too big for her, or almost any other human being, to comprehend, much less control. But despite this, she really is an admirable leader for the Band of the Hawks when it needs it. When Griffith is out of the picture, Casca steps up and is really the only thing which keeps it from splitting apart. Berserk is a tough, tough world, and not one that’s easy for a female mercenary to garner much respect in, but Casca earns it. At full strength, she can even go toe to toe with Guts, at least for a little while, and even that’s a major feat in itself.

There are many, let’s just say ‘mixed’ feelings to be had about Sword Art Online, but I think by far, Yuuki’s arc is easily it’s best part. One of the best things about it is seeing how the main character of the show, easily one of the most OP in recent Anime History, is actually revealed to be less skilled with the sword than Yuuki, which put’s her, in my mind, as the strongest in the whole world of SAO. Aside from her power-level, there’s so much to love about Yuuki. She’s sweet, she has a wonderful character design. I loved how when, she sought out challengers, claiming to be the best swordsman in the land, instead of a brolic, serious looking guy which the other characters were expecting, she was revealed to be a cute girl who was as tough as anyone.

Kiryuin Satsuki comes from an immense pedigree, as the daughter of Ragyo Kiryuin, that’s matched with an immense dedication, work ethic, and fighting spirit. She worked tirelessly to build her own strength and gather allies for a purpose she’s given herself so early in life. Though her methods are totalitarian, her intention is a noble one. She’s an incredibly strong fighter who can only be matched by Ryuko and Ragyo. Satsuki’s one of the few who can don a Kamui, and she’s an incredible opponent when she wears Junketsu. She’s the face of human excellence and her statement ‘ask not the sparrow how the eagle soars’ echo’s her own greatness.

Erza is the strongest and most intimidating in all of the Fairy Tail guild, much of it due to her serious and fearsome demeanor. She’s cunning, incredibly strong, exceptionally capable with a sword and is also an extremely strong mage. Her magic, re-equip magic, allows her to switch armor and weapons which fit the situation she’s in. For example, through the re-equip magic, the black wing armor she uses enables her to fly, or the adamantine armor gives her immense defense and armor. She has over 100 armor sets and 200 weapons under her command, and an amazing mahout-shoujo inspired transformation sequence!

Claire Started off as the weakest of the Claymores, but utilized her talents to far surpass her original strength. Her one initial strength is her excellent senses, which enable her to feel the presence of Yoma, the ghoulish enemies in the world of claymore, far before her compatriots. This sense enables her to read the attacks of Yoma before they even happen, and when she concentrates on this ability, she can defeat Yoma which outclass higher-ranked claymores, including the awakened beings. The further along in the series, the stronger she becomes and the more abilities she masters.

Saber is one of the most powerful Heroic Spirits in the Fate-Verse. As Artoria Pendragon, Saber was a fabled leader of men, who commanded brilliantly and always fought in the vanguard of a battle. As a servant, she’s near unparalleled at full strength. Unmatched in swordplay, she wields Excalibur, the famous blade of Arthurian Legend, which boasts extreme power. Saber has insane reflexes, lightning speed, resistance to magic and, though hindered in both the 4th and 5th Holy Grail war due to injuries or an incompetent master, she still is capable of going toe to toe against any other servant.
