One of this season’s wacky comedies, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is a fun series following the titular Iruma-kun, a young boy who is a total pushover and simply can’t say no to any request, who somehow finds himself in the underworld as the adopted grandson of a powerful demon named Sullivan after his deadbeat parents sell his soul. As it turns out, life isn’t really all that bad in the underworld as Sullivan loves to dote on Iruma and even ends up sending him to school with the one caveat being that his demonic teachers and classmates might be interested in eating him if they discover his humanity. With some luck, newfound friendships, and a hefty amount of divine intervention from Sullivan, Iruma’s madcap demonic adventures begin! For those looking for more shows like Mairimashita! Iruma-kun we’ve come up with 6 other series worth checking out. We’re basing our picks on similarities in style and specifically picked anime that also played with the showing demons and other supernatural beings in a comedic light. Without further ado, let’s give the devil his due and get on with it already!

1. Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part-Timer!)

[sourceLink asin="0316383120" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="April 2013 – June 2013"][/en]

The great and mighty demon king Satan has been waging a long war against the other kingdoms of Ente Isla in his quest to conquer the entire continent. While initially successful, he now finds his armies failing as a group of heroes push their way into his castle. Faced with defeat, Satan narrowly escapes with his loyal general Alsiel by opening a dimensional portal into… modern-day Japan! With their powers severely diminished, Satan and Alsiel, now known as Sadao Maou and Shirou Ashiya, have to quickly adapt to life on Earth and that means finding jobs, an apartment, and hopefully a way to get back to Ente and reclaim their former glory. Lacking in practical skills, Sadao finds work at the amusingly named fast-food restaurant MgRonald's and hopes to climb the corporate ladder to eventually rule over Earth (maybe). The Devil is a Part-Timer is likely what many will first think of it terms of similar anime to Mairimashita! Iruma-kun since at a base level it’s the reverse situation of a demon adapting to the normal world and both feature comically unconventional takes on devils. Needless to say, the concept of Satan, albeit a more Dragon Quest-esque fantasy take on him, working as a fast-food fry cook is immediately compelling and hilarious. Both series also have a strong supporting cast with a particular similarity between Alsiel/Shirou and Asmodeus Alice. Overall, The Devil is a Part-Timer! is simply a fantastic comedy worth checking out in general and a great companion for fans of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun with its devilish antics.

2. Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero)

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="13" item2="Aired" content2="July 2006 –September 2006" ][/en]

An obnoxiously-named, and generally obnoxious, rubbish wizard-in-training Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière is also known as Zero by many of her classmates at the prestigious Tristain Academy of Magic due to her frequent failings at casting magic. On the day of the summoning ritual where the mages first meet their familiars, Zero’s spell results in a gigantic explosion which seems like yet another mistake but eventually reveals that she did, in fact, summon something, that something being regular Tokyo dude Saito Hiraga. Saito unwillingly becomes her familiar despite his seeming mundanity and gets bossed around by Zero who makes him do her chores and other stuff. While their relationship starts off rough, Zero soon shows tsundere tendencies and hints drop that Saito himself might have more powers of his own. While not specifically riffing off of the whole demon trope, Zero no Tsukaima shares a lot in common with Mairimashita! Iruma-kun like having a normal boy being isekai’d into a magical school setting and even a similar joke about having a person as a familiar with how Iruma accidentally summons his professor Naberius Kalego as his. Zero no Tsukaima has more of a romance and harem aspect and a bit of a different sense of humor and feel overall but is still a good recommendation for Iruma-kun watchers and a fun series in its own right that fans of comedic fantasy should try out!

3. Jitsu wa Watashi wa (Actually, I am...)

High schooler Asahi Kuromine, aka Anazaru, accidentally discovers that his crush Youko Shiragami is a vampire after trying to confess to her after school which, according to her father’s rules, means that she’ll have to transfer out to keep the secret. Obviously, Asahi doesn’t want this so he promises not to tell. Unfortunately, Asahi is an open book when it comes to his emotions which practically makes it impossible for him to ever lie. Things get further complicated as it seems that more and more people in the school might be more than they’re letting on. Will Asashi be able to handle the pressure to keep the secret and impress Youko? Well, actually… Without spoiling too much, Jitsu wa Watashi wa, like Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, deals with a relatively normal guy struggling to keep a secret while being in a school surrounded by bizarre supernatural beings, this time with vampires (among other things) but in an otherwise ordinary setting. Protagonists Asahi and Iruma feel fairly similar to each other with their shy, somewhat awkward personalities and willingness to help others as well as the general concept as outlined before. Overall, we think Iruma-kun watchers might get a lot of enjoyment out of Jitsu wa Watashi wa, especially if they also like romantic comedies.

4. Beelzebub

[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="60" item2="Aired" content2="January 2011 – March 2012" ][/en]

The top badass at Ishiyama High, a school full of rebellious delinquents of all sorts, Tatsumi Oga is known as the best fighter around as well as one of the most cruel and arrogant. These features ultimately end up in him being selected as the person to raise the son of a demon lord, the deceptively cute baby Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV, or "Baby Beel" for short, who forms a bond with Oga immediately after crawling out of a body split in two. Thus Oga and his gang, along with Beel’s demon maid Hildegard, reluctantly raise the little devil in a hostile environment full of other demons and punks looking for a fight, but it’s also funny! Beelzebub’s delinquents-meets-demons style and setting is a charming combination that helps it stand out but also connects it to Mairimashita! Iruma-kun with its comedic slant that might be a little surprising given the circumstances. This show has a lot of heart and is less of a pure comedy than Iruma-kun with plenty of action and some actual creepy moments, but is still a unique and genuinely funny anime that we recommend checking out.

5. Machikado Mazoku (The Demon Girl Next Door)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="PCBE-56264" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="12" item2="Aired" content2="July 2019 – September 2019"][/en]

High school freshman Yuko Yoshida wakes up to find she has sprouted a pair of small curly horns from her head along with a pointed tail after waking up from a strange dream involving an ancient ancestor. Utterly perplexed, her mom reveals that her family is actually descendant from a dark clan of demons who have been cursed to live in poverty by magical girls and that Yuko must find and defeat one to restore their powers and status. Conveniently, Yuko’s pink-haired neighbor and classmate Momo Chiyoda is a magical girl but also an extremely powerful one. Yuko’s feeble abilities are so sucky, in fact, that Momo actually agrees to help train her so she can put up more of a fight. Compared to Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, Machikado Mazoku rams headfirst into the moe category but is still a comedy at its core with charming characters and funny situations that fans of Iruma-kun will likely love. In particular, Yuko being completely underpowered in her demonic abilities and the way the supernatural aspects are handled in humorous ways like Yuko’s ancestor Lilith basically being confined to a goofy stone statue Yuko has to carry around (and often misplaces) and the curse of her clan being specifically related to how much money they have are really entertaining. Yuko and Momo’s relationship and their ultra-cute designs are another highlight. Altogether, a strong recommendation for comedies that poke fun at the idea of demons and, in this case, also magical girls.

6. Kyo Kara Maoh! (King From Now On!)

[sourceLink asin="B00079I0B0" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="78" item2="Aired" content2="April 2004 – February 2006"][/en]

Another average boy finding himself in a fantasy world, Kyo Kara Maoh! follows teenager Yuri Shibuya who gets teleported to the faraway land of demons, called Mazoku, after getting a toilet swirly of all things by bullies when trying to defend his friend Ken Murata. Seeing his black hair and eyes, the people in the new world think Yuri must be an heir to the throne and bring him to the capital to be crowned. However, Yuri’s peaceful nature and ignorance of Mazoku culture make him a divisive character with many skeptics so he must prove his worth in the new land by winning duels and gathering allies using his newfound powers. Out of all the recommendations here, Kyo Kara Maoh! is probably the most tenuous in its similarity with Mairimashita! Iruma-kun because it’s only partially a comedy and has more unique world-building that makes it more of a classic fantasy adventure with a few dark and serious bits than a parody one, not to mention a more shoujo style overall that includes a bevy of bishounen and boarderline shounen-ai elements. All that being said, Kyo Kara Maoh! is a demon-focused isekai with the potential to be really hilarious and appealing to a certain crowd. That’s why we think Mairimashita! Iruma-kun fans might want to give a chance if it sounds interesting.

One thing that has always been awesome is the concept of sports in anime. Take the drama and action that comes with anime, plus some amazing characters and character growth and you have yourself some incredibly compelling shows that sometimes don’t feel like they get enough attention. This time around, 2019’s Ahiru no Sora is the medium’s new take on basketball, which isn’t something entirely new but given previous experiences with basketball anime and sports anime in general, we’re right to expect something that is absolute fire! Enough of that though, we’re bringing you 6 anime like Ahiru no Sora – call it a sports anime alley-oop if you’d like.

Teikou Junior High’s basketball team is a powerhouse. The strength of the team lay in its starters who were considered miracles of athleticism. Teikou Junior High’s championship team eventually graduates and like many great teams of the past split up and go their different ways. Seirin High wants to win a championship of their own and recruits Kagami Taiga, a returnee from the US and Kuroko Tetsuya. Tetsuya is the kind of player who slips under the radar of most scouts but has a stacked stat sheet that shows he’s the man that makes plays by getting the stars the ball. Kuroko and Taiga want to help Seirin become the best team in Japan, so they make a promise to mow down any team that gets in their way; however, to do that, they have to defeat some exceptional teams. Possibly the very first title from recent times that comes to mind when someone mentions the basketball-themed Ahiru no Sora, Kuroko no Basuke is one of the standout sport anime titles of the past decade and with good reason – it’s pretty amazing! The similarities here go beyond basketball; however, as both anime feature, main characters with great potential but they begin in an underdog position of some sort.

Hinata Shoyo dreams of becoming the next “Little Giant”, a famous volleyball player who was short in stature, just like him. He works, and works, and works hard to make himself and his middle school volleyball the best they can be and even make it into a tournament. Hinata and his middle school team are brutally dismantled by the larger more talented team lead by Kageyama Tobio. The embarrassing defeat lights a fire in Hinata to one day defeat Kageyama. A twist comes when the small kid with the big dreams ends up on the same high school team as his rival. Can Hinata earn Kageyama’s respect with his athletics and sheer will? And will Kageyama learn that even at 162.8 cm you can be a giant. Like Ahiru no Sora, Haikyuu! presents the viewer with an underdog protagonist – in both shows, the main character experiences a height disadvantage that makes them seemingly ill-suited for the sport they’d like to play. However, both shows also have main characters who are compelled to become great in their respective sports and work extremely hard in order to achieve their goals.

Sakuragi Hanamichi is delinquent known for his height, size, and temper. Yet, the tough guy wants to change his rep now that he is entering high school. He like a lot of high school guys wants to be popular with the ladies. So, when a girl named Akagi Haruko comes up to him and asks him if he likes basketball, a sport he loathes by the way, he says yes. The two run off to the gym where she encourages him to show off and asks if he can dunk the ball. He with all the confidence in the world tries to dunk the ball but jumps so high he slams his face into the backboard. Hanamichi’s ability quickly reaches the ears of the basketball captain and the new reputation he wants is born on the hardwood. The one known classic title on this list, Inoue Takehiko’s Slam Dunk has done a lot for the sports anime as a sub-genre. The main similarity between Ahiru no Sora and Slam Dunk is most obviously the fact that they are both basketball anime that feature main characters who are somewhat disadvantaged when it comes to the sport. Hanamichi begins with very little skill while Sora is forced to overcome a physical deficit if he ever hopes to become a success.

Professional sumo is an intense sport where anyone willing to push their boundaries can step into the ring. There may not be any weight classes but there is a minimum size requirement and Ushio Hinomaru doesn’t meet that requirement despite his hard work. He dreams of one day becoming the highest sumo class, the Hinoshita Kaisan. He has only one path to professional sumo is if he becomes the high school Yokozuna, the strongest wrestler in the high school tournaments. Ushio is feeling the pressure as he has only one window to show off his skills or else, he’ll never be able to go pro. Instead of going to the strong sumo school Ishigami High, he enrolls at Odachi High, where he has to build the sumo club from the ground up if he wants to have any chance at becoming a professional sumo wrestler.    Yet again, we’re shown a sports anime where the main focus is a diminutive protagonist who will stop at nothing to become great at their favorite sport. The other similarity between the two series is the fact that both main characters are put into a situation where they have to build their respective schools’ sports clubs in order to have an actual competitive edge in the greater sporting community of which they are a part.

Athletes, especially successful ones expect to keep on winning and when they don’t the feeling can be overwhelming. Aragaki Nagisa felt a combination of shame and frustration when she lost 21-0 at the National Junior Badminton Tournament. She takes out that very frustration on the other members of the club causing them to leave or give up the sport. The club is a coached by a former talented Olympic hopeful who wants to make the team and Nagisa better players. He goes about recruiting Hanasaki Ayano the very girl that wiped the floor with Nagisa. The only problem is getting Ayano to play badminton again after leaving the sport and the mental scars from her years of practice behind. Hanebado and Ahiru no Sora have different dynamics as far as the main character goes; however, there is a common denominator in the way in which the series has characters who have lost their love for the game that they play, for various reasons. Hanebado’s Nagisa and Ahiru no Sora’s Sora are similar in the way in which they put everything into the game; however, Sora being the catalyst for a basketball resurgence at his high school can be likened to the impact Hanesaki Ayano has on the badminton club at Kitakomachi High.

Heroland - Launch Trailer

Who it Caters to

Heroland is a title that demonstrates the importance of quality over quantity, and places more of its attention towards the truth that we’re here to enjoy the games we play. While graphics and stylish theatrics have their place in the realm of the gaming world, oftentimes we simply just want to turn on our Switch, sit down, and immerse ourselves. Heroland is a 2D RPG that takes place in a colorful theme park, where guests who visit can explore mysterious dungeons, beat up scary enemies, while you act as a tour guide for the entire experience. Anyone looking for a simple RPG formula, along with a love for the pixel-style design, Heroland is up your alley!

What to Expect

Heroland isn’t trying to win any awards by any means, nor is it trying to be intrinsically different. It’s merely a tried and true RPG that throws in a little extra dose of charm to ensure that players have a good lasting impression, and don’t walk away feeling unfulfilled. Another perk is that Heroland is directed by Takahiro Yamane, the brains behind Fantasy Life, written by Nobuyuki Inoue (MOTHER 3, Legend of Mana), and takes place in a colorful 2D world created by Nobuhiro Imagawa (MOTHER 3, Legend of Mana). The musical score was done by Tsukasa Masuko, who’s very well known for Shin Megami Tensei series, so what you’re receiving in Heroland is an all-star package of fun.
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Visuals

Straight off the bat you can immediately see that Heroland is colorful, vibrant, and the use of pixelated graphics helps everything stand out in an intriguing way. Sure, this isn’t the first RPG to do so, but Heroland makes great use of the Switch’s hardware to really create a world that’s fascinating to be a part of. You can clearly tell that this game takes a lot of inspiration from the classics such as MOTHER 3, especially with the way in which characters are animated, and how everything simply flows together. The character designs, while not necessarily the best in our opinion, do help to define the game and its theme quite well.

Sound, Music

Heroland scores high in the sound category in our books and rightfully so. The moment you jump into the whimsical world it really does feel like a theme park, full of thrills and excitement. The music compliments that entirely, especially when you’re in a full-fledged battle against monsters, and the up-tempo music kicks in to instill a feeling of heroism. The mixture of trumpets and drums along with charming sound effects really fit the theme of Elric and his spoiled, oftentimes over-the-top personality. Every character brings their own personality to the story and creates that added element of comedy, something you’ll tend to see a lot of in the dialogue while playing. When the battles get intense you immediately know because the music shifts to a much more ravenous tone, and that helps to create a sense of urgency when you’re battling.

Gameplay

Like any quintessential RPG, Heroland is very straightforward and focuses on leveling up your team to ensure that you’ll be able to tackle the stronger enemies down the road. Most of your time will be coming up with strategies to defeat what lies ahead, traversing through mines and encountering new enemies along the way. The UI in the game is also very fitting of the overall theme, as it tries to do away with complexity, and creates a very simple yet charming interface to utilize. Your MonDex is very useful since it keeps track of every enemy you’ve encountered, and that way you can formulate the right approach in order to overcome them. The battle system is quite interesting since you’re not necessarily in the battle, you’re more like the overseer of things. Yes, you’re certainly a part of what’s going on but unlike in other traditional 2D RPGs where you need to decide on actions for every character, the characters come to life on their own. Adding on to the battle mechanics of Heroland, chatting is another feature that allows you to take advantage of what’s known as Chat Skills, an ability that can be performed in 2 to 4 connected chats. So for example, if the conversations within the battle are smooth and concise, you’re likely to produce more damage than say, if there was a lul in the dialogue. The characters will chat about things like enemy weak points, along with your own weaknesses, and even more welcoming is that none of this requires any SP.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

While Heroland certainly feels unique in its own right with regards to gameplay and visuals, it’s a game that’s not going to be for everyone. One major reason is that while the retro 2D-style is still widely revered by plenty of old-school fans, it’s the new-school target that may shy away from this particular formula. The visuals, while striking in their own right, may once again turn off hardcore fans because it may come off as too “childish.” This is all merely personal preference and everyone will see things from a different perspective, but overall we think Heroland is quite fun for what it provides, despite its visual direction.

Honey's Pros:

  • Three brilliant minds who've worked on some of the industry's classics, have come together to create something special.
  • The 2D RPG style is always a nice little touch, in a world that's so demanding of visuals.
  • A charming story with great characters, music, and humor to compliment it all.

Honey's Cons:

  • The visual appeal may not be for everyone, especially those who are looking for a much more realistic experience.

Honey's Final Verdict:

We do hope you found our review of Heroland to be an insightful one, and that it helped you to better decide on your purchase. The game overall is enjoyable and due to its simple UI and gameplay mechanics, anyone can simply jump straight in and play. Be sure to check out our other reviews and stay up to date on all the latest game related news on our website!

“The Frigid Final Night with Several Surprises”

  • Event: TOUR 19 This Way to Self-Destruction
  • Date: Wednesday, November 20th, 2019
  • Location: Studio Coast, Shinkiba
[ad_top2 class="mt40"]

Intro: Heavy Metal, Yet Surprisingly Cute

Dir en Grey has managed to expand their fame and musical abilities while still maintaining much of what made them so appealing to their very first fans. While they may have toned down the elaborate makeup and giant costumes of their prime visual kei days, more subtle details pull the crowd in such has freaky contacts, blood-stained lips, and eerie eye makeup. Most of the visual theatrics are done by Kyo while the other members’ looks range from cool to comfortable. Die usually has a fan in front of him to continuously lift his long hair for dramatic effect. In comparison with other musical groups, it seems as if Kyo with his maniacal laughing and jerky movements is meant to keep your attention while the other members remain mostly fixed in place but they all contribute to the dark atmosphere one expects from a Dir en Grey show. On the very last night of the This Way to Self-Destruction tour, Studio Coast was filled with fans eagerly awaiting entry. Some had even been to the concert the previous night at this very venue but were lured back by rumors of a second encore. Despite the cold night, you could find many girls in short skirts or shorts, perhaps in fishnets, seemingly unbothered by the chill. The crowd was a mix of men and women, young adults mostly with a few older people in attendance. Most everyone was either wearing tour shirts or some punk/gothic attire. There was a pretty steady line for tour goods of tights, shirts, and even plates while others stood in groups waiting for their ticket group numbers to be called for entry. There were even little toy cars in the member’s colors.

Upon entering, fans were protected from the cold night air and had to pass the large bar outside of the room where the concert would be held. People rushed in to fill the floor space and tried to hold their ground against those coming in after. One could grab a beer from one of several vending machines inside the concert hall should they not want to wait for an actual drink. Bee-kun made use of the vending machines and then joined Honey-chan by the railing near the stairs to the pit. The only seats were on an upper floor that was reserved for fan club members so the rest of the audience had to tough it out. Without a sloped floor, those of smaller stature had a hard time seeing. Despite all the less than ideal circumstances, there was a buzz of excitement. As the members one by one took to the stage, the audience erupted into screams and applause.

Performance: Half Theater, Half Concert

As the light dimmed, images of a human embryo and a body in a lake appeared on the giant screen behind Dir en Grey. Shinya was first to take to the stage and Kyo the last, the usual order of progression. With Die on the right side and Toshiya and Kaoru on his left, Kyo took to the front middle of the stage on a small raised platform. Everyone was pushing to get as close as they could to the front. The first song was World of Mercy, a calmer and more melodious song and Kyo sang as if he was putting a spell on the crowd. With a message of being fed up with a ‘peaceful’ world rampant with cruelty and bullying, it’s likely most everyone there could relate. The PV played on screen, showing masked children hurting each other and venus fly traps opening and closing. Kyo jerked his body as he sang while the rest of the band stayed pretty motionless. The audience raised their arms and moved slightly with the beat but for the most part, were rather still themselves for the first half. Once it picked up in intensity in the second half, cramped as they were, everyone shook and jumped as Kyo let loose his powerful screams. As the song ends, Kyo appears to bite his wrist open and suck out his blood, his snarls and laughter echoing out. Blood appears on the screen behind him somewhat obscuring the previous images. Mouth tinged with red, Kyo falls to his knees. Ningen wo Kaburu is next and Kyo gets up and yells at the crowd who screams back enthusiastically. As Kyo roars, the crowd flails madly in time with the song. Some of the lyrics appeared on scream and the crowd sang or yelled along. By the third song, Die, Toshiya, and Kaoru started walking around the stage as they played, sometimes switching sides and getting close to the edge to get the audience even more excited. The first few echoing notes of Merciless Cult caused a knowing, excited yell from the crowd. Kyo motioned for the audience to sing as lyrics came up on the screen behind him during the more melodious parts. Later on, Zetsuentai had everyone jumping and headbanging. Kyo’s incredible range of low growls, piercing screams, and thunderous yelling kept the energy going as red lights flashed intensely. Kyo jerked his body around violently as images of a frightening masked man who looked like his neck might snap from convulsions played behind him. While short, it was definitely impactful. Values of Madness shares the message of wanting to die with several other Dir en Grey songs but instead of a tortured and somber vibe, there is just anger. Anger is easier to deal with than sadness and much easier to get into in a public setting and the crowd was all too happy to sing and headbang along. It was a great release of yelling and jumping, fighting against every other person there for space, an experience that became personal for the audience instead of just witnessing Kyo perform.

Keigaku no Yoku right after was like being on a roller coaster. The slow parts had everyone barely moving, fingers barely strumming, slow and precise drumbeats as Kyo’s melodic voice played out sometimes loud and sometimes just above a whisper. Once the chorus hit, everyone came alive. Die’s head whipped around, Toshiya screamed back up vocals, and Kaoru let his fingers fly. Shinya pounded swiftly and Kyo leaned over with his head almost touching his knee and screamed rapidly. As if nothing happened, they all return to their original positions and gentle playing/singing when it came around to the slow melody again. Going right back into the frantic screaming, strumming, and drumming, they again unleashed an auditory torrent on the audience. Kyo dropped to his knees and leaned far back as he unleashed the final note of the song. Once Dir en Grey left the stage for the first time that night, the crowd wasted no time demanding an encore. In the same order as before, they came back slightly dressed down from the previous suits and nicer shirts. Kyo now had on strange clown-like makeup that gave him an unsettling appearance. They chose Fukai 2018 Ver. for the first song and immediately got everyone rocking. For what should have been the last song, they played Utafumi and this was where the other members really came alive. Toshiya and Die lifted their bass and guitars in the air while playing and moved around the stage a lot. Shinya drummed away for his special moment towards the end. While Kyo immediately left the stage, the others stayed to throw out drumsticks, towels, water bottles, and pics into the crowd. People were desperate to catch an item from their favorite member and some minor squabbles broke out but thankfully, nothing too serious. After stepping off the stage, a video showing a dry, deserted landscape started up and it was revealed to be a promo for a new tour, The Insulated World Final Tour. Fans were ecstatic that this would not quite be the end but they were in for another surprise.

[balloon_speech align="left" text="That was amazing!! I can barely talk but, wow, that was worth it!" image="bee-wink"] [balloon_speech align="right" text="Wait a minute… I don’t think they’re done!" image="honey-annoyed"]

Outro: The Final (Final)

As the rumors predicted, there was to be a second encore. Loud applause accompanied the members to the stage but Kyo’s appearance shocked the crowd. Not for blood or dramatic makeup, but for a liberal use of denim. Donning a light blue denim jacket and jeans, it was quite a departure from his sharp suit he had worn during the show and even the more comfortable outfit he had chosen for the first finale. The atmosphere was much more relaxed this time around. The lights remained on and they started playing Sustain the Untruth. Kyo made use of much of the stage as he moved from the middle, left, and right casually. At one point, Kaoru and Kyo were standing back to back and Kaoru pushed back on Kyo so hard he almost fell over, prompting a big smile and laugh from Kyo. This was much like seeing a unicorn in a wasteland as Kyo is normally such a serious, macabre performer and doesn’t usually play off the other members. In a dramatic and destructive move, Kyo drops the mic when the song ends as if to say ‘this is really it, guys’. Instead of disappearing first as he had every time before this, Kyo stayed after to provide the audience with his chosen items. He took some time to fill his mouth with water before spitting over the tired, hot crowd who were all too eager for it. Kyo even laughed at a couple of particularly exuberant fans trying desperately to be in the spray. He threw his empty water bottle and a towel and took in the adoration and cheers of the crowd before he and the other members exited the stage. Kyo certainly has a penchant for theatrics and flair, and the relaxed, friendly behavior he exhibited was in sharp contrast to his stage presence earlier. During Aka, Kyo’s voice soared above the crowd, pained cries of a person with no hope left. Matching the heavy lyrics of the song, Kyo used his mic cord to fashion a noose which he held up several times as if contemplating the finality of it. Guitar riffs threatened to cover up the nearly mumbled verses as if Kyo was in his own world rather than performing for a huge audience. In this way, he continued to draw people in as if they were watching an intimate moment rather than attending a concert. By the end, Kyo had placed his mic cord noose around his neck and fell to his knees, his arm stretched above him holding the cord taught. They were certainly able to do a lot with minimal props, and the mic cord was quite a versatile piece. The red cord was not only a noose but played the part of Kyo’s innards during World of Mercy. Kyo grabbed and wrapped up the cord in a loose ball and held it near his stomach. He then began slowly and shakily pulling it out in front of him, the cord unwrapping and tugging on itself as if it were intestines being unraveled. Kyo’s accompanying screams of pain with the light glistening off the red bundle made for quite an appropriately disturbing sight. With the combined body heat and excitement over the last two hours, the audience barely felt the cold as they left the venue.

Mech Combat Returns Proper!
  • System: PC (Epic Store)
  • Publisher: Piranha Games
  • Developer: Piranha Games
  • Release Date: December 10, 2019

Who it Caters to

In the year 2019 we still lack powerful robots we can pilot and are still bound mostly to Earth. Thankfully, the MechWarrior franchise has always allowed us to be the robotic pilots we dreamed of being and gave us the tools to unleash mass destruction on giant metal machines! For a while, MechWarrior was silent in the gaming world but Piranha Games changed that with this newest title, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. You can bet we here at Honey’s Anime played a significant amount of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and are amped to tell you our thoughts in a full review! Scroll down below to see if this latest MechWarrior entry does the series justice after a somewhat long hiatus or if it fails to deliver the metal on metal action we crave!

What to Expect

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a Mech simulation title with a focus on story gameplay versus PVP or PVE, though those elements do exist. Players don the legendary BattleMechs which allow them to harness large metal giants capable of leveling battlefields. Play alone in a deep story that takes place in the year 3015 or play with friends in a cooperative setting! Arm you BattleMech with powerful weapons like missiles, lasers, and cannons! Customize your BattleMech with hundreds of items/armaments to create a truly unique BattleMech that caters to your play style! Jump into the cockpit and unleash hell soldier in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries!
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

The Mason family has finally become closer as the son has started his training as a Mech pilot. However, things go astray when an ambush on the training field occurs leading the father to defend his son’s escape. A rogue group of warriors seeks information and now it’s up to the youngest Mason to avenge his father and learn the truth! Enter the cockpit of a powerful BattleMech suit and be ready to level your enemies! Can you prove you have the skills needed to survive this sudden war in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries!

Gameplay

If you’re new to the MechWarrior series then don’t worry we’ll make this painless. MechWarrior originally released back in the late 80s—known as BattleTech initially—and has since been the better example of how to fuse a simulation experience with a mech themed game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries stays close to its routes from the past by focusing less on multiplayer action and a deep/engrossing story experience. However, what has remained the same is the deep combat and we can tell you now… MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries hits all the notes needed for a great game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries first and foremost is a first/third person mech game where you control a giant mech suit called a BattleMech. These behemoths allow you to unleash hails of bullets, missiles and lasers on whatever threat you feel stands before you! You’ll need to be careful though as you typically aren’t the only pilot with a giant BattleMech on the battlefield and enemies will test your reflexes and motions. What sets MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries apart from most like it is the focus on moving your mech as if it were a tank and robot put together. There are several buttons dictated to moving both your legs and torso in unison to best navigate the various terrain you’re in. That’s why MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has a simulation tag on it, this isn’t a game where you move with a controller and have limited range. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will push your coordination especially when the battle begins. Whether you’re in the cockpit view or looking from a locked on drone hovering over your BattleMech, the combat stays the same in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. You’ll need to target enemies in various locations for best results. Hitting enemy legs might be tough but damaged legs means weaker movements allow you to lay waste to their bodies without much trouble. Equally, quick damage to the cockpit can end a battle before it starts but the cockpit is highly reinforced and usually if the enemy is moving it can be a hard to hit target. You’ll need to quickly learn where your strength lies against an enemy BattleMech as mechs differ in numerous ways and while skinny/short mechs might be easily destroyed if they take too much damage, try hitting them with a larger suit.
Like past MechWarrior titles, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries has a ton of options to customize your mech into the machine you need for a given situation. Players can unlock numerous mech parts aside from just weapons. Legs can truly change how you maneuver around a battle just like what type of body you choose from. Weapon matter as well as they can win/lose a battle for you in the blink of an eye. You might want to outfit your BattleMech with tons of explosive weapons but you need to be weary of how much they consume a mech’s heating as you might end up being a beefy BattleMech with weapons that miss more often than hit and run you into a quick overheat. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries lets you play with your creations to truly learn what will work best for you and while it might seem overly complicated in practice, it’s something anyone can pick up quickly. Visually and audio wise, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries looks and sounds pretty impressive. The mechs themselves look extremely well detailed and some of the environments are truly epic. Occasionally, some battlefields look a bit bland or under developed but you’ll never focus on that unless you love to nitpick games to every last pebble. In terms of sound, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is pretty great. The OST in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is just right for each skirmish. The voice acting for the majority of the story is also pretty solid though a few weaker voices here and there remind you to not take this story too seriously. Overall though, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries sounds and looks incredible and that was a fear for us since it’s been a while for this incredible franchise. Lastly, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries isn’t just a single player experience. There’s also a four player co-op experience that allows players to team up with friends/strangers. We didn’t get too into the co-op gameplay unfortunately but from what we’ve seen, it seems to run quite well and offers a nice means of changing the game up as you coordinate with allies to attack mechs that might be too much for you to overcome alone. If we notice any problems with co-op when the main game releases to the public we’ll update this review to tell you readers!
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries might not have made a single player focused title for nearly two decades but we can’t even tell. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries plays extremely well and stays interesting throughout giving players a sense of worth in this strange alien world. Not only can you enjoy a pretty open ended tale but you can customize your mech to truly feel as if you’re the pilot and this is your machine of destruction! Where MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries falls apart a bit is the environments themselves tend to be a little generic and don’t look as great as the BattlMechs themselves. Thankfully, you’re usually too focused on trying to evade swarms of missiles and projectiles to ever notice a bland looking mountain or building looming in the distance. Clearly, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries isn’t trying to be the best looking mech game ever but instead focus on action and storytelling! In the end, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is an extremely well developed simulation title that we find little reason not to recommend to fans or newcomers alike!

Honey's Pros:

  • Simulation combat feels more explosive than ever with total control over movement and weapons from your BattleMech
  • Interesting Sci-Fi story that keeps the plot moving and keeps you invested
  • Enjoyable and exciting combat makes every skirmish feel impactful
  • Great sound design with solid OST tunes, voice acting and sound effects
  • Deep customization allowing you to build the mech you want and dream of
  • Co-op play allows friends to join you in the mayhem

Honey's Cons:

  • Story can be a bit cliché here and there
  • Don’t expect the environments to blow you in terms of visuals

Honey's Final Verdict:

The MechWarrior franchise is a series we grew up with since its original release back in 1988 when it was still known as BattleTech. Most series falter and MechWarrior had its share of missteps here and there but with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, those mistakes have been corrected to create a truly impressive mech simulator! Whether you’re a fan of the series or wish you were a mech pilot like us—maybe one day we hope—you’ll no doubt want to pick up MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries to play either alone or with friends! Are you going to suit up and be the next BattleMech pilot in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries? Comment below to let us know and be sure to keep hanging around Honey’s Anime for even more game reviews/articles!

Shibata Genzou is a pro-wrestler who really loves animals. He wrestles as his alter-ego, “Animal Mask”, where he embodies the persona of a tiger. During the world title-deciding match against his arch-rival, the Macadamian Ogre, Genzou is suddenly transported to a fantasy world by a princess. Her kingdom is being overrun by animalistic monsters and she requests his assistance in terminating them, but given his love for animals, he storms out of the castle and into the world! He decides to start his career as a beast hunter in order to capture and befriend animals everywhere. He is joined by the wolf-girl Shigure, dragon-girl Hanako and the vampire Carmilla Vanstein in his dangerous quest to become a pet shop owner. Honzuki no Gekokujou and Hataage! Kemono Michi both have a hero that is very unique compared to the isekai protagonist were used too. Some of the quirky similarities include the mystery surrounding the main characters’ being transported to their new worlds - both Maine and Genzou seem less interested in how they got there and more into becoming something different in their respective universes. Both protagonists also have things that they like to the point of obsession - Genzou loves animals and Maine loves books!

Isekai Shokudou is about a restaurant on a quiet alley in Tokyo where its patrons consider the food out of this world. Nekoya’s customers will wait an entire week just to sit down and have a taste of the enigmatic chef’s cooking. An unexplained phenomenon linking the front door of the restaurant in Tokyo to a magical realm connects Nekoya with a clientele you won’t even see in Akihabara on a Saturday night. The chef is simply referred to as Master; in this tiny culinary paradise he wields his ladle like a wand creating dishes for dragons, elves, mages, and adventurers. Isekai Shokudou gives us a peek at this master at work and how his food lets even mythological enemies set their differences aside - if only for the length of a meal. Western Restaurant Nekoya is a popular eatery located on a street corner in Tokyo. The establishment serves both traditional Japanese and Western cuisine and seems like your normal restaurant. It is thought to be closed on Saturdays, but what is happening behind the scenes is that the doors open to a different kind of clientele – the inhabitants of other worlds. From dragons to mages and elves, Nekoya has its fair share of otherworldly customers all eagerly waiting to be served by Master, the enigmatic but enthusiastic chef. As made obvious in the title, Isekai Shokudou is an Isekai title, which gives us the first similarity to Honzuki no Gekokujou. The other major similarity lies in the fact that both titles have slice of life elements, focusing on the mundane aspects of the characters’ lives. The focus on Maine in her new environment parallels Master’s everyday experiences cooking meals for the otherworldly. While Honzuki no Gekokujou has a character sent to another world, Isekai Shokudou has the otherworldly coming to our world. A dissimilar element between Honzuki no Gekokujou and Isekai Shokudou are in Isekai Shokudou the events occur within the confines of a restaurant.

Eden Hall is a bar tucked away in the backstreets of Ginza. It is run by Sasakura Ryuu, a prolific bartender said to be the mixer of some of the most incredible cocktails one has ever had. The thing about Eden Hall is that it isn’t a place that the average person can find and the average clientele includes customers of various backgrounds with their own stories. Regardless of their situation, Ryuu knows just the perfect cocktail for each troubled person who finds their way into the bar. Bartender is quite different from the other shows on this list for various reasons. The key thing that it does similarly to Honzuki no Gekokujou lies in the fact that it has heavy slice of life elements and focuses on the characters' love for one particular thing. Bartender’s emphasis on the enjoyment of alcohol of various types can be likened to Maine’s obsession with literature of different kinds.

We think that being a prodigy means having it easy; you’re smart, talented, and you excel in whatever you do. But would that talent help you succeed in a world where the modern conveniences and societal rules you’ve built your life on don’t exist? A group of seven of these modern-day prodigies soon find out that answer when Seven Japanese high schoolers are well-known all over the world for being exceptionally talented. One fateful day, they survive a plane crash only to find themselves in the medieval fantasy world of Freyjagard. The , where society they find themselves in is split into the byuma, who have animal features; and the hyuma, who possess the potential to manipulate magic. After they’re rescued by Winona and her adopted daughter Riruru, the seven geniuses decide to use their skills to return the favor to the people of Elm Village as thanks for their hospitality and for saving their lives as they search for a way back home. However, it seems like there is more brewing underfoot than the group is aware of as an ancient legend about seven heroes coming from another world to defeat an evil dragon. The group decide to change their new world, but slowly and steadily. Honzuki no Gekokujou and CHOYUYU’s greatest similarity lies in the fact that both sets of main characters find themselves abruptly placed in an alternate reality and they are forced to learn more about the world around them. Both shows also have a thing with geniuses – the high school prodigies are perhaps a highly exaggerated version of the intelligence and grit shown by Maine in Honzuki no Gekokujou.

A hidden doorway discovered by the Japanese government leads to another world and the adventure of a lifetime for a shut-in otaku named Kanou Shinich. In a bid to woo the people of the Eldant Empire into peaceful and dependent relations, the Japanese government decides to expose them to the most addictive aspects of Japanese culture they can think of: anime, manga, and games. Kanou Shinich, the product of otaku inbreeding, is chosen to be the government’s representative to the court of Princess Petralka. The job of otaku evangelist is a dream job, and not just because it comes with a cute half-elf maid, but because it gives him a chance at using the medium he loves to change a world. Kanou Shinichi is a shut-in Otaku with a lot of knowledge regarding anime, manga, and games. He applies for a job to change his life; however, he is quickly whisked away to the Eldant Empire, a fantasy world complete with elves and dragons! His job in this strange land is to spread Japanese otaku culture far and wide, effectively becoming an otaku missionary. With the support of the Japanese government, Princess Petralka of the Eldant Empire and the half-elf maid Myucel, Shinichi brings the way of the otaku to the fantasy world. The world of Honzuki no Gekokujou has very high levels of inequality in society, and as a result, Maine is unable to find books as easily as she would in our world. Maine's adjustments as a girl raised in modern Japan to the medieval world where she now lives are akin to Shinichi’s culture shock of living in a new world as an otaku ambassador of culture to the fantasy world in which he now finds himself.

Final Thoughts

Fans of isekai and who have a love of books will find those two interests brought together in the form of Honzuki no Gekokujou. With its bright colors and pockets of adorableness sprinkled throughout, it is a very pleasant slice of life. Genzou Shibata has worked his whole life to perfect his body and mind in order to take the ring as the professional wrestler known as Animal Mask. The chance to win the title of World Champion is within Genzou's grasp, with only his arch enemy Macadamian Ogre standing in his way. In the middle of their match, Genzou is transported to a mysterious world. There he meets the princess who summoned him to the world and wishes for him to save her and her kingdom. With his chiseled body and love for animals, Genzou decides to help out the kingdom by becoming a beast hunter and befriending all of the strange new monsters he encounters. On the surface, these series seem to only share some minor traits like the characters being summoned to become heroes and an abundance of characters with animal ears, however, their similarities run much deeper than that. Unlike the characters in most other isekai anime, Genzou along with all of the main characters in CHOYOYU! don't gain any new special powers when they arrive in their new worlds. Instead, they use the powers they perfected in their own worlds to help save the people in the new world. This set up makes the characters' journeys fairly similar to each other and helps you get invested into both stories. Both series also have a similar balance with the comedy and the serious aspects of the story giving you very similar viewing experiences.

For the last fifteen years, Infinity Game has been one of the most played MMORPGs around. Now, its creator, Akira Onno, has decided to shut the game's servers down. On the night of the final day, Akira is dragged into the game world and ends up in the body of Hakuto Kunai, the Demon Lord of Infinity Game. Hakuto quickly encounters the demon Greole catching a little girl named Aku, giving Hakuto a prime opportunity to test out his powers. After defeating Greole without breaking a sweat, Haluto and Aku set out to explore the world. Most of the similarities in these two series come from the way the characters interact with their new world. Not satisfied with the way things are, Hakuto and Tsukasa's group set out to change the world by using their unique skill set to implement different things to better the lives of the other people living in the world. Tsukasa and the other prodigies use their understanding of their world to improve every aspect of the lives of Elm Village from their food to their economic standing. While Hakuto is able to use his powers and standing as the Demon Lord to accomplish tasks for his friends that they wouldn’t be able to accomplish otherwise. It is exciting to see how both series show them doing this and how Hakuto's methods are different thanks to standing in the world. On top of this, both series do an amazing job at combining these moments along with the comedy and action to give you some deep and interesting stories.

Middle-aged programmer Ichirou Suzuki spends all of his time working on two of the most popular MMORPG's in the world. Exhausted from his endless work, Ichirou finally finds an opportunity to get some rest, but things take a strange turn when he awakens from his nap to find himself in a strange new world. Fortunately, the world resembles one of the games Ichirou had been working on. Once arriving in the world, Ichirou's name is changed to Satou Pendragon, the same name he had used to beta test the game. During his first moments in the world, Satou is attacked by an army of lizardmen and after defeating them, Satou raises himself to the highest level possible. Having obtained seemingly endless power, Satou sets out to see just what this new world has to offer him. What makes these two anime similar are the adventures the characters go on and how they react to everything going on around them. Tsukasa and the other prodigies face serious situations In Elm Village dealing with their poverty and help them rise to become a political power. Satou faces many challenges of his own whenever he encounters a new traveling companion. In both series watch as they use their power and wit to overcome every obstacle they face. With the characters all being overpowered in their world, you already know the outcome of all of their battles and the problems they face. However, it is still fun to watch as they take each challenge head-on with their full power. The series share some minor similarities like the visuals and beautiful set pieces along with some exciting-looking action sequences.

    Highschool DxD Preview (No Spoilers)

After almost meeting his untimely end just after finally getting a girlfriend, Hyoudou Issei is given a second chance at life by the great Rias Gremory, his senpai, and a devil. Instead of turning away from his perverse lifestyle, Issei becomes a demon servant of Rias along with supernatural schoolmates Akeno, Koneko, Asia, and others and helps to fight off threats of peace on Earth and in Hell. After realizing his perversion can boost his powers, nothing can stop him!

Himejima Akeno Highlights (Spoilers Beyond This Point)

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="ZMBZ-7673" text="" url="" ]

    1. She Has a Banging Body

While all girls in High School DxD are good looking, Akeno still manages to stand out with other-worldly beauty. With her long, beautiful hair, big eyes, and voluptuous figure, we find it hard to tear our eyes away! Her boobs are even a bit bigger than Rias’ impressive chest and Akeno sure doesn’t like to keep them covered where Issei is concerned! She not only has a seductive body but knows how to move and talk in a way to make your knees weak.

    2. Confident and Competent

They say confidence is sexy and Akeno is no exception. Confident in both her body and battling, she won’t hesitate to make her opponent surrender. Akeno often shows off her crazy desirable body and sometimes teases other girls as she likes to see them get so flustered. Beyond just knowing she’s hot, she’s very proud of her fighting abilities as she should be. She can hold her own against Rias and is a valuable member of the team who doesn’t shy away from battle. Despite her natural inclination to be provocative, she’s always great at acting like a reserved, ideal woman with grace and competence in everything she attempts. We’re pretty sure she could do anything she sets her mind to!

    3. Dark Past, Bright Future

You wouldn’t know Akeno has dealt with a horrible childhood by the way she acts. With her parents being a Fallen Angel and a Shinto priestess, Akeno didn’t have a place she belonged. Persecuted by the Himejimas because of her Fallen Angel Blood, Akeno tried to make it on her own as a 10-year-old girl exorcising spirits to make a living. The Himejimas eventually came after Akeno to kill her but she was saved by Rias. Despite Rias being her ‘master’, Akeno has a very healthy relationship with her and the other servants. She knows her place and loves fiercely while still being true to herself. She also never lost her compassionate heart.

    4. She Swings Both Ways

Akeno is the true team-player. Not only is she absolutely ok with and even happy to share Issei with the girls she loves, she likes to play with them a little too! It doesn’t seem to matter what gender you are, Akeno will treat you like a cat playing with a mouse. Akeno’s fondness for Rias seems to only be matched by her penchant for flustering Rias as when they were taking a bath together and Akeno decides to fondle Rias’ boobs. She certainly knows how to get a reaction out of whoever she’s with!

    5. This Scene in High School DxD Hero Episode 9

One scene, in particular, seems to catch all the highlights of Akeno: her amazing body, the natural way she tackles difficulty, her positivity, her ease at being around naked girls and guys, and that loving nature of hers so often masked with teasing. While instigating an onslaught of boobies with the combined efforts of Koneko and Asia, Akeno has everyone strip and start healing Issei. Issei is suffering physically and emotionally and Akeno wants everyone to help make him feel better. She brings up that Issei has been looking scared when she or others get aggressively sexual with him despite him being a huge pervert very matter-of-factly but still in a calming manner. She responds to those worries and works to alleviate them with the help of their friends instead of trying to one-up the others and comfort him herself. Akeno expertly makes herself more reserved and gentle while still maintaining the flirty demeanor she’s known for so as not to make Issei self-conscious. Some girls might balk at being refused sexually but Akeno manages to make Issei feel desirable, assuage his worries, and remind him he’s loved in the gentlest manner possible.

    Final Thoughts

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="ZMBZ-7675" text="" url="" ]

Himejima Akeno may be alright with being a side-chick but she is honestly top-tier. Her grace, kindness, loyalty, battle-expertise and her ability to rise above hardship make her an incredible person. Add in her killer looks and she’d be the perfect girlfriend for dang near anyone. She’s also not the type of person to forsake her friends over a dude which means if you win her favor, she’s with you through anything even battles of life and death! Who it Caters to

Folks, the conclusion to Life is Strange 2 has finally released in the fifth and final episode. Once more you will be seeing into the tale of the Diaz brothers as they make their way to their father’s homeland but endure one final challenge that will test them unlike ever before. Every single choice you’ve made will alter these brothers’ fate and depending on your big choices in this final installment, the Diaz brothers might find peace or tragedy. If you haven’t already, be sure to read our previous episode reviews—we did each episode—before continuing onwards. For those who are prepared, enter our review of Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 and see what our thoughts are for this highly anticipated conclusion!

    What to Expect

Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 acts as the conclusion to the series once more putting players into the role of Sean Diaz. Sean and Daniel have finally reached the final stretch of their long journey to Puerto Lobos but that doesn’t mean the challenges ahead will be any easier. Together, these brothers have endured never ending challenges and will need to rely on their past actions to alter their future. Choose wisely in this final episode readers. The Wolf Brothers journey will wrap up here…but how it ends is up to you.
    [ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

    Story

Sean and Daniel Diaz have joined their mother in a place unmarked on any map. Despite their constant struggle, the brothers remain together but their wills have been put through the ring. With the law right behind them, Sean will need to make the proper choices to ensure him and Daniel escape to some form of freedom. However, every choice and action up till now has led both of the brothers to become very different than how they started this tale. The Wolf Brothers journey ends now and how that end comes to light will be based on the actions up to this very dramatic conclusion…

    Gameplay

At this point we hope you readers don’t need us to explain how Life is Strange 2 works. In case you do though—please play the first episode if you decided to start at the end—here’s what you can expect from the series. Players control Sean Diaz whose brother is armed with an unknown power that causes their lives to change after an incident befalls them—and their father—in Seattle. The last several games have charged players to make choices to survive and shape the so-called Wolf Brothers tale down specific roads. Every choice you made and every major action you took—which was shown by having split image decision at certain points of the game—have led to this last entry in Life is Strange 2. We will be avoiding major spoilers for the story as a whole but you can expect some minor ones if you continue reading below. In our last episode, Sean and Daniel’s mother—Karen—has rescued the duo from a strange cult. Now, the Wolf Brothers are on the move again but have been allowed some rest in a place secluded from the world. That unfortunately doesn’t mean the brothers can rest just yet. Their main goal to reach Puerto Lobos still hasn’t changed but the brothers have indeed undergone some major changes as human beings.
What sets apart the fifth episode from the rest is that this episode is focused more on narrative than exploration like the past entries. This might turn off some of the fans of the series—exploration is still here but its minimal—but in our minds, this helps the conclusion have a true ending feel. Rather than walk around aimlessly doing side missions or exploring various items/characters, our last chapter has only two major locations with any form of exploration and the rest are quite linear. The choices made in these sections though truly affect how the ending wraps up and you’ll see your decisions have that gravity when the ending scenes come forth. Speaking of endings/decisions, this is where Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 shines above the rest of the series. These last few choices in the Life is Strange 2 have some truly big consequences that change the conclusion in more than one way. For example, deciding to attack a group of cops or surrendering can make the Diaz brothers either go into a truly impossible situation or a realistic one. How you embrace your mother—or don’t—can also affect the ending and that will also affect you in a more personal sense. The biggest take away from this final episode is how you decided—as a person—to make choices in the series. Did you look out only for yourself—meaning Sean—or did you become the super brother you needed to be for the youngest Wolf Brother? Did you forgive those who wronged you—in this case Sean/Daniel’s mom—or did you scorn the world for how they treated you in this dire situation? These choices have always had gravity in the tale of Life is Strange 2 but not just on the game. Ironically, if you were invested in this series as much as we were, you probably question your own thoughts with how you go about handling difficult situations or rising to the challenges of being a brother/sister to your sibling. Life is Strange 2 might be a fictional tale with supernatural elements but the choices and story within could be felt in the real world in a multitude of ways.
    [ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

    Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 nearly had us in tears as we wrapped the game up. We could see how our past actions truly altered the fate of Sean and Daniel Diaz and in many ways, we wanted to go back to see what else we could do to shape their ending just a bit differently. With the endings we got—we did replay the very last segment twice—our hearts are heavy but not in the way we expected. We want to spoil the ending so bad to Life is Strange 2 but to do so would be an injustice to this incredible journey. Trust us readers, this is an ending that is on par with the original game without a doubt. Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 will put your choices to the ultimate test and in many ways…that is where this series goes above most like it.

    Honey's Pros:

    • The conclusion to this tale—the several of them—are truly some of the best endings we’ve seen in a game to date
    • Several big choices to be made here folks, all of which will make the ending that much more different
    • Impressive voice acting with some truly emotional scenes thanks to it
    • A very surprising cameo thanks to an unexpected character from the first Life is Strange

    Honey's Cons:

    • Don’t expect much to do in this final episode
    • Could have used a bit more for one of the several endings

    Honey's Final Verdict:

There aren’t too many games out there in the digital sea that truly hit us as hard as Life is Strange 2. This fifth and final episode wasn’t incredibly long or had as many choices/decisions as the previous four episodes but the few here really alter the journey in some huge ways. The drama to be found in this fifth episode was on point with the series and ultimately created an ending we won’t forget about anytime soon. Life is Strange 2 is done and we truly wish there was more of it…that’s how much we loved this series. Are you now excited to see how the Diaz brothers’ tale ends in Life is Strange 2? Comment down below to let us know what you thought of this fifth episode, and of the series as a whole! For even more game reviews don’t leave our amazing hive here at Honey’s Anime!

Top 10 Coolest Fairies in Fairy Gone

In the land of Eastald, Fairies are usually invisible to people. However, from time to time, they possess animals to coexist with the world. Some human scientists discovered that if they took an organ from a fairy possessed-animal and transplanted it to a human being, then the human would gain the power to summon the fairy and control it to do their will. Of course, it wasn't long before this discovery was used for war and fairy soldiers were sent to the battlefront. Now, the fairies of Eastald are not your traditional fairies. Some have vaguely human shapes because they have two legs and two arms, but that's where the similarity usually ends. And their powers range from the surprisingly useful to the terrifyingly deadly. So, today we're going to list the ten coolest fairies that we've seen in Fairy Gone so far. As always, a warning: As some of the fairies appear later in the series, there will be some spoilers in the article below.

    Spoilers Ahead

    [ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

    10. Jenny Haniver

Based on the name given to the fake fairy skeletons that were made out of mummified ray remains, Jenny Haniver looks quite monstrous as the mix of a humanoid creature and a fish. Its skin is brown and it has two small bat wings on its back that do allow it to fly, but not very fast. It has two main abilities: Itt can store and hide weapons inside its body even when hidden within its handler's own body. This makes Jenny Haniver a virtual bag of holding, as there seems to be no limit to the weapons or even bodies it can hold. The other ability is to inflate its body like a balloon and throw everything it holds like a bomb. Jenny Haniver is the fairy companion of Jonathan Passpierre. We never find out if he was a past soldier or got it on the black market, but it’s obvious he knows well how to use all of the fairy’s powers to his advantage and in the quest of his insane art that usually consists on killing humans.

    9. Skriker

Skriker looks like a mixture of an orangutan and some sort of insect. It has no wings, thus can’t fly, and while it’s quite strong and agile, its true power makes it a very bad idea to try to attack it or it’s partner, “Sweetie” Bitter Sweet. This is because anyone in the area who tries to hurt Skriker or Bitter Sweet will have the damage they did to either reflected back. This doesn't mean that Skriker doesn't get damaged, or that Sweetie doesn't feel the pain that comes with her connection to the fairy, but it means that whatever you try could knock you down faster. Skriker can be compared to a nightmare given its looks, and usually comes out when Bitter Sweet wants to force a standstill. Whenever Skriker is out, she will try to walk away because she knows her enemies rarely want to risk being harmed too. This has made them both quite useful to the mob family Sweetie works for.

    8. Blind Tail

If someone is afraid of snakes, Blind Tail is not the fairy for them. While it has legs, most of the times it manifests, it coils around its partner, the Dorothea sniper Serge Torva, making itself look, well, like a snake about to devour its prey. Not that Serge is in any danger—in fact, it’s possible to believe that Blind Tail’s harder skin may protect him better than any armor—but the optics can be quite shocking at first sight. Once Blind Tail is safely curled around Serge, it can open its mouth to shoot energy beams at their enemies. These shots go quite the distance, which is why Serge is rarely in the middle of the action as he is watching from the sidelines. Blind Tail is a perfect example of how not all fairies are good without a partner since we're not even sure it can move easily on its own: Its legs look too fragile to sustain its body and as its name indicates, Blind Tail is completely blind. It depends completely on Serge to be its eyes, and thus, they're also a good example of the symbiosis between humans and fairies.

    7. Boneless

Boneless looks like a human-like creature with two huge arms as long as its body and almost as thick. That alone can give the impression that its power is its strength, which would be a grave mistake. Yes, Boneless’s punches can break walls, but the real danger when facing this fairy and its partner, assassin Patricia Pearl, is that Boneless can turn parts of its body into a jelly-like substance that not only can completely cover the space where you’re fighting it, but also envelop you and then harden, suffocating you within its body. Boneless is quite interesting because, to use its powers to their maximum effect, Patricia usually needs to lure her targets into small, close quarters. After all, if there’s a lot of open room, Boneless can’t easily cover that much ground. Still, one look at it and you will be a bit wary of small dark rooms for a while.

    6. Tomereez

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="imdb" url="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9828600/mediaviewer/rm186541568" ]

Tomereez is one of the cutest fairies we see in Fairy Gone, even if it's quite weird too. It looks like a wide-eyed frog with a flower-like necklace and tiny wings. It is quite weak, so don't expect to see it in active battle, but it is also one of Dorothea's most useful fairies, together with its partner, Klara Kysenaria. Tomereez's eyes connect them, so no matter how far they are from each other, as long as she can concentrate, Klara can see and hear everything that Tomereez can. This makes them a perfect pair to partner up with Serge and Blind Tail, as together they make a fearsome sniper team. Another excellent use of Tomereez's abilities is during infiltration missions, as its small size allows it to hide from most guards. But the most useful ability this little frog has is that it can also turn its eyes to thermal vision, which not only helps to uncover hidden targets but also to find out if an enemy has a fairy or not.

    [ad_middle class="mb40"]

    5. Red Hood

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="THCA-60244" text="" url="" ]

Red Hood is a huge four-eyed werewolf, whose name refers to the Red Riding Hood fairy tale. He is quite strong and has a powerful howl that creates a sound wave that can move boulders and other objects out of the way. The only real problem is that he is so big and so destructive that, for certain missions, it’s better if Free doesn’t let Red Hood out in a fight unless his life is in immediate danger. Free and Red Hood work very well together, and so it’s impressive whenever Free lets his fairy partner out to fight with all his might. Red Hood seems to respect Free a lot, even though in a flashback we see that their first meeting right before the transplant wasn’t exactly friendly. Red Hood had originally possessed a wolf, hence his current form, and growled and almost bit Free before the surgery. The fact that nine years later they’re one of the best fairy/human teams shows how much they have grown.

    4. Fitcher

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="imdb" url="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9828600/mediaviewer/rm18769408" ]

Visually, Fitcher is one of the most unique Fairies in Eastald: He looks like a human skeleton with a tail, bird wings and skull, and six arms, each ending in a different kind of blade. Just like his human partner, Wolfran, Fitcher is deadly and fast. Once he’s set on a target, it’s highly unlikely that said target will survive. Despite not having any skin, Fitcher can use his wings to fly, and as he also uses each of his blades perfectly to slice his victims left and right, which makes him a one-creature army. Unfortunately, Wolfran appears very little in the series, which means we don’t get to see him or Fitcher often. This is a pity, as they are two of the most intriguing character in the series, so we can just hope that they appear more often in the second season.

    3. Aizencup

If you think Red Hood is impressive, it's because you haven't encountered Aizencup, who is triple the size of Red Hood and has three heads instead of just one. This Fairy is so terrifying that he can easily destroy armies by itself as soon as his human partner, the mercenary Beevee Liscar, frees him. It's no surprise to find out that during the war, Beevee was one of the Legendary Seven Knights, given how deadly and efficient he and Aizencup are in the field, but it's a bit shocking to know that Beevee decided to keep fighting, even killing some of his old comrades in arms, once the Unification of Eastald began. Aizencup is terrifying, even before we see him and Beevee literally walk to the most secure building in the land without any backup and almost kill the King during the ninth anniversary of the Unification that Beevee hates so much. As they managed to escape, we can only wonder what other plans Beevee has under his sleeve and when we'll see him and Aizencup again.

    2. Ash Clad

    [sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="THCA-60256" text="" url="" ]

Ash Clad is one of the very few fairies that could maybe pass for human if it wasn’t for her size. She looks like a two-stories-tall masked maiden wearing a tiara with horns. Her torso is made of magma and her skirt resembles ashes falling from her waist. As one of her legs resembles crystal, it’s easy to see that she is based on the Cinderella tale. Her touch can burn anything that comes into her reach and it’s one of the very few fairies that can come out on her own to defend her human. The one thing that makes Ash Clad so special is that she is the only fairy that we know of that joined voluntarily with a human without the need for surgery. When Marlya was in danger, in the middle of a fight between Red Hood and Blood Daughter, Ash Clad reached to her and joined with her to protect the young girl. Why she did that, is one of the biggest mysteries of the series.

    1. Blood Daughter

From the back, Blood Daughter could also pass as human if she wasn’t as tall as Ash Clad, as she could be mistaken for a long-haired woman wearing a twig dress. But unlike Ash Clad, whose mask is still a human face, Blood Daughter’s looks like a big bird beak that only highlights how inhuman the fairies can be even if they’re mimicking a human body. Blood Daughter is a competent fighter, but her real power only shows up whenever her human, Victoria Thorn, makes their enemies bleed: That’s when Blood Daughter turns into a very fine mist, enters her target’s body and makes them explode from the inside. This power makes Victoria and Blood Daughter a terrifying team: One little cut, no matter how small, means you are dead. Especially since neither woman nor fairy seems to have any mercy for anyone. You can try and survive against any other fairy on the list, but if you end up on Blood Daughter’s sight you are as good as dead.

    Final Thoughts

Fairies are very interesting creatures: After many years of being depicted as cute women with wings, popular culture has finally gone back to the original legends, where fairies could be anything from deceivingly cute to horrific dangerous nightmares. The fairies that could kill men on a whim and kidnapped children just because they could have made a comeback, and we’re lucky as that brings a lot of interesting stories and cool visuals. So we want to know: What is the coolest and more dangerous fairy in Fairy Gone in your opinion? Is it on our list, or did we miss them? Do you agree with our list? Please let us know in the comments below!
