Who it Caters to

Are you someone who enjoys indie games with an adventure aspect as well as a deep story that hits you right in the heart? To those who have said yes, then here’s an interesting game for you. The Thin Silence follows a man named Erza as players guide him through a torrent of puzzles and dark emotions. Each step taken will divulge a little bit more about Ezra’s secretive past and why the world he lives in currently seems almost lifeless. The Thin Silence is aimed at telling a story for players that invest themselves into this melancholy world. Those who think this sounds appealing will want to continue reading what else we have to say about The Thin Silence.

What to Expect

The Thin Silence is an indie adventure title where you must solve puzzles and explore the world around its main protagonist. Find various clues to help understand Ezra’s world and guide him through this destitute landscape. Solve various puzzles using items that you can craft into a multitude of tools that will help navigate and pass through treacherous areas. Prepare yourselves though as Ezra’s tale isn’t one for those of weak constitutions. The Thin Silence isn’t for anyone suicidal and/or suffering from depression as the game makes painfully aware from the minute you boot it up. If you can handle a dark tale filled with a hope that exists at the end of the tunnel, then you’re going to want to enter the world of The Thin Silence.
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

In The Thin Silence you control Ezra Westmark a man who has been through what can only be seen as hell. Enter Ezra’s journey as he faces off against his inner demons as he strives to recall his past. What happened to cast Ezra so far into the depths of despair? Can Ezra escape the solicitude of his heart or will his depression and failings bring his soul to a crashing stop? Only you can find out as you struggle to move forward in The Thin Silence.

Gameplay

When The Thin Silence—a game made by developers TwoPM Studios—started up, we read the warning message that appeared. This message essentially warns the player that The Thin Silence isn’t for those who are suffering suicidal or prone to mental depression. That alone made us very curious as to why The Thin Silence warns players of this so early on. After our nearly 5-hour trek, we finished The Thin Silence and understand why the early warning was important. The Thin Silence is a game that explores a reality that while fictional, is pretty sure to be relatable to many gamers out there. However, that doesn’t explain how The Thin Silence handles its actual gameplay and even a game with a strong story needs that to match with good gameplay. That’s why we here at Honey’s Anime wish to talk about our experiences with this dark but emotionally impactful game in our review of The Thin Silence for the PC. The Thin Silence is a pretty simple game to explain. Players guide Ezra across various landscapes. Along the way there will be story elements seen from Erza’s past as well as numerous trials and tribulations to go through in the form of puzzles to solve. The Thin Silence does the story elements perfectly well with an ending that truly made us almost tear up and look towards our own personal battles in life. However, the gameplay for The Thin Silence does have some good points and some equally weak points. Let us first talk about what makes The Thin Silence so good and save the bad for last. First let’s discuss the visuals and music for The Thin Silence. While The Thin Silence goes for a very simple art design, we didn’t think it was weak in the slightest. The environments for The Thin Silence pop with strong definitions and setting pieces that carry the story well. Likewise, The Thin Silence has an excellent soundtrack that keeps every dark moment and intense sequence stronger with fitting ambiance and musical tracks. The Thin Silence might not win best graphics for 2018 but likewise, it’s a charming design that works well to not distract from the exploration and story. Speaking about that, the exploration and puzzle solving for The Thin Silence is incredible for the most part. The Thin Silence is a 2D exploration title where players move either left or right to get from one end of the screen to the other. Along the way, you’ll encounter lifts that need to be recharged or strange blocks in the road. Players can’t do much with Ezra as he’s almost incapable of jumping a centimeter high and can’t interact with most things without a tool in his hand. Here is where The Thin Silence gets interesting; across the game’s world are numerous items like boots, hooks, ropes and other random items. These items can be combined together via a simple three-point item wheel that can even allow already combined items to be combined with even more things. These tools will then be used to either grab far off platforms or climb ledges. When you get further into The Thin Silence there will be more puzzles to solve—even some rather simple computer puzzles that are fun but tedious—where you will need to figure out what set of tools will help you proceed the best. What also helps The Thin Silence is that for the majority of the game, puzzles stay fresh and exciting. Often, we here at Honey’s Anime HQ had to stop and think what our next move would be. There is a reset button that will allow players who might have made a mistake with moving a boulder in the wrong area or such that makes messing up not feel too painful. The worst part will be when you have to reset in the later areas of The Thin Silence as some of these places can be huge areas to re-trek through. That though leads to several issues we came across while playing The Thin Silence. The late game puzzles and the fact that The Thin Silence lacks a run button. We understand that The Thin Silence wants players to breathe in Erza’s world. The idea is that you experience both his moments of weakness and his rare moments of strength fully which would be lost if you just ran through each area. However, The Thin Silence is a bit overly slow as everything from lifts to climbing takes a considerable amount of time to accomplish. Add to this the fact that later puzzles—which become repetitive and tedious—often have you moving around in a room for several minutes and you’ll see that The Thin Silence should have had at least made movement slightly faster for Ezra and the puzzles around him.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

The Thin Silence is a dark story that truly enters your heart from beginning to end and never let’s go. If you invest yourself into this 4-5-hour experience, then The Thin Silence will have a story you might relate to. The Thin Silence equally will keep your mind working as you solve numerous puzzles that range from easy to a bit difficult. Our major issue with The Thin Silence is that while playing, it can feel a bit slow due to the inability to run and the occasional repetitive puzzles you will find sewn throughout. Overall though, The Thin Silence for those of a strong spirit has a powerful message to send and it does so within a solid indie title. If you like slow and emotional indie adventure games then we fully recommend checking out The Thin Silence.

Honey's Pros:

  • Strong narrative that has a lot of real world emotional themes and concepts
  • Clever crafting system that truly makes for some unique puzzles
  • Wonderful soundtrack that captures each moment perfectly
  • Simple but solid art style

Honey's Cons:

  • Can be very hard for those of weak spirits as it states in the beginning
  • Really needed a run button to speed things up
  • Repetitive puzzles towards the endgame

Honey's Final Verdict:

It’s not often that a game like The Thin Silence comes along with such a powerful ending message and a fun adventure. While The Thin Silence might suffer from an overly slow pacing and somewhat annoying late game puzzles, out experience while playing was one of wonder and awe. Honestly, we at one point couldn’t put down The Thin Silence and that in our minds means for an experience that is more enjoyable than most titles. Are you going to download The Thin Silence when it releases or are you thinking it might not be for you? Will the Black Butterfly help you find love?

Game Info:

  • System: PlayStation Vita
  • Developer: Idea Factory
  • Publisher: Aksys Games
  • Release Date: April 27, 2018
  • Price:$39.99
  • Rating: T for Teens
  • Genre: Visual Novel, Otome Game, Adventure,
  • Players: Single Player

Who it Caters to

From the wonderful publisher Aksys Games comes Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, the latest Idea Factory game to be released on the PS Vita, proving to fans that the PS Vita has not yet reached its end. Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly contains quite a lot of mystery with romance being only a side dish to this rather intriguing game. Whether or not you are in it for the plot or the boys, we’re sure you’ll find something in this game that might be for you. If you are a fan of visual novels, otome games, or mysteries, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly is a game for you.

What to Expect

Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly features a branching storyline with many endings. Of course, your choices do matter to get the endings of your choice. One feature of Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly allows you to go back to old chapters that you have already played through. If something went wrong somewhere, you can always go back and try again. Like many visual novels, be prepared for a text heavy game, although there is some actual gameplay involved outside of just making choices. Variously throughout Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, you will get to fight against the black butterflies, too. If you are tired of the usual visual novel that only has text and a somewhat linear story, then Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly might be a refreshing breath of air for you.

Story

Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly Trailer

http://mmpr.com/MMPRFTP/FTP_Folders/AksysGames/Psychedelica_Black_Butterfly/PBB_Trailer_OP1_Pre.mp4
The main character’s default name is Minato Ai and she awakens inside a large mansion unaware of who she is and why she is in this strange place. Before she can go about trying to recall her own name, Ai is suddenly attacked by a strange monster, which causes her to flee. While Ai tries to figure out her own predicament, she will come across a few boys who find themselves in the same situation as her. Will Ai be able to figure out what is going on in the background or will the possibility of love distract her?

Gameplay

As we stated earlier, since Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly is a visual novel, a majority of the gameplay is text based, so it’s not for those who do not enjoy reading. However, one nice thing about Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly is the lock and shoot gameplay that is featured every few chapters when you have to fight a monster. All it involves is clicking the screen to lock onto a black butterfly and pressing the shoot button to eradicate them. This really helps to break up the monotony of the text based gameplay, although we really don’t believe the story is all that mundane at all. This mini game is only a small side dish as it doesn’t actually occur that often, but the point is to allow you to earn points that you can use to unlock memories or short side stories. Sometimes you will have to go back and replay the mini game a few times to earn enough points, however you can also skip the game entirely for a smaller amount of points. Whether you play it or not is up to you, but it’s a rather easy mini game compared to other games. A lot of the story really revolves around trying to unlock your memories and building relationships with those around Ai (you). You actually do not have to make choices for a good part of the beginning, and even then, your meddling is minimal. The story is quite interesting as certain things are hinted at, but nothing is outright revealed right away. You just have to keep playing to see if your guesses are right. Like we stated in the previous paragraph, you will use the points you earn from the shooting mini game to unlock memories and side stories. If you haven’t bothered unlocking them, the game will make you unlock them. You aren’t even forced to unlock particular ones, but you will have to play through a few of them to progress the story at certain parts, and they are generally really cute. You may think the side stories are inconsequential, but the characters will reference certain stories from time to time and they will provide some clarity as to the importance of some things. Some of the side stories will also unlock a CG! Storywise, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly contains a lot more plot than actual romance compared to other otome games. There’s no way to track your romance with other characters, but it’s clear that they all have some sort of attachment to you regardless of what route you are on. Being the only girl, Ai gets a lot of attention on all sides. All the same, though, the focus of the game is on you attaining your memories and trying to form bonds with these people you find yourself with. The game itself is reminiscent of The Nonary Games where you are attempting to break yourself free while finding out about the people around you, but story-wise, it reminds us a lot of Sweet Fuse: At Your Side, which had some of the best story telling in localized otome games. As you find out more about the boys around you, you really feel for them and not in a trope-moe way. While the characters follow very set tropes in otome games, they feel very real with extremely realistic problems and complications in their lives, which made each of the stories rather enjoyable as they unlock more and more of the plot. Even the main character, Ai, who follows that rather overdone otome game perfect-in-every-way character does not get boring. It actually works well with the setting and we can see why the boys fall in love with her. Unlike other otome game main characters, Ai can actually take care of herself and even when she is lacking in some skill, she works hard with very minimal interference from the boys. Often times, we found ourselves empathizing with her as we understood some of the emotional struggles she was dealing with. Probably one of the most surprising features outside of the shooting mini game has to be the fact that Minato Ai is fully voiced, which doesn’t occur too often. Of course, if you prefer your main character to be bland without any real presence, you can turn off her voice, but that’s up to you. It’s a bit stranger, too, that the other characters will call out her name Ai in flashbacks when the name can be changed, but we stuck with the default name so we’re not sure how this will affect others.
With all the branching storylines, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly has made it extremely easy to track your progress and all of the side stories and memories in the game by providing you a flow chart. At any point in the game, you can go to the flow chart and see exactly where you are and how the story branched off. If you die, it’ll specify that you got the bad ending, and if there was a particular story that is important to a particular character, you’ll see them linked to that chapter. That being said, it’s still easy to get lost with all of the branches, but it makes for a more organized approach to this game. One thing that is advertised really heavily has to be the artwork, and upon playing Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, we’d really have to agree. The bright colors appear even more vivid against the dull backgrounds making CGs and gameplay beautiful to look at. It’s very clear why they are so proud of it. We even really appreciate the character designs as there is a lot of detail involved in everyone’s design. There is no place in which this falters. However, we think that something that Aksys Games should have advertised was the soundtrack. While we wouldn’t say it’s one of those ones you want to jam to, the music in Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly was perfect for setting the mood at certain parts of the game and helps to evoke the right type of emotion that the game is trying to get from you.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

As far as otome games go, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly has to be one of the most well thought out games out there. While it does have its faults, it’s still a very enjoyable game to play regardless if you’re interested in the romance or not. If you want to play it for the romance, you will find yourself fairly disappointed, but the plot is well developed with plenty of things happening that keeps you from being bored like if you were playing a regular slice of life visual novel. The characters break the mold and the other details for Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly really suit the game well. As an added bonus, the staff did a great job proofreading it so that there were almost no errors that would break you out from the story. Overall, we have more positive things to say about the game than negative and hope you enjoy it, too.

Honey's Pros:

  • The focus is on plot with romance being a subtle side dish
  • Beautiful graphics
  • Almost no grammatical or spelling errors
  • Great soundtrack
  • Well-developed plot
  • Fun characters that really outdo others in the same tropes
  • Likeable main character with personality
  • Well throughout and organized flow chart
  • Fun mini game

Honey's Cons:

  • Low on romance

Honey's Final Verdict:

Thank you for joining us here at Honey’s Anime for yet another look at a great game that’s on the market. Hopefully you have gained some insight about whether or nor Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly is for you. If you are interested in the game, love otome games, or love reverse harems, be sure to let us know in the comments below! And of course, be sure to check back in with us again.

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is an updated version of the 2016 Megadimension Neptunia VII title. Once more we join Neptunia and her friends as they find themselves in the Zero Dimension, which is about to come to a close due to an onslaught of dark CPU forces. Joining Uzume Tennouboshi, Neptunia and her sister Nepgear, the two must fight to save Zero Dimension before it’s too late. Meanwhile, another strange event is occurring outside Gamindustri where a portal has opened leading to our world! The player—which is you—will now be able to meet the Goddesses and interact with them as they learn more about you. Saving a world and meeting Goddesses… Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is definitely bringing you on a wild ride to say the least.

Gameplay

In 2016, publisher Idea Factory alongside developer Compile Heart released Megadimension Neptunia VII. While it wasn’t perfect and had some flaws here and there, Megadimension Neptunia VII was yet another solid entry in the long running series dating back to the PS3 era. Now in 2018, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR arrives on the PS4 as an updated version of the 2016 title with added VR gameplay. We here at Honey’s Anime were given copies of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR and we immediately jumped in to see what has changed in this new version. Join us now as we discuss our time spent with this rather long running franchise in our review of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR for the PS4. We’ll assume you’ve played the other Megadimension titles, but in case you haven’t, we shall explain what’s going on here. Players control Neptune, a goddess living in the gaming world of Gamindustri. Here, various gaming consoles—based loosely off the consoles in the real world—are represented as worlds and are ruled by each goddess. Megadimension Neptunia VIIR follows Neptune as she gets involved in a new gaming world—Zero Dimension—that is on the brink of disappearing due to a battle brewing. The story for Megadimension Neptunia VII hasn’t changed much though so if you played it in the past, you’re going to know what to expect in Megadimension Neptunia VIIR. Now with the base synopsis out of the way, let us talk about the gameplay. Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is a turn-based JRPG with the usual mechanics returning from the series. You’ll enter battles when you touch enemies on a map and/or if an event dictates a fight and from there you use several of the girls and maneuver them on screen to hit the enemy with attacks. The big element of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR—just like the past titles—is that each girl has a dual form that changes their appearance and allows for heavy attacks and special moves. With Megadimension Neptunia VIIR, the biggest changes come in the form of a revamped battle system from Megadimension Neptunia VII that allows combos to be set during battle and new moves that can be unleashed on the enemy. We won’t say these changes are groundbreaking, but they do help Megadimension Neptunia VIIR feel slightly more polished than the original version from 2 years back. Another change from Megadimension Neptunia VII is that everything in Megadimension Neptunia VIIR looks sharper. Enemies have stronger visuals, characters look updated and Megadimension Neptunia VIIR runs super smooth. We played for several hours and aside from one or two crashes—this was more during the VR segments though—we never ran into framerate drops and issues like we did in Megadimension Neptunia VII. Megadimension Neptunia VIIR doesn’t look extremely impressive as the graphics for the series are beginning to show a bit of age, especially during the special move sections. Overall though, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR looks and runs significantly better which we can’t complain about. Now, let us dive into the biggest addition to Megadimension Neptunia VIIR and that is the VR element. We have some good things to say as well as some bad things. Easily, the most celebrated element of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is the VR addition. During some sequences or when in the “Player’s Room,” VR allows for players to interact with the cute goddesses of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR. What is good about this is that you get to see Vert, Neptune, Blanc and other girls in VR as they interact with you wearing their quite revealing clothes and just make you laugh with their funny banter. Players can react to the goddesses by making motions with their head in yes or no maneuvers, and the reactions of the girls will change as you do this. Play more of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR and you’ll unlock more events for the VR as well as more items to customize your room in game. Unfortunately, while having the girls in VR is cool, that’s about all you can enjoy in Megadimension Neptunia VIIR’s VR mode. There isn’t much to do here aside from ogle at the goddesses and just customize your room. We wish the main game of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR would have utilized the VR element in some way but it doesn’t. All you do is stare at girls and occasionally respond with simple movements…that’s it. What’s even worse is that staring at them reveals a rather sad truth about the girls of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR…they look strangely out of focus. We tried messing with our headset settings but for some reason, all of the girls just had blurry visuals that really add to our ho hum experience with the VR portions of Megadimension Neptunia VIIR. Maybe a future patch will fix this but for now, don’t expect the girls too look perfect.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR might have added a VR element and some slightly updated gameplay mechanics/visuals but for the most part those who have played the original Megadimension Neptunia VII—which came out in 2016—might feel this is an unnecessary title. Don’t get us wrong, folks; we still like Megadimension Neptunia VIIR as it’s a solid JRPG with a solid turn-based style—which has been revamped for the better— and tons of cute gaming related dialogue and homages. Yet, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR doesn’t add much beyond the VR portion and thus if you trekked through the original you might feel that asking $59.99 for a slightly updated version isn’t really worth it. However, if you did miss out on Megadimension Neptunia VII then playing Megadimension Neptunia VIIR will be perfectly fine as it’s a solid entry in the series as a whole. Here at Honey’s Anime we recommend Megadimension Neptunia VIIR only to those who are diehard fans of the franchise or really love VR anime girls…which we understand why you of course would.

Honey's Pros:

  • Graphics and framerate have definitely been improved
  • Still retains that classic franchise comedy
  • VR segments are usually filled with funny dialogue and moments
  • Voice acting is still solid regardless of English or Japanese settings
  • Turn based combat has been improved in many ways

Honey's Cons:

  • Basically, this is Megadimension Neptunia VII with just enhanced graphics, updated battle mechanics and VR elements
  • Speaking of VR, could have added some more things to do with it
  • Blurry VR visuals which is strange
  • Not the best Megadimension story
  • Can be quite wordy and dialogue heavy

Honey's Final Verdict:

Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is at a whole a solid remaster/update—whichever you want to call it—of the previous entry we say two years ago. While the VR elements are neat and it’s cool to see the girls in this spectrum, more could have been done with the VR to warrant this basically full price update title. Those who missed out on Megadimension Neptunia VII though will no doubt love Megadimension Neptunia VIIR and we think even those new to the series will enjoy this solid JRPG. Are you planning to pick up Megadimension Neptunia VIIR when it releases in May? Let us know down in the comments below. This is your story. This is a story from inside your body. On average, humans have approximately 37,000,000,000,000 (37 trillion) cells in their body according to recent theories. In the world known as a human body, today too, these cells continue to work without rest. Red blood cells carry oxygen, white blood cells fight against bacteria… There, they have their own drama that we do not know about.

  • In a surprise announcement from Kadokawa today, Adachitoka's manga Noragami will resume monthly publication starting in the July edition of Monthly Shounen Magazine due out June 6th.
  • A second announcement followed that the 19th bound volume will go on sale on August 17th this year. The manga has been on hiatus since May of 2017 due to Adachitoka's ailing health. The author took a year off to recover and it seems to have paid off.
  • Noragami has received two anime seasons which have been well-recevied by the anime community. Maybe that means we could be looking at another anime season now that the manga is back!

  • Last week, we brought the news that the second Gintama live-action movie, titled "Gintama 2" was due out this summer. The announcement also brought information that the same main three actors for Gintama, Shinpachi, and Kagura will return.
  • Today a teaser trailer has been released. It's not even twenty seconds long, but it does have very small clips–from what we assume is the second movie–if you pay very close attention.
  • Yuuichi Fukuda is back as the director and Hideaki Sorachi will be working on the script again. No further information has come out yet, but stay tuned for more as a new trailer should be released soon.

[Fujoshi Friday] Top 5 Manservice Scenes in DIVE!!

$
0
0
[ad_top1 class="mb40"]

For those who liked Free! for its swimming boys and burning friendship/rivalries, DIVE!! is like a younger version of everything you wanted and may or may not get you in trouble. While both shows involve wet guys with 12-packs glistening in the sun, DIVE!! has an added edge of danger that comes with throwing yourself from tall platforms and hoping you land without hurting yourself. If you think you're safe just because you're landing in water, you've clearly never bellyflopped from even 5 feet above. Not only is there lots of drama and danger but many, many abs for your viewing enjoyment. Ok, so an anime about mostly 14-17-year-old boys may not seem like the manliest of manservice-y shows, but they do their damndest. You can tell that Tomo, Yoichi, Otani, and the others at the Mizuki Diving School are serious athletes by their sculpted bodies. And with these dedicated boys practicing constantly in their little speedos, you get to see quite a lot. So if our younger audience is looking for boys their own age to fawn over, here are our top 5 manservice scenes in DIVE!!

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

5. That's one way to stand out (S1, Ep. 4)

[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

When Yoichi's self-proclaimed rival, Yamada, is invited to practice with the MDC boys to get them fired up for competition, he shocks us all with his bold statements and daring wardrobe. In one move, he removes his crazy yellow outfit to reveal a neon pink speedo which has earned him the nickname Pinky. Sure, all the muscley men are wearing speedos but Pinky's COMMANDS attention. The camera pans up from his bright pink crotch and captures his chiseled body and snarky face. He turns around and his butt cheeks stick out jarringly from the small but powerful pink as he says 'Burn this image into your mind.' We hate to watch him go, but love to watch him leave... up to the diving board! Once in position, the camera pans over his powerful shoulders, tensing slightly as he prepares for his dive, strength focused down to each individual finger. While he seemed silly mere moments before, his display of control reveals the serious diver underneath the flashy exterior!

4. Powerful in both spirit and body (S1, Ep. 9)

[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Okitsu provides us with a lot of great looks at his stunning body. The lifestyle of a rough and tumble guy who throws himself off cliffs into the raging sea below is reflected in every single ab. In this scene, we not only get a great look at his physique, but into his inner thoughts as well. Knowing Okitsu won't be able to perform at the Olympics, Tomo asks his older friend if he regrets coming back to the MDC. As they both climb higher to the summit of the diving board, we get to see a lot of the guys' stunning bodies. Okitsu confidently tells Tomo that he has no regrets. He's found diving to be fun, and more importantly, diving with Tomo and the others has become important to him. Before diving into the pool, he turns back to Tomo with a charming smile, the rays of the sun shining on his perfect form. This confident, happy contrast to his usual pouting is both inspirational and sexy! He then graces us with a perfect handstand using those arms that could hold up the sun itself. Such a difficult move looks so easy for him and it's no doubt those muscles are more than just for show. He almost effortlessly dives into the pool below causing another tremendous splash. While such an entrance won't earn points with the judges, it sure scores points with us!

[ad_middle class="mb40"]

3. Birds of a feather dive together (S1, Ep. 4)

[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Okitsu is quite the lone wolf among the members of the MDC, but one brave man is not afraid to approach. The scene starts with Fire Jiro's butt entering the frame as he walks to the pool's edge. We get a nice look at his powerful back and you can see he works out, even if his dives imply he doesn't know what he's doing. Okitsu's shining wet head peers out of the water up at the extended hand of Jiro, who is smiling at him, entranced with his dynamic diving. As he squats down towards Okitsu, we can see his whole chiseled body and you know with one good pull he could easily lift Okitsu out of the water. Disappointingly, Okitsu does not take this hand of friendship and keeps shrugging off Jiro's words. Jiro is certain he and Koitsu are the same. Perhaps their thinking is different, but both are large, dark-haired, explosive divers. Maybe next to Okitsu’s, Fire Jiro's diving isn't so hot, but walking side by side, they are quite the pair of dashing, muscular men.

2. Actions speak louder than words (S1, Ep. 3)

[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Wow, who could have foreseen another scene with Okitsu! Upon meeting Okitsu, very little is known about him and he doesn't seem keen on sharing any details of his private life. He won't even talk about what diving means to him. While we see people dive all the time, Okitsu's first dive is special because of just how much the scene focuses on his body before he jumps. The scene starts with panning from his feet all the way to his head, his whole manly body on display! As if that's not enough, the view comes back down to the abs and is now even closer. His muscles now show up in more detail and hint at the powerful dive Okitsu will unleash on his audience. Tomo is mesmerized and he says 'Look at those muscles.' Oh, we are, Tomo, we are. After a huge leap into the air with a resulting huge splash, his chiseled body is now dripping in the afternoon sun. Once out of the pool, he brushes his wet hair back bringing his burning gaze into more focus. Everything about this scene speaks to Okitsu's mighty aura and we can certainly feel it!

1. The bathing suit portion of a male pageant (S1, Ep. 11)

[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

As we near the final competition to decide which of our accomplished athletes will be representing Japan for the Olympics, we get even more speedo time than ever before. We don't just get to see more of the MDC boys we're used to seeing, we get to see the other hopeful Olympians we've met throughout the anime as well as other muscle-bound boys in the background. Instead of standing around, the guys are stretching and flexing and posturing up to each other. All near-naked guys getting cocky about their abilities in the most fun and inspiring way. We get another close up of Pinky's crotch only to see he's traded his 'loud' swimsuit for a more subdued brownish hue. We again get a sweeping angle from his crotch to his face so our eves can trace over each carefully trained muscle. More nameless guys continue their stretching and stripping down to their speedos. Then we are blessed with a view of Okitsu's back and we can see the muscles tensing in his back before turning around to old pal, Fire Jiro. Only this time, the two very much seem to be on the same page. Joined by Tsuji, the three banter about who will be the winner, enjoying their friendly rivalry. With such good feelings combined with competitive spirits and so many well-built figures, this scene truly has it all for those in search of manservice.

Final Thoughts

In a world where fanservice (primarily girls in provocative positions and less than practical attire) is so common, it can be hard to find something that caters to those who appreciate the male form. Sure, shounen-ai and yaoi have their own appeal, but not everyone can enjoy two men getting it on. Maybe you want to think of these guys as being available for yourself! Or maybe you simply want to appreciate their hotness without anything sexual being in the mix. Sometimes it's nice to have some decoration and you don't need to think about it beyond that. Whatever floats your boat or dives your dive.... we hope that you've found what you're looking for in these 5 Manservice Scenes in DIVE!!

When you have it all in life, people will always look at you with some form of envy. They see you as a star shining brighter than the normal folk surrounding your presence. However, Peach Girl, by mangaka Ueda Miwa, taught us a truly important lesson in life that we need to remember, especially if we envy the so called “beautiful”. Just because they might be truly blessed with beauty and charm doesn’t mean they are feeling that way within themselves. It’s easy to envy what we don’t have, but it’s harder to realize what we do have and take for granted folks. Proverbs aside, Peach Girl is one of those manga that truly wowed us when it released two decades ago and even now, we still talk about it. That’s why we also found ourselves wondering this. What other manga mirror Peach Girl in some form or another? Well folks, after some research we found several manga that will be perfect to compare to Peach Girl and will be perfect for you if you need some solid shoujo themed manga. Welcome one and all to our 6 Manga Like Peach Girl list!

Life by Suenobu Keiko follows Ayumu Shiiba as she begins her journey towards high school. Thanks to her friend Shii-chan, Shiiba is studying and thinking she might have what it takes to do well. Unfortunately, Shiiba gets her wish and does extraordinarily well, but in the process, overshadows Shii-chan causing their friendship to die out. These turn of events causes Shiiba to fall into a deep depression filled with hurting herself to unleash the pain. High School life finally begins for Shiiba and she meets a new girl named Manami. Can Manami save Shiiba and prove to be the friend she truly needs? Life by mangaka Suenobu Keiko seems like a perfect place to start our 6 Manga Like Peach Girl list. Life tells a truly deep story of loss and gain in the realm of friendship. Similar to Momo’s trials of learning who her lifelong friends are versus those who betrayed her—essentially her best friend Sae Kashiwagi. Shiiba undergoes a trial of learning who won’t abandon you no matter what. Life touches upon a lot of themes found in Peach Girl and it’s why we loved the series and know you guys and girls will too. Life went on for 20 volumes for a reason, folks; time to find out why by checking out this amazing shoujo manga.

Poor Yaya Higuchi is dealing with a slew of rather harsh peers in school. Yaya sees these cruel jokes and names as what it means to be a friend but the reality is that her friends abuse this innocent girl. Enter Yaya’s new friend Nana. Unlike the overly kind and naïve girl Yaya, Nana is tough and brutal. Nana and Yaya seem so different in every way right? However, unbeknownst to most these two girls are actually the same person! Momo, in Peach Girl, can be considered a girl who puts on a front to hide her dark and depressed personality from her peers. Othello might be slightly different in the form of having a girl literally embody two personas but this also is what makes the two stories so similar in nature. Yaya’s persona of Nana is her way of lashing out towards the “friends” who are treating her so badly, but in a way that is rather unique for a shoujo story. Peach Girl, meanwhile, has Momo using her outward appearance to fool people into thinking she’s fine and just perfect but struggles with letting the real personality she hides deep within out. Othello might be not as well known than Peach Girl but we hope you’ll check it out as we think you’ll love Yaya’s tale.

Hiyori Fujisaki really likes Mizuno Yuuma but the two are separated by different classes. One day, a seating change occurs and she ended up sitting beside her longtime friend Sasamoto Karen. However, Hiyori is about to learn something interesting about her friend. Sasamoto might think of Hiyori as more than just a childhood friend! Who will Hiyori now choose!? Our own school days had numerous amounts of drama but love triangles didn’t happen often. Yet, when we did experience them, it was very interesting to see a typical manga/anime theme come forth in the real world. Thankfully, our days at school are over and now, for love triangles and drama filled romances, we turn to manga like Kare wa Tomodachi. Hiyori’s quest for love will bring her towards two very potential candidates and you won’t want to miss who she ultimately chooses. If you loved Peach Girl for its drama fueled romance—which it had a lot of at times—then check out Kare wa Tomodachi from mangaka Yoshioka Ririko.

Ai Maekawa has always been a girl less concerned about her looks and more about her studies. In some ways, this has made Ai stand out as a smart student, but it also made her a target. During Ai’s middle school days, she was terribly embarrassed and used that experience to reinvent herself. Undergoing a complete makeover, Ai no longer is just a nerdy looking girl but a drop dead gorgeous girl! Aiming for handsome boy So Ichinose, Ai must mind the line between being beautiful and also being kind. Sometimes in life, events will make you realize a change is needed. Just look Ai Maekawa, for example. Ai, in the beginning of Doubt!!, realized that changing her looks wouldn’t just change her personality but give her the strength she needed to change her life more than anything else. We personally love Ai’s tale, here at Honey’s Anime, as it reminds us of Momo’s transformation in Peach Girl as she understands what friendship and admiration really look like. Doubt!! by mangaka Izumi Kaneyoshi might be an old manga read but even today, it’s one heck of a good shoujo story.

Karin Karino has just realized what it means to fall in love as she begins to befriend Kiriya Aoi. As their relationship continues to grow, animosity begins to bloom as well. Karin’s classmate Yuka Ishikawa begins to try and foil her love with Aoi and their romance begins to be tested. However, Aoi’s love for Karin might also be a scary prospect as well. Can Karin find a happy ending to this love story or will it become a tragic tale of love loss? Being envied for her looks, Momo had to deal with some rather harsh problems in Peach Girl. Though as Momo’s inner persona became revealed, her situations changed and she found happiness as the story progressed. Kare First Love mirrors Peach Girl in many ways taking our main female lead—Karin—who never tried to be the popular girl and now has become one because of her decision to fall in love with a guy who was already targeted by another. In this non-stop rollercoaster ride of emotions, Kare First Love will make you want to binge read Karin’s story to see if she finds the love she truly desires. If you need an intriguing romance/drama manga then we recommend checking out mangaka Miyasaka Kaho’s work known as Kare First Love.

Touzuka High School isn’t known for being a prestigious academy but for another reason; The high school itself pumps out pretty detestable grades. After getting into a fight with a teacher, Kawai Maria has been thrown from the very well-known school—St. Katria Girls School—and into Touzuka High. Already Kawai is getting under the skin of her peers and is growing hated more and more by the day. What awaits Maria in this new school and what transpired to cause her to be so cold? We end our 6 Manga Like Peach Girl with a very similar story—albeit with a twist of sorts—called Akuma to Love Song. While Maria doesn’t attract her classmates like Momo from Peach Girl, there is more than meets the eye with Maria and we learn what that is within Akuma to Love Song. Equally pleasant about Akuma to Love Song is the amazing shoujo art that gives a true style to this tale. From beginning to end, you will be alongside Maria and will soon understand why she has gone from being number 1 in a prestigious school to landing in a way lesser known academy. We fully recommend checking out Akuma to Love Song as we loved our time with its 13-volume run.

Who it Caters to

You are the hero of prophecy that is destined to fight against the evil witch, Mormo, in an endless battle throughout time. Good and evil will clash time and time again. And, it must be you who rises up to vanquish her relentless conquest for world domination otherwise humanity falls into chaos. Fans of action RPGs, roguelike games, exploration, and SNES Zelda-inspired designs and music will not want to miss this game. It's been such a long time since we've played a game that contains elements of so many excellent titles from the past while not taking itself too seriously. Swords of Ditto marks Onebitbeyond's first entry into the video game world. Their motto is short but concise: focused on creating unique gameplay experiences for consoles and PC. Even though this is their first title, they've managed to strike a perfect balance of engaging gameplay, unique experiences each time through, and a narrative that is self-aware and uses that to its advantage. This is game that classic action RPG fans needed but didn't know they were missing.

What to Expect

As soon as you jump into The Swords of Ditto you'll feel right at home. You're woken up by a guide who tries to remind you of who you were in a past life. You race to collect the legendary sword that marks the return of the Sword of Ditto (you). As soon as you touch it, your power returns to your body and your memories come flooding back. This is when you realize that you must strike down Mormo lest she takes the world and plunges it into eternal darkness and chaos. You'll fight through underground layers, find ancient ruins, learn about the gods that inhabited the world, collect artifacts, level up your stats, and accumulate mini-quests all while preparing yourself for the final showdown against Mormo. It's a tale as old as time. The hero rises up to confront the ultimate darkness in the world. But, The Swords of Ditto uses roguelike elements to make this game fun and refreshing each time you play. Make no mistake, your character will die and cease to exist if your health points are completed depleted. However, you will be reincarnated and be born 100 years into the future. You'll see the ramifications of your absence from the world and Mormo's activities left uncheck. You'll have the chance to continue your journey with experience and levels remaining intact. While you're on this adventure, you'll also have a time limit placed on your activities. You have four days until the destined battle against Mormo and her forces. You'll have to discover various ways to extend time if you hope to collect all of the items and experience that will ensure your victory over evil. Or, for the truly brave, you can skip all of the exploration and questing and head straight for Mormo's dungeon. You can confront her head on if you think you're ready for it. The choice is yours. You decide how the narrative unfolds and how deep you want to explore this game.
The other thing to keep in mind, and it's quite a big detail, is that you can tackle all of the game content with a partner. The Swords of Ditto offers local multiplayer functionality. You and a partner will control two characters who will be on screen at the same time defeating hordes of minions and solving puzzles throughout various dungeons and caverns. The game will create instances and fights accordingly. Puzzles and monsters will be generated for 1 or 2 players depending on how you choose to play the game. We always say, "the more the merrier", so grab a buddy and enjoy the wide range of content that this game has to offer.

The Swords of Ditto - Gameplay Trailer

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOoe464SLoU&w=560&h=315]
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

The basic plot was mentioned up above, but let me flesh it out a little bit more. Mormo is, seemingly, an immortal witch that is resurrected every 100 years to plunge the world into darkness. But, at the same time, a prophesied hero emerges to fight her in an eternal struggle of good versus evil. This heralded warrior is known as The Sword of Ditto. Once the champion for justice emerges and retrieves his magical sword, he has four days to prepare himself for the encounter with Mormo. This is ostensibly a never-ending cycle. These two beings are destined to oppose one another for all eternity. Besides this standard narrative, there are hints early on that the world used to be inhabited by an ancient race. They were known as the Arcadians. These beings had a peaceful empire that gave rise to incredible technology and spanned the entire world. But, eventually, a civil war broke out and almost resulted in the complete annihilation of the human race. A complex system of Trial Chambers was constructed by the Arcadians. They were used as a way to test themselves upon coming of age. These chambers house powerful artifacts known as the Toys of Legend. Thus, they are linked to the Sword of Ditto's unending quest to strike down Mormo.
Though there are archaic runes that give evidence of this ancient empire, there are even older stories of gods who used to live among men. Their connection to the Arcadians and to the Sword of Ditto is not currently known. But, learning about that forgotten period of history may be the key that leads to ending Mormo's reign of terror once and for all.

Gameplay

Now, of course, it's time for the juiciest part of any review, the gameplay. We were quite surprised when we came face to face with Mormo within the first five or so minutes of playing the game. We gained first-hand experience of just how powerful she is and how easily she can decimate us, the Sword of Ditto, if we don't take the necessary precautions. There's a surprising moment that takes place early on. We don't want to spoil it for you, though it's readily available if you've watched or read pre-release playthroughs and reviews. Those "necessary precautions" are standard RPG elements such as accumulating experience, leveling up, increasing your stats with accessories, and finding powerful items. You gain experience as you hack through zombies, floating skulls, venomous plants, and a myriad of other enemies. Your stats are increased once you've gained enough experience to reach the next character level. At the same time, you'll gain access to sticker slots. Stickers are purchasable items that affect your stats as well. They can be as straightforward as increasing your attack and defense. Or they can be more specific, such as receiving less damage from certain elemental attacks or only buffing your character during certain times of the day. The powerful items in this game as known as Toys of Legend. You'll find those after completing dungeons and their corresponding bosses. Lucky for us gamers, all the enjoyable aspects of classic action RPG games are found in this one. There are even side quests that you can find by speaking to NPC's. They're not necessary, the game leaves the amount of investment you want to put in this game completely up to you, but we recommend you take care of these because the rewards are worth it.
Time plays an interesting role in this game. It's constrictive in nature, but not concrete. It can be extended and manipulated if you explore around enough and uncover some secrets. You'll need to accumulate as much time as possible because four days, in-game time, does not feel like very much at all. Time is also used as a means of wiping the slate clean if you happen to die during a playthrough. If your health score drops down to zero you die and start a game all over again. You are reincarnated as a new hero. Your newly reincarnated body keep the toys and experience that you accumulated in your previous playthrough. You will, however, have to unlock new waypoints that are traversable with the help of a magical kazoo so a bit of backtracking will take place. The game will fast-forward 100 years into the future with Mormo remaining unopposed throughout all of that time. The world will change in appearance, different dungeons and caverns will emerge, enemies can become stronger, and other things will have definitely changed since the last Sword of Ditto walked the earth. Starting over doesn't feel repetitive though because of how the game explains your absence and because some things will roll over to your new character once you retrieve the Sword. The music and art directions are nostalgic and upbeat. You'll often hear melodies that will remind you of playing A Link to the Past for the SNES or other RPGs from around that era. The upbeat tracks are not the only ones we enjoyed. There are also tunes that sound mystical yet comforting. The synth instruments combined with the beats can be very relaxing and provide a sense of discovery and awe. We love how when the weather changes and gets darker the music change in mood drastically and I feels very eerie. Each area and scene of the game has music catered just for it that ties in so well with the overall aesthetic and atmosphere of the game. The artwork is simple and definitely cartoony, think of Adventure Time, but it doesn't feel overly childish or corny. It strikes a reasonable balance of classic RPG-inspired designs with a modern twist. Overall, the combination of music and art feels flawless and a joy to experience. Often times, games will have a certain character or stage design that just seems awkward or unfinished. Other times certain art styles can be explicitly jarring to induce a certain emotional effect. We can't think of a recent game where we felt as comfortably engaged and immersed in gameplay as we have with The Swords of Ditto.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

Overall, we had a uniquely enjoyable experience with this game. The gameplay was solid with all of the essential RPG elements. Controls felt tight and responsive. (Not to mention we had absolutely no issues plugging in a PlayStation 4 controller.) The nostalgia factor was off the charts. Roguelike elements were present and handled masterfully. Comedic banter and one-liners were meta and surprisingly made us chuckle a few times. Just remember that this is a Roguelike game. So, don't expect to keep your single character and all of your items for the entire playthrough (at least not your first playthrough). If you do that, you'll have a great time with this one. If we had to pick something that disliked about this game, it would have to be that hit detection felt a little off at times. One enemy type, in particular, gave us a hard time. There's floating trio of ghost heads that are enveloped in energy that injures you if they make contact with your body. Most times, it would take several slices of our sword to deplete their life points. But, a few times our sword just whiffed through the heads and they ended up chunking out our health instead. It was a little bit annoying. Besides that, there's not really much to complain about.

Honey's Pros:

  • Nostalgic feel
  • Tight controls
  • Great soundtrack
  • Essential RPG elements

Honey's Cons:

  • Rare instances of awkward hit detection

Honey's Final Verdict:

If you it isn't perfectly clear by now, though it probably is, we had a blast playing this game. It's one of the best games we've had the privilege to review so far this year. We recommend it to our readers here and to anyone who is a fan of Roguelikes, RPGs, and adventures games. You won't want to miss this one! Thanks again for taking to the time to read our review. Hopefully, you'll let us know what you think of this game in the comments below or by tweeting at us. Have a wonderful day and we'll see you in the next one!

Some people love them, some people hate them; but almost every game has cut scenes. They’re used for a myriad of reasons. Sometimes it’s to introduce an environment, showcase an important event, or greet a new character. A lot of the time they have long, drawn-out conversations that for one reason or another a gamer will simply want to skip through. However, you would be quite foolish to skip through any of the cut scenes on this list. These cut scenes represent the best of the best. They represent everything that a cut scene can be and will definitely make you question ever skipping a cut scene ever again, unless of course you are replaying a game. Why? Well, they show just how impactful these scenes can be when the writing is done right and you are finally given a moment where the characters can express themselves. Yes, it helps that in many cases the graphics improve to cinematic quality, but more importantly you’re getting an in-depth view of the character(s) you have been controlling. Without further ado, let’s get to the top 10 video game cut scenes.

Portal put us in the shoes of a human in a testing center. We are given a portal gun and then put through some tests. Then the facility tries to kill us and it’s our job to escape using the technology we have been given and our wits. It’s a unique adventure that challenges players to view their environment analytically and creatively as they can utilize just about any aspect of it with their portal gun. The gameplay of Portal caught everyone’s attention. It became an instant classic and is renowned for challenging players’ abilities to manipulate the environment. However, it became a cult classic with an intense fanbase due to its ending credits, which basically flip the ending of the game on its head. In song, Glados narrates basically our whole adventure, describing how impressive we were. Yep, we did not kill Glados. Glados is fine and Glados holds a certain fondness for us and so we will get our cake. The remaining question is will we eat it?

Diablo III brings us back to the Sanctuary where we will come face to face with demonic hordes as we try to make our way to the Lord of Terror, Diablo. Like most things that Blizzard develops, Diablo III displays amazing production quality in practically every aspect of the game. This includes the cut scenes and one cut scene that most gamers will remember with ease is the Act II introduction where we bear witness to the confrontation of the angels Tyrael and Imperius. The artwork is absolutely astounding and sets the mood for the game as we realize even the divine beings are experiencing unrest. It lets us know that practically anyone who stands before us can be as likely an enemy as a friend.

God of War III brought us back to ancient Greece and set us against the gods. Nothing quite new there in regards to the God of War series. The only real difference is that number of people on Kratos’s hit list has grown considerably. Essentially every single being residing on Mount Olympus must be destroyed. The God of War series is infamous for its level of gore both for in-game combat and cut scenes. One scene in God of War III outdoes every single other moment though. It really is one of the most brutal moments in gaming history that will be burned into your mind if you ever see it. The killing, more specifically the beheading of Helios is simply disturbing and yet you will not be able to look away. Kratos systematically tears this god apart and cements himself as the most terrifying and ruthless protagonists in video gaming.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance brings us back to the year 1403 when a war is occurring in Bohemia. Our family and most people of our village have been massacred by a band of mercenaries sent by the Hungarian king, Sigismund. That’s why we get involved with a resistance force that is trying to restore the rightful king of Bohemia. Unlike most scenes on this list, the top Kingdom Come cut scene is all about making you laugh. It’s not really dramatic or intense or bloody. It’s about you getting completely drunk with a group of people and one person in your group happens to be a priest. Getting drunk and stumbling around while the group throws around witty banter is pretty enjoyable in and of itself. However, the gold is when the priest wakes up the next day and remembers that he has to give a sermon in a little bit. Well, he’s in no condition, so you’re going to have to prep a service yourself. Best of luck.

Metal Gear Solid puts you in the shoes of special agent Snake. It’s your job to regain control of a secret nuclear weapons base. The Metal Gear Solid series is renowned for many things. It has been one of the best military/stealth games of all time. The game’s cut scenes have played a huge role in the game’s success. This is especially true for the earlier games when the cut scenes were basically the only way for the game to give you insight into the true drama that was unfolding, and boy did those early games have a lot of drama. One of the best happened to come out with the first game. The death of Gray Fox was a moment that defined the series and made this first game unforgettable. The history between Gray Fox and Snake goes way back, from being friends to turning enemies, and in this scene Gray Fox throws away his hatred and saves Snake. That plotline alone is enough to tug at your heartstrings, and yet there’s more. Gray Fox reveals that he’s the one who killed Naomi’s parents, a girl who had considered him her brother. It’s this that type of multi-faceted reveal that has defined so many moments in the Metal Gear Solid series as we discover double agents and other twisted connections.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus continues the saga that gamers were introduced in Wolfenstein II: The New Order. In this game, players are sent to an America under Nazi control and it is their job to recruit the most hardened resistance leaders. This is a game with a lot of impact. Between the graphics and dialogue, every single cut scene is incredible to view. Though most of the scenes are brutal and suspenseful, the best one in the game takes it those aspects to the next level. The scene where BJ and a group of actors audition for a role in Hitler’s movie is terrifying, hilarious, and brutal. Every single movement Hitler makes will send a shiver down your spine. You never know when he’ll decide to pull the trigger of the gun he keeps waving around. However, with every moment of suspense of gore, there’s a moment to make you laugh. The scene will make you question your morals as you’ll probably laugh at one things that is completely inappropriate.

Warcraft III was an epic adventure that few games today can even compare to. It brought us into a world full of strife and tension as the Undead forces rose to threaten every living thing. One of the essential characters you play as is Prince Arthas, who will do anything to protect his homeland…even if that means killing his own people. Though there are plenty of great cut scenes from Warcraft III, the most impactful scene is when Arthas returns home from Northrend, after slaying the Undead forces and claiming the legendary sword Frostmourne at great costs. He essentially betrayed all his allies and sold his soul in order to achieve his victory. We know he’s changed, and yet no could expect him to unsheathe his sword and slay his own father in this scene. This moment basically caused the plot to turn a 180. We were given a clean slate. Anything could happen moving forward as we controlled the Undead. Furthermore, this moment clearly detailed how far Arthas had fallen from humanity and set the tone for the second half of the game.

Mass Effect III brings us into a universe where Earth is being brought down by a race of terrifying machines. Commander Shepard understands how dire the situation is and so sets out to bring the various civilizations of the galaxy together in order to save humanity. The Mass Effect series is one of the best sci-fi RPG series out there. It has captured the hearts and imaginations of countless gamers and a lot of its best moments have been cut scenes. So many cut scenes helped build tension, flesh out characters, and create a dynamic universe. The amount of tension built over the entirety of the series finally comes to a head in the dramatic Battle for Earth sequence. The artwork is absolutely incredible and from here on out, everything is on the line. You can feel the intensity behind every single movement because there’s no room for mistakes. It really is such a satisfying scene that brings together gorgeous artwork, crazy action, and emotional honesty.

Final Fantasy VII brought us into a world full of political and social strife. You see, the world’s energy source of mako, which basically everyone depends on, is monopolized by a single company, Shinra. This company essentially controls the world. Cloud was once a soldier for Shinra, but now he has joined an anti-Shinra organization known as AVALANCHE. While most of his comrades fight to create a more equal society, Cloud is basically trying to figure out his purpose in life. Final Fantasy VII has several memorable moments, such as Cloud cross-dressing, none really compare to the power behind the scene when Sephiroth stabs Aerith in the back. This moment in gaming shook the entire gaming community. It reminded players that their characters are not necessarily their characters. They are the game’s characters and the game can decide if one of them will disappear. It also cemented Sephiroth as one of the most evil, cruel, and heartless villains in video gaming history. Overall, it left many gamers despondent and an

The Last of Us is an action-adventure game that is all about surviving an apocalyptic setting. A modern plague has wiped out most of humanity. The few that are left need to defend themselves against the hordes of infected as well as each other. It’s a dangerous environment and you need to make sure that Joel and Ellie make it through together. You can’t make a list like the top 10 cut scenes and not include The Last of Us. This is one of the most cinematic games out there. Not a single cut scene is wasted in this video game. Each moment incites a feeling, furthers the character development, or introduces new information. It really is writing at its best. Though there are many great cut scenes, the moment when Ellie says, “And if I say no” is absolutely incredible. She stands her ground and shows off an incredible amount of willpower and intelligence. She is not going to let anyone decide things for her, not even Joel. It really is an incredible moment that has a lot of emotional impact considering the events that have led up to that point.

Final Thoughts:

There you have it. Those are the Top 10 Video Game Cut Scenes. Though many people tend to write cut scenes off, cut scenes are in fact essential parts to video games. They help tie in the character development and let us see just how much a certain event has affected our characters. They also allow for the input of incredible visuals in order to better capture a momentous occasion so that you will never ever forget it. With that being said, are there any incredible cut scenes that you feel should be on this list?
