Do you remember middle school? There was always that one kid in class who got into trouble. They would ditch class and often hang with their own little gang. Sometimes they’d put kids under their mercy and terrorize the teachers. This is Sana Kurata’s problem when she first arrives at her regular school. Kodomo no Omocha (known as Kodocha for short) follows her wild antics against the dandere leader of the class, Akito Hayama. Akito hates adults and would rather skip class than do anything else. Sana and Akito’s different personalities and ideals often clash, but over time, they learn to help each other out and make the lives of their family and friends much better. Friendships, drama, and over-the-top hilarity can also be found in these 6 anime. Check them out after reading this article! Similar Anime to Kodomo no Omocha / Child’s Toy

[Information episodes=" 26 " aired=" Oct. 2004 – May 2005 "]

When Mikan Sakura finds out her best friend Hotaru is transferring to an elite school, she chooses to enroll with her. She finds out that this school teaches gifted students with special abilities called “Alices.” These abilities vary depending on the person and Mikan learns she possesses a rare Alice that cancels out a person’s Alice when they come near her. On her first day of school, she runs into local delinquent Natsume Hyuuga, who uses his Alice to take off her skirt after escaping from class. The two start off on a rocky relationship, but eventually become formidable partners in the school. Mikan shares some similar qualities with Sana. They’re both bright and cheery and have had rude first impressions with boys. Their wacky antics matched with their equally outgoing personalities set the tone for the anime’s wild slapstick comedy. Natsume has no respect for authority and, like Akito, has dedicated followers who admire his rebellious acts. Gakuen Alice incorporates more fantastical elements to its story. Nonetheless, it's the subtle drama involving many of Mikan’s friends that drives this series to success. The anime focuses on character development and the relationship between Mikan and Natsume. They both despise one another at first, but slowly grow to understand each other and eventually become a couple.

[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Jan. 2014 - Mar. 2014 "]

Kosaku adores the famous idol Yuka Kusakabe. He calls himself her biggest fan, sending her letters and collecting all her CDs, posters, and idol related memorabilia. When Yuka suddenly announces her retirement, Kosaku is devastated to the point of turning into hikikomori. He eventually returns to class, but is shocked to hear that Yuka has transferred into his school, under the name “Ringo.” Kosaku tries to learn why she enrolled in his school and deepens his relationship with her. Nourin takes place at an agricultural school - a setting totally different than the ones featured in this list. Despite this change, Nourin still keeps the wild spirit of Kodocha. It has a cast of uniquely rambunctious individuals that often get roped into weird situations. The humour also features many slapstick gags, sprinkled with a bit of parody. Ringo’s background as a Japanese idol is similar to Sana’s background as a child actress. However, while publicly she has a cheerful persona, this turns out to be a facade as she’s shown to have a dandere personality (with a hint of kuudere mixed in). Kosaku unknowingly changes Ringo to help her express her feelings for him. Overall, Nourin has flashes of drama, but is more focused on exploring the comedic everyday school life.

[Information episodes=" 13 " aired=" Jan. 2004 - Mar. 2004 "]

Kumiko “Yankumi” Yamaguchi is the granddaughter of a yakuza boss. Her parents died when she was young and her grandfather has been grooming her to be the heir of his empire. Kumiko, however, wants to become a teacher and, with her grandfather’s approval, lands a job at Shirokin Gakuen Private School. The catch is that she has to keep her Yakuza background private. Kumiko is put in charge of an all male class of delinquents that try to push her buttons. Nonetheless, she perseveres and eventually changes them to gain their respect. When your anime title is a parody on The Godfather, you know it means business. Kumiko’s tough attitude defines her role as an ideal teacher who takes no disrespect from students. Despite her hardlined personality, she’s got her own unique quirks that often lead to various comedic situations. Additionally, her relationship with the relaxed and level headed Shin Sawada begins mildly, but slowly develops into feelings of love like Sana and Akito. Having been a well known delinquent in the school, Shin is the most perceptive of Kumiko’s nature and utilizes his intellect to help her out later on. Kumiko tries to balance her reputable yakuza background and her public image as a teacher. Sana has the same dilemma when she attends a regular school while maintaining her career as a prolific child actress. Throughout their hectic lives, they still take the time to help those that are hurting and serve as inspirational characters in their own right. Gokusen is an overall goofy school comedy that takes its time to build characters and romances.

Kotoko has been in love with the very handsome Naoki since her first day in high school. When she finally musters up the courage to confess her feelings to him, Naoki flat out rejects her because he hates dumb girls. Their fates would intertwine when Kotoko’s house is destroyed by a solitary earthquake and she and her Dad are forced to live with a friend of his. Little did she know that her Dad’s friend has a son, who turns out to be Naoki! Kotoko resembles a more grown up Sana and is more airheaded than the latter. On the other hand, they’re both hopeless romantics in the pursuit of love. Naoki’s a top honour student who regularly attends class and keeps his grades up. As a result, he has a following of admirers and often makes fun of Kotoko’s intelligence. However, deep down he knows he secretly loves her. Like Kodocha, time is spent developing the relationship between the main characters. ItaKiss does this more quickly than Kodocha, as it shows Kotoko and Naoki’s rocky first encounter and the various circumstances that lead them to marriage

[Information episodes=" 76 " aired=" Mar. 1994 - Sep. 1995 "]

Miki Koishikawa’s life is turned upside down when her parents get a divorce and swap partners with a couple they met in Hawaii. While getting used to this ordeal, Miki meets the couple’s son, Yuu, who first appears as a jerk that constantly teases her. They eventually come to terms with their own differences and their new family, but their relationship gets complicated with run ins from old acquaintances. Marmalade Boy explores the dramatic tensions of families. The Kodocha formula here is pretty much the same: Miki meets a distant boy, they have some crazy interactions with one another, and they eventually fall in love. Marmalade Boy, however, takes more risks in its story. The partner swap involving the two main characters’ families is a touchy subject even for an anime. Although the story is more mature, Marmalade Boy still has Kodocha’s charm. Miki is your regular outgoing optimist who is often the victim of Yuu’s teases. Yuu is more outgoing than Akito, but he hides a resentful nature that stems from his relationship with his father. Marmalade Boy has its happy moments, but mixed in is a complex drama that involves a cast of friends and exes.

[Information episodes=" 13 " aired=" Jul. 2010 - Sep. 2010 "]

Satoshi Yabe’s new life as a teacher just got harder with the Marui triplets. Mitsuba is the eldest sister who’s a self proclaimed sadist and enjoys causing mischief. Futaba is the goofy oddball who’s very strong and athletic. Hitoha - the youngest sibling - is a quiet bookworm who secretly enjoys reading porn. Mitsudomoe follows the everyday life of these three girls, their class, and their unfortunate teacher. Mitsudomoe is the most perverted anime on this list. What it does have in common with Kodocha is its positive slice-of-life nature and downright outrageous characters. The anime relies on gags and comedic situations to move its story along. Although the Marui triplets cause a lot of chaos in their classroom, they genuinely care for each other and their close friends (most of the time). Mitsudomoe has its perverted humour, but also has sentimental moments worth grabbing some tissues for.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was a modern take on the super robot anime genre and invited fans to experience something old school in the modern age. But what is the difference between a super robot anime and a real robot anime? To its very basic, a super robot anime involves mechs with physics or reality-defying powers while real robot anime involves mechs with realistic applications and limitations. There were a few super robot anime that were popular back in the 1990s like King of Braves GaoGaiGar, but they somehow lost the relevancy in the 2000s. Sure there was Koutetsu Jeeg and Shin Mazinger to name a few, but it was Gurren Lagann who arguably relit the genre’s hot-blooded nature to the modern audience. With that said, this list will be all about the wonderful and, well, obviously the hot-blooded characters of Gurren Lagann. To spice things up, we’re going to list 10 skilled Gurren Lagann characters. Skill can take many forms like combat skill to tactical skill, so we’re gonna include all of them. Oh yeah, can you guess how many times the word “Spiral” is used here?

[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

10. Gimmy and Darry Adai

[2_images_in_row character='Darry Adai Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann' anime='Gimmy Adai Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann']

These twins are inseparable, so the two of them shares one spot. The two were born and raised in Adai village, and due to the strict rule of maintaining the village population to 50 and Gimmy and Darry having no parents, they were chosen to leave the village - or in other words they are sent to their deaths in the beastmen infested surface. The twins survive thanks to fellow village member Rossiu, and they eventually cross paths with Kamina and Simon, and then become part of Team Dai-Gurren. Seven years after the fall of the Spiral King, Gimmy and Darry grew up and joined the Grapearl squad, and with their exceptional skill, the two became squad commanders due to their skill and leadership. And after the defeat of the Anti-Spirals, Simon bestowed the Core Drill to Gimmy and the two became the new pilots of the venerable Gurren Lagann.

9. Leeron Littner

Leeron Littner Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Leeron is openly gay and provides comic relief to lighten up the mood or gives the viewers something intriguing to look at, but despite his sexuality, Leeron is a very rational man and can be very serious at times. Yes, looks can be deceiving, but make no doubt, Leeron can fix anything he can get his hands on. Leeron is a mechanic who has a knack at fixing and modifying gunmen and other equipment used by the Beastmen. Leeron is one of the most intelligent people on Earth and ever since he joined Team Dai-Gurren, he invented various tools, weapons to exploit enemy weaknesses, and provide detailed information regarding how the universe works.

8. Viral

gurren lagann viral

Unlike most beastmen, Viral has a very strong sense of honor, despite his hatred towards humans. He never uses cheap tactics or attack from behind, or hunts down the injured. He is the commander of the Human Eradication Army and his goal is to hunt down humans who dared to go to the surface. Viral has fast reflexes and is skilled in piloting a gunmen. Viral is also an immortal, a gift given to him by the Spiral King and this gave him an advantage during combat — his wounds heal instantly and never tires out. However, he lacks the Spiral power and he was soon bested by Kamina and Simon. During the Anti-Spiral’s invasion of Earth, Viral allied himself with Simon and became the co-pilot of Gurren-Lagann, and helped Simon in combat. From a rival to a powerful ally, Viral is the only beastman to acquire Spiral energy after being exposed by Simon.

7. Kittan Bachika

Kittan Bachika

Kittan is the eldest and leader of the Black Siblings, a group composed of 4 siblings that specializes in hunting down beastmen. Much like Kamina, Kittan is a boisterous and reckless guy with matching ferocity to boot. During the Beastmen War Arc, Kittan pilots a custom-made gunmen called King Kittan and while he’s a reckless, he knows how to fight and he’s a natural born leader. Also, Kittan is the 3rd human to have ever harnessed Spiral power to create his own Giga Drill Break move, one of the most powerful moves in the anime.

6. Yoko Littner

gurren lagann yoko

Yoko is one of the main characters in the anime and unlike her male companions, Yoko relies on agility, smarts, and long-range attacks. Her main weapon is a custom sniper rifle that’s powerful enough to take out enemy gunmen with only a few shots. She is also a skilled marksman with fast reaction times to adapt into any situation, and has a knack of hitting enemy weak spots at different angles, while the target is moving (i.e. rockets). If the situation calls for more firepower, she is also a skilled gunmen pilot and can rain down death with her gunmen’s assorted range of a deadly barrage of rockets, including her patented boob rockets.

[ad_middle]

5. Rossiu Adai

Rossiu Adai Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Rossiu came from an underground village who went to the surface after he and two others were chosen to leave the village. He then met with Kamina and Simon, and he eventually became part of Team Dai-Gurren. Rossiu is not a fighter by any means, but his strength lies in his intelligence. After the fall of the Spiral King a few years later, Rossiu pursued politics and science, and became the Chief Adviser, and eventually, the Supreme Commander of Earth. Unlike his hot-blooded companions, Rossiu spends his years in the confines of research facilities improving the technologies and making the right calls to ensure mankind’s survival and be one step ahead if another crisis occurs.

4. Kamina Jiha

gurren lagann Kamina Jiha

Kamina has explosive potential ever since he and Simon got out of their underground home. He’s cocky, brash, and reckless, but these traits gave the people around him a sense of security. A big brother looking after his siblings and, more importantly, hope for the future. Team Dai-Gurren started out with two members and gained other members from people Kamina came into contact with. Kamina is a quick learner, able to pilot a gunmen and was able to stand toe-to-toe and, eventually, overpowered the beastman Viral, the commander of the Human Eradication Army. Kamina is also a crafty individual who can adapt to any situation and take advantage of his enemies. What makes Kamina a skilled fighter is despite not knowing Spiral power, he can freely control Gurren-Lagann to create ridiculous deadly moves with equally ridiculous names. His over confidence is what makes him formidable against the Beastmen. Sadly, Kamina had sustained heavy wounds during a battle against one of the Four Generals, and bestowed his most powerful move, the Giga Drill Break, to his young brother Simon.

3. The Anti-Spirals

The Anti-Spirals Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

There was once a race of beings who realized the abuse of Spiral power will result in the creation of the Spiral Nemesis, an apocalyptic event that will end the entire universe. Knowing this, the Anti-Spirals purged their own evolution to rid themselves of Spiral power, and travelled across the universe to control Spiral power by destroying every Spiral being to save the universe from destruction. Over countless millennia, the Anti-Spirals attained omnipotence by having the ability to control the very fabric of the universe, and can create immense power that rivals that of the Big Bang. The Anti-Spirals rarely attack head on, preferring more on overwhelming the enemy with infinite numbers and using psychological warfare. One of the biggest victories of the Anti-Spirals was they successfully broke Lordgenome’s will, plunged him to despair, and turned against his fellow Spiral warriors and eventually destroyed almost all life on Earth.

2. Simon Jiha

gurren lagann simon

Simon was a shy, cowardly and withdrawn boy, digging holes for his village. His life changed when he meets his bro Kamina, and a gunmen fell onto his village. Simon followed Kamina in his quest to stop the beastmen from harming more humans. The two founded Team Gurren and along their adventures, the team grew with more people joining in the fight. On one fateful day, Kamina lost his life after a grueling battle against one of the Spiral King’s Four Supreme Generals, Thymilph. Simon fell into despair, but got back on his feet after realizing what Kamina wanted and what Simon should strive for — To be himself. Simon has literally an infinite amount of Spiral power and he can defy the laws of nature by creating anything from nothing. He can conjure infinite amount of drills to use as weapons, assimilate machines to be part of Gurren Lagann, and eventually can create mechs as large as galaxies. He’s a natural gunmen pilot and it showed after the death of Kamina. He controls Gurren Lagann like it is part of his own body. He can do crazy acrobatics and with his infinite Spiral energy, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

1. Lordgenome aka the Spiral King

Lordgenome Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

The Lordgenome was the main antagonist in the first half of Gurren-Lagann. He is the ruthless and cruel ruler of Earth, who created the beastmen to eradicate every human being on the surface without mercy. With his army of beastmen roaming the planet, Lordgenome watches over his kingdom high atop his castle-fortress Teppelin, and keeps the human race in check. Eventually, his reign of terror ends at the hands of Simon and Team Dai-Gurren, but he didn’t go down without a fight. Lordgenome was the most powerful Spiral Warrior a thousand years ago until he came into close contact with the Anti Spirals as it corrupted his soul. The Anti Spirals showed him a vision of the Spiral Nemesis, an apocalyptic event that occurs when life forms overuse the Spiral power. Driven by his dwindling sanity and fear the universe will end, Lordgenome single handedly killed all of his comrades and eradicated life on the Earth’s surface, forcing the remaining survivors to live underground. With his overwhelming Spiral power, he made himself immortal and was almost near indestructible. Of all the characters in the anime, Lordgenome is the most formidable one. He can take on Gurren Lagann without piloting a gunmen, can conjure enormous drills instantly and as mentioned before, he almost killed every human to near extinction, including fellow Spiral Warriors. His main specialty is energy absorption and converting it into a form he can use. His last superhuman feat was he absorbed energy equivalent to that of the Big Bang and converted that energy into a drill Simon could use. It’s easy to pick Simon as the most skilled character in Gurren Lagann with his infinite Spiral energy, but Lordgenome accomplished more feats than Simon. He’s a formidable foe against the Anti Spirals, which forced them to use psychological warfare that destroyed Lordgenome’s sanity. He single handedly destroyed the Earth and almost eradicated the human race. Aside from his combat skills and ruthlessness, he is a prodigy who made many breakthroughs in the field of genetic engineering like cloning and spatial-temporal travel (aka travel faster than light). The gunmen, the beastmen and every technology at the time were all thanks to Lordgenome.

Final Thoughts How many? 34 times the word “Spiral” was used… uh… make that 35… Anyway, there you have it, everyone. This list was actually hard to do because not all characters have infinite power, but there are other characters that made an impact in the anime and their contributions to Team Dai-Gurren. Leeron is not a fighter, and I can use any other character who can kick ass, but his intelligence and skill as a mechanic and researcher helped Simon, Kamina, and everyone in the universe survive. You just can’t simply ignore that. So what do you think of the list? Please be sure to leave a comment below so we’ll know what you think!

The winter 2016 anime season had its fair share of kuuderes and danderes. Almost every show had one! And one thing that is usually true about these types of characters is that they have a very cool and unique fashion sense! I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but hairstyles, colors and even clothes go through trends in anime just as much as they do in real life and during some seasons some of the characters even look so much alike you’d swear they’re the same person! Today we’ll take a good look at what our favorite kuuderes and danderes were wearing this season and see what is in and what is out! If you’re looking for a change of style, these girls (and guys!) might give you a few ideas. So let’s get started!

[ad_top2 class="mt40"]

Short, Colorful and Wild Hairstyles

Last year we saw a lot of long white or light violet hair, not only in kuuderes and danderes, but in general. This season still has a few of those, but its looking a bit more varied and leaning towards more blues, aquas and greens. And pink, but there’s always pink, this is anime we’re talking about! Long flowing hair - most commonly blonde or black - is usually a symbol of beauty and femininity in anime. Danderes and kuuderes are usually not ones to care about fitting into a mold and so their hair tends to be short, messy and/or asymmetrical and comes in varied colors! This season we saw a lot of short hairstyles; some brightly colored bobs, like Nanami Shiranui from Norn9 and Lelei from GATE; and even shorter shaggy styles like Mana Asuha from Luck & Logic and Koito Minase’s red shag from Musaigen Phantom World. And of course, there’s also Saki Inui’s very anime-ish asymmetrical pale aqua hairstyle in Aokana which matches her outfits perfectly. A little more than half our kuuderes and danderes had short hair this season, making it the go-to look. And the vast majority of them had unnatural hair colors. In fact, all of the long haired girls had either a cool color or an interesting hairstyle making all of them stand out in some way. Clarion from Koukaku no Pandora and Shizuru from BBK/BRNK both accentuated their innocent looks with different shades of pink, while Sylvia from Schwarzesmarken keeps her wavy violet mane wild and messy.

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="Schwarzesmarken Ep 1" url="" ]

And while kuudere/dandere boys are rare, we had a couple this season, and though one is blond and the other’s brunet, one thing they have in common is, they both have long hair! Aoto from Divine Gate keeps his chin length; and super kuudere Tomoe Yagami from Prince of Stride has his layered, asymmetrical and in his face. Such the cool guy!

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="Prince of Stride Alternative Ep 10" url="" ]

Leave Something to the Imagination

The vast majority of the danderes and kuuderes this season (though I think that’s usually the case), were pretty modest with their outfits. Granted, Sylvia shows her cleavage when in uniform in Schwarzesmarken and some girls give a peek of thigh, but you don’t really see anything else! Lelei in GATE and Merry in Hai to Gensou no Grimgar also wear the clothes required by their profession and so they are limited as to how much skin they can show. The modesty of kuuderes and danderes can also be appreciated in their choice of legwear when in school uniform. This season we saw many of these girls decked out in thigh-highs or full-on tights. Nanami from Norn9 and Mana (Luck & Logic) are completely covered up, while Saki Inui (Aokana) opts for thigh-highs and short sleeves. The boys didn’t fall behind; Tomoe from Prince of Stride was entirely covered up from neck to toe almost the entire time! Well, I guess he did show his forearms a few times…

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="Hai to Gensou no Grimgar Ep 11" url="" ]

Boots & Booties!

Let’s be honest, few things say “cool chick” like a pair of knee-high or combat boots! And this season, most of the kuuderes and danderes were wearing just that. There were some pretty cool cyber boots you’d probably see at an electronic music show like Mana’s, especially when she’s Tranced with Artemis. Her boots have neon accents and buckles and are just all-around badass. Aika Suzuki’s boots in PSO2 are actually more than knee-high and they almost have a mecha-ish feel to them.

Captcha Musaigen no Phantom World Koitos-boots
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="Official Wesite" url="http://www.kyotoanimation.co.jp/books/phantom/special/" ]

As for the more subdued looks, we have some styles we could wear on the daily! Koito wears brown fold-over knee-high boots with brass accents. Nanami Shiranui also sticks to brown but wears the laced-up style that came with the uniform all the girls wear on the ship. Sylvia of course, wears her military issue black combat boots (no laces). But not everyone’s in knee-highs, Inui rocks short black combat boots with neon green accents to match her outfit and Merry wears navy blue booties to match her outfit and hair!

Colors of the Season: Black, Green & White

Except for Lelei, all the kuuderes and danderes this season wore black in some way. Inui and Mana both wear all black except for a few accents in lime green and aqua respectively. All others have black tights, skirts or a dress in Shizuru’s case. Saki Inui’s flying outfit is green and black with black wing-like sleeves (talk about a cool-dere!). Lelei la Lelena’s outfit is mostly white and green with some blue accents and Aika Suzuki’s outfit while in PSO2 is teal colored with a bit of black and white mixed in. Koito wears the same white, teal and black pattern on her uniform as well! No doubt these were the colors of the season! Though there was quite a bit of blue as well. Merry’s outfit is mostly white, one of the seasonal colors, but her cincher and accents are mostly navy blue like her hair. And Clarion’s Lolita dress is mostly dark blue with a bit of black and white here and there. Even our dandere Aoto and kuudere Tomoe got into it! Aoto rocks a blue jacket, white tee and black pants and Tomoe is seen in black most of the time.

Accessories: Headphones, Berets & More

One thing that stood out to me this season, and even inspired me to write this article is that two of the characters I think have the coolest style wear headphones! And they happen to be a dandere and a kuudere as well. These two of course are Mana Asuha and Koito Minase. Both of them send the international sign for “don’t bother me” by wearing the biggest headphones they could find. We don’t always have headphone characters, and this season we had two!

Another unexpected trend this season was the beret. Usually a symbol of involvement in the military, the beret is no longer only for Street Fighter characters and Jean-Claude Van Damme! danderes and kuuderes can also rock this look regardless of their affiliation. Aika Suzuki’s look in PSO2 is a bit military and she wears her teal beret with pride! Shizuru opts for a cute purple beret that matches the rest of her outfit and adorns it with a cute little onigiri pin.

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="Official Wesite" url="http://news.bbkbrnk.com/page/3" ]

Another set of head accessories were ears and horns. And of course, we couldn’t have an anime list of any sort without some sort of a cat-girl making an appearance! Clarion has cute little cat ears that go extremely well with her Lolita look and Mana’s trance outfit comes with one of the coolest hoodies I’ve ever seen. It’s baggy, black and has horns!

Final Thoughts

There you have it! So if you want to emulate the winter season’s kuuderes and danderes, go for a short and/or wild colored hairstyle, take full advantage of thigh-highs, tights and long sleeves, find a pair of boots you love and wear black, white and/or your favorite shade of green and you’re set! If you want to take it a step further, go for the hoodie with ears, a beret or some fat headphones. You will be the coolest kuudere / dandere around! Who was your favorite kuudere/dandere of the season? My favorites were Mana Asuha (Luck & Logic), Koito Minase (Musaigen no Phantom World) and Saki Inui (Aokana) Do you have a look you’d like to try out? I want Sylvia’s crazy hair and Mana’s hoodie!! Let us know what you think! Have you noticed any other interesting fashion trends in anime? Thanks for reading! Till next time! Nya~!

Synopsis

[ua_synopsis text="This story begins after the destruction of the world. Eiji is a normal high school student… or so it seems. He has a deep secret. Ten years ago, he met the mysterious girl, Daisy, who granted his wish to rule the world. He becomes the most powerful esper user known as Order, and he ran reckless and wild bringing the Earth to the verge of annihilation. During his rampage, he lost both of his parents, so after, he returns to a normal life, hides his power, and takes care of his younger sister Sena who has an incurable disease. Ever since this incident, the number of users of Order has increased to more than 2000, and they brought calamity everywhere they went. Japan especially has been devastated due to it losing the ability to rule itself. The United Nations has set up a provisional government within Japan to rule it. In the Kyuushu branch, the Dazaifu government office along with the military has been tasked with restoring public order. Eiji meets Rin one day and falls in love with her at first sight. In a stroke of good luck, they live in the same building. Rin tries to kill him. However, Rin is actually a member of the military and so she cannot be killed because that is part of her order. Her parents were both killed in the great calamity so she has been after Eiji ever since hell-bent on revenge. While fighting Rin, Eiji remembers that the reason why he made the wish was not to bring ruin to the world, but to bring peace to the world. Re-determined to do it correct the next time around, he proclaims that he is going to bring peace to the world. Eiji was originally planning to subjugate Rin and force her to take two oaths. First, that she will never cease from being under his jurisdiction, and second, to never harm either him or his sister. In the heat of the moment though, Eiji also forcibly changed Rin’s existence to that of being his companion. Flustered Eiji is now alongside Rin while Rin secretly is hiding her desire to want to kill him with glee. What does fate have in store for these next two? "]

Chicken LINE SKE48 Oricon
Chicken LINE SKE48 Oricon

What You Need to Know:

  • The Oricon charts in Japan are huge. They are like the Billboard or iTunes charts in America, or the Gaon charts in Korea, etc.
  • A song, single, album, DVD, or really anything, is considered a success if it ranks well on the Oricon Charts. Ideally for it to be considered good, it needs to have taken one of the coveted Top 30 spots in the ranking.
  • Last week the power of Fujoshi was still strong as the osomatsu-san song was still trending! Is it still this week? You'll just have to check out below! If we had to give a hint, we would say that the power of Otaku seems to be a bit more powerful this week.

About fhána

Aphoto_fhana_8thSG_main
You might know them as the masterminds behind some of our favorites anime openings and endings. We were extremely impressed when we first listened to Uchoten Kazoku ending theme, then we sang along their Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei Herz! and Comet Lucifer opening themes, and now we are crazily in love with their most recent song “If We Could Weave Rainbows” which is featured as the opening theme for the winter 2016 anime series Haruchika: Haruta and Chika Enjoy Their Youth. We are so excited to announce that the four members of fhána, one of the hottest J-pop bands, answered the questions posted by their fans here at Honey’s Anime.

Read below what Sato, yuxuki, kevin and towana have to say about their creative process, performing live, band dynamics and of course about their favorite anime series and upcoming projects.

ABOUT MUSIC INSPIRATION and CREATION

Q1

Hwaaa thanks for this opportunity.
I'm sure it's really appreciated by all of us ! (❁´▽`❁)*✲
When you're composing songs, is there anything in particular you look to get inspired? Like for example, feelings or a scenery?

σ(≧ε≦σ) ♡ from Canada

fhana-satou-prof
"The moment the idea of the song pops up can be when I look at the piano, I think carefully as my fingers start playing, reflexively. And by the piece I’m playing, I pick up fragments from it, and brush it up. Another way could be when I’m relaxing in an onsen, while I’m traveling in a bullet train, or it could be while I’m talking with the other fhána members through Skype, there’re lots of ways. When I’m trying to be inspired, I try to find it through ordinary life, paying more attention to everything that happens around me. I give myself opportunities to think about songs I’ll make in the future. By letting myself think about the songs very often, I think that my personal memories and the fragments will cause a chemical reaction, solidifying the idea of a song. This doesn’t only apply to music, but making something is mostly about the concept, or the theme. Finding the concept takes a huge amount of time, and once the concept of a song is found, half of it’s done. This is why creating a song for an anime was easier than others. The theme of the song is there for me to work on, which makes life easier. People say “Limitation is the mother of innovation” and I think this is spot on. In the case of original songs for an album, it is really hard to decide the melody of the song, and takes a lot of time. If I compose a melody by how I feel in that moment, I won’t be able to control the song, so for any song, I create a theme, and I compose based on that theme. Once I’ve got into the song, and the idea for the theme is complete, then I solidify all the ideas into a song"
fhana-yuxuki
"Music affects me quite a lot, and all sorts of music affects me, from the music that I listen everyday to songs that are unfamiliar to me. Anything, such as my ordinary life affects me quite a lot, everything is a seed which could blossom into ideas to make music"
fhana-kevin-prof
"Visible things inspire me quite often. It could be landscapes or videos. Even when I’m composing, beautiful landscapes pop up in my head"
fhana-towana
"When I’m singing, I tend to imagine the protagonist in the lyrics. I think about his/her emotions, or I imagine a situation in a town or the sky"

Q2

Awesome opportunity and thank you so much for taking the time!
My question is, when composing do you write the lyrics first or the notes, or does it vary from song to song?

Ryo-Ohki from USA

fhana-satou-prof
“I always start from the notes. I always request the lyrics after I finish writing the notes. But I decide the theme, or the title before I start composing the notes. Because the theme gives me a direction, if I don’t have the theme, I get confused, not knowing where the music will go or what to do next”

Q3

I'm always surprised by fhána's creativity!
Have you ever faced a creative block? Do you have any advice for people who are experiencing a creative block?

Eris from USA

fhana-satou-prof
“First of all, if I can’t create something because I’ve faced a creative block, I shouldn’t be creating for my job. As what we are doing is a job, we have to create something out of the time that we are given and in a certain quality. My personal emotions towards what I’ve made doesn't matter. But that doesn’t mean that I can hand in rubbish. This is why creators need a basic strength, not relying on his/her mood. First of all, creators need their own technique of coming up with ideas for composing, such as patterns. This will become their format, which will basically become the creator’s base. Once the creator has their own way of doing things, now they can try and stick to it, and maybe sometimes destroy the format, or modify it to some extent to make the compositions more challenging and interesting. I suppose considering that I’m always not happy about what I make, I’m always facing a creative block. I often find the music that I composed unsatisfying, but after about a month, my opinion changes. If I’m to create something as a hobby, or if I don’t have a time limit to think, I would probably think for a very long time. As time goes by, lots of bits and pieces will eventually combine to create a piece I will be proud of. When you face a creative block and stop composing and playing music, you have to find a way to refresh, there is this phenomenon when you tend to get out of the creative block because the brain sorts all the information, refresh itself, so that all the fragments that has been left around will combine smoothly. Unfortunately, we can’t spend much time on each creative block, so this is again where the format comes in to help us. I spend lots of time thinking up with the fragments, and combine them to make the song”
fhana-yuxuki
“There is a moment when I can’t feel proud of what I’m making, so then I step back from composing, and play, read, input lots of things, and hopefully find an opportunity to start creating something again. When I’m facing a creative block, I think that the worst thing I can do is to continue working, therefore I think that stepping back to refresh is the most important thing to do while facing a creative block”
fhana-kevin-prof
“Whatever I make, there are moments when I can’t agree with myself. Then, I always try to think about something I like or something beautiful. I sometimes re-watch some of the anime that I liked. Most of all, I think that going away from work is quite important”
fhana-towana
“Just go away from it. Don’t think too hard, because just trying to work it out won’t help”

ABOUT ANIME

Q5

Hello, I appreciate the time you guys are taking to answer our questions.
My question is, apart from the anime that you've performed theme songs for, what anime in particular do you enjoy watching when you have the chance?

Ian Williams from USA

fhana-satou-prof
“Royal Space Force: The wings of Honneamise, Naushika of the valley of the wind, Castle in the sky, Kiki’s delivery service, Porco Rosso, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Patlabor 2: The Movie, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, CLANNAD, Toradora!, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, and Subete ga f ni naru”
fhana-yuxuki
“ARIA, CLANNAD, THE IDOLM@STER”
fhana-kevin-prof
“ARIA, CLANNAD, Ghost in the shell, Eureka Seven, Planetes, Dennou Coil"
fhana-towana
“SHIROBAKO, ARIA"

ABOUT THE BAND DYNAMICS

Q6

Which artists are your inspiration to make music these days?

NualphaJPN from Canada

fhana-satou-prof
“Not what I’ve been listening to recently but my very first favorites are: Yellow Magic Orchestra, FLIPPER’S GUITAR, Kenji Ozawa, The Smashing Pumpkins, or from “Y’s” or Sorcerian, old game music from Nihon Falcom Corporation".
fhana-yuxuki
“The 1975, Yes, XTC, Broken Social Scene, Built to Spill”
fhana-kevin-prof
“Cornelius, Shuta Hasunuma, Miyauchi Yuri, Koshi Miura (Kuchiroro)"
fhana-towana
“Ringo Sheena"

Q7

Working in a team must be difficult,
especially when there are differences in opinions and ideas.
If disagreements happen among the members, how do you tackle a song?
How do you guys settle how the song it’s going to be?
Do you guys vote or what?

Ingo from Malaysia

fhana-satou-prof
“Eventually, I will decide. I do listen to other’s opinions for reference, but deciding something creative by the majority election is very stupid. This is a common belief, but if there are multiple opinions, an opinion between the 2 will be too weak, as it kills the characteristics of the 2 opinions, for example A and B, combining the 2 won’t be as strong as only 1 used to be, therefore we have to choose either A or B, or create a completely new idea C, after being inspired by A and B. If idea C is better than A and B, I would choose C. Eventually, someone has to take the responsibility to decide something, so I decide something. But obviously, I don’t force the members to my opinion, I do explain why I picked that idea. If it’s about deciding an event or an action, the majority election would be the most suitable.”
fhana-yuxuki
“The composer is different from each song, so we usually treasure the composer’s opinion. We decide together if there are 2 members saying, This has to be like this!”
fhana-kevin-prof
“We decide the song based on the opinion of the composer of the song, if I come up with an idea I propose it to the other members, which is why our opinions don’t clash and we don’fight often.”
fhana-towana
“We talk together to decide"

ABOUT LIVE SHOWS and WHILE PERFORMING

Q8

I love Wonder Stella, such an addictive song! towana-chan, kawaii desho!
This is a great opportunity to ask what I've always wanted to ask. Thanks!
When you play and sing a song made for an anime series, do you think about the anime while you're playing/singing the song, or are you thinking about something else? What images come to your head while performing these songs?

Guzniva from USA

fhana-satou-prof
“A song which is the main theme of an anime, still is fhána’s own original song, with it’s own story. So therefore, when we play the song, I think about the song itself, not the anime. During a live show, I usually enjoy the atmosphere and the harmony in the stadium, and this is basically what I think about. I could be sunk into the song being emotional, or think calm and think about what we can offer to the fans in front of us”
fhana-yuxuki
“I don’t really think about the anime, I think about the song, and enjoy the fact that we are playing together as a band”
fhana-kevin-prof
“When I’m composing the song, I only think about the anime, but when I’m playing the song, I only think about the fans in front of us, and nothing else”
fhana-towana
“I enjoy watching the reactions that the fans give us, and watching the other members playing their part while I sing"

Q9

I'm looking forward to going to fhána's live in Japan! Can't wait XD
Thank you for giving us a great opportunity to ask questions to fhána!
fhána is my favorite band and I really love their songs♡
I also want to hear about the live show in Atlanta (I went there and it was a great show!). What were your impressions about performing in a foreign country?

Kana from USA

fhana-satou-prof
“Both fans in Japan and Atlanta were very energetic, but the fans and staff in Atlanta were more kind and calm. Although the language and the culture are different, I felt that music and anime could be understood which made me happy”
fhana-yuxuki
“Thank you for coming to our show. It was our first live performance outside Japan, so I was worried whether the songs would be accepted, but in fact Atlanta’s atmosphere was the same as it is in Japan, perhaps better! I was very pleased about how Atlanta enjoyed our music, and as the local people and the audience were all very nice people, I would like to go again”
fhana-kevin-prof
“Thank you for coming to our first show in America. It was fascinating to see lots of passionate fans throughout the live, which I thought was very nice. It felt more of a festival instead of a show. I definitely want to go outside Japan for a show again”
fhana-towana
“I was worried about the difference in the language and culture, but the emotions that the audience gave us helped me a lot, and made me very happy. I found the greatness of music again. I certainly want to go to perform somewhere foreign again”

Q10

I love your Performance in Animelo!
Do you guys have any plans on doing live performances (or maybe a tour) any time soon? if so, where and when?

Daylighter

fhana-satou-prof
“On April 27th, we will release our second album What a Wonderful World Line. There will be a tour starring the new album. Unfortunately this tour will only be in Japan, but I hope we can go on a tour outside Japan”
fhana-yuxuki
“This year in May there will be 4 shows in 3 cities in Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka). This will be our second tour in Japan. As for performing abroad, we were invited to the Anime Convention in Atlanta last year, and we would love to continue trying shows outside Japan!”

Parody anime can be a very difficult genre to get correct, but when done right, the results are fantastic, witty, hilarious, and very well-thought out. But first let’s back up a step – what exactly is parody anime anyway? Well, let’s look at the word “parody.” A parody is when something, whether it is a story, person, moment in history, part of life, etcetera, is portrayed in a comically exaggerated way. The original inspiration is still very obviously there, but the imitation has become a lot more extreme and usually a lot funnier. A parody anime follows these basic guidelines. These anime exaggerate everything from real people and stories to other anime and games in a comedic fashion. Sometimes, the entire anime may be a parody and other times, the anime may feature these sorts of parody moments. Both of these examples will be included in this list. The common features of the Top 10 Parody Anime are that all of them have this exaggerated imitation of something else, and all of them are sure to make you laugh when you see how cleverly they have been delivered. The list will be in ascending order, with 10 at the bottom and 1 at the top. So please sit back and enjoy our list of the Top 10 Parody Anime, and we hope you can get a few ideas for something fun to watch next!

10. Nourin (No-Rin)

nourin dvd
[sourceLink asin="B01711DBH4" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Jan. 2014 – Mar. 2014 "]

Nourin is about students at an agricultural school in Japan. The main character, Kosaku Hata, is obsessed with the idol Yuka Kusakabe. When Yuka decides to stop her idol career, Kosaku is devastated. But lucky for him, Yuka soon shows up at the agricultural school under the name Ringo Kinoshita! Kosaku thus finally has his chance to actually get to know the idol he has been in love with for so long. Many plot points and character traits in Nourin are done in a very over-the-top manner, which is why this anime has made it onto our list of the Top 10 Parody Anime. Kosaku’s obsession with idol culture is an exaggerated (or in some cases, not so exaggerated) look at Japan’s own love for idol culture and the people that are at the centre of it. Kosaku owns an incredible amount of Yuka’s merchandise, all the way down to a body pillow of her. Nourin also takes a look at the unique phenomenon of agricultural schools in Japan, though in a comedic way that features teachers that destroy the crops out of rage and out of control farm animals. These exaggerated imitations of real parts of Japanese society set Nourin apart from simply being another comedy, ecchi anime and make it a parody one as well.

9. Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! (Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B00RV3S6G4" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Jan. 2015 – Mar. 2015 "]

Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! (from here on referred to as Binan Koukou) comes in at ninth on our list of the Top 10 Parody Animes. Binan Koukou is the story of five magical boys – you read that right, magical boys, not magical girls! Each of them has been gifted with a very special power from an alien, and they fight alongside the alien to defend Earth from those who are trying to spread hate. And how do they fight? With the power of love, of course! If you aren’t already laughing just from the summary, you will be soon if you watch Binan Koukou. With a name that literally translates to “beautiful men” from Japanese, Binan Koukou is a parody of the extremely popular genre of magical girl anime. These anime always feature cute or pretty girls that have special powers that they use to fight against evil, usually with elaborate transformation sequence and overarching themes of friendship and love. Binan Koukou has the same thing, except the cute girls have been replaced with cute boys. Get ready for over-the-top characters and plots, and have a laugh at Binan Koukou!

8. Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (Nyaruko: Crawling With Love!)

dvd Haiyore! Nyaruko-san
[sourceLink asin="B00BPRPWIC" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Apr. 2012 – Jun. 2012 "]

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san tells the story of Nyaruko who for all outward appearances is a normal girl. However, in reality she is Nyarlathotep, the god of chaos from H. P. Lovecraft’s works. The anime begins with Nyaruko saving Mahiro Yasaka from an alien who was trying to kidnap and traffic him. It turns out that all of the monsters described in Lovecraft’s works are actually aliens that are coming to Earth for one reason or another – and Mahiro ends up responsible for several of them in his home in this comedy anime! Haiyore! Nyaruko-san is unique in the parody world of anime because of the subject matter it has chosen to be a parody of – H. P. Lovecraft’s famous works. Instead of the monsters being portrayed as they usually are by pop culture and other stories, they are represented by comedic anime characters living in Japan. They still have some of the original traits from Lovecraft’s stories, but they have been adapted and exaggerated to exist in a sci-fi anime taking place in Japan instead. If you are a fan of Lovecraft, or just looking for a parody anime that has a source other than other aspects of Japanese culture, then Haiyore! Nyaruko-san might be exactly what you’re looking for.

7. Hayate no Gotoku! (Hayate the Combat Butler)

hayate no gotoku dvd
[sourceLink asin="B0028X6L2I" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 52 " aired=" Apr. 2007 – Mar. 2008 "]

Hayate no Gotoku! follows the tale of Hayate Ayasaki, a boy who starts out the anime by being sold by his parents to the Yakuza in an attempt to settle their insane gambling debts. Rather than have his internal organs taken and sold, Hayate makes the natural decision to escape, turning to kidnapping as a means to earn the money to pay off the debt collectors. However, while attempting to kidnap the rich young girl Nagi Sanzenin, his efforts are misinterpreted as a love confession! Soon after, Hayate finds himself employed by Nagi as her newest butler. Growing up, Hayate developed many unique skills as he attempted to work to help support his struggling family, and he uses those skills to protect Nagi and her maid Maria from anyone that tries to do harm to them. While that description of Hayate no Gotoku! may make this anime sound quite serious, in reality it is quite the opposite. Just a look at the translation of the title to “Hayate the Combat Butler” should be your first clue that this is definitely a comedy anime, and the story and characters are quite light-hearted and fun. On top of a fun concept, Hayate no Gotoku! draws a lot of its comedic value from the parodies it makes to other anime, manga, Japanese television, and idols. The show makes many references to these other forms of pop culture, always bleeping out the names to avoid saying them directly and breaking the fourth wall by directly engaging with the audience at times, too. And it doesn’t happen once, but rather many, many times. The constant references to other anime and more are what put Hayate no Gotoku! right at the middle of our list of the Top 10 Parody Anime.

6. Hetalia Axis Powers

Hetalia Axis Powers dvd
[sourceLink asin="B003SPDSAS" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 52 " aired=" Jan. 2009 – Mar. 2010 "]

Watching Hetalia Axis Powers is a very unique anime viewing experience however you look at it. At around five minutes an episode, it’s incredibly fast paced and a lot of things happen per episode with many characters. It revolves around the concept of creating the countries of the world as people, playing to all of their major traits, stereotypes, and cultural interests and letting them interact with one another. In Hetalia Axis Powers, the characters specifically are mostly from the major players in World War II. The result is very clever, quickly delivered humour that you can relate to wherever you are from. Most of the anime on this list has been a parody of other anime, but Hetalia Axis Powers is unique. Instead, it is a parody of history, and of countries themselves. All of the traits used to give the characters their personality are extremely exaggerated and the stereotypes are played upon without shame. For example, Italy is obsessed with eating pasta and pizza above everything else, Germany is extremely intense and serious, and Japan is very quiet and loves cats. If you like history, or even if you don’t and just want to see how your own country is portrayed, Hetalia Axis Powers is a hilarious look at our world.

5. Lucky☆Star

lucky star dvd
[sourceLink asin="B002M2T21C" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 24 " aired=" Apr. 2007 – Sep. 2007 "]

Lucky☆Star is, quite basically, an anime about a girl who likes anime. Izumi Konata may be a schoolgirl, but she would rather spend her time reading manga, playing video games, and of course watching anime rather than studying. While Lucky☆Star does not feature much of an overarching storyline, it instead follows the lives of Izumi and her friends throughout their years of high school and showcases the experiences that they have. Because Izumi likes anime and manga, Lucky☆Star constantly makes references to them. While the references may be a little aged now considering it aired in 2007, for fans that still know their older anime and manga (such as Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Full Metal Panic! and Code Geass) it is easy to understand what Lucky☆Star is doing parodies of. And even if you are less familiar with older works, most of the references are obvious enough that you can still probably recognize, or at the very least appreciate, how they are used so critically in making Lucky☆Star exactly what it is. Lucky☆Star also calls on “real” daily lives of anime and manga fans in Japan by exaggerating what it is like to be a fan to continue to add to its relatability and humour.

4. Keroro Gunsou (Sgt. Frog)

keroro gunsou dvd
[sourceLink asin="B006AY44FM" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 358 " aired=" Apr. 2004 – Apr. 2011 "]

Keroro Gunsou is about the Keroro Platoon, a group of five aliens that have the appearance of frogs that are trying to invade Earth. However, they are notoriously unsuccessful each time, and eventually find themselves abandoned by their army and left on Earth. The platoon, led by Keroro Gunsou, find themselves in the care of the human Hinata family, with each alien specifically attached to one human. Keroro Gunsou himself ends up spending most of his time forced to do household chores for the Hinata family, while in his free time building Gundam models. If a story revolving around a main character that looks like a frog isn’t already a unique enough concept to get you interested, Keroro Gunsou still has more. Throughout its staggering 358 episodes, Keroro Gunsou makes light of so many things – other anime (including even obscure ones!), politics, celebrities, Otaku culture, and more. Nothing is safe from being used and abused in this anime to get a laugh, making Keroro Gunsou a fun addition to our list of the Top 10 Parody Anime.

3. Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei dvd
[sourceLink asin="B000T6FGA4" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Jul. 2007 – Sep. 2007 "]

As the title suggests, the lead character of Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei Nozomu Itoshiki is full of despair. Everything that he does can cause him great distress and sadness, even simple things in life. And yet, somehow he ends up a teacher at a school where all of his students are even more emotional in various ways, and he is left to deal with all of them! Each student has their own unique personality and exaggerated quirks, both positive and negative, with each episode revolving around one of them. Each episode of Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei is a parody of some aspect of Japanese life. Even the titles of the episodes are plays on Japanese literature, and usually give a hint as to what the episode will be exploring. Instead of using these themes in a typical manner, however, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei takes them either extremely logically, or incredibly literally. For example, one episode revolves around the idea of arranged marriages in Japan, but in Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei you are matched up with someone you make eye contact with. These intense looks at Japanese language and culture are done in a surprisingly comedic way so that even when the subject matter might be dark, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei remains a really fun parody to enjoy!

2. Osomatsu-san (Mr. Osomatsu)

Osomatsu-san dvd
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B0162IXPVY" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 25 " aired=" Oct. 2015 – Mar. 2016 "]

Osomatsu-san is the story of the identical sextuplets Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu. It is a sequel to the 1960s anime Osomatsu-kun, though it can be watched alone. In Osomatsu-san, the story follows the brothers from the first show as they move into adulthood. It turns out that all six of them have become NEETs and spend their whole day being lazy at home! The anime follows their daily lives, showcasing each brother’s unique and extreme personality, and even their neighbours are all eccentric characters as well to add to the chaos. Osomatsu-san parodies mostly other animes and parts of Japanese culture in its episodes, but occasionally Western pop culture as well. The entire first episode of the anime has an incredible amount of anime parodies that happen very quickly, including big names like Shingeki no Kyojin and Kuroko no Basuke – and has subsequently been removed from the Japanese Blu-ray release. The third episode so closely resembled Anpanman that the network forced it to be reanimated, as Osomatsu-san is written for an adult audience. However, never fear – many, many other parodies still exist in the show, so if you are looking for the anime equivalent to a Western show like South Park or the Simpsons, full of pop culture references and a dry look at society, Osomatsu-san is definitely for you.

1. Gintama

dvd Gintama
[sourceLink asin="B0035ZZ9OE" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 201 " aired=" Apr. 2006 – Mar. 2010 "]

Gintama takes place during Feudal Japan, but it’s far from your typical samurai anime. In Gintama, aliens have taken over Japan, and they have placed a ban on the use of swords that makes life very difficult for samurai. The eccentric Gintoki Sakata does his best to live in this society despite being a samurai himself, and has become mostly an errand boy in order to pay the rent. However, keeping life interesting he has constant run-ins with the authorities, assassins, and other criminals. As one of the most popular anime in Japan, Gintama is doing something right – and that something is utilizing amazing parodies in its storytelling. Gintama breaks the fourth wall by making fun of tropes common in other shounen anime, such as making fight scenes shorter because it is easier for the artist. It also includes exaggerated versions of historical Japanese figures as characters, and has an underlying theme of social equality that is a look at the struggles of modern Japanese society. All the while, Gintama is a funny show, with fast humour and hilarious characters. If you’re curious about why this anime has become so popular in Japan, be sure to check it out and give it a try yourself!

Guruguru mawaru Guruguru, mawaru Guruguru mawaru Guruguru, mawaru Guruguru mawaru Guruguru mawaru Guruguru mawaru Guruguru mawaru we here at Honey’s Anime are spinning and turning, spinning and turning especially after having a marathon viewing session of School Rumble. We are sure you too will have this catchy opening theme stuck in your head after the first episode (more so after binge watching the 52 episodes and two OVAs) of this wacky romantic comedy series that originally aired between 2004 and 2005. A brief synopsis of the story is it is (1) a comedy, (2) in a slice of life format with each episode broken up into two or three stories, and (3) it’s set in a high school. The plot centers around Tenma Tasukamoto, a genuinely cute sophomore girl; but Tenma has a problem, she is a total spaz. You see, the heroine has a crush on a boy in her class named Karasuma and simply cannot confess, communicate in semaphore, or talk to him in any way. We also have another complication; she isn’t the only character that gets completely spastic in front of the object of their affection. Kenji Harima, the school delinquent has a crush on (guess who?) Tenma. You can see how the hijinks will ensue as each hopeless hero attempts to confess to their love. We at Honey’s Anime have a list of six suggestions for you if you still need a crazy love comedy in your life after you finish up with Temna and her friends.

[sourceLink asin="B004SGWYUG" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 26 " aired=" Apr 2, 2010 to Sept 24, 2010 "]

The story follows Misaki Ayuzawa, a student council president of a co-ed school that truly isn’t used to a female authority figure. The boys nicknamed Misaki the “Demon President” for her no-holds-barred philosophy for enforcing discipline. She could also be viewed as a man hater. You’ll find out she has well-founded trust issues when it comes to men. Her image is one of perfection in the classroom and at sports, oh and she is gorgeous. She has a secret though, her family is struggling. The house they live in is falling apart and every member of her family works just to pay the bills. Misaki is no exception; she gets the best job she can and does it to perfection, working at a Maid Café. We know, it’s shocking in a show with a title like Maid-Sama. The twist is that the most handsome boy at school, Takumi Usui, wanders into her café one day and uncovers her secret. The question is what will he do? Will he expose her? Will he blackmail her? Or just fall in love with this amazing, hardworking heroine? Maid-sama shares the common school life theme following a character through a combination of slice-of-life and romance adventures. The drama in Maid-sama is a little deeper than School Rumble; you care about the trouble in Misaki’s life.

2. Full Metal Panic!

[sourceLink asin="B003NE8B4M" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 24 " aired=" Jan 8, 2002 to Jun 18, 2002 "]

The story centers around two characters, Kaname Chidori and Sousuke Sagara. Kaname is an exceptionally bright second-year high school girl with a gift. She is what is called “Whispered,” an individual who possesses an innate knowledge to build and operate amazing and powerful technology. She leads an ordinary high school life -- that is until she is secretly singled out as a Whispered candidate and becomes the target of terrorists hoping to capture her and use her skills for nefarious purposes. So she needs the protection of an agency called Mithril, and namely Sergeant Sousuke Sagara. The battle-hardened Sagara is forced to work undercover and becomes the classic “transfer student.” His plate fills up fast as he has to guard Kaname and his secret from classmates and terrorists. School Rumble and Full Metal Panic! are both set in your average high school, not one of those super elite schools for the uber-rich or one of those magical high schools where students are encouraged to fight each other like it’s ancient Sparta. The schools are just your basic high school with your average students, no super powers needed for admittance. The shows also have a similar slapstick humor, whether it is the outlandish behavior of the characters or the events around them. The use of guns and military hardware including giant robots is a little out of the ordinary, but outrageous humor still stands. The arrangement of the episodes is also similar, in many cases segmenting the story into slice-of-life arcs in each episode. The majority of the slapstick has to with the overreaction of Sousuke to the most benign situations and him leaping into action to “save” Kaname. Like School Rumble, the story boils down to an awkward relationship. While neither character in Full Metal Panic! starts off with a full-fledged confession, you understand that there will be a romantic connection the moment he threw her to the ground in the girls’ locker room and pointed a gun at the door to protect her.

Chiyo Sakura is one of the most adorable characters in years with her short stature and big polka dot bows. The plot follows Chiyo, who has fallen in love with Umetarou Nozaki a high school student roughly four times her size. A great thing about Chiyo is she makes her confession in episode one, or at least attempts to. She somehow instead of saying “I like you,” she says “I’m your biggest fan.” A statement like that would be weird to most guys, that is unless they are secretly a successful shoujo mangaka. A few miscommunications happen and she ends up as his assistant. We see some of the ways these stories are alike right off the bat; the heroine is totally in love and the protagonist doesn’t have a clue. You get to follow Chiyo as she gets involved in many ridiculous circumstances all as part of her life working with Nozaki. You find yourself rooting for this adorable little artist as she does her best to get the man she admires to notice her. The setting is also similar in that they are set in a high school. While School Rumble doesn’t dissect the high school experience that much, Nozaki does. You see how he sees the students he is enrolled with. A great similarity is the way you get to see her and in many ways see the inner thoughts and monologue of the heroine. The anime of School Rumble and Monthly Girls are both perfect if you are in the need for a good laugh at the awkward world of high school love.

[sourceLink asin="B003FRIUR0" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Apr 2, 2010 to Jun 18, 2010 "]

Yamada’s First Time focuses on Yamada, a 15-year-old high school girl, and a virgin, who wants sex. She doesn’t just want sex; her outrageous goal is to have 100 sex partners despite the fact that she is still a virgin. A chance encounter with a boy in a bookstore leads to her fixating on losing “it” to him. She doesn’t realize until later that he is a classmate of hers. You get to follow Yamada and her strange pursuit of Kosuda in vignettes. The similarities with School Rumble don’t stop at the fact that a lot of it takes place at a high school and it is about a high school girl. In both you get an inside look at the thoughts of a somewhat delusional main character as she navigates young love. We also get to watch the characters’ friends, like Chika Yamada (the younger sister) and Takeshita Miharu (the best friend), watch and comment on the hopelessness of the heroines. Yamada is absolutely not appropriate for all ages. But it is very, very funny. It’s a mad cap comedy with an outrageous main character as she bumbles her way toward love.

5. Nisekoi (Nisekoi: False Love)

dvd Nisekoi
[sourceLink asin="B00TH9YQS2" asin_jp="" text="" url="" ]
[Information episodes=" 20 " aired=" Jan 11,2014 to May 24, 2014 "]

The plot of Nisekoi is a school romance based on absurdity and a love triangle that blossoms into that of a love quadrilateral later in the series. We start the story learning that Raku Ichijou, a first-year student, is the “heir apparent to a yakuza clan,” but is determined to follow the path of the straight and narrow. We also discover he has a crush on a girl named Onodera. He then gets kneed in the face by the new transfer student Chitoge Kirisaki, leading to a case of oil meets water. We’ve seen similar plots in Shakespeare; in this case it leads to a similar set up of these two being betrothed. Did we mention that Chitoge is a mob princess? We find the two of them have to at least bury the hatchet and hopefully not in each other, to avoid a mob war. The rest of this insane comedy is filled with slapstick; most of it at the expense of Raku. If you pay attention you’ll even see a callout to the classic arcade game Donkey Kong in the first episode. The pace of this series is excellent. You move from one segment to the other without getting too bogged down by overall story of a pending gangland war. We still get to see a character pining away for another girl as everything and anything gets in the way of them being together. We get to see a couple that can’t stand each other be forced to pretend to like each other. You don’t have the weird mental pictures from our character’s minds like you do in School Rumble, but you do get to hear their thoughts in many cases in small pauses between the action. Nisekoi has been one of the most popular anime in recent years and you’ve probably already watched it. The whole series is a great example of a romantic school comedy involving a great cast of supporting characters. Also, you can’t help but smile every time Chitoge says “darling.”

[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" Apr 12, 2009 to Jun 28, 2009 "]

The story (or should we say stories) of Hatsukoi Limited focuses on the first loves of several middle and high schoolers. The episodes tend to focus on a different character in each episode, giving you the chance to look in on the lives of these young people. You will definitely develop a favorite as the story progresses and the various threads are woven into complex plot. The relationship between Ayumi and Zaitsu is the first one you get to see, and the story of beast loves girl feels like it could have been one of the inspirations for “My Love Story.” The following story features Kei, your classic tsundere, and Kusuda and is one of the best plot arcs because of its depth. The cast of characters and the stories of finding true love are one of the elements that make Hatsukoi like School Rumble. The Ayumi and Zaitsu storyline is similar in several ways to Tenma and Harima. Zaitsu is considered a tough guy and easily scares everyone despite his truly gentle personality and his only objective is to be with the girl he fell in love with. The humor is great, but a lot lighter on the slapstick. While there is some slapstick, you just have to keep up with the dialogue for the best jokes. You do have to be patient with this series; its pace is a little slow, but the payoff is wonderfully sweet at the end. We can’t help but think this is one of the more underrated series out there. Yes, its art style is showing its age a little but get over it, the girls are still cute in their seifuku (sailor style school uniforms).

CLOSING

The anime above is really a short list and just scratches the surface in the romantic comedy category. We did our best to find school romantic comedies that didn’t involve the supernatural (and only failed on one occasion). We could have included even crazier comedies that involve those elements like Love tu Ru or the Familiar of Zero but decided to be a little more grounded. 5 Reasons Why Sora and Shiro Are Gamers You Don't Want to Go Against

[imgOverlay img='no game no life wallpaper' text="Sora and Shiro Are Gamers You Don't Want to Go Against" text_position="aligncenter"] [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B00JIJNN12" text="" url="" ]

It’s undisputed that this duo took the anime industry by storm. With their intellect and prowess in beating any opponent at any game, they are a force to be reckoned that even a God had acknowledged their talents. Before they were transported into a different world, both Sora and Shiro were already top gamers operating under the name -Blank-. Unknown to the world, the NEET siblings continued dominating the gaming world. Maybe it's the experience or their intellect, but you definitely do not want to go up against this duo and here are 5 reasons why.

[ad_top2 class="mt40"]

1. Together, They’re an Unstoppable Force

No Game No Life wallpaper
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="B018XADROO" text="" url="" ]

Due to the fact that they are siblings, they have already formed a relationship that far surpasses the normal boundaries of friends. Being related means that they grew up together, and perhaps even shared a few common experiences. With that being said, they are able to work well together to the point that they anticipate the actions of the others. Via eliminating the trouble of directly communicating with each other, they are able to increase their response time as well or even concoct a plan together without their opponent realising. Perhaps the real reason why they have not lost so far is their impressive teamwork to the point of understanding what the other is thinking. Their co-dependency is so strong that are functioning as a single entity despite being 2 individuals. To understand - Blank -, you must be able to comprehend the minds of 2 instead of 1. The wealth of information, knowledge and wisdom are shared which puts - Blank - ahead of others.

2. Individually, They’re Skilled

no game no life Captcha Picture 2
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="no game no life Ep 1" url="" ]

Sora has a way with his words and is extremely charismatic (ironic since he is a NEET and does not spend too much time with the outside world anyway). In addition to his high intellect, his way with words makes him a master negotiator who excelled at any forms of games that requires speech such as the verbal chess game and word games. In the battle between Jibril, he combines his intellect and his charisma to trick Jibril by combining his knowledge of the prior world and knowledge of the current world, eventually winning the game for the Imanity. What Sora lacks for in analytics, he makes it up by displaying his skill in managing a country and fixing all of the dire problems in a few weeks such as internal conflict and politics, to external and foreign affairs. In contrast, Shiro is a more reserved individual who is equally gifted. While Sora is usually the person who makes -Blank- known via promoting the duo, Shiro is more of the brains and the person acting behind the scenes. Calm and analytical, Shiro possesses the ability to solve problems. This was shown in Chess, in which her prowess for the game is demonstrated. She is so good at it that even Sora commented that he might not even win a game against her. What many failed to realise however is that -Blank- is actually made up of 2 individuals and as discussed earlier, are individually gifted in their own ways. They function collectively as one, and are not independent from the other. Acting together as the singular entity known only as -Blank-, you definitely do not want to go up against them as their combination of their skills is what makes them the best in any game.

3. They’re Quick Learners

no game no life Captcha PIcture 3
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="no game no life Ep 4" url="" ]

Sora and Shiro both possesses eidetic memory - the ability to recall memories after being exposed to it for a mere few seconds. They let this ability be a basis for the strength in not only their games, but also on how they control their environment. As shown, they were able to pick up the Imanity's language in a matter of hours (with Sora being just a little bit slower than Shiro). They managed to learn the culture of the Imanity through reading up about it in the library as well. Uncovering the secret behind the Werebeast's game was also no easy feat. Through the keen observation of the surroundings and circumstances such as Jibril not knowing what a video game was, they managed to learn that the game was in the form of a video game. Next, their research into the vast history of all the past games of Werebeast's game with the other races eventually led them to uncover the secret that the Werebeast's ability to read minds was false. Their ability to rapidly absorb information is why you do not want to go against them in games, especially high-intensity games.

4. They’re Visionaries and Can Anticipate the Future

Sora No Game No Life wallpaper
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="No Game No Life Vol.4 Blu-ray" url="" ]

Sora and Shiro are able to see into the future. You might be even thinking that they possess the power of clairvoyance. However, their skill to analyse and anticipate makes them the best visionaries of both worlds. Simply put, they’re not psychics and espers, but rather, they’re visionaries with the ability to accurately speculate the unknown. Shiro was shown to be skilled in FPS games as she was able to accurately foresee the movements of other players and calculate the trajectory of the bullets. Winning a game is knowing the situation and then adapting it to your advantage such that you achieve a favourable outcome. Shiro was able to accurately predict the minds of players to her advantage. Sora is equally skilled as well. As shown in a game of Othello, most of us are quite dumbfounded as to why Sora was wiped out of existence. All was revealed in the next episode however, where the actions of Sora were finally explained as to why he made himself disappear such that Shiro can complete the game for him. By putting his utmost faith in Shiro and by extrapolating the known actions of his sister, he took a huge risk by betting his existence on his game. Even before playing the game, he already knows what it takes to win the game of Othello. To have vision and predict the future is a skill that is present in all successful businessmen and politicians. There is nothing more fearsome than going against someone that can already see themselves winning. In fact, seeing the glint in the eyes of - Blank - of their assured victory should be an indicator to back off already.

5. They've Never Lost

no game no life Captcha Picture 5
[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" text="no game no life Ep 4" url="" ]

When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. That's the secret of - Blank -. They always have a plan. Their combined talents that was discussed thus far makes it possible for them to actually win any game as long as they plan for it. With their numerous skills at their arsenal, losing has never been an option. To them, the worst case scenario is a scenario where they were not able to gain as much. The only losses that was recorded were only between the siblings and they suffered no recorded actual losses to others. Their steady track record is also what makes them confident and this confidence that exudes from them is intimidating for most of the characters in the series as well. That is because the confidence that they emanate is one of assured victory as they already knew that they had won. That is a very heavy psychological barrier to overcome to be honest... Even before reaching the new world, both of them lived their lives playing games and dominating every single MMOs on the market. The name -Blank- is heavily respected and feared as they have not lost a single game.

Closing Paragraph

No Game No Life was a brilliant anime that has many mind-blowing events and twists. It also reveals that the worst opponents that you will ever want to come across would be no other than Sora and Shiro. The whole existence of their lives had been around gaming. This already puts them at the edge over just about everyone else. Their experience in gaming alone would be enough to intimidate you, let alone beating 2 of them at once. Their genius level, intelligence, and experience ought to be the sole reason why you would never want to go against these two in a challenge as their pure abilities far exceeds that of any gamers despite being NEETs. Facing them is no easy task, to which you must even ask yourself if you dare to face these two in a game. Look at their brilliant strategies and tactics, would you still go against these two in a game? We wouldn't.

Magic has been recognized and analyzed over the last century. What was once the realm of folklore and tales is now a formalized practice and applied science. And magicians—those capable of using magic to its fullest potential—hold the power to change the world on every conceivable level. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei follows Tatsuya Shiba, a magician who excels at magical combat and technical knowledge, and Miyuki Shiba, his sister and the heir of the Yotsuba family who Tatsuya is assigned to protect, as they begin their first day at a school for magicians known as First High School. However, the school segregates the students based on their entrance exam scores, with the best students (known as "Blooms") being assigned to First Course and the worst students (known as "Weeds") being assigned to the Second Course. Due to the exams not accounting for his talents, Tatsuya is placed in the Second Course, making him an irregular student within the magic high school. (Source: MAL)

Based on the award-winning Koten-bu light novel series, and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto of Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu, Hyouka shows that normal life can be full of small mysteries, be it family history, a student film, or even the withered flowers that make up a ghost story. [imgOverlaySmall img='dvd No Game No Life' text="1742 votes" text_position=""]
[Information episodes=" 12 " aired=" April 2014 to June 2014 "]

Synopsis

No Game No Life is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username "Kuuhaku." They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games. The mysterious god welcomes Sora and Shiro to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict—from petty squabbles to the fate of whole countries—are settled not through war, but by way of high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party's wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world. Summary of “said” Event

Every spring, anime fans gather from near and far in order to hit SakuraCon in Seattle, Washington. A convention dedicated to anime, manga, music, and Japanese culture, SakuraCon is the largest convention of its kind in this region of the United States. It wasn't always like this though.

Official website: http://sakuracon.org/

When it Established

SakuraCon comes from humble beginnings. Frustrated with the lack of anime programming at other conventions in the area, fans gathered together to create a brand new anime-centric convention. In its first year back in 1998, it was known as Baka!-Con and drew only a couple of hundred attendees. Still, the convention pushed forward and grew steadily over the next couple of decades until it finally reached over 23,000 attendees in 2015.

Length of event

While the convention has been held in various cities throughout the western half of the state over the years, the convention has always lasted for three days over a weekend in either March or April.

Cost

Buying a pass for the convention is a fairly painless process. If you wish to attend the convention, you can buy a weekend pass either at the con itself or via their website. Unfortunately, the convention does not sell day passes and so you must purchase an entire weekend pass. If you purchase it early enough (generally within four months of the previous year's convention ending) though a pass to get you in for the entire weekend will only cost $40. After that the price of a weekend pass goes up gradually until it reaches its full price of $70 for the weekend at the door.

Hotels

When you have more than 20,000 attendees converging on one spot, you're going to need hotel space. Taking place in the heart of downtown, there are a number of hotels that offer discounted rates to convention attendees: Crown Plaza, Fairmount Olympic, Hilton, Homewood Suites, Hotel Max, Hyatt, Motif, Renaissance, Sheraton, The Paramount and The Roosevelt. All of these hotels are but a short walk away from the convention center and some even offer some great scenery along the way to the convention center.

Company / event message for fans / attendees

The message of SakuraCon is pretty simple and straight forward. If you visit their website, you are only one click away from seeing their mission statement which reads: “Operated by a 100% all-volunteer staff, our main goal is for everyone to have fun and to foster learning more about the cultures that bring us our favorite media.”

What to Expect

While the convention offers fun things to during every day of the event, the best days to attend are still Friday and Saturday with the biggest events and best cosplay being broken out on the latter of the two days. This year, for instance, featured the Sword Art Online movie event as well as some of the finest cosplay that Seattle has seen since last year's convention. However, don't think that the only days of the con worth attending are the first two. If you're the type of person who loves to score a deal or a bargain, you'll want to stick around for the final day of the convention to possibly score a great deal in the merchandise room from one of the many vendors.

Regardless of when you attend, it's important to note that Seattle is a very laid back city that, despite being almost entirely powered by caffeine, moves at its own unique pace. While there are always going to be a few bad eggs who are out to ruin the fun of others, for the most part the people and businesses in Seattle are very welcoming of SakuraCon attendees. What to Bring in Order to Enjoy Oneself

If you've never been to a convention before it can be tempting to over pack and prepare for every single little contingency or emergency that might arise. Luckily SakuraCon is pretty experienced and do their best to help their attendees out with whatever little emergency they might encounter during the course of the weekend. When you're within the walls of the convention, you are well protected from wardrobe malfunctions thanks to the Cosplay Repair Station and any injuries that might occur thanks to the First Aid station. For things that the convention can't cover, there are a number of drug stores near the convention center which will be happy to sell you whatever you need to get through the weekend. There are a number of essential items that you'll want to pack before you leave to attend SakuraCon but there are two things in particular that are an absolute must beyond any other thing (besides maybe clothing): some form of currency and some form of Vitamin C. Between food, drinks and the merchandise room there are many, many different ways to break your bank account at this convention so be sure to show up with money as well as a budget for you to stick to. Additionally, protect yourself from con plague by bringing along some kind of Vitamin C to take over the course of the weekend. If your hotel has a refrigerator in each room, bring along a bottle of juice. If your hotel doesn't have that amenity, bring along some vitamin powder. Do not let yourself forget to take your vitamins though, otherwise you might find yourself sick and miserable by the end of the weekend and that is never fun. Luckily, spring weather in Seattle is generally fairly pleasant. You might get rained on a little but most years the sun will be shining and the temperature will be comfortable.

What to do While There / What is Available

The big question now though is what do you do once you get to the convention? The good news is that there is no easy answer to the question. No matter what form of anime, manga, or Japanese culture you're interested in there is always something to do! If you're interested in learning about the industry and finding out about the latest news, there are a number of industry panels that you can attend. If you're more interested in meeting voice actors and creators from both the United States and Japan, SakuraCon invites a large number of them every year and they always host interesting panels. If you just want to talk about your favorite anime with other fans, SakuraCon hosts some pretty fantastic fan panels every year. One of the best kept secrets of the convention lies on the second floor of the convention center and that would be the Kimono Workshop sponsored by the Kabuki Academy. In this room, attendees of all ages can get dressed up in authentic kimonos and snap a few photos of the experience which always ends up being a memory that will last you for a lifetime.

Cosplay

If you're a cosplayer, be sure to sign up for the annual Cosplay Chess event which is always a blast for both the audience and the participants. In this annual event, cosplayer’s step onto a giant chess board and take the place of chess pieces. Two experienced chess players then move the cosplayer’s around the board in a real life game that always results in hilarity. As you might have guessed, SakuraCon is very big on cosplay. There are a variety of reasons why people cosplay at this con. Some people do it just for fun and to show off their love for a particular series or character. Some people take it a bit more seriously and want to show off their skills. Regardless of the reason, this is a great convention to take photos at.

Overall Review / Experience / Final Thoughts

For over a decade now, SakuraCon has been my home away from home. It is my oasis from the stress of real life. Some people will tell you that SakuraCon is a convention that only teenagers and kids can enjoy but every year that I attend I see people of all ages having a good time: teenagers, kids, seniors, middle aged parents, adults... no one is excluded from the fun! No matter what age you are or what your experience level with anime is, there is something for everyone at SakuraCon.
