Komori Yui has always been able to see the supernatural, but she didn’t know what repercussions her ability would result in. Now, Yui must face the most draining trial of her life as the object of these bishounen’s blood lust. It’s not fair to say that Ayato is the only male yandere in Diabolik Lovers. Clearly the entire anime appeals to yandere fans, but Ayato is a definite fan favorite. Ayato has shown a strong possessiveness over Yui and he shows his feelings for Yui by violently sucking her blood and treating her like fodder. Of course, his overwhelmingly possessiveness nature is due to his desperate need for affection, which was denied of him as a child. He just wants to be loved and although Ayato has a funny way of showing it, we just have to love him for it.

Kusanagi Yui is just a normal high school girl until she wakes up in a school for gods. Yui has been summoned by Zeus to teach the young gods what it means to be human. The humans and the gods have become out of touch, however Zeus wants to bring both worlds closer together. Yui must find a way to get these young gods to come to class or else they’ll never graduate! For our next male yandere we have the Norse god of light, Balder. Balder is one of the sweetest characters in Kamigami no Asobi and yet, when he falls in love with Yui, his switch flips. Unable to fathom that Yui does not love him in the same way, Balder has gone as far as attacking her. When he believes that Yui may have feelings for someone else, he’d rather no one have her. If that’s not yandere love, we don’t know what is. Balder is just a normal guy until he falls in love. Then you better hope you love him back or you’ll soon find out what yanderes do when they’re in love.

A young lady awakens one day with all of her memories lost. She no longer knows of her past relationships, her life, or even her name. All she has is a cell phone with the information of people she doesn’t know and an odd boy, Orion, who she is only able to see. In an attempt to gain her memories, she attempts to live her life as normally as possible without raising any suspicions, but is it really that easy? Based on one of the best selling otome games, Amnesia brings us an array of dere characters including Toma, Amnesia’ resident male yandere character! Toma just cares too much for the main character. He does everything in his power to protect her—even if it’s from herself! Toma decides that she’s a danger to herself because she doesn’t listen to him so he locks our main character up in an oversized dog cage. Of course, he gives her meals through a slot and talks to her through the bars. Isn’t Toma endearing? Toma only does it because he loves her. You have to love Toma because he shows us that not all yanderes have to slaughter people to show off their affection.

Yuuichirou and Mikaela have been reunited at the Shinjuku Battle, but Mikaela is now a vampire. To save his family, Yuuichirou pours all of himself into finding out how to turn a vampire back into a human while working on the Cursed Gear. However, there is a darker truth behind everything that they do not know. Guren has been ordered to go to Nagoya and thus, the noble extermination mission shall commence! Our next male yandere is of course, Mikaela! There’s no denying how much Yuuichirou and Mikaela love each other. They have that sort of special relationship, but just how far will they go for each other? Not only is Mikaela willing to work on the side of creatures he hates to find Yuuichirou, Mikaela is willing to kill off other humans who may harm Yuuichirou. If Mikaela is willing to slaughter the rest of the surviving humans for Yuuichirou, how can you deny that it’s yandere love?

Yuuki Miaka and Hongo Yui are normal junior high students just visiting the National Library when they are transported into a book called “The Universe of the Four Gods”. They find themselves in ancient China and Miaki discovers she is the priestess of Suzaku who must gather the celestial warriors to summon Suzaku. However, the nation of the god, Seiryuu, has decided to use Yui as the priestess of Seiryuu to thwart Miaka’s plans. Now it’s a race against time and a test of friendship to see who can summon her god first to make her wish. Suboshi may not be the warmest character in Fushigi Yuugi, but when it comes to Yui, his yandere love burns with real fire. Suboshi worships Yui as the priestess of Seiryuu to the point that he hates anyone that Yui hates, punishes anyone for hurting Yui, and will stretch himself thin to get Yui anything she wants when she wants it. As a celestial warrior of Seiryuu, he’ll abuse his own power to deliver a swift punishment for those who defy Yui. Suboshi is quite the dedicated celestial warrior. Although Suboshi may seem crazy most of the time, you can truly feel that underneath it all, he cares. Suboshi just doesn’t know how to properly show that he does.

Train Heartnet is renown as “Black Cat,” an infamous assassin working for the organization Chronos as indicated by the XIII tattooed on his body. Train knows nothing but violence and brutality which has caused him to grow up callous, but one day, a sweeper by the name of Saya enters his life changing all of his beliefs. Train decides to change his ways and becomes a Sweeper with the help of new friends Sven and Eve. Now at #5, Creed shows us his yandere love for the Black Cat, Train. Creed is willing to sacrifice everyone at his disposal and kill off innocent bystanders to get Train to join his side. Creed’s yandere love really drives a majority of Black Cat which makes it one of the few anime that focuses on a yandere obsession, but who doesn’t love that? In this way, we get to see the insight of what made a yandere. Maybe they’re a bit more complex than we give them credit for. Creed makes it seem that way.

The Black Rebellion ended in failure one year ago and now the rebellion’s leader, Zero is missing. Without their brilliant leader, Area 11’s Black Knights do not have the power to fight against the cruelty of Britannia. Lelouch Lamperouge has been brainwashed leading to the loss of his memories. He continues his life as a student at Ashford Academy, but C.C. cannot accept this. She decides to bring back Lelouch’s memories to finish the job. Although Rolo is fully aware that he and Lelouch are not siblings, Rolo clings to the notion that they are siblings and is willing to do anything for Lelouch. If Lelouch orders it, Rolo will endanger his life by using his geass to end the many lives of anyone opposing him. It gives Rolo that kind of joy that only killing someone in the name of love can bring. Unlike most yandere, Rolo kills in the name of family, but viewers can truly feel what he feels for Lelouch. How many people out there can honestly say they hated him until the end? He’s one of those male yandere characters you can’t help but love!

Alois Trancy has had many hardships such as being kidnapped and turned into a slave. After losing those precious to him, he becomes the head of his household when he goes back, but he’s become strange. Could this have anything to do with his new company: a butler by the name of Claude Faustus? Whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Alois is one violent as hell male yandere. Alois wants nothing more than to gain Claude’s attention to the point that he’ll go as far as to misbehave by stabbing Hannah in the eye, telling her to strip, and cruelly beating Hannah. Kids can be cruel, can’t they? It’s not Alois’ fault, though. Alois just wants some attention. Can’t you see the headlines now? Alois demonstrates that yanderes come in all shapes and sizes. You should never underestimate a child; they may surprise you.

The Generation of Miracles was the basketball team of Teikou Junior High School who was crowned the champion for 3 years in a row thanks to their incredible skills, leaving many in awe. They have since graduated and moved on to separate high schools. Seirin High School has 2 new recruits for the basketball team: Taiga Kagami, whose build and skills prove to be quite promising, and Tetsuya Kuroko, a freshman who lacks presence and seems to have nothing extraordinary about him. Little do they know, Kuroko was the phantom member of the Generation of Miracles. Now at Seirin High School, Kuroko will team up with Kagami to defeat each member of the Generation of Miracles and become the top basketball team in Japan! Seijuro Akashi just cares about his teammates too much. So much so that he is willing to gouge his teammate’s eyes out to ensure victory. That’s what counts, right? Victory. Akashi’s aspirations for his team drive his desire to make them perfect at all costs. In truth, Akashi really cares about his team, but when he feels like he might be left behind, he becomes a yandere so that he can move forward with them. Akashi has some dedication to his team, don’t you agree?

Kaneki Ken is just your normal boy who has a crush on Kamishiro Rize. He asks her out only to find out that she’s a ghoul, a creature who consumes humans! Before she can eat him, there’s an accident which leaves the both of them terribly injured. When Ken awakens to find that he possesses the organs of Rize turning him into half ghoul/half human. Now, he must find a way to live in both the worlds of humans and ghouls. There is no denying that Shuu belongs at the top of our list! Shuu is one deranged ghoul driven with an obsession with Ken bordering on insanity as not only does he want Ken’s company, Shuu also wants to devour him! What could be a better way of possessing someone than consuming them? The thought for sure drives Shuu into a lustful fit that can only be subdued by suffocating himself with the smell of Ken’s blood soaked into a handkerchief that Shuu always carries around. Now that’s the good stuff! If Shuu isn’t the king of yanderes, who is?

There are always two sides to every coin, and the same philosophy can be applied to the husbando. As stated in our intro, the husbando can take on various roles but still maintain his irresistible demeanor that just have us all trembling at the knees. In this case, we will start off with the more delicate side of the husbando since the popularity of bishounen anime have always been on the rise, especially as of late. The brave affectionate husbando is the one who we wish to sweep us off our feet with their strong, yet sweet attitude to everything. Their gentle embrace along with their confident character can have us experiencing a new euphoria that can only be received through him. In our upcoming examples, we will explore what it means to be a strong yet sweet husbando and why we chose them as our candidates. We will start off with Kittan from the very popular Guren Lagann series, and from there we will move into everyone's favorite Levi from Attack on Titan. We decided to start off with these two gentleman because they both demonstrate the core foundation of a husbando, one who is courageous on the outside, but deep down their loving embrace captivates us all.

Gurren Lagann is one of the better classic anime that dropped around the mid-2000's, with a spectacular story that we can all enjoy, because of its wide array of characters all of whom possess colorful personalities. After discovering a mysterious artifact that turned out to be the ancient artifact of war, Simon and Kamina fend off a whorde of enemies who are out to recapture the Lagann. Shortly after the battle, Simon and Kamina set off on a new journey to explore more of the wastelands in search for more. They soon find themselves against the beastmen, who are humanoid creatures that are out to destroy the gunmen, who are the last surviving remanants of humanity. It is now up to Simon and the rest of the team he has formed to reclaim the surface, while uncovering the mystery behind the ancient artifact of war. So while the show focuses on Simon and his two other comrades, Kittan plays an extremely major role in the show and really shows us what a real husbando is. Kittan is the leader of the black siblings, a group of survivors who work alongside Simon to bring an end to the terror of the beastmen. After acquiring his own ganman named “King Kittan”, he became a force to be reckoned with and became a great assistance to the Gurren Brigade. So what makes him a great husbando? Not only does he show us a side of bravery and a willingness to protect everyone around him, his more obnoxious behavior and carefree view on life is what we all strive to be like. One great example is when Simon finds himself trapped in battle with the beastmen, Kittan jumps in to save him and shortly after the two laugh it all off in a very humbling way as if he were saying everything will be alright so long as I'm around. That fearless attitude is what makes us all feel a sense of safety when in the arms of Kittan.

Attack on Titan came into the anime spotlight back in 2013 with amazing praise from many fans. It's story takes place in a world where mankind were slaughtered to the brink of extinction by gigantic humanoid monsters known as Titans. Their lust for human flesh sparked a lot of terror forcing those who survived to create large walls of concrete to keep them at bay. However, that peace came to an abrupt end when a colossal titan approaches the town, breaking through what was once thought of as an impenetrable wall, creating havoc within minutes. It is now up to the team of elite team Survey Corps to put a stop to all of the chaos that is ensuing, and restore peace to the town before all the titans destroy the wall and also humanity as we know it. Levi is the captain of the scouting legion division and leader of the special operations squad, which is an elite team of hand picked individuals brought together to protect Eren. The reason why we chose Levi as one of our husbando's is because of his handsome features, strong leadership qualities, and demonstrates loyalty to everyone who is around him. Levi is also somewhat of a perfectionist, in that he ensures that everything around him is spic and span, and readily available. A great example of his bravery is when one of his comrades fails to fend off one of the titans and finds themselves on the verge of death. Levi being the great husbando, flies in courageously fending off the titan and saving his comrade from near death, doing so in an almost effortless fashion. Everyone falls in love with this type of husbando because we all desire to have one who can take care of things, keep our place clean, and take charge when necessary to protect us. Our hearts melt with joy as we are greeted with an individual who not only takes good care of himself, but his charm and confidence will have you absorbed immediately.

There is that one husbando who you just want to fix because they have so many great qualities about them, but they misuse them on so many occasions. We have all come across that one individual who just can't seem to get it right, but when they do we immediately feel like we've contributed to their success. Evil or good natured, every husbando we desire to fix will more than likely have some side to them that somehow doesn't bring all the pieces together. We have decided to choose Light Yagami from Death Note as the one who we try so hard to change, because we know behind that cold exterior is a charming and warm individual who really only wanted to do the best for others. However they somehow slipped along the way and we need to be there to help pick them back up. So let us hop in and cover more about our handsome devil, Light.

The story of Light begins in an odd way, since he wasn't really aware of the events that would follow in his very pathless life. He was a very distant student in school who really had a strong disdain for those who brought harm to the world. He felt in his heart that there should be justice for those who brought pain and suffering, and that he would be deemed a God if he could simply rid of all of the evil around him. That is when shinagami Ryuk shows up one night, accidently dropping his death note while wandering around the human realm. Light eventually stumbles upon the note book on his way home from school, and from here his life changes forever. Curious about how the death note works, he witnesses a very disturbing event take place on TV, and so he writes the name of the suspect down in his book unknowingly aware of the events that would transpire. Soon after the suspect dies in the same way he had wrote it, his thirst for justice grew stronger and his twisted ways became more apparent over the course of the series. With the divine strength in his grasps, Light uses this note to dispose of anyone who gets in his way creating serious consequences for our handsome husbando. Light is by no means an evil person, as we can see that his intent to seek justice is not wrong. However, his approach to it all is what created a span of countless investigations around him, deeming Light to be a criminal himself. He demonstrates very positive qualities about him that we love, such as his calculated mind state and ability to foresee things. This shows a man who is very organized in his ways, and plans out his actions with every ounce of detail being written down. This great quality is what makes us fall in love, but we just want to change that careless and impulsive side to him since it's what puts him in trouble in the first place. Nobody is perfect, but this is exactly why everyone tries so hard to bring peace into his confused heart.

Sherry Cromwell is a powerful magician and talented decoder that works for Necessarius, the 0th parish of the Anglican Church. First seen as an antagonistic character in the series, Sherry eventually grows to become a critical ally for the main character, Touma. Of the select characters that can control earth, very few are females. However, Sherry is certainly qualified enough to stand out. With the ability to control her own stone golem thanks to her earth-based magic, Sherry can literally create the strong earthlike being most people associate with earth-based powers. She can even have it self-destruct at will or have it take in surrounding materials to regenerate itself. In addition, Sherry has another earthlike technique that involves creating multiple mud eyes in order to perform acts of espionage as well as prevent any hidden attacks on her in battle. All in all, when it comes to fighting with earth, Sherry is certainly a tough opponent.

Wolf Haruto is one of six Bronze Saints chosen to defend both Athena and the world by the use of Cloths, or special suits of armor that aid in their special abilities. Haruto is a pretty stoic character to say the least, as he tends to be a loner at times and doesn’t get along with Koga and the other Bronze Saints at first. Even though he fights on the side of good, rarely do we the audience get to see him so much as smile, which is understandable considering his tragic past. However, despite his young age, Haruto possesses many earth techniques that make him a formidable opponent. From creating shurikens out of ground-up rocks to forming a rocklike shield around his arm to even manipulating the earth to rise from the ground, Haruto uses his earth techniques both offensively and defensively in conjunction with his Cosmos to defeat his opponents. Without a doubt, Haruto has certainly achieved a balance in regards to the techniques he wields.

You have your characters that are gifted with the ability to control the elements themselves as their style of fighting. Then you have characters like Kosuke Ueki, an extremely nice middle school student who is granted the ability to turn trash into trees by his homeroom teacher, Mr. K. Not exactly the type of ability people picture when they think of fighting with earth power. Kosuke’s ability, however, reminds us that there’s more than to just the element than the element itself. Even though trees themselves are mostly associated with wood, Kosuke’s ability to create them from trash and make them stronger using the surrounding earth highlights the concept of using the natural elements around you. As Kosuke gets stronger, he’s even able to take pieces of his trees and turn them into trash in order to grow even more trees, reflecting the natural life cycle that takes place all the time. Kosuke’s earth power serves as a good example of using the environment around you as opposed to just the element itself.

Formerly of the Siba Clan, Ganju Shiba is a resident of Rukongai in Soul Society. Ganju has a deep prejudice for a long time against all Shinigami due to Rukia killing his older brother Kaien. Ganju’s personality also would be more suited for fire, as he has a huge ego and quite a short temper. As a result, Ganju doesn’t get along with Ichigo at all when they first meet, as they immediately begin to fight until his older sister Kukaku stops them, starting a chain of events that would eventually lead to thei friendship. Despite what Ganju’s volatile nature may suggest, he does possess some impressive earthlike techniques in his fighting arsenal. Ganju’s most impressive ability is being able to reduce anything he touches to sand, another popular form of earth besides wood. What makes this technique even more dangerous is the fact that Ganju can perform it using his feet in addition to his hands. Even though it’s mainly used as an escape or delaying tactic, Ganju is able to use it on more than one occasion to get Ichigo and himself out of a tight spot.

The standard definition of a villain, Eshros is the Mamodo that utilizes an earth power in the tournament to determine the Mamodo King. Manipulative, hungry for power, and completely selfish, Eshros can see nothing else in front of him but the path to power in order to win the tournament, and bends Shin, his human partner, to his will in order to achieve this. Thus, Eshros’ training with Shin allowed 8 spells to be unlocked in Eshros’ spell book, far above most of the rest of Zatch and Kio’s opponents’ levels at the time of their match. Eshros’ earth abilities are quite impressive; in addition to the standard abilities of creating rocks to ensnare his opponent and throwing up an earth shield for defense, Eshros can also create stone cannons and even a stone snake to attack for him. Although he eventually loses his battle with Zatch, Eshro’s wide variety of earth techniques in his short appearance were enough to earn him a spot on this list.

Most anime can’t say that they have a talking super powered dog that can fight, but then again, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has characters that are exactly what the title suggests: bizarre. A dog that grew up in the streets of Ney York City, Iggy is pretty antisocial and doesn’t get along with Jotaro’s gang at first. However, we eventually get to see a change in him as the group makes their way to Egypt to take down Dio once and for all. Iggy’s stand, known as The Fool, allows Iggy to manipulate sand in a (albeit limited) number of ways: shapeshifting, strength, and speed. Despite these limits, Iggy can use The Fool to shapeshift into anyone or anything he wants, making it the most useful in terms of practicality. However, its strength in combat and being able to move at speeds most people can’t see give it an edge against Iggy’s opponents, making him one of Jotaro’s key allies.

A member of the Seven Deadly Sins and known specifically as the Sin of Envy, Diane is a giant who’s introduced as having a mysterious past and chooses to assist her new friend Melodias by fighting for him. Diane’s super strength, immense endurance, and powerful durability are mainly due to her being a giant. However, Gideon, the incredibly powerful war hammer that Diane wields, allows her to be able to draw out the full potential of her Creation ability, something that can only be done by giants due to their profound connection to nature. In Diane’s case, she can manipulate the earth around her, making her a tricky opponent both in close combat as well as from a distance. A good example of this would be her battle with Melodias when they’re both under Ruin’s illusion. Just as Melodias is able to destroy some of the rock formations Diane creates and get up close and attack her, Diane sends him flying with a powerful punch into the rocks he didn’t destroy. Thus, Diane’s size and battle strategy makes her one of the strongest earth power users on this list.

A shinobi of Sunagakure, Gaara enters the series as being among if not the most powerful of Naruto’s peers, and has much more in common with Naruto than Naruto could’ve ever expected. After some time has passed after their epic battle, Gaara’s skills are officially recognized by his village when he becomes the 5th Kazekage, Gaara’s extraordinary earthlike abilities at a young age are what place him high on the list. Even though his main abilities involve the manipulation of sand, Gaara possesses enough of it to almost make it seem as if he’s using solid earth itself during his fights, especially for defense. Even if his opponents are able to get past the crushing sand techniques Gaara uses, the automatic sand defense that acts outside Gaara’s consciousness to block surprise attacks earned him a reputation of never being wounded in any of his fights. Combining this with the sand armor he wears marks Gaara as having one of the strongest defenses if not the strongest defense of any earth power user. Even despite this defensive strength early on, it only grows stronger later in the series. Gaara’s defense combined with his fighting strategy potentially makes him the most powerful characters on this list.

Without a doubt, Sir Crocodile is one of the most powerful anime characters to use an earth power of some sort. Crocodile is one of the longest running villains that Luffy and the Straw Hats go up against, and he certainly proves his strength by being a member of a very small group of characters to not only defeat Luffy, but to do so more than once. Crocodile is known to the Star Hats as Mr. 0 for quite some time; as the leader of Baroque Works, it is eventually revealed that his goal is to take over the Alabasta Kingdom in order to use its Poneglyph to find the ancient weapon Pluton. Because Crocodile ate the Sand Sand Fruit, he can control, generate, and even become sand. Combine this earth power with his mastery of the ability, his callousness for others, his ambition for power, and his tactical intelligence, and you have yourselves Luffy’s first true opponent. Crocodile is even more powerful when he’s in the desert, as he’s able to create quicksand and multiple sand storms. It’s safe to say that despite his weakness regarding water, Crocodile is certainly a very powerful earth character.

One of the Ten Wizard Saints and recognized throughout the land for his accomplished use of Earth Magic, Jura Neekis is immensely strong when it comes to wielding earth. Jura actually fits the mold in terms of what an earth power user is typically thought to look like: very tall, muscular, and even bald. Jura’s personality, however, is the opposite of what someone with those physical characteristics might have: he is humble and down-to-earth, very modest about his incredible power, and holds great respect for his opponents, even so far as commending them for his abilities. Furthermore, Jura’s techniques are perfectly balanced in terms of variety and power. There’s a reason why the other characters refer to him as Iron Rock Jura, as he is able to make the ground incredibly solid and manipulate it however he wishes. Jura can control all the rocks surrounding him and launch them at his opponent in a variety of different techniques while at the same time create an iron wall out of multiple rock formations to defend himself. Combined with his strength, reflexes, magic power, and hand to hand combat skills, Jura is truly the most powerful earth power user.

With the endless weaving of relationships and emotions, Toradora sets up a lot of opportunities for people to get on one another’s nerves. This is especially so when you have a hot-headed girl face off with a calculating manipulator. Ami Kawashima fakes just about every single part of her personality in order to catch people off guard when she finally decides to strike. Though her maturity in general is a part of this illusion of perfection that she has crafted, it’s hard to deny that she does see the bigger picture in Toradora’s web of relationships. It is from this vantage point that she consistently questions, actually interrogates is a better word, everyone else on their feelings. Though her interrogations are often used to put an end to everyone’s BS, there are times when she goes too far. For example, when she pushed Minori to the point of tears when interrogating her about why she shut down Ryuji.

Ranma ½ is one of Rumiko Takahashi’s masterpieces that covers the daily misadventures and relationship struggles of Ranma and Akane, whose fathers have prearranged their engagement to each other. Well, being engaged to someone you just met would be tough as is. However, add in rival lovers who all have a knack for some extremely specific martial art techniques (Fish Cake Blizard) as well as some frequent gender swapping and you have endless possibilities. As the male protagonist, Ranma is an extremely skilled fighter; and he also tends to be loud, boisterous, rude, cocky confident, and, most importantly, a complete troll. This is the type of character one should expect when his martial arts style is called Anything Goes. In Ranma’s case, being able to transform into a rather cute girl, when splashed with cold water, allows him to both utilize some underhanded techniques. He has no issue whatsoever showing a little skin or using his feminine charms to gain the advantage over an opponent. Plus, if there’s ever an all female competition, he’s quite willing to change into a girl just to ensure that things go the way he wants them to.

Cowboy Bebop is simply the show that proves anime is art, even to those who wish to look down on anime as some formulaic means of fan service. It takes such giant leaps as it follows the legendary bounty hunter crew of Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed, and Ein around space. Helping to push this show into the realm of perfection, is none other than the youngest member of the crew Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV, or more commonly known as Ed. To begin, you probably spent the first few episodes trying to figure out whether Ed was a boy or girl (don’t worry even Faye has trouble figuring that out), but that just adds only a little flair to how SHE’S trolling everyone. Ed is first and foremost one of the best hackers and gets away with whatever she sets her mind to. When the crew tries to get away from her after their first encounter, she is quick to hi-jack the Bebop’s controls and bring them back to her location. Little stunts like this and her aloof attitude that no one can fully comprehend make her one of the best at trolling and confusing people. Thankfully, she just wants to have a little fun and enjoy herself rather than actually control anything.

One of the biggest mysteries in Bleach is Kisuke Urahara, and he likes to keep things that way. He really doesn’t mind sending people in to do his dirty work, and he will remain on the sidelines unless it’s absolutely necessary for him to get involved. For crying out loud, the manga has just finally reached the point when his bankai is going to be revealed, and he’s been a character in it since the beginning. Not only does he keep everything about himself a secret, but he is definitely the means by which Ichigo is able to stir Soul Society up quite a bit. If it wasn’t for Kisuke’s secret underground training facility as well as his guidance through the Senkaimon, then Ichigo would never have made it to Soul Society or have the strength to take on any Shinigami. So a tip of the hat to this particular troll who self-describes himself as a "mere honest, handsome, perverted businessman."

Mai Minakami is an expert when it comes to trolling, because she has the best poker face in anime. At first glance, one might assume that she is just your average anime bookworm. Well, you’d be dead wrong. Her stoic face is a façade for a girl who has multiple talents that range from a mastery at arm wrestling to a skilled use of projectiles. However, her aptitude for pranking others, especially poor Yuuko, exceeds all of her other abilities. Throughout the entirety of the show she always has a comeback. Plus, no matter what the situation, she can always flip things on top of their heads. Two prime examples are the time she stares down Yuuko and Mio during a game of “Red light, Green light”; and the moment she shoots a Frisbee after throwing it for her dogs to catch. The fear and confusion on her friends’ faces for the first moment and the extreme terror her dogs experience for the second are reactions that are hard to forget. Clearly, the devil makes work for idle hands, and no one is safe from her sharp tongue and wit.

This girl’s crash landing is the energy that FLCL feeds off, and as she seriously tears Naota’s life to shreds, one can only imagine how many other lives she’s thrown into chaos while searching for the Atomsk. She does have the Department of Interstellar Immigration chasing her after all, which further proves that her trolling antics have affected lives across the whole universe. If that’s not enough then how about her telling line “Small, as usual," which is either a direct attack on Amarao, poor guy, or a comment on how many times she’s gone through this process. It could even be both of those. However, those are simply the final touches to her character. At the very beginning, she runs Naota over with her Vespa and then proceeds to hit him on the head with her guitar in hopes of reaching Atomsk. After that moment, she invades his home and causes hormonal rampaging in both the maturing Naota and his lonely father with her “Fooly Cooly.” It’s a literal nightmare for Naota, as he can’t help but find himself attracted to this woman who gladly toys with his budding emotions and personal struggles.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu was a major hit in 2006 mainly because of how much of a relentless troll Haruhi was. In her mind, or more precisely her world, anything and everything is justified if it means furthering her goals. Thus, anyone and everyone is under the threat of her mind’s mechanisms. Between forcing Mikuru into revealing bunny costumes, dragging Kyon into countless antics, and blackmailing the computer club; there’s no end to the cruelty of Haruhi. Even as a child, she was a trolling terror, which we see as Kyon ends up being bossed around by a youthful Haruhi into creating a message in field. What’s so frustratingly perfect about her character is the sheer look of happiness she gets when pushing people’s buttons. Her grin is iconic. That look not only defines how much enjoyment she’s getting, but makes you realize that she can go even further in her efforts.

Level E as a whole is one large troll. If you haven’t watched it yet, then be prepared to be mentally manhandled by this show. It willingly spends episodes on something irrelevant while showing minute moments on what will later become super important. Leading the show down the rabbit hole is none other than the character Prince Baka, just take that name in for a moment, who sets up every single conflict and plot point for the entirety of the show. So many things that you will initially take for factual premises are no more than mere fictional plots points that the prince has cooked up. These range from convincing a couple of high school students that they’re under threat of alien invasion to sending a group of kids into an RPG fantasy world where he is the ultimate villain. In fact, most moments he’s on screen he is simply playing a character that he’s invented in his own mind. Cementing his status as a troll is that his super intellect allows him not only troll unaware humans, but his government’s top officials. His main subordinate, Kraft, would willing beat the prince to an inch of his life, if he could ever get his hands on him for that long. The prince simply runs circles around everyone else and treats the entire universe as one large sandbox.

Gintama is that type of show that continuously plays pranks no matter what the situation. It’s this type of light-hearted attitude towards itself that has allowed it to attract such a massive fanbase as well as run for so long with very few hitches. Part of the reason, this anime runs so perfectly is that it does not depend on one character to troll others or the audience. The whole crew of Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi are adept at sending the viewers on a wild trip for each and every errand they run. Gintoki’s laziness is incomparable and is used at its max to consistently frustrate his companions. Kagura is essentially the girl-form of Gintoki as she is unafraid to break ‘decorum’ by picking her nose, swearing, and using any tricks necessary to win a battle. Then there’s Shimura who does have a few quirks such as being the leader of a pop idol’s fan club. However, in most cases it is his normalcy that creates a constant humorous banter between him and his more reckless companions. Their trolling nature allows the show to break the fourth wall easily and believably as well. It was impossible to believe that episode 150 was the final episode, but the crew’s constant declaration that this was the end warranted a quick double check.

Durarara revolves around the conflicting factions throughout Tokyo’s downtown district of Ikebukuro, and at the very center of it all is Izaya Orihara. His information network has him dialed into everything that’s going on in the city, and he can jumpstart or disrupt any type of conflict that he desires. Compared to many other trolls, Izaya is both the most entertaining to watch as well as the most lethal. At the very beginning of the series, he has tricked some girl with family issues into believing that he’s a kindred soul and convinces her to meet him on a rooftop. However, he does all this merely to tempt her into a suicide. Considering the blood stains on the cement below this spot, it’s easy enough to assume that this isn’t his victim. There’s the constant torment he inflicts upon Shizuo, such as having Shizuo get ran over, in order to test just how much stronger the guy can get. Finally, he has his hands involved in several gangs at once and is able to manipulate them into fighting. Izaya simply has tabs on everyone and knows exactly what buttons to press. What makes Izaya the ultimate troll though is a mix between the incredible skill of his puppetry and the sheer amount of joy he gets from watching the drama play out. He is a conductor for a massive orchestra and he wants all of the instruments to come together to reach a perfect crescendo, a perfect finale.

Let's start with a show like Hakuouki, that depicted the Shinsengumi guys as beautiful and hot! Basically, each of them made the girls fall in love, we can't deny it. Despite this, though, the hotter one with the famous “x” factor was Sanosuke Harada. Harada was depicted as easy-going, funny and friendly. Of course, that's not all there is to it. First of it all, his appearance is what is eye-catching; he is tall, with red hair and shiny golden eyes. The beautiful looks, put together with his manners, made him the hottest guy in the Shinsengumi! In fact, in a time of sadness he was the one to put a smile on people. He was cheerful, and yet hot-tempered. Let's not forget he was definitely a gentleman! We can't forget the way he treated Chizuru all the time, like she was a little fragile flower. When he dealt with her, all of his manliness and gentlemanliness overflowed, like for example when he didn't allow her to go out at night alone, or when he decided to go with her to do some shopping! Aside from Chizuru, he always had a sweet word for women. Basically, Harada was funny and made jokes with Shinpachi and Heisuke all the time, but he knew when to turn serious. That's what made him look very mature, and made him so popular among the viewers!

Usui Takumi from Maid-Sama! gained his popularity probably thanks to his obstinacy. Of course, he is as beautiful as a prince, with his green eyes and blonde hair, but he is not the only one with the looks in Maid-Sama! It's not even a matter of him being the protagonist in the show, together with Misaki. Probably, what made him so popular and so hot, was the way he stubbornly stuck to Misaki all the time, despite the fact that Misaki kept picking up fights with him non-stop.

 Usui fell in love with Misaki, and from that moment onward, he started to act as her guardian angel. He didn't try to show off, neither sweet-talk her; he just was there, every time Misaki needed him. Misaki, on the other side, a “tsundere” to the core, and with her ideals about “girl power”, was never at ease in accepting his help.
What makes Usui Takumi so hot is probably his being so obstinate and the way he didn't surrender in front of the hardships that Misaki gave him. Basically it was like this: he fell in love with her, and kept on acting accordingly not even caring about what she thought about him. His stubbornness was rewarded, though!

Let's go on with a popular show full of beautiful boys. Really, it's almost impossible to choose the hotter among all the characters in Kuroko's Basketball. Each of them has something special, and has the looks. However, the most popular and hottest is probably Daiki Aomine! Well, if we really need to explain why, we can start from his looks. He is jokingly called a “ganguro”, because his skin is brown. He is tall, with dark blue hair and eyes. What's peculiar about him is his hot-tempered character, and his good skills at basketball. He is strong, so much so that to a certain point he lost all the pleasure he felt when he was playing basketball, because no opponent was up to his expectations! So what we'll see in the show is his evolution that will bring him back to like basketball, thanks to Kuroko and Kagami who prove him to be fearsome opponents. He is hot, but every time he appears in the show, his “bad boy” attitude is what makes girls go all soft. For example, the way he treats Momo, who sticks to him like glue, seems to be very rude. Yeah, he is a bad boy on the surface, but later he shows a more tender way of acting, towards Kuroko and the ex-members of the Generation of Miracles. The peak of his hotness, though, is when he enters “the zone”... He will do magic with a ball in hands!

Nezumi, from No.6, is one of those characters that gains popularity right when they make their first appearance in the show. In fact, you can start liking him exactly the moment he appears at Shion's home, covered in blood and rain. Nezumi, as his name suggests, is exactly like a “rat”. Refused from a society that didn't want smart people able to think, he lived his life as a reject outside the walls of the city. When he was saved by Shion, even Shion put his life in danger and his act resulted in him being degraded from his position in the society. Nezumi won't forget the fact that Shion saved him, that's why he will reciprocate the favor years later!
 What makes Nezumi very hot is his way of acting. He is a handyman, and seems to be able to do anything, probably due to the fact that he had to live by himself outside the walls of No.6 city, struggling to survive. He seems to be cool and unaffected, and sometimes seems to look down on the pampered attitude showed by Shion, but his sensitivity will show itself later. For example, when he will sing a requiem for a dead dog, or when he will show his feelings towards Shion. He protects Shion at all costs, and shows a tender side, in spite being very strong. Basically, Nezumi has got the right amount of bad ass attitude, and a bit of sweetness mixed together. Those are what make him so hot!

Let's talk about a character controversially hot. Sebastian Michaelis is a devil. He is tricky, sadistic, and enjoys putting his master Ciel through hardships just to save him at the very last moment. He has the looks: black hair, red eyes and an “angelic” face, for as paradoxical as it can be. What makes him hot, his “x” factor, is probably the way he can do anything, being a devil, and his sadism. Really, his sadism is what characterizes him all along the line. There isn't a single time when you can notice a bit of sentimentalism in his way of acting, not even one tiny bit. It's impossible to forget the way he used Beast's weak point to coerce her into speaking, and the way later, after she's dead, he found her scarf and throws it away without a second thought. This is exactly the coherence we all look for in a character, above all when the character in question is a devil of butler. His devilish nature allows him to be totally deprived of feelings, and so he is almost always smiling, easily hiding his true intentions. Moreover, he can do anything he is asked, and we have to admit that Ciel, his master, is just as sadistic as him. Usually Ciel enjoys asking him for the impossible. Basically, Sebastian’s cunning and “i-can-do-anything” attitude, plus his coherence and his looks, make him one of the hottest characters ever!

Here we are with our 5th position in this ranking, with a character that gained a special place in our heart. Among the Gundam Meisters, Lockon Stratos is the most easy-going and kind. With Setsuna F. Seiei being tormented by his past, Alleluja Haptism dealing with the other side of himself, and Tieria Erde being so stoic, his character is the most soothing and eye-catching, so much so that we could say it was a luck that he was there, making everyone smile in times of pain. He is beautiful; tall, with green eyes and long, curly, brown hair. His easy-going attitude, though, hides a darker side of him that is the reason why he joined the cause and started fighting as a Gundam Meister. Just like the other Gundam Meisters, he has a dark past to deal with, but the difference with the others is that his past doesn't directly affects his caring nature. In fact, he is always prone to tend an ear and listen to the other guys' problems, and he is always ready to tease them to make the atmosphere lighter. What else can we say? He is just the hottest among them! The hottest, and the most heroic one, we would add. For as hot as the others can be, his mature and chill way of acting, added to his heroic deeds during the battles are what made him gain a great popularity among viewers and the reason he is our 5th position!

Let's move on to another hot character that made girls go soft! We have to say it, Sousuke Yamazaki had that power with his only presence. Tall, muscular, with emerald eyes and dark brown hair, that it's impossible not to give him the 4th position in this ranking! His looks are great, of course, but even his character is startling. We all know that Free! is full of good-looking boys, even more so when they're almost always in a swimsuit showing their nice bodies. If we talk about hotness, though, the best is Sousuke for sure! He has a strong character, so much so that he never wavers. He may seem cold, but he proves otherwise on more than one occasion, above all when dealing with Rin, his best-friend. Probably the way he acts, seemingly so mature, is what makes him so popular. He has almost the same “bad boy” attitude we mentioned talking about Daiki Aomine, but Sousuke's is more on the cold side, than on the hot-tempered one. As far as we like that “bad boy” way, we liked him even more when he finally showed a smile and relaxed a bit. In fact, in the special episode, during the School Festival, he finally seems to befriend everyone and starts acting accordingly in a gentler way, that finally made him seem more sympathetic and, of course, hotter!

The Lieutenant Colonel of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, Guren Ichinose, gains the 3rd, indisputable position! Among all the beauties in Seraph of The End, he surely is the hottest, as he mixes the leader attitude, to his beautiful looks! He is tall, with purple eyes and black hair. His appealing point, though, lies somewhere else. He acts all high and mighty, and speaks as if he doesn't care about anyone or anything, but he doesn't act accordingly. He demonstrates an affection towards his subordinates that makes him go as far as to put his life on the front line, to save them! Even in his relationship with Yuu, he acts as an older brother, even though he teases Yuu endlessly. We can never forget the way his hotness increases whenever he puts his hair all behind every time he is about to kick asses! He is strong, and proves to be very hot-tempered sometimes. However, his way of dealing with others is just amazing, and that's why, even in his own team, all the girls have the hots for him. Long story short, he is just a character that spreads hotness whenever he makes an apparition!

Shinya Kougami, from Psycho-Pass, is a character full of mystery and almost impossible to figure out completely. In the beginning, he just seems to stick to the mission as an Enforcer for the Public Safety Bureau, but later on we discover that he has revenge in his mind and his dedication is just the fruit of the revenge he is planning against Makishima Shougo. Well, he is hot... He is very hot. So much so, that even the cute Akane Tsunemori – inspector of Unit 1 – unavoidably falls for him. How can we blame her?! Shinya Kougami is so beautiful, that even when he is just smoking he makes girls drool! Not to mention the episode when he is training in the gym and he is half-naked, showing a muscular, perfect body. However, let's talk about his character and about what else makes him so hot! His attitude is one of an adult, mature man who is cynic towards human relationships. When he was an Inspector, after his Enforcer was killed by Makishima, and his Crime Coefficent rose so high that he became an Enforcer as well, he dedicated his days planning revenge against Makishima. It was his sole purpose. That's why he stuck to the mission with a devotion out of the ordinary. The best moments to enjoy his hotness are when he is in action with the gun and when he encounters Makishima. In those moments you can enjoy both Kougami and Makishima's lines, and see these two hotties fight against each other!

And here we are with our 1st position, with a character who gained popularity among the girls, and admiration among the boys! Suou Mikoto is the Red King and he can control the fire. He is loved by all the members of the HOMRA – the Red Clan – and he has the “I-am-the-king” attitude which is not expressed with words at all. On the contrary, most likely his teammates are the ones who exaggerate his figure. What can we say about the hottest character in this ranking? Firs of it all, let's talk about his appearance. He is depicted as tall, with red hair that looks like flames, and golden eyes. His deep voice acts accordingly with his character; in spite being the King who controls fire, and the head of the most fearsome clan, he is calm and quiet. He never seems to be affected, and always maintains his composure. It's exactly this attitude that strikes his enemies. Of course, this is also the reason making him so hot! Basically, he goes at his own pace, and he cares a lot for his teammates. In fact, we can't forget how much he suffered when Totsuka Tatara – one of his precious teammates – was killed and how he sought revenge. So he is a strong fighter, yet he is calm, and caring. If we add to these appealing point his looks, we have the hottest guy for sure! Plus, we really need to mention a peculiar trait about him, as he is an avid smoker. The way he holds his cigarette with his teeth is just amazingly sexy! Even thanks to a very nice soundtrack, every time he makes an appearance, it's simply impossible not to be fascinated by him, and his attitude. It's not a stretch to say that it was only natural for us to give him the first position.
