Let’s face it folks, if there’s any argument that causes debates in the world of anime and manga, it’s which is better the original manga adaptation or the anime version. The problem lies with the fact that often, the anime version just tends to do things quite differently then how it was represented in the manga. It’s the same issue with book to movie adaptations in the western world as often, a movie tends to remove a lot of what made the book special. However, even still, there always has to be someone who respects both sides of the argument and try to find the pros and cons with a debate. We’re going to do that today with our article that discusses which is better: Tokyo Ghoul:re the anime or Tokyo Ghoul:re the manga?

How This Will Go!

This is how this will go down, folks. We’re going to keep this article short and to the point. Down below, we will discuss a few pros about the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime adaptation and equally we will talk about some negatives about it as well. The goal here is to see which is better ultimately not from just our perspective but from the community’s as well. We did research online to see what people have been saying about Tokyo Ghoul:re’s animation and took that into consideration while writing this article. We’re not personally saying either one is better or worse, folks; remember that though. These are just opinions we have and share with others about Tokyo Ghoul:re and how it could show a clear victor of which is better between the two versions.

Pro 1: Seeing Tokyo Ghoul:re in anime form

Honestly, one of the best things about seeing a manga get adapted into an anime is the fact that we get to see our favorite series get a form outside still images. Don’t get us wrong folks, the manga art for Tokyo Ghoul:re is drop dead gorgeous, but the animation isn’t too shabby either. While it has some moments of weaker animation here and there, the Tokyo Ghoul:re animation adaptation looks pretty darn good from our perspective. Plus, those action sequences are just stunning to see moving in stunning anime format. Now let’s hope studio Pierrot keeps it up with further episodes of Tokyo Ghoul:re.

Pro 2: Exciting narrative

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="NEOGDS-274131" text="" url="" ]

One thing that hasn’t been lost in the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime adaptation—though some things we’ll soon mention have been lost—is the excellent story. Every week we still grip our computer desks and chairs as we watch what will happen next in Tokyo Ghoul:re. The world set in the prequel story continues strong in Tokyo Ghoul:re and that’s a good thing indeed. We won’t spoil some of the new characters such as Haise Sasaki and how they work into this new tale of humans versus ghouls. If you want to know for yourselves—and we know you do—then you’ll just need to watch the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime or read the manga.

Con 1: A lot of missing content

If you look up the biggest complaints about Tokyo Ghoul:re anime adaptation, it would be that there is a ton of content missing seen in the manga. We won’t say exactly what scenes are missing—in case some of you are trying to avoid spoilers—but there are a lot of chapters skipped in just the first few episodes alone. Trust us folks, we also dislike when an anime adaptation messes with a manga we love but we also understand its not possible to get every scene from the manga either. Ultimately, just don’t expect everything from the manga to make it into the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime.

Con 2: Not to easy to understand for anime only fans

Another complaint we’ve been hearing from fans of both the manga and the anime for Tokyo Ghoul:re is that it’s really confusing, especially if you aren’t a manga reader. Possibly due to the content skipping, Tokyo Ghoul:re feels all over the place in the anime. It doesn’t mean we don’t understand what’s going on, but we can sympathize for anime-only fans of Tokyo Ghoul:re. We recommend picking up the manga for Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:re. If you decide not to, you’re going to be a bit lost in this anime adaptation.

Final Thoughts

Tokyo Ghoul:re—anime wise—isn’t perfect and we can see why many of the manga fans are claiming this is a downright terrible adaptation. However, as you can see above, the anime does have some strong points that make Tokyo Ghoul:re at least enjoyable in this adaptation. We just ultimately hope a lot of you guys and girls reading will remember that while its okay to have strong feelings about the things you love, you need to respect that not everyone has the same outlooks as you might. We here at Honey’s Anime think both the anime and manga version of Tokyo Ghoul:re are solid works worth your time in either watching or reading. Though what are you guys thinking about this debate? Comment in the comment section below, but please be mindful to avoid rude comments or hate as those aren’t the messages we’ll allow here. Keep our hive beautiful, folks, and thank you in advance from all of us here at Honey’s Anime.

“Where Dark and Light are One”

  • Event: BABYMETAL World Tour 2018
  • Date: Tuesday, May 15th, 2018
  • Location: The Tabernacle, Atlanta
[ad_top2 class="mt40"]

Intro: Metal Resistance Ep VII

Despite it being Tuesday at 4:00 pm, there was already a long line forming in the Centennial Olympic Park district in anticipation of BABYMETAL. A diverse crowd of older metal-heads and cosplaying youngins found themselves deep in conversation about the new lore introduced with the tour. Many were wearing black and/or red, the band's usual color choices when it comes to their wardrobe. It had been announced that Yuimetal would not be able to make the American Tour, and some wondered if that had something to do with the promised introduction of 'The Chosen Seven'. With cryptic images on Instagram and a video describing seven metal beings from the dark side, no one was sure what the Fox God had planned. Security was tight with purse checks and pat downs but the line moved quickly once the doors opened. The merch line was instantly long but with the 8 or so bars throughout the Tabernacle, you didn't have long to wait for a drink. The lowest level was where the merchandise was set up consisting of many shirts, keychains, hats, and flanked by two bars. The smoking area was also located just outside, separated from the inside by a thick flap. Going up one flight led you to the main floor. The floor above that was for VIP members with comfortable chairs and still above that was the balcony seating with regular theater-style chairs with bars on each floor.

Being that the concert was sold out even with the venue's capacity of 2,600 people, it was packed and many were relegated to the balcony before the show even started. Despite metal fans being known for their rowdiness, it was a generally polite crowd, respectful of the all-ages nature of the show. Some people were drinking but weren't causing a scene, and many taller fans allowed shorter fans closer spots to the stage. Everyone was excited to see the kind of show BABYMETAL would put on with 1/3 of their members missing and in light of the new prophecy being whispered about online.

Performance: Behold the Metal Spirits!

At about 9:10, a video similar to one that had been used to introduce the Metal Resistance Ep VII saga began playing. Images of portals, imposing spirits, and dark and light mixing together in an otherworldly way captivated the audience. A deep voice playing over the video explained that light and darkness cannot exist without the other and that these seven metal spirits called the Chosen Seven were ordered to descend from the Dark Side by the Fox God. The voice explained that these spirits do not necessarily exist on the same plane, nor could the audience know when, where, or how they would manifest. Possibly left with more questions than answers, the video ended and the music began. As the curtain dropped, the crowd erupted into applause and cheers. Fox hand-signs were raised to welcome the followers of the Fox God. 4 mage-looking girls in black garments, imposing pointed hats, and black facemasks waved impressive staffs. After "IN THE NAME OF" was over, the lights went out. Despite not moving much, their movements were so powerful and captivating that everyone was eagerly anticipating the rest of the show. When the lights returned, Moametal stood in the back with two backup dancers and Su-metal at the front in slightly different outfits than they had been in before. The crowd went wild upon hearing the new song that had been released to herald the 2018 tour, "Distortion". Everyone was singing along to the 'whoa whoa whoa whoa's and a lot of people were either raising their arms or headbanging.

They continued through their set list and they never lost energy. Each song had impressive, fast-paced choreography that left you amazed at Su-metal's and Moametal's endurance. The white-faced Kami Band played powerfully as always. It felt like you were being struck by the chords and your heart accelerated with the music. The harsh vocals against Su-metal's sweet yet commanding voice were just the dissonance everyone was anticipating. "Megitsune" was especially well-received as there are many easy parts for the audience to join in and sing or yell along. With its mysterious and melodious vocals accompanied by blood-curdling screams and heavy bass, "Megitsune" got the crowd super hyped and a mosh pit that had been threatening to form the whole time erupted. For a song that has more Japanese sound and lyric inspiration (as it references Japanese fox spirits and reimagines the Japanese folk song Sakura's melody in a most creepy, enchanting way) it really resonated with the crowd. Again fox-hand signs were aggressively thrust into the air.

Towards the end, BABYMETAL took a short break which they surely needed after such vigorous dancing and non-stop singing but it was a nice moment for the audience to recharge as well. Emotionally and physically spent, we waited patiently for BABYMETAL to return. They came back with "Road of Resistance" and Su-metal, Moametal, and the backup dancers did a flag routine with a black-and-white image from the Distortion single of the eclipsed sun. Then, when it got to the heavy part of the song, the crowd started jumping and shoving each other again in a second wave of energy. BABYMETAL finished off the night with a powerful performance of "The One", bringing the everyone back together again. The English lyrics helped reach everyone to create a greater sense of unity with the primarily English-speaking crowd. Its rather calm start had almost a hypnotizing effect on the audience but once the heavy guitars kicked in, the crowd responded with lots of cheering and screaming. Once the lights turned on and the show was over, everyone was tired but pleased despite the relatively short length of the concert at just about an hour.

[balloon_speech align="left" text="Wow!! The music really doesn't suffer just because the vocals are cuter." image="bee-love"] [balloon_speech align="right" text="The lyrics may be different from your average metal aggression, but they truly are a metal band! And they still know how to scream!" image="honey-happy3"]

Outro: A World of Opposites that Creates a Unique Balance

Whether it was through slow uniform motions of staffs or flags or fast-paced jumping and arm movements, BABYMETAL had the crowd at their mercy. They didn't address the crowd. Instead, they appeared as high priestesses sharing their wisdom with the common people desperate to hear their words. Despite being rather young, they commanded the audience's attention and put on an excellent performance. No one could deny their power and intensity and as diverse a crowd as it was, everyone left feeling good. Through the lights and visuals, it really feels as if you're being shown something from a different plane of existence from the Kami Band's corpse-like makeup, the costumes worn by the girls, and the intermingling of darkness and light. Illuminated by dark red for a more powerful feel, white strobe lights for intensity and fog sweeping across the floor added to the spiritual feel surrounding BABYMETAL's music.

One special moment was when they played "Gimme Chocolate!!" which is an old and very well-known song. Both old and new fans were familiar and excited for the cute and simple lyrics with the heavy metal music pounding their ears. While Su-metal and Moametal hadn't been very close to each other for most of the concert, their choreography played off each other and the result was adorable. It's incredible how they can go from child-like attitudes to a full-on commanding presence, but it's that dichotomy that makes them such a fun and incredible band to see live.

[balloon_speech align="left" text="I'm so tired from moshing, but man was it worth it!" image="bee-blushing"] [balloon_speech align="right" text="I feel like all the emotions I've been holding back were released tonight with everyone!" image="honey-starryeyes"]

When it comes to being a villain, it takes all types to oppose the hero! From the misunderstood characters we empathize with to the truly evil souls out to destroy their world, anime covers a wide range of villains. Of course, some of our favorites are the insane power-hungry characters, those that commit evil acts simply because they want more of something. Whether it’s the desire for power, money or delusions of deity, villains of this crazy level will do anything to get what they want. Their morals are often skewed; putting others on a lower level of importance allows for these lesser lives to be easily expendable. We’ll cover the most deviously insane villains in our article, those that believe power rules over all.

10. Nobuyuki Sugou from Sword Art Online

[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="25" item2="Air Date" content2="Jul. 2012 – Dec. 2012" ]

Kazuto Kirigaya is one of the lucky few who get to play the new MMORPG called Sword Art Online, a game for the brand new “NerveGear.” Called Kirito in-game, Kazuto and ten thousand other players enjoy the beautiful fantasy world of Aincrad, until they discover that they cannot log out and are trapped in the game! In order to escape the game, players will have to work together to beat the different bosses – but if they die in-game, they die for real. Thus begins the long struggle for Kirito and his friends to defeat the foes ahead of them… The main villain in the second half of Sword Art Online, Nobuyuki Sugou’s pursuit for power includes marrying Asuna Yuuki and keeping 300 players captive for research. He encounters Kirito in the real world, as well as later on in ALfheim Online as the Fairy King Oberon. Sugou attended the same school as Kayaba Akihiko, developing a bit of a rivalry with the man. Sugou is less of an insane villain as he is incredibly greedy and immoral, though his desire for power does overtake his entrepreneurial side in the end.

9. Meruem from Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter follows the story of Gon Freecss and his friends as they take the Hunter Exam and begin an epic adventure together, one that will teach them much about the world! Meruem is the King of the Chimera Ants, being the most powerful Ant born of the Chimera Ant Queen. Though Meruem is refined and intelligent as a villain, he believes himself to be perfect and better than all other creatures, leading to his disdain for many other “weaker” life forms. He violently kills all who oppose him, showing a controlled insanity during battle. However, Meruem does change his thoughts later on in the series, after encountering specific humans and other beings that show strength and value in other ways. Because of this, the King of Chimera Ants is a bit lower on our list.

5. Monokuma from Danganronpa: Kibou no Gikuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation (Danganronpa: The Animation)

Makoto Naegi is a completely ordinary high school student. By luck alone, he manages to get accepted to the elite Hope’s Peak Academy, a school that only accepts the most talented students. Naegi is excited about his chance to study at Hope’s Peak along with the 14 other candidates, but their mutual enthusiasm is soon downtrodden. Their principal Monokuma, who is also a bear, traps the students inside the school! It seems that the only way they can escape is to successfully murder one of their own without being caught, which will allow them all to graduate. However, if you are caught in the act, you will be ended instead! Monokuma is the most unusual megalomaniac villain on our list, as he is a stuffed robotic bear and the principal of Hope’s Peak Academy. His appearance is divided into two sides to reflect his two different moods – the innocent side of a teddy bear and a more sinister, sadistic smile. We see his moods especially in the way that he treats the students, which can be kind and full of advice, or tormenting and cruel, usually leaning toward the latter. Monokuma quite enjoys torturing the students he traps, and is violent in nature. Adding to his many flaws, Monokuma takes great pride in his position as headmaster of Hope’s Peak, getting fiercely angry when he is not referred to by his proper title. Throughout the course of the trials, it is obvious that Monokuma thoroughly enjoys the job he has been given, relishing in controlling the students in their trials.

4. Orochimaru from Naruto

Though he is shunned by the villagers, Naruto’s dream is to become the next great Hokage, and he refuses to give that up for anyone! It is said that Orochimaru’s sadistic nature stems from his parents’ death at a young age. His search for immortality is ongoing, as he gathers powerful shinobi bodies to transplant into when the time is right. His particular interest in Sasuke is merely for this purpose as well, as he desires to become all-powerful and learn every technique in the world with his apprentice’s Sharingan. When Orochimaru lived in Konoha, he often used humans as test subjects for his experiments, subjecting them to horrible and painful changes with no remorse. He is manipulative, using people until they no longer serve his plans and then discarding them as worthless. Orochimaru is arrogant at times as well, believing himself to be truly immortal, which can be his downfall in battle.

Though the police and a detective named L are after him, Light will use his full intellect to succeed with his newfound dream! His pride in his own abilities is steadfast, particularly when it comes to outsmarting and manipulating others. Light relishes in his power over death, especially as his game with L continues. Though Raditz fails to earn Goku’s allegiance, he does warn the group of an impending danger that is quickly approaching. The seven powerful dragon balls will be fought for once again! And this time, it’s uncertain who will be victorious… Frieza is Goku’s most persistent enemy, coming after him again and again in an effort to destroy the Saiyan race. He takes delight in showing off his own strength, particularly when using that strength to kill someone or destroy entire planets. Frieza’s refined demeanor masks an insanity that enjoys destruction and chaos. He is disgusted by all things good, including Goku’s noble actions, and will not show mercy in a fight, though he may sadistically toy with his prey. Frieza is a powerful foe, even in moments where his arrogance and pride might hold him back. He truly does not care about anything but his own achievements, easily earning him the first spot on our list.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of what their goals are, the villains on our list are truly terrifying. Whether on a quest for power, wealth or deity, these characters are dangerous to face due to their perspective on others and pride in their own strength. While they may indeed be powerful and manipulative, good always triumphs over evil in the end! Unfortunately, that won’t stop these megalomaniacs from trying to achieve their goals… So, do you agree with our list of the most power-hungry villains in anime? Who is your favorite villain? We love to talk about all characters, whether they are good or bad. So please leave your comments for us below!

“A sexual savior” With so, so much hentai gracing our world, it's not uncommon for certain themes to be done near to death. One example is the regular, sinister guy who takes advantage of the women around him against their wills as they are powerless to resist. Another tried and true story is the guy who's just so desirable that the ladies are throwing themselves at him as if their lives depended on it. Both are fine on their own, but what if we took the helplessness of the former and applied the desperate need of the latter? With these 5 shows, the pen(is) mightier than the sword.

Upon discovering a cursed jar left in the room his step-father prepared for him, all Yu knows is 'the worst horror' will happen to him if he ignores the will of the jar. That is, to collect women's love juices without them knowing about the curse themselves. Thankfully for Yu, his older step-sisters just adore him and are quite happy to share their bodies with him. AneJiru is a comedy about this potentially devastating situation and the absolute ease Yu has with attaining the necessary love juices from his eager sisters. Most of the conflict comes from Yu himself as he does feel somewhat naughty about having sex with his stepfamily and forcing himself on them while they're asleep or busy as the jar commands. Definitely check out the AneJiru Animation 2, as it was released in 2010 and thus nicer to look at.

When the sacred tree of Alfheim grows weak and is no longer able to create elf children, Queen Nom of the elves summons a hero to help with child production! His mission is to impregnate the elves so as to bring forth a new era of healthy baby elves. While his goal is simple, he finds ways to improve the lives of the elves in other ways such as bringing them together and helping them with their problems. While the main character feels that he isn't anything special, the elves beg for his attention and semen knowing how necessary it is. Some of them are a little more resistant but in the end, cannot ignore the necessity of keeping their race from dying off. For those who like the idea of a sexual hero with pretty vanilla sex scenes, this is a beautiful fantasy hentai.

Kimi no Mana wa Rina Witch (Your Magical Name is Rina Witch)

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="1+" item2="Aired" content2="Nov 2016 – ongoing " ][/en]

Witches and their helpers have a special way to increase mana. Intercourse is just a natural training regimen to increase power and the more both parties enjoy, the stronger the magic! Rina, Alyssa, and Iizuka are a great team. When they learn that they'll need to improve their effectiveness or risk being disbanded, they'll stop at nothing to improve their sex-lives and magical strength! Alyssa hates admitting how much she loves sex and how she enjoys being humiliated and forced into things, yet knows if she wants to continue growing as a witch she needs to let Iizuka do these embarrassing but stimulating things. Rina is shy but eager to please and understands well the necessity of improving her mana as well as keeping her precious team together.

Star Jewel

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="1" item2="Aired" content2="Dec 2011" ][/en]

Sailor Moon meets futanari in this dramatic hentai. The dark goddesses wish to harvest human hearts to power a ship back to their homeland and the light goddesses must keep them at bay as well as try to protect innocent lives. When a light and dark goddess cross paths, there is only one option. Use their magic penises to attempt to make the other submit in sexual pleasure. This show will please both yuri or futanari fans as well as an old-fashioned good vs evil story. The story and characters are surprisingly complex for a hentai and the women appear to be older than many of your high school or 'I swear I'm legal' characters common in the genre. Sex is power, and in order to save the world or themselves, these goddesses must bring their enemies to climax or lose everything.

Meikoku Gakuen Jutai Hen

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="2" item2="Aired" content2="Apr 2017 – May 2017" ][/en]

Due to the Dark Hour, all the women at a certain school are overcome with a tremendous sex drive that can only be cured when a man cums inside them. If they are left on their own, death awaits them. Asada-Sensei is the only man left, and thus it's up to him to keep the deadly curse at bay. Another hentai with the idea that mana need be replenished through semen, Keikoku Gakuen has an even darker tone than Kimi no Mana wa Rina Witch. Without being constantly banged, these girls will die. Most of them are very grateful yet desperate for Asada's savior-penis but even those who try desperately to fight it can't ignore their urge for long.

Sometimes we just want to be revered as a god, both feared and worshiped by many. Women being bound not from simply being overpowered but by the knowledge that there is no other way than through sex to give you a rush of control as well as a clear conscience. Hopefully, you'll find these 5 hero-penis anime both helpful and heroic!

Omensight - Gameplay Video with Developer Commentary [ESRB]

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_43xTg-iHE&w=560&h=315]

Who it Caters to

When we first picked up and started playing Omensight, the anthropomorphic style really started to remind us of titles like Ni no Kuni. Its very fast paced action oriented gameplay felt like the good old days of God of War, with a small hint of Devil May Cry flavoring all thrown into this seducing pot of wonders. Anyone who has dabbled with any of these very action driven titles with a strong impactful story will surely find enjoyment in Omensight. It’s a 3D action adventure dark fantasy that takes place in world that’s full of corruption, despair, and betrayal. Now it’s your job as the Harbinger to seek out the truth behind a mysterious murder and restore balance to the world of Urralia, and give it a second chance. Each level is intricately designed to provide players with a unique perspective as you play, with gorgeous details pertaining to special effects and character animations. If you’re looking for a fresh and provocative action adventure title that combines the essence of Ni no Kuni’s beloved storytelling, with the in your face beat downs that occur in God of War, then Omensight should be on your must have list.

What to Expect

Omensight is an indie title created by the folks over at Spearhead Games. For those who don’t know, Spearhead Games created another indie title that takes place in the same universe titled Stories: The Path of Destinies. While the games differ in terms of their story, it’s still a great title to check out as it gives you a glimpse of Urralia from a different point of view. In Omensight there’s quite a lot to ingest as you first start playing, such as learning the mechanics and coming to understanding how to fully optimize your attacks in battle. However as you continue to play through and obtain new skills through meditation, you start to see a new dynamic happen right before your very eyes. Every battle you engage in will become increasingly more difficult but will also require you to maximize your skills to ensure more damage is dealt, and to look flashy of course. Throughout the game, you’ll come across and unlock new Omensights which give you the ability to travel back in time in order to relive past moments of characters you encounter throughout the game. This is perhaps the most integral aspect of the game as you’ll be doing a lot of backtracking to discover new clues about the mysterious murder that took place, but other issues that pop up as you traverse deeper into the game. A lot of the time you’ll need to work alongside specific characters so that you can unlock certain areas that could not be opened before, and so this adds another depth of exploration to the games already fascinating gameplay. Much like any action adventure title, you’ll be constantly engaging in dialogue with various characters to uncover the many truths that lay hidden beneath all the betrayal that plagues the land. Voice acting is superbly delivered and gives each character a true sense of personality. While not every voice is enticing to the ear, it still provides you with a sense of belonging, since you truly feel like you’re part of the whole experience. The main character is the silent protagonist and so many times, the other characters speak on your behalf which leads to some humorous moments. Now that you know what to expect from Omensight, let’s dive a little deeper into the gameplay and lay down the reasons why this game is worth playing, while also looking at areas that may need a little fine tuning.
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Gameplay

Right off the bat you’re thrown straight into the action and we loved that. Of course, you have to sit through the cutscene to learn about the events that are transpiring, which to be honest is pretty important if you really want to immerse yourself completely in the game. Harbinger is the protagonist as we stated earlier, who wields the ability to foresee events and prevent catastrophe from occuring. You’re able to alter and observe everything that happens up to the last moments of a certain character, and once you see the truth you can take that individuals soul to help you in battle. That’s the most intriguing aspect about Omensight because unlike in other games where you take the souls of people for the sole purpose of collecting them, you actually use the souls to help guide you closer to the truth. A lot of characters you encounter give off a bad vibe initially, only to have you realize down the road that they were actually an ally looking to protect a certain individual. You start to see the true colors of the characters you encounter and what their actual motive is pertaining to the world of Urralia. As each day passes in the game, you’ll have to keep track of which character you’ll want to use to assist you in battle, or to use their abilities to unlock new doors.
You’re almost like a mystic detective who travels back in time using the souls of those you’ve encountered, collecting as many clues as you can to start piecing things together. Sometimes you’ll choose a decision that you think will provide the best outcome only to realize it didn’t give you enough details about the incident. So then you’ll have to go back and reenact the same scenario but with a different approach, which is what makes playing so fun. In game battles are such a blast to play because every enemy you encounter will behave differently and so you’ll need to keep an eye out on their patterns to land successful blows. Your special abilities start to come in handy and is where all the flashy effects come in, another area of the game we truly love. One attack called the Phantom Dash allows you to quickly dash through a group of enemies and deal a ton of damage before they even get a chance to strike you down. Another attack allows you to slow down time and kill any enemy that’s within the radius of your ability, giving you an opportunity to lay waste to a group of enemies who may have otherwise been a pain in the neck.
Every attack is unique in its own way and can be utilized in whatever way you desire, which gives the gameplay a lot of depth and creativity. If you see an ! marker above an enemy’s head it’s an indication for you to quickly evade and counter attack for heavy damage. This whole matrix style performance is so awesome to watch, and the Harbinger just brings this aura of beauty when swiftly hacking down the enemy. Collect as many seals as you can and use them well my friend!
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

Omensight is an incredibly fun action title that really encourages you to go beyond the basics of combat and take things to a whole new level. As each skill is unlocked and more Omensights are collected, you become this fearless warrior who speaks not with words but with swift action and grace, while the character relationships you build create a more impactful narrative. No one character ever feels the same and so there’s always this feeling of novelty when communicating with them. Hours go by and you’re still hacking away because that’s how potent Omensight’s gameplay is. The world is littered with hidden doors and pathways that always provide new surprises and items to collect, while the story is impactful enough that you stick through it all and not feel bored. In a way you want to see all the pain and suffering dissolve because in truth, you’re the one controlling it all. It’s not a perfect game by any means as we ran into some camera related issues and cut scenes that ended somewhat abruptly, but aside from those little flaws the rest of the games action and RPG based skill building make up for it in a major way.

Honey's Pros:

  • Totally love the anthropomorphic approach to character design. More games should follow this.
  • Great attention to detail in character design and animation.
  • Superb voice acting.
  • Spectacular action and drama.
  • Manipulating time as a silent detective is always fun!
  • Fluid combat.

Honey's Cons:

  • Camera issues sometimes got in the way of things.
  • Some cutscenes would abruptly stop and put you right back into the game.

Honey's Final Verdict:

Pick this game up and support the indie scene for sure. Omensight is by no means a boring game and if you spend a great deal of time with it, you’ll start to see its charms. Be sure to catch us playing it live on our Twitch channel to see our hands on experience with it. Top 10 Nintendo Wii Game OSTs [Best Recommendations]

Despite the fact that the Wii was somehow still getting new game releases right up until 2017, it feels safe to say that the Wii is pretty much dead. With the Switch out, that makes the Wii two generations old now. Nintendo has even gone so far as to shut off the online store for it not but a few months ago. No one is supporting the system anymore. And yet, the Wii continues to persist, doesn’t it? You can still readily find Wii games at most major retailers, and as of the time of this article’s writing you can even find a Wii game or two in Amazon’s top 100 sellers list. It seems wrong to just pretend like the Wii isn’t still a force, and what a better way to remember it than some of the best OSTs on the system? After all, it wasn’t just the games that have stuck with us, but the music too. We thought it only appropriate to count down the top 10 Wii OSTs!

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

10. Metroid Prime 3

Legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran has been hired by the Galactic Federation along with several other bounty hunters to investigate the Aurora Units (supercomputers) that have just been discovered all throughout the galaxy. However, unsurprisingly, the notorious Space Pirates are just as curious about them, and attack the Galactic Federation’s Olympus battle ship to try and preempt their investigation. Samus flies off to the planet Norion to find the first one, and from there, she’ll actually be on her first intergalactic adventure to stop the Space Pirates and figure out what happened to her fellow bounty hunters! Metroid Prime 3 brings back everything we love in a good sci-fi soundtrack. The synth riffs sound organically alien, as if this was music that could never actually be recorded with any instruments that we could find on Earth. This really sets the mood for when you explore each new alien world, and gives each new planet its own identity. We place it a little lower on this list because, frankly, Metroid has been excelling at this for some time now, so it’s a little unambitious, but it’s no less a fantastic Wii OST.

9. Sonic Colors

[sourceLink asin="B002I0IIPY" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Sega" item3="Developer" content3="Sonic Team" item4="Release Dates" content4="November 16th, 2010 (US)" ][/en]

Has Dr. Eggman finally gone good? He claims he has anyway. To prove it, he’s opened up his own amusement park for the masses! Sonic doesn’t trust him for one minute, though, so he grabs Tails and heads out to the Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park (Eggman’s naming) out in space to check it out. Upon arriving, he rescues an alien named Yacker who confirms Sonic’s suspicions and that Eggman has actually enslaved his brethren to keep the park functional. Now, Sonic is going to have to stop Eggman’s schemes yet again! Are you tired of the wannabe butt rock themes that pervade every new Sonic game that comes out? Sonic Colors was a return to form for the series, focusing on more melodic themes for each stage that evoke a classic style for the modern age. There’s so much energy bursting from each track; once you hear the Starlight Carnival theme, you’ll almost want to stop playing and go run around the city performing all sorts of sick parkour!

8. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="RVL-L-SOUJ" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Nintendo EAD" item4="Release Dates" content4="November 20th, 2011 (US)" ][/en]

It’s the original Legend of Zelda game! No, really! Skyward Sword takes place at the very beginning of the Zelda timeline, before humans had even inhabited the land. Instead, they lived up in the sky and traveled using giant birds. You’ll play as Link (of course), who’s still attending high school and has a bit of a crush on his classmate, Zelda. Fortunately for Link, Zelda seems pretty into him too, but the jealous Groose just keeps getting in Link’s way. However, there’s no time for bickering, as Zelda has been whisked away into a tornado, and now Link is going to have to be the first person to set foot on terra firma to find her! Did you know that soaring main theme is actually Zelda’s Lullaby in reverse? Without going too much into detail, that’s actually a neat little touch to the overall theme of Skyward Sword. The music in general does so much to serve the overall theme of Skyward Sword -like the distinctly Chinese flavor in the theme that plays in Ancient Cistern to reflect the old Chinese proverb the dungeon is based on- that we felt the need to at least highlight Skyward Sword on our list. It’s also notable for being the first Zelda game having a full-fledged orchestra!

7. Rhythm Heaven Fever

[sourceLink asin="B006L1FAK2" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Nintendo SPD, TNX Music Recordings" item4="Release Dates" content4="February 13th, 2012 (US)" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

The gameplay in Rhythm Heaven Fever couldn’t be simpler. All you have to do is tap along to the beat of the song, and you’re good! Of course, that “beat” is defined by whatever strange scenario you find yourself in, whether you’re a seal rolling in sync with other seals, a wrestler timing out his responses to a reporter, or a couple of monkeys working on their golf game. It’s wildly creative, and you’ll do your best to stay to the rhythm to perfect every song you can! It would be strange if Rhythm Heaven Fever had a poor OST. After all, the entire point of the game is the music! But unlike other music games, where they play a song and you just play along with the beat, Rhythm Heaven Fever actually incorporates you into the music itself. You’re the one who’s performing, and therein lies the hook. And, frankly, it’s great that the music itself is so catchy! You’ll be humming the tunes to yourself for weeks after playing.

6. The Last Story

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="RVL-P-SLSJ" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="XSeed" item3="Developer" content3="Mistwalker, AQ Interactive" item4="Release Dates" content4="August 14th, 2012 (US)" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Lazulis Island: a gigantic, floating fortress headed by Count Arganan that doubles as its own nation. A mercenary named Dagran travels to Lazulis Island with his mercenary group with the hopes of possibly finding work. One of Dagran’s soldiers, Zael, saves a young woman who calls herself Lisa from the city guards, and the two quickly form a bond. What Zael doesn’t realize is that this Lisa is actually Lady Calista, and she’s trying to run away from her own wedding. Zael gets wrapped up into an international game of politics and may end up having to save the world as a result. The Last Story was composed by none other than game composing legend Nobuo Uemastu, who lent his talents to Mistwalker due to his friendship with studio head and original Final Fantasy director Hironobu Sakaguchi. Here, Uematsu proves why he’s one of the all-time great video game composers, using his trademark combination of lush orchestral tracks and rock and roll to drive the atmosphere. Even more noteworthy are the various battle themes that can play throughout the course of a single battle, changing depending on how you’re doing. It really helps set the tone of the combat!

5. No More Heroes

[sourceLink asin="B000X25GW2" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Ubisoft" item3="Developer" content3="Grasshopper Manufacture" item4="Release Dates" content4="January 22nd, 2008 (US)" ][/en]

Travis Touchdown was just your normal loser American otaku until he won a sweet beam saber on an online auction. Now he’s been approached with deal from the United Assassin’s Association (or the UAA) to take on 11 deadly assassins. If Travis manages to rise in the ranks, then he gets fame, wealth, and sex with the lovely promoter of the UAA, Sylvia Christel. However, there’s no backing down either, because the instant Travis stops killing, he’ll be targeted by the next wave of assassins who want their chance at the top! Plenty of games can claim that they have a full-on orchestra these days, but how many can claim a full-on synth production? Masafumi Takada and Jun Fukuda’s techno rave tracks really capture the madness of the plot. It’s an otherworldly OST, delving straight into the worst of the human psyche and drilling right into it with very hard, noticeable beats. It strikes right into the heart of what No More Heroes is all about, and will haunt you long after you finish the game.

4. Kirby’s Epic Yarn

[sourceLink asin="B003ZCH7DI" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Good-Feel, HAL Laboratory" item4="Release Dates" content4="October 17th, 2010 (US)" ][/en]

Look, Kirby was just hungry, alright? He didn’t know that tomato on the ground was sealing away the evil wizard Yin-Yarn. Now Kirby’s been sent to Patch Land, a world made up entirely of yarn, and is forced to fix this mess. He won’t be alone, though, as Prince Fluff is there to take this journey with Kirby. And he’ll need the help too, as Kirby doesn’t have his trademark abilities to inhale things and fly anymore! Playing Kirby’s Epic Yarn is like a relaxing, jaunty stroll through the park. Naturally, the OST needed to reflect that! Kirby’s Epic Yarn is a rare title that forgoes traditional violins and brass horns to drive up the scale, and instead is composed with delightful woodwind instruments played alongside charming piano ditties. It’s a wonderfully relaxing OST to ease you into your work after a stressful day to help you get focused on your studies!

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

It’s all your favorite Nintendo characters squared up against one another! Mario vs. Pikachu! Samus vs. Link! Kirby vs. Donkey Kong! Any matchup between any of the 39 fighters is possible in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! If you don’t want to play with friends, give the Subspace Emissary story mode a shot, where you’ll fight against the invading interdimensional beings and keep your characters from getting turned into trophies! Rather than selecting one game for this list, why not select them all? Super Smash Bros. Brawl has an almost embarrassing selection of your favorite Nintendo tunes packed in, with over 300 tracks in total! You’ll find both remixes of the most recognizable songs from Nintendo’s catalog as well as original rips of others. Better yet, you can even set the frequency in which they play with the incredibly handy My Music feature, giving you an unparalleled functionality in your music customization.

Shulk lives in Colony 9, a city located on the giant dead god creature known as the Bionis. Unfortunately, times are not terribly peaceful. They live in fear of the Mechon, a race of robots that are determined to hunt down humans at any cost. The Mechon manage to assault Colony 9 and ruin Shulk’s otherwise carefree life, and now Shulk is out for revenge. He and his best friend Reyn set off on an adventure that encompasses the entire world as they know it! Xenoblade Chronicles is just about one of the biggest OSTs you’ll find on the Wii. Not in number of tracks, mind you, but just in terms of scale. Every track in Xenoblade Chronicles plays at the height of emotional intensity. The night time Colony 9 theme doesn’t just sound peaceful, but feels like a windswept valley that couldn’t even begin to understand what pain is. You Will Know Our Names, the iconic boss theme, isn’t just a simple battle, but a never-ending conflict where the souls of everyone involved are on the line at every single moment of the battle.

Bowser’s captured Princess Peach again. But this isn’t your standard princess-napping. Oh no, Bowser’s abducted Peach and taken her where no one else could possibly reach her: space! Mario can jump, but not THAT high! However, he does get knocked into space when he attempts to stop Bowser. He finds himself on a strange observatory located deep within the galaxy. There, Mario meets Princess Rosalina, the woman who oversees the Grand Observatory, and tells Mario that she can send him to where Bowser is located, but he’ll need to collect the Power Stars all throughout the universe to get enough power to launch him! The OST to Super Mario Galaxy isn’t just epic, it’s nearly revolutionary! Back when Super Mario Galaxy originally released, the thought of a dynamic orchestral soundtrack to a game was nearly unheard of. However, sound director Masafumi Kawamura managed to pull it off using a similar technique he had discovered with syncing MIDI tracks to sound effects in past GameCube efforts. All it required was to have the orchestra play the tune multiple times at different tempos and blend them together, resulting in not only an incredible composition, but one that’s fine tuned to your play!

With the coming of Mario Tennis Aces , everyone is really excited about Mario sports games right now. And why not? Mario Tennis Aces is reminding everyone what they love about the Mario sports games. It’s got a beautiful, vibrant art style that comes inherently with the Mario franchise, looks to strike a balance between super-powered goofiness and a classic sports game, and is bursting with charm (Wario’s tennis gear, anyone?). So it wouldn’t come as a shock if you were feeling a bit nostalgic for the old Mario sports games. After all, the series has been used more recently as filler in Nintendo’s gaps in their release schedule. But that didn’t use to be the case. Mario sports used to hold their own with Nintendo’s other party game franchises. So, if you’re looking for that certain special combo of Mario fun and sports zaniness, check out what we’re calling the top 10 Mario sports games!

10. Mario Hoops 3-on-3

Get into what is perhaps the only worthwhile handheld basketball game out there with none other than Mario! You’ll control Mario Hoops 3-on-3 using the touchpad almost exclusively. Use it to speed up your dribbling, draw lines to shoot, or make motions to signify passes and steals. Get as good as you can, work your way through the tournaments, and, who knows? This being a Square-Enix game, you may even encounter a Final Fantasy character or two at the end! While critics were a bit tentative towards Mario Hoops 3-on-3 due to the controls, we feel this is also what makes the game quite interesting. It’s a bit unpolished, but there’s a neat idea in there, attempting to capture the feeling of playing basketball rather than playing as an omniscient commander like you would in a console sports sim. It’s an engaging experience, and we’d love to see Mario return to the court some day!

9. Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

[sourceLink asin="B00DC7O3K6" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii U" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Sega, Nintendo SPD Group 4 " item4="Release Dates" content4="November 13th, 2013 (US)" ][/en]

Mario, Sonic, and their friends return to the Olympics once again to participate in the Sochi Winter games! In addition to the standard skiing and bobsledding that was found in the previous iteration, you’ll find doubles skating and snowboarding added to the series’ repertoire! Or, if you want to forgo reality, you can try out some of the dream games: Olympic events with special items and powers that you’d expect from Mario and Sonic. In Mario & Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, you’ll find a beautiful sports game with tons of content to boot. Even the most negative of reviewers had to at least admit the number of unlockable costumes was seriously impressive. But even if you want to play with your friends, it’s a great Mario sports game. Nabbing the unlockables will just give you extra practice over your friends when it’s party time.

8. Mario Superstar Baseball

[sourceLink asin="B0009XEC0C" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="GameCube" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Namco" item4="Release Dates" content4="August 29th, 2005 (US)" ][/en]

It’s time for a good old fashioned game of baseball! You’ve got your choice of 6 teams led by Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Bowser, and Wario, and then it’s game time. Of course, this being a Mario game, there’s a little more than just a simple game of baseball! You can buy power-ups and special moves for your players, like Mario’s fireballs or Wario’s garlic to out maneuver your opponents, or engage in special baseball-themed mini-games. What really sets Mario Superstar Baseball out among its peers is the single-player content. In addition to the Mini-Game mode, which hosts a whole slew of mini-game tasks for you to complete, there’s a rich challenge mode for you to tackle. Challenge mode comes complete with several different maps to travel around in to complete different missions, adding tons of single-player rich content for the lonely sports gamer to play around with.

7. Mario Sports Mix

It’s been an odd day in the Mushroom Kingdom. A meteor of some kind has crashed into the gardens, and the local Toads are on the job to investigate. At the scene of the impact, they discover four crystals of red, blue, yellow, and green. These crystals naturally give them the idea to hold a mega sports tournament! There, the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom will play Hockey, Volleyball, Dodgeball, and Basketball for the chance to win each of the crystals. “Simple” has often been used to describe Mario Sports Mix, but we feel this is actually a point in its favor. The incredibly simple mechanics have been polished to a mirror shine, allowing for some fiendishly strategic sports shenanigans. While they’re all fun, Dodgeball is the real stand-out of the set of games, and we wish Nintendo would make it its own game!

6. Mario Super Sluggers

[sourceLink asin="B001APM444" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii, Wii U" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Bandai-Namco, Now Production" item4="Release Dates" content4="August 25th, 2008" ][/en]

Mario and friends just wanted a relaxing vacation in the Baseball Kingdom. But, of course, Bowser has to ruin everything as always. He comes crashing in on Mario’s little baseball party and blows it sky high. As a result, Mario’s been separated from all his friends and has to travel around the Baseball Kingdom in order to find them, plus have one final game with Bowser to settle the score. What makes Super Sluggers distinct from the original game are the motion controls. Rather than just using a controller to order characters to act, you’ll actually swing and throw the Wii Remote to simulate batting and hitting! It perfectly reflects Nintendo’s pick-up and play mindset when it comes to developing party games, while also drowning the player in a flood of fanservice. Heck, when was the last time we’ve seen old King K. Rool in a game?

5. Mario Tennis

[sourceLink asin="B000641ZC2" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Nintendo 64, Wii, Wii U" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Camelot Software Planning" item4="Release Dates" content4="August 28th, 2000" ][/en]

It’s your standard tennis game, but with your favorite Mario characters! Each character falls into their own play-style. You’ve got Mario and Luigi as the all-arounders, characters like Peach and Toad who favor ball placement as Technique players, power hitters like Wario and Bowser who can really smash it, speedy players like Yoshi and Birdo who can cover a lot of ground quickly, and weirdos with tricky shots like Paratroopa and Boo who can curve their slices. Find your favorite playstyle and hit the court! While Mario Golf was the first of what we know now as the Mario sports line, it feels like the series didn’t really hit its stride until Mario Tennis. Mario Tennis is the one that really made Mario sports games the multiplayer juggernaut that they are now… which is odd considering it’s actually a pretty basic tennis game! But putting the familiar face of Mario on a universally loved game is also how the sport got introduced to many of us as kids, and taught us all how the game actually worked early in our lives!

4. Mario Golf: Advance Tour

[sourceLink asin="B00009WAUM" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="GameBoy Advance, Wii U" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Camelot Software Planning" item4="Release Dates" content4="June 22nd, 2004" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

You’ll choose between either Neil or Ella when you start the story mode. You’ll take golf classes, play mini-games and even make new clubs to slowly hone your skills at the game. Your goal? Training to become the world’s best golfer and eventually golf with Mario himself! One of the biggest draws to the handheld Mario sports game line has been the RPG mode. While simply playing the golf game is certainly fun, there’s something rewarding about building up your own player and sending them through the ringer to become stronger. It takes advantage of the lack of easily accessible multiplayer that comes with handheld gaming but still keeps you at your system for hours on end. Combine that with Camelot’s traditionally gorgeous sprite work and you’ve got yourself a winner!

3. Mario Power Tennis

[sourceLink asin="B000641ZC2" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="GameCube, Wii" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Camelot Software Planning" item4="Release Dates" content4="November 8th, 2004 (US)" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Those accursed Mario brothers have once again taken the lead in the doubles tennis tournament! Wario and Waluigi have gotten knocked out within the first round, but they want their revenge! Bowser’s willing to help out, though, and sets them on an impromptu tennis training camp! So, just before the final round, Wario and Waluigi take over and assault them with Bob-ombs! Mario and Luigi’s quick tennis skills save the day, though, and now it’s back to tennis fun as normal! While the original Mario Tennis set the mechanics in place, Mario Power Tennis is the one that let Camelot get creative with how they could approach the sport. The power shots added that distinct Mario flair you want out of a Mario game while also adding tactical play to the flow of a match. Do you save your power shots to counter tricky shots? or use them to take the momentum? It’s the philosophy that Mario Tennis Aces is following, so it’s a worth a revisit if you’re excited!

2. Mario Tennis (GBC)

[sourceLink asin="B000056WXG" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="GameBoy Color" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Camelot Software Planning" item4="Release Dates" content4="January 16th, 2001 (US)" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

You’ll be attending the Royal Academy for tennis as either Alex or Nina. While there, you’ll take classes to exercise and build up your stats to slowly get better at the game. The stronger you get, the higher level opponents you’ll be able to take on. By doing so, you’ll be able to build up your rank high enough to get the attention of the Island Open, where you’ll be able to face off against Mario in an exhibition game. Wait, didn’t we list this game already? Yes technically we did in the N64 version, but we felt it necessary to separate the GameBoy Color version of Mario Tennis from the N64 game, as they’re actually two very different games. The RPG mechanics were novel at the time (though originated the Gameboy Color Version of Mario Golf), and we’re happy to see Mario Power Aces bring back the concept of an adventure mode in the Mario Sports games.

1. Mario Strikers Charged

[sourceLink asin="B005EIIS4S" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Wii, Wii U" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Next Level Games" item4="Release Dates" content4="July 30th, 2007" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Finally, Mario’s take on the world’s game! Choose your captain between your favorite Mario characters, and then play some soccer! However, this being Mario, this is no ordinary game of soccer. Each captain has their own Mega Strike, which is a powerful shot that almost assures a goal unless the opposing goalie can counter with a Mega Block. There are various Mario themed items like Shells, Banana Peels, and Stars strewn about the field, which can make or break the match! Get together with your friends or practice on your own in Mario Strikers Charged’s mission mode and get cracking! Mario Strikers Charged represents everything you want out of a great Mario Sports game. It’s technical enough to make sure skilled players are the ones who come out on top, but silly enough with the items and super moves that it’s just as good as a party game. Not only that, but the extra layer of polish really shines through in Mario Strikers Charged, as each player animation is infused with personality. Daisy stomps and takes her anger out on her teammates when someone scores against her, Mario showboats with handsprings and jumps when he scores, and so forth. It’s the perfect Mario sports game no matter what you’re looking for!

Top 10 Luckiest Anime Characters

Some people just have all the luck, but it’s rare to be lucky all the time. So it’s quite common, especially in Japan, to pray for additional luck. For anyone who perceives him or herself as inherently unlucky, a fortune promising good luck can produce all the confidence needed to face the next day. Of course, some people are just born lucky. The ten characters on this list are all like that. Some have had second chances at life, while others have simply been blessed with skills that make them superior to everyone around them. Some have even achieved their dreams or overcome obstacles without having to work a day in their lives. They’re all inherently lucky, and that makes us all jealous of them.

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

10. Aoba Suzukaze from New Game!

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B01HWRZUZS" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="12" item2="Aired" content2="July 2016 – September 2016" ]

Aoba is living the video game player’s fantasy: working her dream job at the development company responsible for creating her favorite video game of all time. She even works under her role model (Kou Yagami), and regularly interacts with talented individuals in the gaming industry. She also doesn’t face many speed bumps within her first year on the job. The first character she has to 3D model takes a bit longer than she would like, but Kou regularly remarks how much faster and more efficiently Aoba is improving in comparison to the artists who have previously had Aoba’s role. The first game Aoba’s is a part of gets developed without much fuss. In the video game design world, that’s unheard of. It’s insane that Aoba gets to, for the most part, skate on by through her first game release. The major crunch time she’s warned about is resolved rather quickly and the few other problems that occasionally pop-up are almost all interpersonal relationship-related. Aoba is incredibly lucky to be blessed to work with caring colleagues, never face any form of work-related harassment, and launch her first game without fear of cancellations or major delays. Aoba’s second year at the company (New Game!!) proves to be much more challenging for her, but she really lucked out with her first job straight out of high school.

9. Rin from Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="NEOBK-1818784" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="11" item2="Aired" content2="July 2011 – September 2011" ]

After her father passed away, no one in her family wanted Rin. Her father was old enough to have several grown grandchildren, so the rest of her family saw her as an embarrassment. She would have gone to an orphanage if it wasn’t for the kindness and patience of Daikichi Kawachi, who became her legal guardian. Daikichi is a 30-year-old, single bachelor who’s never taken care of a kid before in his life. Most men would have fled from the situation and abandoned Rin, but Daikichi stuck with her. Rin is lucky to have been taken in by someone like Daikishi, who both showed her how to love again and helped her take her first steps towards becoming an adult. She ran the risk of turning out much worse had she been left alone.

8. Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B002TEYRY0" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="175" item2="Aired" content2="October 2009 – March 2016" ]

Lucy is just some random wizard in the land of Fiore. We learn she’s the daughter of a pretty famous celestial wizard and she joins Fairy Tail, an infamous guild known for its strength, but she’s just another wizard. So it’s pretty surprising she’s able to acquire 10 of the 12 Gold Celestial Keys. Celestial Keys are the tools that celestial wizards use to summon the spirits they can utilize in battle. The gold keys are especially valuable as they unlock the 12 strongest spirits. Lucy starts her journey with 3 (which she inherits from her late mother), but over the course of her journey she manages to snag 7 more. The anime makes a big deal about how rare these golden keys are, and makes a point that it’s practically unheard of for any celestial wizard to possess more than 2-3 golden keys at a time, but Lucy eventually possesses more than three times that number. It’s not like she’s actively searching for the keys either. She lucks into them. They either (sometimes quite literally) fall into her lap, or she defeats evil celestial wizards and their spirits join Lucy to be with a stronger and kinder wizard. Lucy is also pretty lucky to be associated with the strongest team in Fairy Tail (alongside Natsu, Wendy, Gray, and Erza), as her level of power doesn’t match that of dragon slayers, a demon slayer, or a knight requip magician. She’s usually the one in need of rescuing. Luckily, Natsu is almost always there for her.

7. Kazuma Satou from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="http://www.crunchyroll.com/konosuba-gods-blessing-on-this-wonderful-world/episode-3-peace-for-the-master-of-this-labyrinth-727593" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="20" item2="Aired" content2="January 2016 – March 2017" ]

Kazuma is one of the luckiest anime characters around. Sure, he died a pretty embarrassing death, but he got a second chance at life! Yes, his companions are all idiots, but at least none of them can bypass the incredible luck he has at Rock-Paper-Scissors. And even if he and his friends constantly fall on hard times, they always somehow manage to find a way to overcome the obstacles in their path. It might be better to say that Kazuma is the luckiest unlucky person ever. Consistently, monsters, demons, cults, or the police find a way to ruin his happy life, whether via obsessive sign-up campaigns or criminal charges. However, the perverted otaku unfailingly proves to be one of the luckiest adventurers of all time. He’s certainty not thinking or fighting his way out of the situations he finds himself in. He’s too pathetically weak and stupid for that.

6. Naho Takamiya from Orange

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B01HNOSEP8" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="July 2016 – September 2016" ]

Naho is one of the few characters in anime who actually knows her own future. She receives a letter on her first day of sophomore year of high school, warning her of future events she will come to regret. The letter is signed by her future self, and after several of the events in the letter turn out to be true, Naho realizes the letter is genuine. Through the letter, Naho gets a “second chance” at life. She’s doing everything for the first time, but the letter gives her the confidence to try things differently from how her future self did them, as well as express her feelings and thoughts more openly. Following the letter’s advice also gives her the chance to save the life of Kakeru Naruse, a transfer student who would have committed suicide at the end of the school year. Naho clearly has romantic feelings for him, and her future self unmistakably regrets never having the opportunity to at least express those feelings while Kakeru was still alive. By the end of the anime, we see how future Naho delivered the letter to her past self. The process is based on mathematical probabilities but has such a miniscule chance at success, it’s a wonder Naho is able to send a letter through time at all. She’s really lucky it worked.

5. Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui (Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B073569SQW" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="12" item2="Aired" content2="July 2017 – September 2017" ]

Yumeko transfers into Hyakkaou Private Academy and turns the school on its head. The academy is designed to train future politicians and business leaders by churning out gifted gamblers who know how to win. Yumeko doesn’t care about winning, though. She just wants to experience drastic stakes and push both her sanity and her opponent’s to their very limits. A gambler who just likes to gamble would normally ride a rollercoaster of ups and downs, but Yumeko is insanely lucky. She’s naturally talented at most games, but skill only takes you so far when dealing with games of chance. However, even when the odds are stacked against her, she’s able to claim victory. She truly only loses once in the entire anime, and it’s solely because outside forces interfered. Yumeko wins everything else, from Blackjack to Russian Roulette. It’s more than a little unsettling to watch her face twist into demented contortions as she gets off on the rush of betting it all, but it’s even more unnerving to see her, somehow, single-handedly destroy an entire casino and control people like they were her puppets.

4. Sugimoto Saichi from Golden Kamuy

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="crunchyroll" url="http://www.crunchyroll.com/golden-kamuy/episode-1-wenkamuy-769171" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="12" item2="Aired" content2="April 2018 – Ongoing" ]

Nicknamed “Sugimoto the Immortal,” Sugimoto just won’t die. It’s not like his enemies aren’t trying either. Sugimoto has been stabbed, shot, punched, bludgeoned, and plunged into frozen cold water. The scars crisscrossing all over his body prove he’s been through dozens of other near-death experiences long before the anime even started. Yet the dude has a survival instinct second to none. He seemingly wills himself to stay alive. Sugimoto also lucks out twice near the beginning of the anime. First, when Sugimoto is in need of some money, he just so happens to meet a criminal who drunkenly reveals how to locate a hidden stash of gold. Plenty of things had to go Sugimoto’s way for that to happen. Second, after his journey to recover the gold starts with the challenge of defeating a man-killing bear, Sugimoto meets a young woman who possesses the exact skills needed to accomplish such a task. It’s not quite deus ex machina levels of coincidence, but it’s pretty close.

3. Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs (Bungo Stray Dogs)

[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="24" item2="Aired" content2="April 2016 – December 2016" ]

Dazai is lucky in more ways than one. A brilliant strategist and hand-to-hand combatant, Dazai is one of the best investigators and fighters for the Armed Detective Agency, a collective of superpowered detectives who tackle crimes the normal police can’t (or won’t) handle. In a world where the most dangerous criminals are born with supernatural abilities, Dazai is blessed with one of the luckiest superpowers of them all: No Longer Human. With just the touch of his hand, Dazai can cancel out the ability of any other person. It doesn’t matter whether his opponent has the ability to transform into a fierce tiger or manipulate gravity, Dazai can reduce any fight to a bout of fisticuffs within moments. Dazai is also one of the few ex-members of the Port Mafia who didn’t leave the organization in a body bag. Dazai was an elite enforcer for the criminal empire before becoming disillusioned with their mission and joining the side of law and order. He had good friends who helped him see a way out of a life of crime before he completely lost himself to darkness. Dazai was lucky enough to be accepted by the Armed Detective Agency, where he discovered a new family and a chance to bring out the best in others. Dazai also has the peculiar knack of being terrible at suicide. Though he does eventually devote his energies elsewhere later in the anime, Dazai spends a good deal of Bungo Stray Dogs’ first season trying to kill himself. In every instance, the most bizarre occurrence of luck stops him just short of completing the deed. You’re pretty lucky, Dazai. Whether you like it or not, you’ve got an angel looking out for you.

2. Makoto Naegi from Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation (Danganronpa: The Animation)

Any protagonist who manages to make it through the twisted, demented plot lines of a horror anime without suffering bodily harm is incredibly lucky. However, Danganronpa takes demented to new levels, and Naegi is one lucky guy to survive the events of Hope Academy. The death trap Naegi and his fellow students find themselves in is purposively designed to stoke despair and snuff out all hope. Even though he and a few of his classmates do manage to escape, Naegi should have been mentally and emotionally scarred. It’s nothing short of a miracle that he makes it out while still maintaining a positive outlook on life. There’s also the small matter that he’s suspected as the first murderer in the academy on the second day. If it weren’t for the intervention of the stoic Kyoko Kirigiri, he’d have been killed. Guess his classmates can count themselves lucky too, because if they had wrongly convicted him, they’d all have been killed off.

1. Yuugi Mutou from Yu-Gi-Oh!

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="408618575X" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="27" item2="Aired" content2="April 1998 – October 1998" ]

“I believed in the heart of the cards,” is the closest Yuugi ever gets to saying, “I was very, very, very, very lucky,” but that’s exactly what it means. Yuugi plays a card game that’s as much based on chance as any other. Is there strategy involved when playing the game? Sure, absolutely. That doesn’t ever excuse someone pulling all five of Exodia’s pieces to win a duel, and then following that performance by obliterating all five pieces of the Exodia in the possession of the Seeker of the Red Hunters. Who’s skilled enough to use Exodia and then talented enough to stop someone else from using it? No one, that’s who. Decks are shuffled before each duel, so pulling even one piece of Exodia is purely contingent on chance (as is pulling a card that could destroy the pieces and knowing exactly when to play it). Yuugi is just lucky enough to pull off both, though.

Final Thoughts

8Luck is weird. It’s rare, so you have to be lucky to be lucky. It must be nice, though. People who are lucky never have to worry about themselves or their problems, because they know that anything concerning them will work out for the best. Seeing a lucky person does create strange, conflicting emotions within normal or unlucky people though. On one hand, it feels good to watch a lucky hero utilize their hidden skill to undermine the efforts of a truly evil villain. On the other hand, it never feels like audiences have to worry about lucky heroes. As long as the luck holds, nothing will harm them. What do you think? Are you a fan of lucky heroes, or do you prefer that your heroes work and think hard for their results? Who’s your favorite lucky character?

While it has only been a month since the anime adaptation for Devils Line released, we already are seeing a lot of promise for this awesome show. Bookworm Ken Kaneki has been living his college days without a care in the world. Recently though, Ken has found something that has captured his eyes more than books in the form of a beautiful girl named Rize. Ecstatic that he’s finally able to go on a date with Rize, Ken thinks the night can’t get any better. Unfortunately, Ken’s smile will be ruined when Rize reveals herself to not be a woman but instead a ghoul which are known for killing humans to devour them for food. Ken somehow survives almost being devoured by Rize but at a high cost…Ken is no longer human but something of a fusion between human and ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul and Devils Line have been something we’ve mentioned being similar in our 6 Manga Like Devils Line article as these two stories are just so alike to one another. Both stories feature humans that end up wrapped up in a deadly world of bloodsucking creatures—though ghouls tend to eat meat too—and both stories present a very interesting question. Who is more human, the actual humans or the creatures themselves? Tokyo Ghoul is a great anime that deserves the praise and admiration it gets and we think if you haven’t check it out yet but like Devils Line, now is the best time to do so. Plus, Tokyo Ghoul has more than 3 seasons now so you will have plenty of episodes to binge while you wait for more Devils Line.

The day and night classes for Cross Academy are separated into what seem like two very different class structures. During the night, elite students roam the halls and are guided by Yuuki Cross—who happens to be the chairman’s adopted daughter—who won't complain as she gets to see her crush, Kaname. However, Yuuki’s job isn't easy seeing as the so called elite students of Cross Academy aren't normal but are vampires! Can these vampires be kept away from the general public and still have a somewhat normal life? Better yet, can they and Yuuki survive the troubles associated with human and vampire mingling?! Vampire Knight hits many of the notes found in Devils Line. Strong women who face adversity in the supernatural form, check. Vampires and humans trying to get along, check. Then finally, the fact that both Vampire Knight and Devils Line have romance in a shoujo-like format just adds to both shows complimenting each other quite well. Vampire Knight might be a bit old since it was released in 2008—even though we don’t consider that super old—but we love this show and you’ll enjoy it too. If you love Devils Line, we recommend checking out Vampire Knight by Studio Deen.

3. Ajin (Ajin: Demi-Human)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B019ILZK60" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="Jan, 2016- Apr, 2016" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Ajin were found 17 years ago in the country of Africa and ever since then, humanity has become afraid of these beings. Known for being immortal and possibly dangerous, those who are suspected of being Ajin are immediately hunted and sent for testing. However, this wasn’t a concern for Kei Nagai who just wished to go to school and further his studies. Then one day when Kei is nearly killed by a truck, he realizes a harrowing truth; Kei isn’t human but is an Ajin himself! Kei’s day of being a normal student are over and now he will become hunted by not only those who wish to run tests on him but others who wish to recruit him for a revolution on the human race... Ajin points a very dark question in your mind from episode one of the first season to the last episode of the second. Why are Ajin hated so much when most are just trying to assimilate into society? This might seem like a familiar question as it’s a question seen in Devils Line where the devils—aka vampires in our minds—are finding joy not by ruthlessly killing humans but being with them and even falling in love. The biggest difference between shows would be that Ajin tends to lean more towards action and drama with almost no romance seen in the show. Yet, we think for those who dislike the romantic portions of Devils Line and lean towards the blood-soaked conflicts that this ultimately will be what makes you want to check out Ajin if you haven’t already.

Sotoba village is a quiet landscape devoid of the city life and more for those who like traditional livelihood. Megumi Shimizu however, hates Sotoba and wishes for nothing more to leave this boring town and head for the busy Japanese city life. Megumi won’t ever see her dreams come to fruition though as she—like several others—dies abruptly by what seems like a strange illness spreading through the village. Doctor Toshio Ozaki aims to learn what is the cause of these strange deaths to save Sotoba and its residents, but he will soon learn that this isn’t an illness that is killing the residents. Lurking behind the quiet village is a new family that moved in and within their strange castle, a dark plot is brewing. Can the villagers survive what will soon purge their village of all that lives? Devils Line might be romantic and action packed at times but let’s also state something else about it. At times, Devils Line can be quite dark and horror-like. However, do you need more horror than what is provided in Devils Line? If you said yes then you are looking for Shiki. Filled with vampires, mystery and horror, Shiki is the quintessential vampire horror that is semi missing from Devils Line. Turn off the lights, folks, and put on Shiki; you’ll be in for one heck of a ride.

Yuuichirou Hyakuya and his adopted family have found their lives devastated when a strange virus kills all adults over the age of 13. Quickly, Yuuichirou and his family learn that this was spread by vampires who wish to take over the world and make it their own place. Enslaving the surviving teens and kids, the vampires use those alive as cattle for their blood consumption. Yuuichirou and Mikaela decide to attempt an escape when Mikaela gains a map and gun stolen from a noble vampire. Unfortunately, the noble knew of Mikaela’s plan and kills him as well as all of Yuuichirou’s family right before his eyes. Able to escape, Yuuichirou is met by a team of vampire killers and he soon learns that not everyone has died in the world. Seeking revenge, Yuuichirou joins Guren and his team to rid the Earth of vampires…no matter what it takes. Owari no Seraph by Wit Studios is easily one of our favorite action orientated vampire anime ever made. We love how gorgeous the animation is and equally love the story it tells of humans fighting against vampires. Owari no Seraph mirrors Devils Line in many ways—some of which are spoilers—meaning it’s a good series to recommend to you folks who love Devils Line for the action it has. Don’t you want to see the revenge Yuuichirou plans on unleashing upon the vampires? The answer obviously is a yes so go watch Owari no Seraph as soon as humanly possible.

Both stories have main characters who get involved with vampires and both anime have no fear of being action heavy when they need to be. Final Thoughts

When Devils Line—the anime adaptation—was announced, we wondered would it be as good as the manga series. So far, our expectations have been met and we’re really digging the style of Devils Line and the story in anime format. Most likely when Devils Line does come to a close, it won’t be finished and will need a second season. That’s why, besides watching the shows above to bide the time for each passing week’s new episode, you should check them out and be prepared to enjoy them once Devils Line season 1—though it hasn’t been green lit for a season 2 yet so this is speculation—comes to a close. What are your thoughts about Devils Line and equally the anime above? Warning: This manga contains violence, drugs and other unsuitable content for all ages. If you are a minor, please choose another of our articles to read. It was the end of the eighties; Katsuhiro Otomo decided to get inspiration from a classical robot anime in black and white called Gigantor (in English). He completely transformed the innocent looking story into an extreme rendition to rebellion and the spirit of youth. In an apocalyptic setting in Japan (where else?), we testify about the fight of several factions for the control of Neo Tokyo and the showdown of two friends/rivals. If you are not a fan of manga in particular, you probably don’t know that there are vast differences between the anime and manga of Akira. As the manga is longer, it had more space to develop every single character that only has a few seconds in the film. However, what makes both versions stand out and be the classics they are is their visual style, the vitality of each scene and the genial way science fiction and the Japanese spirit is combined. What other manga try to do renditions of the same topics like Akira? Let’s try to find out!

Similar Manga to Akira

1. Denmu Jikuu (Chronowar)

[en][information_general item1 = "Authors" content1="Kazumasa Takayama" item2="Genres" content2="Action, Drama, Sci-Fi, Psychological, Seinen" item3 = "Volumes" content3="1" item4="Published" content4="1994" ][/en]

Denmu Jikuu is one of the few works by Kazumasa Takayama. In this story, Tokyo is once more in danger as a satellite is heading towards it. The city has been evacuated with the exception of three citizens who, due to different reasons, stay behind. One of them is a housewife called Chiaki, who after the satellite hits, discovers that someone has came with it! Just by looking at the cover, we see an art style similar to the creator of Akira, Katsuhiro Otomo. We also have an unexpected encounter with the supernatural combined with science fiction here. The strong female characters cannot be missed either. The main difference is the length of the manga. Therefore, if you are into the mood for a quick read, Denmu Jikuu is the sci-fi manga for you!

2. Sarah - The Legend of Mother Sarah

Katsuhiro Otomo had to appear again somehow in this article, as he has so much interesting material under his mangaka sleeve. He wrote the story of Sarah, while Takumi Nagayasu did the illustrations. In this story, we see a poisoned Earth while humans have migrated to space colonies. However, after a terrorist attack, people are forced to go back to the unwelcoming Earth. During the process, Sarah becomes separated from her family, so she begins her journey to reunite with them. The truth is that Sarah was inspired by a secondary character who appears frequently in the manga of Akira: Chiyoko, the weapons expert. She and Sarah are badasses ready for everything and willing to survive. Their stories are set in post apocalyptic worlds which are rather bleak. However, although it looks like everything is action and violence, the truth is that both Akira and Sarah are stories that treat their protagonists in depth, exposing their human vulnerabilities and highlighting the dramas of their lives. So, if what you liked about Akira was the background story of the characters, you can give Sarah a try.

3. Variante

Iqura Sugimoto has published several manga, among them Summer Wars. In Variante, we meet Aiko, a girl who wakes up in a laboratory after her family dies. Her arm has become a Chimera, a powerful and barely controllable monster. Will she be able to control it or will she have to end her own life? Tetsuo is not the only guy around with mysterious powers that could destroy the world. If Aiko and Tetsuo do not control their emotions, their powers will take over. If you like the topic of an evil organization doing experiments on people, well, Variante is an option for you. Also, the relationship between Aiko and other experiment subjects reminds us of Tetsuo and company. So, if you ever wondered what would have happen if said Tetsuo was a girl, you can well read Variante to find out :)

4. Gantz

[sourceLink asin="1595823018" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Authors" content1="Hiroya Oku" item2="Genres" content2="Action, Drama, Ecchi, Horror, Sci-Fi, Supernatural, Psychological, Seinen" item3 = "Volumes" content3="37" item4="Published" content4="Jul 13, 2000 to Jun 20, 2013" ][/en]

Hiroya Oku is famous for authoring manga that is difficult to stomach, and with this, we mean that his themes are mature. Before his most recent success (Inuyashiki), there was Gantz. The protagonist is Kei Kurono, who finds himself caught in a strange game when he dies. His skills and morals will be tested while he develops bonds with other members of the Gantz theme. Kei Kurono and Kaneda have a lot in common. They are rebellious and violent teenagers who are leaders of gangs in worlds where only the fittest can survive. Both manga have social commentaries and reflect on having special powers that come with heavy responsibilities. The main difference is that Gantz is longer, and can get a bit repetitive sometimes, while Akira ends at the optimal length.

5. Ultra Heaven

[sourceLink asin="2723459934" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Authors" content1="Keiichi Koike" item2="Genres" content2="Drama, Sci-Fi, Psychological, Seinen" item3 = "Volumes" content3="3" item4="Published" content4="2001 - In Hiatus" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Mangaka" content1="___content1___" item2="Género" content2="___content2___" item3 = "Volúmenes" content3="___content3___" item4="Publicado" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Keiichi Koike used to be more active in the nineties, publishing several manga that are as psychedelic and sombre as this one. Ultra Heaven tell us the story of a world where everyone is a potential drug addict. Kabu is a little peddler and (you guessed) a drug addict, one who hates those who made the society as it is. When he is offered the Ultra Heaven, he goes one more step deeper into the conscience. But what really is Ultra Heaven and why was it given to Kabu? Will he be able to discover it or will he be consumed by the drug? One aspect of the manga of Akira that is not explored in depth in the film is that drugs run heavily in Kaneda’s world. That is one of the reasons the world is in such a state of disarray. We have a similar atmosphere of hopelessness in Ultra Heaven, with some weird dreams also thrown in the mix. The only bad thing about this manga is that it is on hiatus.

6. 20th Century Boys

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="4091875505" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Authors" content1="Naoki Urasawa" item2="Genres" content2="Mystery, Drama, Historical, Sci-Fi, Psychological, Seinen" item3 = "Volumes" content3="22" item4="Published" content4="Sep 27, 1999 to Apr 24, 2006" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Mangaka" content1="___content1___" item2="Género" content2="___content2___" item3 = "Volúmenes" content3="___content3___" item4="Publicado" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

Naoki Urasawa is a monster of the seinen genre. His works have been frequently adapted to anime, but you probably have heard of him because of his opera prima, “Monster”. In 20th Century Boys, a strange cult is dominating the city. When the protagonist, Kenji Endo, finds out one of his friends committed suicide, he realizes that this cult is much more than it looks. Reuniting his childhood friends, Kenji decides to fight back in order to save the world. If what you enjoyed about Akira was the complexity of the characters and their world combined with raw action, 20th Century Boys will satisfy you. Naoki Urasawa is a master at dealing with big casts, giving them detailed background stories. Both authors know how to keep your attention and curiosity, alternating action scenes with more philosophical ones. The advantage of 20th Century Boys is that it is loooong, so you can enjoy it little by little.

Final Thoughts

Akira was the first contact with japanese animation for many. However, as you can see, there are many more waiting among the masters of Japanese manga. Complex stories full of criticism towards those in power and that exalt the rebellion of youth are not uncommon. However, what Akira and other similar manga excel at is in questioning the individual motifs and their relationships with others. What other manga like Akira do you know? Don’t forget that we are open to all your comments and suggestions. See you soon!

At a young age, Cardia Beckford lived with her father in a village enduring non stop attacks from the villagers. This was due to the fact that Cardia was seen as not a normal girl but something of a monster due to her strange body filled with a deadly substance that destroys anything she touches. Now older, Cardia has been locked away in a tower to be hidden away from the world. Cardia waits patiently hoping death will come to her sooner than later. However, what ends up coming to Cardia is a man named Lupin who wishes to steal her away for reasons unknown. What will happen next for Cardia as she ends up looking for her father and entering the journey of her life? Mystery, intrigue and handsome single men are just some of the themes found in Nil Admirari no Tenbin. Equally, the same concepts are also in Code:Realize - Sousei no Himegimi. With an action-packed story of dark mysteries surrounding Cardia and her father, Code:Realize - Sousei no Himegimi is an incredible anime series that grips the audience from start to finish. We personally loved Code:Realize - Sousei no Himegimi and we think you readers will too. Solid animation—thanks to studio M.S.C—and a wonderful story will be just a few of the reasons why we recommend Code:Realize - Sousei no Himegimi.

Magic-Kyun! Renaissance tells the story of a young woman named Kohana Aigasaki as she attends a rather strange school. In Kohana’s world, art isn’t only beautiful but it can also create magic in a multitude of ways. This new school Kohana has been enrolled in called Hoshinomori Private Magical Arts High School where talented creators use their magical art powers—called Artistas—to show their skills and find a place in the world of show business. Kohana herself gets wrapped up with some of these students with their lofty aspirations to make an event at the school known as the Hoshinomori Summer Festa cultural festival—or Hoshi Fes—a resounding success. Though love may also become an art as the six students Kohana gets paired up with all happen to be attractive artists who wish to win her heart! One anime has cursed books that cause strange magical things to happen and another series focuses on art that can become literal magic. While Magic-Kyun! Renaissance might be lighter in tone than Nil Admirari no Tenbin, the two shows are still perfect for those who love reverse harems. Magic-Kyun! Renaissance also had some awesome ideas that made the fellow artist in us imagine a world where art could become literal magic. Needless to say, if you missed out on Magic-Kyun! Renaissance in 2016, now is the time to binge it. It will be the perfect way to spend a weekend waiting for more Nil Admirari no Tenbin to release.

The year is 1864 in Japan and Chizuru Yukimura is on a mission that she must accomplish. Her father—who is a doctor known for going far and wide—has gone missing and Chizuru worries for his safety. Thus, with an elaborate plan of infiltrating Kyoto to search for him, Chizuru heads off disguised as a man. Unfortunately, during her search, Chizuru witness a strange white haired man killing someone and then being eliminated by a group of Shinsengumi! Chizuru is asked what her intentions were, but when she tells them she is looking for her father, Chizuru is amazed that the Shinsengumi, too, are searching for him. Little does poor Chizuru realize though that aligning herself with these men will engulf her in a war that is mixed with politics and sinister plots… If you were in the mood for a more action-packed story than what is offered by Nil Admirari no Tenbin, we recommend checking out the samurai epic known as Hakuouki. Originally an otome based visual novel game, Hakuouki is filled with samurai action, supernatural themes—just like Nil Admirari no Tenbin—and a slew of attractive samurai warriors. Hakuouki is definitely one of those series that we think can appeal to any gender and group of anime watchers as it just is a cool show with solid animation—from Studio Deen—and a solid story that will wow you from episode one to twelve. Samurai fans and otome lovers who missed Hakuouki when it released in 2010 need to rectify this situation immediately!

Yui Kusanagi is just your average girl who just so happens to end up in a rather unusual situation. Yui has been taken from her home world and sent to a strange foreign land to teach the gods of this world what it means to be human. While Yui wouldn’t hate this situation—seeing as how these gods are pretty hot looking guys—there is one small problem with Yui and the gods being in this world. If Yui fails to teach them how to be human in one year, they will forever remain in this realm! Can Yui teach gods to be like her?! Have you gotten tired about hearing attractive anime dudes yet? We here at Honey’s Anime doubt it, and that’s why we have another perfect anime filled with guys to ogle at. Known as Kamigami no Asobi, this isekai themed anime is filled to the brim with romance, harem elements and fantasy elements perfect for an isekai infused story. Yui from Kamigami no Asobi and Kuze from Nil Admirari no Tenbin might be in different situations, but they share the concept that both were normal until something awe inspiring happened. Plus, both girls are surrounded by dudes who want them, so there’s that, too.

Let us wrap up our 6 Anime Like Nil Admirari no Tenbin list with another magical based reverse harem in the form of the music themed Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo. While Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo focuses on magic and not books, that doesn’t make this anime series any less comparable to Nil Admirari no Tenbin. Both shows have a wonderful animation style and both shows share the theme of a young girl showing her talents despite being so normal. It’s a rather tried and true theme to hear about but Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo does a great job of keeping the cliché elements fun and exciting. If you need a step away from the action and want some comedy, music, drama and romance we recommend watching Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo. We were truly impressed by Violet Evergarden by studio Kyoto Animation as this was an emotional thrill ride from episode 1 to episode 13. Watching Violet—our main female lead—go from an emotional woman born and raised on the battlefield to someone who was filled with understanding and care was nothing but sheer beauty. It’s rare that there is a military focused anime that puts an emphasis on the story after the war has concluded but Violet Evergarden accomplished this and it did a fantastic job. Beautiful animation, a truly gripping narrative and a wonderful slew of characters, these are just some of the things you should expect to find while watching Violet Evergarden.

Have you ever just wanted to abandon your school days—at least for a few months—and go on an adventure but for some reason couldn’t find the courage to do so? Don’t feel bad readers, we’ve been like that before ourselves. However, for Shirase, Hinata, Yuzuki and Mari they refuse to let life pass them by without going on an adventure and that is the main theme behind Sora yori mo Tooi Basho. While studio Madhouse is usually known for making action orientated shows, Sora yori mo Tooi Basho focuses on gathering together a group of young girls and showing that sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith to make your dreams come to fruition. With stunning animation and some cute girls that eerily can be relatable to many people in the real world due to their personalities, Sora yori mo Tooi Basho should be a show watched by those who love adventure and wish they could muster the courage needed to just go for it sometimes. Seriously, after watching Sora yori mo Tooi Basho, we want to take a trip ourselves.

There were several great romance anime released in the winter 2018 season but one that really captured and tugged at our hearts continuously was Koi wa Ameagari no You ni from Wit Studios. While we weren’t sure about the taboo-like romance between the two main characters—Akira Tachibana and Masami Kondou are 20+ years apart—it didn’t take us long to actually forget that was a thing entirely and constantly hope these two hooked up in Koi wa Ameagari no You ni. We loved the strong-willed Akira as she tried to make some moves on Kondou and equally, we loved watching Masami’s reactions to a girl he knew was quite young for him. While the anime adaptation for Koi wa Ameagari no You ni is slightly different than the manga version—which ended recently—that doesn’t mean the story suffers in the slightest. We definitely recommend for those who want a different romance story to check out Koi wa Ameagari no You ni.

We love studio Trigger and we also love studio A1-Pictures—which are now going by the new name of CLOVERWORKS—but seeing them work together on Darling in the FranXX made us love them even more! This mecha/sci-fi/romance anime started in January and is still airing as of now, but it was easily one of the best shows to drop in the winter 2018 season, especially if you love different takes on mecha anime. Aside from the drama between Ichigo—which we don’t even want to get into—the characters for Darling in the FranXX, as well as the animation for it have been keeping us entertained every week since its release. Aside from the gorgeous Zero Two—who we actually wrote an article about if you care to read that—there is much to love about this intense post-apocalyptic story known as Darling in the FranXX. Go and catch up on Darling in the FranXX now so you can at least say you didn’t miss everything that aired last season.

Finally, let’s wrap up this quick anime list with another cute girl orientated show in the form of Yuru Camp. As anime and game addicts here at Honey’s Anime, camping isn’t for all of us here. Yet, watching Rin and Nadeshiko—alongside their friends—pitching tents in strange locations and just having fun with random events made us feel like camping might not be so bad. Yuru Camp was easily one of the sillier slice of life shows to air last winter, but it was perfect for those who got burned out with action and drama shows, which there was a significant amount of last season. Yuru Camp was one of the lesser talked about anime of winter 2018 and that’s a real shame as we loved it here at Honey’s Anime HQ. Now go pitch a tent in your backyard—if you have a tent and a backyard that is—and take your laptops outside to binge watch this awesome 12-episode show.

In the MMORPG Cross Reverie, Takuma Sakamoto boasted of such an overwhelming amount of power that other players referred to him as the Demon King. Then one day, he is summoned to another world in the form of his character from Cross Reverie. There, two girls insist “I am the one who summoned you.” The two girls attempt to cast enslavement magic upon him in order to make him into a slave. But! Takuma’s passive ability (Reflect Magic) activates! Now the girls are the ones who are enslaved to Takuma…!? The curtain rises now on the story of a (pretend) Demon King who plunges forward on an adventure in another world with his absolute power!
