Taimanin Asagi is one of those peculiar Hentai Anime that, should all sex be removed from it, would make an awesome Anime on its own. It has all you could need for a series; swords, fights, ninjas, demons, conspiracies, betrayal, strong characters and a plot. As a matter of fact, this Hentai Anime is the animated version of a videogame (worth playing)! Located in a world where the existence of demons is something, let’s say, common, Taimanin Asagi delivers us a story where we meet a former ninja, Igawa Asagi, ex-member of a ninja clan that is sworn to fight the demons that prey upon mankind. After leaving her killing days behind and trying to have a normal life with her boyfriend, Kyousuke Sawaki, Igawa Asagi is faced by her nemesis… Oboro… She cheated death, and came back, not in the form of pogs, but with a gang of hellish orcs. Now, if you are a fan of Taimanin Asagi and want to watch some more, then look at this list of awesome Hentai Anime we thought up. Some may not be exactly like it, but they belong to the genre of sweat, moaning and other bodily fluids. Furthermore, if you enjoy gangbangs, tentacles, large breasts, and slurping, then you won’t be disappointed.

1. Kangoku Senkan

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="DMM" url="https://www.dmm.co.jp/mono/pcgame/-/detail/=/cid=1765lpk10011/" ]

From beyond the stars comes Kangoku Senkan… also developed by Pixy! Adapted from a visual novel, this hentai series revolves around the two beautiful women; Commander Lieri Bishop (the lady with the soft voice and the long hair) and Major Naomi Evans (the woman with the adamant personality, short hair, and fiery eyes). The story begins with Commander Bishop and Major Evans aboard a spaceship where their only companions are a bunch (about a hundred or so) of men who act as their underlings -except for Donny Bogan, captain of the ship itself-, on their way to the Universal Federation to report the crimes of the Neo Terrors. Here’s the catch… Donny Bogan is a Neo Terror with a grudge against our beloved protagonists and he has a brainwashing machine ready to go… and a whole crew on his side. Kangoku Senkan mostly involves rape, gangbang, mental deterioration (that was the whole point of the brainwashing device), blowjobs, deepthroats, bondage and bukkake. Seriously, there’s a lot of semen in this series. With each chapter, we see how both, Naomi and Lieri, begin to lose their senses and personalities as Donny Bogan continues to erase their memories through his machine and turns them into sex-slaves that do his bidding and “comfort” his crew. The animation is sublime (consider this was done over a decade ago) and the way it was done and directed through each camera angle just adds to the feeling of perversion and reckless fornication, and the moaning from seiyuu Hiromi Hirata and Saki Nakajima just make it all the way more erotic.

2. Koukai Benjo: the Animation

It may not sound attractive at first, but don’t let that other name distract you; if you have seen Hentai Anime such as Dropout, then you know the term is more appealing than it sounds. Ready? Let’s get to it! We couldn’t make a list about gangbangs and rapes without a hentai anime about schoolgirls (it’s odd to make that instant association of concepts, right?), and so from Classroom 107 we at Honey’s Anime bring you Koukai Benjo. This series plays with the concept of “public bathroom” and turns it into “comfort station”, a monthly “job” a random student at this academy gets for the purpose of its students’ healthy education. The idea was to use a random student (technically, only women are used that way during the episodes) for this, but things get out of hand when the process is tricked, and the president of the student council becomes the next comfort station. Reika Kujou (president of the student council) and Takamine Chika are the protagonists and the comfort stations with the latter trying to liberate her friend and president. The series portrays rape, fellatio, BDSM, public humiliation, female domination (Ryou, Takamine Chika’s boyfriend, is also turned into somewhat of a comfort station, albeit unofficially and abused by women). By the way, even women rape women on Koukai Benjo, so no one’s safe. Throughout both episodes we get to witness and feel the mental deterioration of the characters, be it through the constant rape and torture the comfort stations suffer, or the change the users live as they get to abuse people without consequences. An awesome social experiment, right? So, we see how some enjoy the moaning and begging from the comfort stations as the abusers go into climax at the sight of their “rightful” power while breaking our protagonists’ wills and personalities, just like Taimanin Asagi.

3. Koutetsu no Majo Annerose

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="DMM" url="https://www.dmm.co.jp/mono/anime/-/detail/=/cid=zizd001" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="4" item2="Aired" content2="July, 2012 – November, 2014" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Set in some alternative world to Taimanin Asagi, Kotetsu no Majo Annerose follows the steps of Rikuro Tachibana, a guy who, thanks to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, ends up as the undead servant of Annerose Vajra, a detective-witch of high standing. When he dies, he resurrects just like that. In a society where humans, demons, and criminals work together, Annerose is somewhat of a force to be reckoned with, but it all goes downhill when Otonashi Miki, a pink-haired girl that appears on the first chapter, comes in with a mission to find his missing brother. Of course, someone stands against Annerose… Lee Mayfeng, a woman with a gang determined to see Annerose on her knees and squirm. Mayfeng ambushes Annerose and alongside her band they manage to get the upper hand and manage to take Annerose with them, subjecting her to drugs, aphrodisiacs, and rough sex at the hands of Mayfeng’s minions. Mind you, it’s not only Annerose who has sex; Annerose, Otonashi Miki, Rikuro Tachibana, Aishwarya Ray, Mittico Fleuretty, Lee Mayfeng… all of them get to moan, cum, slurp on penises, and bounce their beautiful breasts. Since it was made well after Taimanin Asagi, the animation is way cleaner and more polished, so the skin has a certain luster. There is no loss while watching Koutetsu no Majo Annerose. Just like in the previously mentioned hentai series, you can see how far depravity can go, and just how much can the mind resist before breaking.

4. Tsuma Netori: Ryoujoku Rinne

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="DMM" url="https://www.dmm.co.jp/mono/anime/-/detail/=/cid=h_826zizd015" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="1" item2="Aired" content2="March 2018" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Likely to be the most recent of the series on this list, Tsuma Netori: Ryoujoku Rinne has, sadly, no alternative tittle, and while technically consisting of two episodes, the second episode is mostly about Sunohara Ikumi’s sister, Sunohara Shizuka. This series is about a Physical Education teacher who, after being transferred to her husband’s school, decides to investigate her friend’s disappearance, only to find out she was taken (no, Liam Neeson doesn’t feature here) and raped. It is then when she is taken by the Headmaster’s minion to an undisclosed location, where she is stripped and defiled with an unrealistic tongue. Seriously. Then, she is confronted by the Headmaster, who seems to profit from the scheme of taking women from the school and turning them into mindless sex-slaves. It all goes downhill when Ikumi is coerced into submission after being shown pictures of her sister, Shizuka, and threatened with her also being taken. Reluctant, Ikumi is raped and so it begins an apparently long process of slavery and “brainwashing”, where her dignity and self-respect is turned upside down through constant mental and physical abuse. Her strong personality is cast aside as she is even gagged with her dirty underwear. She is then taken to a bidding where a multitude of men gets their way with her… and record her… and then have her husband watch the video. That ought to mess with one’s head. Belonging to the Netorare genre, we see fellatio, gangbang, double-penetrations, bondage, anal sex, and more. There is no missing this gorgeous piece of work as the animation is simply flawless and the plot is quite fresh

5. Kuroinu: Kedakaki Seijo wa Hakudaku ni Somaru

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="DMM" url="https://www.dmm.co.jp/mono/anime/-/detail/=/cid=h_589acjdl0002" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="6" item2="Aired" content2="January, 2012 – December, 2018" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

A long story… with a lot of females ravaged and turned into mindless sex-slaves. Mostly. The story circles around an army of men (sell-swords) who used to work for a nation ruled by several women, or mostly factions of it. Tired of their rule and lead by a ruthless man, the army marches alongside orcs to declare their independence against their former rulers. In order to make their statement clear… they resolve to have their way with the leaders of the nation they are fighting. This series has a wide variety of women abused and they are all brought to their knees, bending before the mercenary army’s leader, Volt. Magic and monsters appear in the chapters as the weaknesses of the women are exploited. We get to see how they are covered in bodily fluids… gallons of them, and some even forget their own personalities as they are taken to the border of mortal pleasure. Rape, gangbangs, paizuri, blowjobs, anal sex, elves, dark elves. This hentai series has almost everything! Additionally, the design and animation are delicious on most parts as you get to explore the past of some of the female victims.

6. Makai Kishi Ingrid

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="DMM" url="https://www.dmm.co.jp/mono/anime/-/detail/=/cid=h_007pxy10044" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "Episodes" content1="4" item2="Aired" content2="June, 2009 – August, 2010" post_id=""][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Episodios" content1="___content1___" item2="Emisión" content2="___content2___" post_id=""][/es]

Last but not least! Makai Kishi Ingrid is a classic! Set after the events on Taimanin Asagi, we visit Tokyo as the relationship between humans and demons grows ever stronger beyond what we had previously seen. The series follows the steps of Dark Night Ingrid, right-hand of Edwin Black, some sort of leader to the demons. We look at the decayed city as Ingrid walks through it, scaring demons in the process. But there is also another character… Sabato Kiryuu, another of Edwin Black’s underlings, who is tired of Ingrid’s position as his superior. He concocts a plan and quickly has more than Ingrid under his thumb… also, he gets an Anti-Demon Ninja in a cell and has her turned into a plaything for the demons. The series continues as these powerful women are subject to gangbangs, rape, ingesting semen daily, humiliation, physical alteration… and then we see different scenarios where people show their hatred for Yatsu Murasaki (Anti-Demon Ninja) and Ingrid by paying to abuse them. It is then where we see how much they have lost of themselves after they are turned into slaves and nymphomaniacs. If you enjoyed Taimanin Asagi, Makai Kishi Ingrid is something of a mandatory follow-up, and since it is set on the same universe, it is easy to follow the plot.

Taimanin Asagi is one of those Hentai Anime that just won’t die out, and so this list was made in the hope of keeping that spirit strong and pumping. If you liked Taimanin Asagi, then this list will be something useful for you. 10. NBA2K20

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="PLJS-36121" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Windows, Switch, PS4, Xbox One " item2="Publisher" content2="2K Sports" item3="Developer" content3="Visual Concepts" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 6, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]

Taking into account the major recent trades since the 2018-2019 season ended, not only are things about to spice up in the world of the real life NBA, maybe through the upcoming 20th edition to Visual Concept’s NBA2K series, we can get a preview to where things can go. With KD now going to the Nets and Anthony Davis going to the Lakers to team up with King James, maybe this game can give us a preview as to where this upcoming season can go (will The Lakers make the playoffs? Can The Warriors survive without KD?). Other than that, we’re positive that this upcoming release will retain what has made this series a hit since its debut on the Dreamcast. As we play this game, not only can we choose the best the present NBA has to offer, we can play vintage teams such as the 2000-2001 Lakers, the 1998-1999 Spurs, the 1993-1994 Rockets, and the best team besides the 1992 Dream Team, the 1995-1996 Bulls! So, if you want to have a prime Jordan and a prime LeBron go one-on-one, this game gives you that chance to do so (spoilers, Jordan will always own LeBron)! Or who’s the best big man of all time? Kareem Abdul Jabar? Or Hakeem Olajuwon? Oh yeah! Did we also mention that this is going to be the first time the series or any mainstream basketball game is going to feature the WNBA? So, if you want to try to play women’s basketball for the first time in such a mainstream hit, then NBA2K20 is the game to go to.

9. Catherine: Full Body

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="PLJM-16152" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="PlayStation 4" item2="Publisher" content2="Atlus" item3="Developer" content3="Atlus" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 3, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]

OK, so this is a remastered edition from one of Atlus’ hits earlier from the decade (and the game has been out in Japan since February), but hear us out on this one. According to Katsura Hashiro, the director, this is what he feels to be the more definitive version to the game as a reaction to fan feedback from around the world, and advances in technology. Not only that, there are to be new animated cutscenes to further expand the original story, and is going to introduce Rin (or the third Qatherine), a new character who adds a new dynamic to Vincent’s plight. Furthermore, the game was ported into the Persona 5 engine to further enhance its visuals and is going to introduce new puzzles and challenges. While there have been controversies around the difficulty to its original release back in 2011, Full Body is confirmed to have an easier mode for those that want to enjoy the story. Despite being from the same people who made Persona 5, don’t exactly expect a Persona 5 type game. Though they share very similar visuals and can be psychedelic with where the experiences can go, it uses elements of puzzle games as opposed to traditional J-RPGs. Other than that, if you love a mix of games and anime, Catherine is definitely it!

8. Ni No Kuni: Shiroki Seiya’s no Joou Remastered (Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="PLJM-16332" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="PS4" item2="Publisher" content2="Bandai Namco" item3="Developer" content3="Level 5" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 13, 2019 (US), September 20, 2019 (Japan, EU, Australia) " post_id="" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

If you could take Ghibli’s visual style and put it into a J-RPG, then Ni no Kuni is pretty much that game. Thanks to the success of its recent installments, its first game is getting a remaster for the PS4 (the Switch is a mere port of the original PS3 release)! Considering the original was a sleeper despite the rise of its past installments, now would be a great time to attract new players or for veterans to re-experience it! While the original PS3 release was a visual masterpiece, this new edition is going to further improve it. Other than new visuals, we can’t exactly confirm if there are going to be new gameplay features. But based on the trailers, it still looks to be the same game, but other than that, the original game was perfect the way it was and other than enhanced visuals, the game should be fine. And what’s even better? Just like Final Fantasy, you don’t need to be familiar with the other installments to enjoy this one since the stories are by no means connected despite taking place in the same world.

7. Dragon Quest XI: Sugi Saraishi Toki wo Motomete S (Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition )

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="Nintendo" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Switch" item2="Publisher" content2="Square Enix (Japan), Nintendo (US)" item3="Developer" content3="Square Enix" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 27, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]

Finally, Dragon Quest has come back to Nintendo! Though the original game came out a couple of years ago, the Switch is finally receiving its port as Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition. Not only is it a mere port of the original release, it’s going to feature new story content for players to check out! Meaning, each character has a story where they’re the protagonist! In addition, it’s also bringing back some features such as having the option in playing in 16-bit like in the old SNES days! Maybe you can enjoy two distinguishing playthroughs where in one instance, you play with modern graphics, and in another like it’s 1994. For those that want something old and new (and Toriyama), with fresh content to enjoy, then Dragon Quest XI for the Switch is it!

6. Zelda no Densetsu: Yume wo Miru Shima (The Legends of Zelda: Link’s Awakening)

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="HAC-P-AR3NA" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Switch" item2="Publisher" content2="Nintendo" item3="Developer" content3="Grezzo" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 20, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

This isn’t just merely a port, but a 100% remake to a Game Boy release from over 25 years ago! While it is getting the appropriate graphical updates, its presentation is still going to be the top-down perspective from the 8 and 16-bit era. Though it will retain this particular classic feature, it is reported that Link can jump over obstacles, and there will be instances of having side-scrolling features. In addition, players are also going to have the ability to equip more items, and the health bar will be updated to a maximum of 20 (with 14 being in the original Game Boy release). In other great news, you can also use your Amiibo figures that are reported to also enhance the dungeons. For example, if players use the Amiibo figure of Link from Link’s Awakening, then Shadow Link will appear! So if you want to see how a true remake of a classic is done for both new and familiar gamers, then this is the game to play!

[ad_middle]

5. Monster Hunter: Iceborne

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="PLJM-16446" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="PS4, Xbox One" item2="Publisher" content2="Capcom" item3="Developer" content3="Capcom" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 6, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]

While this isn’t entirely a game, but in modern gaming, we supposed we have to recognize Iceborne, an expansion, as something fresh and adds new content in both story and gameplay. Obviously judging by the title, it takes place in a world of ice with new monsters. It takes place after the actual World game, but of course you are now playing in a world covered in snow like it’s Winterfell in Game of Thrones (or anywhere north of the wall). Based on trailers provided so far, the creatures you combat appropriately fit the environment, most notably, the ice dragon. The graphics look stunning and truly sucks you into its world, and with the way the monsters are presented, it’ll have you excited or shaking in fear. The costumes look amazing and the gameplay is presentably still the same for veterans and rookies to enjoy. So if you want both style and substance, and spectacle and enjoyment, then this is for you!

4. Gears 5

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" bookwalker_id="" cdj_product_id="" text="Xbox" url="https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/gears-5" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="Xbox One, PC" item2="Publisher" content2="Xbox Game Studios" item3="Developer" content3="The Coalition " item4="Release Dates" content4="September 5, 2019 " post_id="" ][/en]
[es][information_general item1 = "Compañía" content1="___content1___" item2="Lanzamiento" content2="___content2___" item3="Géneros" content3="___content3___" item4="Plataforma" content4="___content4___" post_id="" ][/es]

At number 4, we have the upcoming installment of Gears of War, or Gears 5. Apparently, Aaron Greenberg, the head of Xbox marketing felt that it presented a cleaner image, and recognized that fans also referred to the series simply as “Gears.” Other than that, it is still continuing the story as you journey through this post-apocalyptic world. From what we can understand, the gameplay is still in tradition with the series as you have the options to play solo, co-op with your friends at each other’s houses, or online. Thankfully, there is cross-play between Xbox and PC! What also makes this upcoming release distinguishing compared to its predecessors is how wide and diverse the world is being promoted as. You can explore snow covered worlds, cross the deserts like you’re in Lawrence of Arabia, and go under the sea to scavenge for items. Though it still relies on pre-established lore, based on its new features on what you can explore, it should be enough for people who haven’t played the game to get into.

3. The Surge 2

[sourceLink asin="B07SFS4VF8" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="PS4, Xbox One, PC " item2="Publisher" content2="Focus Home Interactive" item3="Developer" content3="Deck 13 " item4="Release Dates" content4="September 24, 2019 " post_id="" ][/en]

This is the immediate sequel to the 2017 hit, as you try to survive in a dystopian world where the corporations have taken over to allow the rich to get richer and the poorer to kill amongst themselves. While it is a direct sequel, it has been reported that the combat system has immensely improved over its predecessor despite serving the same purpose (as in wearing out your opponent to exploit a weakness). Also, it is also said that the defense mechanics have also improved by implementing parrying and countering. This time, those who have played the game have noted that its very fast and borrows a lot from Dark Souls, also by the same team. Also take from Dark Souls is when your character dies, he starts from scratch but when you return to a spot where the character dies, you can reclaim his items. So if you enjoyed the first game, then you’re going to love this anymore. Even if you haven’t played the first game, you should be able to get into this without any prior familiarity regardless.

2. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="PCJS-81002" text="" url="" ]
[en][information_general item1 = "System" content1="PS4, Xbox One, PC" item2="Publisher" content2="Activision (US), Bungie (EU and Australia), Sony (Japan)" item3="Developer" content3="Bungie" item4="Release Dates" content4="September 17, 2019" post_id="" ][/en]

Shadowkeep is the fourth expansion pack to Destiny 2. In this edition, the Artifact system is once again implemented to not only maintain tradition, but to help the game evolve further as it introduces new uses to enhance the character’s natural abilities. In addition, players are going to have the ability to enhance the abilities of their amors as well as customizations. And if you play on multiple platforms it is reported to feature cross saving, meaning that your saves will work across ALL platforms meaning Xbox, PC, PlayStation and Stadia! Despite featuring cross saving, by no means does it mean that there are cross playing between lets say a PS4 player and an Xbox One player on the online games. Another new feature to make the game more stylistic is that Shadowkeep is introducing a “finishing move.” It’s not exactly like a fatality from Mortal Kombat, but just a melee strike to make the action more dramatic.

At number one, is the long anticipated third installment to 2K Games’ hit Borderlands series. While some have criticized that the game looks no different from its predecessor based on the initial trailer, we’d like to argue that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, familiarity is necessary so long time veterans can easily get into it and if new players want to try previous installments, it can also be the reverse. With that foundation, you can easily implement new features for better combat such as crouch-sliding and climbing up walls for better defense and offense. Apparently, the game is going to feature a good number of firearms that’ll put Metal Gear Solid 4’s to shame (and that selection was an NRA wet dream) with some rather crazy features (one rocket launcher fires burgers!). So if you love humor and lootbox chasing shooters, then Borderlands 3 is your jam!

Final Thoughts

Upon writing and reading this list, we can’t help but notice that all the games listed here are sequels, ports, and remasters. We say this with anticipation of people reacting like this is a negative thing, and we can understand the demand for something fresh. In most instances, sequels and remasters are a good thing. If the people want sequels, ports, and remasters, then they’re entitled to them if the originals sell well. We’re positive in the coming months with the likes of Death Stranding this November, we’re going to get those fresh titles and more. But going back to this list, it shows that many of these games have stood the test of time and continue to endure thanks to their respective dedicated audience. Though some titles are relatively still fresh, it shows that developers are willing to improve the experience not just for experienced players, but for new ones as well. Sometimes, remastering relatively newer games such as Catherine and Ni no Kuni reminds us that despite how gaming has evolved from the Odyssey to modern consoles, the industry is still in its infancy. Then with games such as NBA2K or sports simulators in general, it gives players the chance to be like their favorite athletes from Bill Russel, to Michael Jordan, to Kevin Durant thanks to that progress of technology allowing developers to represent those athletes and their uncanny abilities. And with long running franchises such as Dragon Quest, despite being popular in Japan for the longest time, its popularity is still new to international audiences and its 16-bit mode still shows that Square Enix has not forgotten its roots and wants to pay homage to them. Through these listed games, it reminds us how far gaming in relation with its hit franchises have evolved with the times.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Launch Trailer Pt. 1 - Life at the Academy - Nintendo Switch

Who it Caters to

When Nintendo announced Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for the Gamecube back in 2005, our heart fluttered with immense joy and elation, knowing that this title would provide a promising experience for tactical RPG fans. Not only did it go above and beyond with its enormous amount of strategic depth and willingness to push players beyond their mental limits with its insane difficulty, but it also did so gracefully and didn’t subtract from the overall gameplay. While some would certainly complain that parts of the game were incredibly taxing, mostly due to the game introducing new mechanics, it did such an incredible job of putting everything together to create a superb experience. Now we’re in 2019 and Fire Emblem: Three Houses is finally here and after spending a great deal of time with it we can definitely say that this is hands down, the best tactical RPG experience on the Nintendo Switch.

What to Expect

As you’d expect from any title from Intelligent Systems, Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes everything great from its past iterations and adds new layers of excitement with better visuals, an impactful narrative told by exceptionally talented seiyuu, and gameplay that really sells due to its diversity. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the first title that has reached home consoles since the release of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn back in 2007, so it has certainly been a long time coming. In Fire Emblem: Three Houses there are a lot of really great features to discover, such as the new ‘Lecture’ feature which puts you in charge of your class and allows you to develop a strong unit by helping your students study to level up. The new ‘Explore’ option now allows players to roam around the kingdom and build rapport with other members of your unit, or the other 2 houses that are situated within the same area. By taking part in various activities such as fishing events, fighting tournaments, and a plethora of others, players can develop even stronger bonds via social simulation with their favorite characters to create powerful chemistry when it comes time to battle. A much more robust turn-based system has been implemented to really allow players to think outside of the box and rally their troops to the best of their abilities. Furthermore, with the classic option available which permanently removes a character once they’ve fallen in battle, the stakes are much higher and so every decision you make is pivotal to your unit surviving. Luckily with the new rewind feature allows players to revise their strategies should they ever find themselves in a tight spot, giving players to an extra added dose of thrill that’s needed to keep you immersed for long periods of time.
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

Fire Emblem: Three Houses immediately dives straight into a cutscene where your main character and Jeralt go out of their way to save the three young nobles: Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude. Jeralt speaks of a dark past that has to do with Rhea, the Church’s Archbishop, reminding you to stay alert with her motives. You’re then given a role by Rhea herself after arriving at the Monastery to become a professor for one of the academy’s three houses: the Black Eagles, the Blue Lions, and the Gold Deer. From here your destiny is chosen and it’s up to you to make the decisions to ensure that Foldan suffers no more casualties to the ongoing war between the Empire, Kingdom, Church, and the Alliance.

Visuals

Intelligent Systems have always put a great amount of detail into their visuals in order to bring their game to life, and it’s no different with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The moment you load up the game you’re greeted with a spectacular anime opening that introduces you to the cast of characters and doing so spectacularly. The UI within the game itself is minimal which really helps to place more of the player’s attention towards actual gameplay, and not being too overly concerned with confusing details. Every character has been created with the utmost care and you can clearly see that when they’re in action during on-field missions or even during regular cutscenes where you’re interacting with one another. It’s really the subtle things that really help Fire Emblem: Three Houses stand out such as the special effects that happen after receiving a passing grade from certification, or the emotions that characters convey when speaking to them via Tea Parties. There’s just a lot to look at and it’s all so beautifully designed that you can’t keep your eyes off it all.

Sound, Music

While the gameplay speaks volumes on just how sensational this game is, Fire Emblem: Three Houses also delivers in its sound and music department. As we stated earlier in the review, the voice acting in this game is superb, not only for the Japanese side but the English dubbing as well. Intelligent Systems and Nintendo made sure to go out of their way to gather some of the world’s best to create an experience like no other. Every emotion can be felt while communicating with other members of your unit or just other students on Academy grounds, and the music is just so fitting as it compliments those very same emotions in a compelling manner. When each character speaks you definitely listen because that’s just how commanding they are, and it’s beautiful to play a game that not only delivers in its splendid tactical gameplay but keeps you engaged to build a relationship with your favorite characters. The battle music is quite charming in its own way, as it picks up in tempo when you’re about to unleash a powerful attack, then slows back down once you find yourself thinking over your next plan of action. It's this very mixture of emotional highs and lows that creating a striking balance of beauty and thrill that make playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses a rewarding experience.

Gameplay

Unlike other RPGs where you’re open to exploring much of the world and battle when you please, Fire Emblem: Three Houses sticks to three criteria: Explore, Lecture, and Battle. The other options such as rest and earning certifications are just added bonuses to help level up characters, but there really isn’t an option to really give players a lot of freedom to do as they please. This is because the game relies heavily on a calendar-based system where over the course of a month you’ll be able to engage in certain activities, but with certain limitations in place. One example is during your exploration, activities are limited to a certain number and so you can only do so much within that time frame before moving onto another day. Fortunately, as you level up your professor ranking you’ll unlock more activity slots so that you can spend more time doing things, but it’s still not as robust as you’d think. This isn’t to say that the game isn’t fun by means because this game delivers in a variety of other ways, but not being able to really choose what you want to do on certain days really hinders player freedom. It would’ve been great if the game allowed you to roam as you please, while still retaining the calendar-based system and give us the ability to participate in more battles. Leveling up in Fire Emblem: Three Houses isn’t like other RPG titles where you’re able to run around and grind in as many battles as your heart desires. To level up you’ll need to always ensure that you participate in lectures with your students, do side quests for others within the Academy, and also rest at times since it helps to build motivation for your unit. This is, of course, a positive aspect of the game since you’re not so heavily reliant on having to constantly battle in order to level up, and can actually spend time getting to know your unit by assessing their study habits and listening to their concerns. In a way it does feel quite organized because with lecturing, you know that over time you’ll be able to better determine who on your team will excel in what area, since the game does a splendid job of providing a list of job classes for each character. So if you wanted your entire team to be nothing but Mages or Pegasus Knights you could certainly do it, granted you have all of the necessary skills available. This versatility gives players the chance to really create a full-fledged team that feels organic, and since you can always switch your class at any time it does create a wonderful dynamic.
As we mentioned before, building rapport in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is really where you receive the most reward since building strong relationships with characters means that their ability to level up will increase exponentially, granting you special traits much faster such as optimizing powerful Gambits, or having powerful Batallians to destroy whoever stands in your way. It really feels like a game where social interaction benefits you more in the end than simply just trying to farm your way through like classic RPGs tend to do, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in our book. It really compliments the actual battles themselves because right after a hard fight, you can engage in simple activities like Tea Parties and really have a blast getting to know new characters over time.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses truly delivers on all fronts by giving players the option to teach, battle, and learn as they progress through the game. By being put in the position of a professor you get to learn the pros and cons of each character on your team, but also the people around you which becomes very important later on in the game’s story. Being able to charm others certainly helps as rewards become greater, but that doesn’t mean you should always aim for the right choice in dialogue. The game does an excellent job of keeping you guessing when it comes to the overall plot, and your decisions do in fact play a role in how things unfold so it’s good to test the waters a bit to see where the story takes you.

Honey's Pros:

  • Incredible visuals that really help to bring the story to life.
  • The new battle mechanics introduced into the game provide a lot more depth.
  • The new feature of social simulation really adds flavor to the game and encourages you to really spend more time with characters rather than just jumping straight into battle.
  • Hours of gameplay will keep you coming back.

Honey's Cons:

  • We do wish that the game allowed for more freedom of exploration during the days we had nothing to do. Give us a chance to roam the countryside or something and not just be situated in the Academy.
  • Things can feel a bit repetitive and could turn off a lot of players.

Honey's Final Verdict:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a really emotionally riveting title that will continue to touch our hearts for many more hours. We do hope you found our review to be insightful and that it provided enough information to help you develop a better purchase decision. In all honesty though, if you haven’t already purchased this game, we highly recommend doing so because there’s just so much to offer in this game, and with new expansions being developed as we speak this game will have an abundance of content for years to come. Wanna share your own thoughts with us? Leave us a comment! And for all things gaming, be sure to keep it locked right here on Honey’s Anime.

  • A very unique light novel has been picked up for a tv anime adaptation. Titled "Itai no wa Iya nano de, Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri ni Shitai to Omoimasu," it tells the story of a main character Kaede Honjo who is playing an MMO with her friend. Kaede hates being hurt, so she dumps all of her skill points into her character's Vitality stat. This means that she is basically unstoppable in defense, but her speed and magic stats are pitiful. However, this does not stop her and she sets out on an adventure!
  • The story was originally published by Yuumikan on the popular Shousetsuka ni Narou website where many an isekai light novel have been born in 2016. It was then picked up in 2017 of last year to be released in novel form. Finally, this year, the series was also turned into a manga.
  • The story isn't isekai but more along the lines of reality blended with fatnasy, so anime like Net-juu no Susume and Netoge no Yome are quite similar. Stay tuned for more details!

Caught up in a murderous prince’s horrible plan for his brothers, Nakaba tries desperately to find a future where both Akhil and Azhal come out alive but can see no such future. Burdened with her apparent choice of which brother to save and which to let die, Nakaba tries to keep her pain a secret. She, Loki, Azhal, and Akhil flee in the dead of night, but Batal’s men are not far behind.

[signSpoiler] [ad_top2 class="mt40"]

Discussion Time

There’s no surprise twist; one of the brothers dies. We watch Azhal get cut down as Nakaba holds Akhil back, and the only surprise is right before this, Azhal turns and says “It’s alright”. After the others escape, we are shown a flashback of Nakaba and Azhal talking alone. Nakaba admits there is no other way than either he or Akhil dying and says she will choose to save Akhil. Azhal is surprisingly calm and even supports Nakaba’s decision. He simply asks that she take care of Akhil in his stead. The arcana seems more and more like a roulette of horrible visions than a miracle as Akhil once called it. After everyone has made it onto the ship back to Senan, Nakaba is bombarded with people whose expectations she failed to meet. Akhil grabs her and screams in her face and little Rito begs her for answers as to how they’ll save his mother. It seems all hope is lost but then Nakaba remembers Caesar and his conviction is taking the throne of Belquat. With Caesar as her inspiration and Loki as her support, Nakaba steels herself to do what she must and become the ruler of Senan. In Belquat, Bellinus and Caesar talk briefly about what they must do and Bellinus tells Caesar that everything he does is for the sake of Caesar becoming king. In a private meeting with his mother, she reveals her plan to force Caesar and Louise, Cain’s widow, to marry. Caesar is horrified but Bellinus appears and says ‘For the sake of becoming king, it is a wonderful idea’. Caesar understands that they’re playing the long-game and sacrifices must be made. On their wedding day, neither Caesar nor Louise look very happy. We see Nakaba standing just outside the gathered crowd for a few moments before she walks out of a doorway and we realize we’re only seeing what the arcana is showing her. Nakaba’s hair has grown out, showing us that time has passed. As she comes back to reality, we see her new husband is Adel. It’s only after this shock we’re shown what happened in the three months since they left Lithuanel. Nakaba decided to reveal her power to the King of Senan in exchange for Rito’s mother’s freedom and marriage to Adel. She pretends that she simply wants to make a better and richer life for herself but her determined gaze makes others think she’s hiding something. Indeed, Nakaba doesn’t just want to live as a proper royal, she wants to make a path to the throne for herself. That way when Caesar reigns over Belquat and Nakaba rules Senan, they can bring peace to the land and finally be together again. Adel’s two friends talk about their mistrust of Adel’s wife as he goes to consummate his marriage with Nakaba. Of course, Nakaba wants none of it which does not deter Adel who has always loved to torment Nakaba but her crying over Caesar makes him give up. The next day, she is back to using her powers for the benefit of Senan and sees an avalanche that will destroy a village. Most of the people don’t appreciate her forced evacuation but Nakaba doesn’t care about being liked, only about saving as many people as possible. However, a young villager begs her to save his friend who is revealed to be a half-human half-Ajin child that had been left to die. Some of the older villagers apologize for not killing the child as per custom with such children and Nakaba is blinded by anger at their cruelty. She decides to ride off with Loki to find the missing girl before the avalanche hits, spurred on by the human boy who wants to save his friend.

Why You Should Read Reimei no Arcana (Dawn of the Arcana) Vol. 10

1. Nakaba and Caesar Finally Start Turning the Tables

Before this point, the couple was just hopelessly rebelling against a system they couldn’t beat. Now, they have grown from idealistic individuals avoiding the things they didn’t want to be part of to people willing to put their happiness on hold to create lasting change. Their faith in themselves and each other is what the two countries need in order to establish a better future and that’s just starting to seem possible.

[ad_middle class="mt40"]
Why You Should Skip Reimei no Arcana (Dawn of the Arcana) Vol. 10

1. Azhal’s Death is a Little Frustrating

We see over and over how Nakaba tried to change fate but the only two doors lead to Azhal being murdered or Akhil being murdered in the same place. However, this scene plays out in a confusing and seemingly avoidable manner. All Nakaba does to change who dies is hold Akhil back or not and if he does run to Azhal, only he dies. Why would Batal’s men not kill both princes as both are wanted dead? It was also odd that Nakaba didn’t force the group to go a different way or be more adamant about not stopping in the city but then again, who are we to question the workings of fate? Perhaps if there had been more clear instances of other options being too dangerous/impossible, it would have seemed more unavoidable.

Final Thoughts

[sourceLink asin="" asin_jp="" cdj_product_id="NEOBK-1525116" text="" url="" ]

Reimei no Arcana continues to show us the grim workings of economic relations and political marriages. Trust is a huge factor in this volume as everything is riding on Nakaba, Loki, Caesar, and Bellinus. With no way for everyone to communicate with each other, they simply have to believe everyone is doing everything they can and keep vying for the power to end senseless greed and violence.

Mighty Switch Force! Collection - Review

[ad_top1 class=""]
One Mighty Collection Has Arrived on the Scene

Game Info:

  • System: Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC
  • Publisher: WayForward
  • Developer: WayForward
  • Release Date: July 25, 2019

Who it Caters to

Several years ago, developer WayForward—known for games like Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and Ducktales: Remastered—released a very intriguing puzzle/action game. Known as Mighty Switch Force!, this Mega-Man-like title had players taking the role of a female police officer rescuing the folks of Planet Land from baddies who wished for no good. Releasing with some high accolades, it was inevitable that we’d get not only a sequel, a remaster and a co-op themed title but an eventual collection of all these awesome titles in one package. Mighty Switch Force! Collection is that package with all 4 games for the low price of $19.99! Does this law protecting collection hold up in the current gaming era? We find out as we review Mighty Switch Force! Collection down below! Keep reading to find out what we thought of this truly mighty gathering of games.

What to Expect

As stated above, Mighty Switch Force! Collection is 4 titles in one. Containing the first two games, the original remastered and Mighty Switch Force! Academy, this package deal is perfect for those who haven’t gotten to play all of the titles before or just want them all in a singular title. The first Mighty Switch Force! and its sequel Mighty Switch Force 2! have players take the role of Patricia Wagon as she takes on the role of a police officer and a firefighter in the sequel. Your job is to traverse dangerous environments plagued with dangers from enemy robots, hooligans and strange blocks that attempt to halt your progress. Using your blaster, you will deal justice to those who don’t abide by the law and to solve the various puzzles your trusty Siren Helmet will alter the world and help you progress. Similar to Mega-Man, you’ll need to run and gun to survivor and help bring the world of Planet Land back in order! The final game—Mighty Switch Force! Academy—will have you and some friends taking the role of trainees who will be pushed to the limits as they work together and against one another! 4 mighty games await you, now which one will you play first?
[ad_top2 class="mt40 mb40"]

Story

Mighty Switch Force! Collection follows our young cybernetically enhanced peacekeeper Patricia Wagon as she saves Planet Land. The first title has the Hooligan Sisters escaping from transit to prison and officer Wagon aims to bring them back! In the sequel, Wagon has taken a new job as a firefighter who needs to stop a strange series of fires that threaten the world! The last entry has trainee officers booting up and getting ready to learn what it means to be an officer of the law! Patricia Wagon has a tough job but she’s the officer best suited to save the planet from some serious trouble!

Gameplay

Now, in case you somehow slept on the Mighty Switch Force! series—which you probably aren’t alone—we here at Honey’s Anime will tell you what to expect from each game in the Mighty Switch Force! Collection. The first title—and remaster—dubbed Mighty Switch Force! plays like Mega-Man games of old. Players control Patricia Wagon armed with a blaster and reality altering helmet. The main point of the original and remaster is to find hooligan sisters scattered around the map all while solving puzzles that involve blocks that must be switched using the helmet. Switching between the blocks can give players platforms to use but equally can kill you if you switch the platforms while touching them or on them. Aside from that you’ll blast various baddies and survive from level to level. At the end, you’ll face a big bad boss and need to use your skills learned to win and see those glorious ending credits! Mighty Switch Force! and its remaster are fun and simple titles that will never make you rage but equally give you a challenge. The sequel—Mighty Switch Force! 2—is where things get a bit different but with the keywords “bit different”. Again, you’re controlling Patricia, but now, you’re armed with a water gun and must douse out flames to save civilians scattered across the stages. The same gameplay theme of altering blocks and surviving against baddies is relevant in Mighty Switch Force! 2 which might make playing both games back to back a bit repetitive but we still love the action in the sequel. The real change in gameplay comes not from the sequel though. The last title—the fourth game by definition—is where Mighty Switch Force! Collection gives players co-op and a bit of variety for this package. Mighty Switch Force! Academy gives players the chance to become new recruits and fight off baddies in a controlled series of challenges. While the entire title can be played solo, the true fun comes in playing with up to 4 friends in a co-op/multiplayer experience. Think of Mega-Man meets Super Mario Bros. You have a zoomed-out perspective and you’re trying to beat baddies, get points and survive various challenges that appear in each level. While we still prefer the original two games, Mighty Switch Force! Academy offers a good time for those who want to get some couch co-op in or even go online. Now visually, each of the four games within Mighty Switch Force! Collection haven’t changed much. The original Mighty Switch Force! looks dated but the remastered Hyper Edition gives the title a new age look that is much appreciated. We do wonder if the original Mighty Switch Force! was needed when this package contains Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition but we can assume this is to give players—both fans and newcomers—a complete set. Just a word of warning to fans, play these games apart from one another as playing all of them back to back will show the weakness of Mighty Switch Force! Collection…repetition. Even back when the originals released, Mighty Switch Force! and its sequel suffered from feeling like pallet swaps. That doesn’t make any of the games feel weaker as a whole but equally can give Mighty Switch Force! Collection a boring feel when you go from one title to another too quickly.
[ad_middle class="mt40 mb40"]

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

The Mighty Switch Force! Collection is a bundle you’d be silly to ignore. While technically Mighty Switch Force! Collection is only three games—since one of them is a remaster of the original—you still can’t deny that you’re getting three awesome side scrollers for an amazing price tag. Each game still suffers from some repetitive gameplay and we do wish that we had a proper new entry in the series—aside from Mighty Switch Force! Academy—but there’s little else negative to say about this huge collection of titles. Mighty Switch Force! Collection is great for those who have played the original 4 games and especially for those who somehow missed these awesome titles by WayForward games.

Honey's Pros:

  • 4 Games (technically 3) in a low budget price tag
  • Easy to switch between all of the games
  • Still a lot of fun with some challenging but fun levels/puzzles

Honey's Cons:

  • Most of Mighty Switch Force! Collection can become repetitive as most titles don’t differ from one another

Honey's Final Verdict:

Mighty Switch Force! Collection might be games that released a while back but these are exciting games that blend action and puzzle gameplay pretty darn well. While we personally think the remastered Mighty Switch Force! should have been the only original game within this collection—why even have the very first version and the remaster together—it still makes for a complete experience which many fans will appreciate. Are you going to pick up Mighty Switch Force! Collection for the Xbox One or another console it released on? Comment below to let us know! To say the least, Fairy Gone has a good sense of scale in its worldbuilding. Eastald truly feels like it bore the War of Unification’s weight. There’s a gap of nine years between Zesskia’s victory and Marlya’s fateful encounter in the mafia auction house, but the new government is still playing catch up with organized crime, instability, and the unfortunate living weapons that survived the conflict. This backdrop, as well as some neat takes on technology and creatures, serves as an interesting stage for Fairy Gone’s veritable gamut of flavored beats from cute, to gruesome, to heart-wrenching. The rate at which the atmosphere shifts could be likened to the rapid succession of highs and lows history texts use to describe the interwar period. Of course, you won’t find any strider-drawn carriages or automatons made partially of flesh in any of our drab records, but the sentiment sticks. On the more personal side, we have character arcs dominated by their adaptation to a post-war lifestyle and the friction between lost friends that run across each other fighting for different sides. If you found yourself enraptured by Fairy Gone’s dark supernatural themes, conspiracy plot, and focus on the consequences of abnormal powers, we at Honey’s Anime may have a few suggestions for the next juicy title you should put on your plate.

Fairies, yokai, angels; all of the creatures of myth and legend that you learned of and fantasized about as a child are as real the air we breathe and walk among us ignorant humans. Those that are privy to their existence have come to coin a simple blanket term to describe them: “Another”. Their existence, while a spectacle to behold and study is far from harmless, they don’t live parallel to us, but adjacent. Not only are normal people unable to see them unassisted, but spats between Anothers tend to cause collateral damage. It falls to the Nighttime Regional Relations Department to keep the populace blissfully unaware while doing their best to deal with them. Miyako Arata discovers this truth in the span of one night upon his induction to Shinjuku’s branch of the department where he learns that he has the rare and possibly unique ability to communicate with Anothers. Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin is softer than Fairy Gone as far as violence and dark themes go, but they both follow newcomers with a strange and powerful affinity for the occult. It also has a well developed, organic world that doesn’t just pay lip-service to its supernatural elements. While the anime has its fair share of fights, the focus is more on mediation and living alongside Anothers than the primarily paramilitary duties of Dorothea.

Translated, the name given to the titular subspecies comes out as “demi-human”. It’s unknown what members of this divergence from the common cloth owe their status to, but they’re granted a host of powers, the greatest of which being the ability to simply not die when they’re killed. This isn’t as sweet a deal as it sounds, however; government entities are very aware of the Aijin and literally want several pieces of them. In Japan, they’re stripped of all human rights, making them valuable subjects to be used and reused for invasive experimentation without something as trivial as ethics getting in the way of progress. So when Kei Nagai, a young prodigy of a medical student, walks away from a fatal car accident, his first move is to panic. Like Fairy Gone, Aijin is quick to establish sympathetic characters before shoving them into increasingly grim scenes. Interpersonal relationships and character development run the story as Kei struggles with his new place in a world that hates him for what he is, and learns that real friends are both precious and hard to come by.

With the war lost and Stalin’s forces knocking on Berlin’s gates, officers of the Third Reich attempt to bring about the end of everything in a final act of spite. The Order of the 13 Lances are known to harbor strength beyond measure and a thirst for blood to match, making a ritual to herald their return fit the bill perfectly. For the following six decades, however, nothing seems to happen. Enter Ren Fujii, a present-day ordinary high school student who gets hospitalized by his former best friend in the first scene we meet him in. Upon his release, he wants nothing more than to put things behind him and live out a peaceful life devoid of surprises. It’s too bad that the Order of the 13 Lances decides that is the best time to show up and Ren gains powers that draw their interest. Dies Irae is a crowdfunded anime adaptation of the visual novel written by Takashi Masada that was widely popular in Japan. Due to reductions in scope and liberties taken with the plot, it may be a bit difficult for newcomers to understand. If you can catch up through research, acquiring the localized version of the source material, or don’t mind the missing information, the anime offers a supernatural story that’s as bizarre as it is violent.

4. Sirius the Jaeger

In the years preceding the Second World War, vampires have become a plague upon the streets of Tokyo. To protect the citizenry, they call in the Jaegers, experts who specialize in putting these undead horrors into the grave for good. Yuily, a werewolf and possibly the last of his kind, counts among the most talented of their members. While his involvement certainly benefits the human population, Yuily acts mostly out of self-interest, as the bloodsuckers are the ones responsible for the genocide of his kin. Sirius the Jaeger was crafted by P.A Works, the same studio behind Cannan and Another. Viewers interested in the gruesome sights and dark themes seen in those titles won’t be disappointed. The Jaegers work to eliminate vampires in much the same way Dorothea is stacked with the duty of neutralizing fairy related threats. Yuily’s quest for revenge and his relationship with his mentor, Willard allows the story to play with the concept of guilt and a life blinded by a single bloody goal.

When he was just a child, Raki’s village was ravaged by youma. The vile shape-shifting beings tore his family apart in front of him and would have added his body to the pile if not for the timely intervention of Clare. As a Claymore, she’s a warrior with grafted youma organs sent to ensure that the creatures aren't allowed to prey upon humanity uncontested. Shunned by the survivors of his village and left with nowhere else to go, Raki chases the tail of Clare’s cape, hoping to return the favor somehow. Of the rest of the entries on this list, Claymore’s biologically engineered fighters bear the closest resemblance to Fairy Soldiers and have a much worse run of things. Being part youma goes beyond merely acquiring the entities’ strength and a neat pair of government shackles, though. Once someone becomes a Claymore, their time is limited by more than occupational hazards. If you’ve yet to see Claymore and enjoyed Fairy Gone’s tale of monstrous creatures and super soldiers derived from them, you’ve found yourself a legitimate reason to experience one of the classics

Three years ago, humanity managed to hold back an invasion by eldritch horrors known as Disas. Though young and mentally unprepared for war, the power and sacrifice of magical girls is the reason civilization stands today. Asuka Ootori was one of the best to survive the affair and she wants no more than to reclaim the childhood it took from her. Her dreams simply weren't meant to be, though. A special operations unit intent on combating the recent surge of magical terrorism brings Asuka back into the saddle. But because it means protecting her new friends, and possibly because it's the only life she ever knew, Asuka takes up arms again with her own brand of stoicism. Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka places heavy focus on the desperate search for healthy adjustment after fighting at the forefront of a long and bloody conflict, a subject that Fairy Gone touches on. Fans of Free Underbar’s character arc and background may find Asuka’s story to be a treat.

Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji (The Demon Prince of Momochi House) Vol. 10 Introduction

Momochi House is abuzz with news of Himari and Aoi confirming their feelings for each other. The ayakashi are quite lively and eager to probe into the young couple’s life. Aoi seems to be completely unfazed, unlike the very bashful Himari, until an uninvited guest appears and announces he will make Himari his wife! With both Himari and the title of the Nue on the line, Aoi will take on the brazen ayakashi with everything he’s got!

Discussion Time

The house has become quite lively with ayakashi treating Himari and Aoi’s news as if it concerned them. Only Ise seems to be upset, disapproving of ‘someone like Himari’ living with his Aoi in such a relationship. Himari tries to clear her head and explore the house on her own, but Aoi joins her. His presence is both comforting yet distracting to her in light of their new relationship but after a while, she finds herself having fun and relaxing. Himari worries, though, that she’s not making any progress on finding information to free Aoi and it seems that Aoi may be trying to keep things fun instead of focusing on the task at hand. Himari knows Aoi has spent far longer than her looking through Momochi House so she determines she must look in places that a boy would overlook. Her first stop is a huge kimono wardrobe where she meets a friendly ayakashi who collects beautiful clothes. All we can see is an arm with slender, bendy fingers that moves around and changes position a lot for something we can see so little of. This ayakashi tells Himari more about the role of the Nue and how he should be creating more rooms but is not. She says Momochi House itself is alive and is under the care of the Nue and there have been several Nue before Aoi. Himari is grateful to learn so much from such a knowledgeable ayakashi but then it tries to trap Himari in a large box to steal her beautiful clothing! Just in time, The Guardian of the Gate Himari met while searching for Aoi’s past appears and traps the ayakashi known as Hand of the Kimono in her own box. He tries to tell Himari about his upset stomach from eating the light of the lantern hairpin but Himari cannot get past the tiny gate he has with him. Throughout the manga, people have made a few funny faces but this one takes the cake with The Guardian pulling a silly-looking gate out of his shirt and Himari’s eyes wide and white. Even more unnerving, he says that he wants to marry Himari just as Aoi walks up. The Guardian explains that by marrying Himari and taking the Momochi name, he would become the Omamori-sama and Aoi would be free from his duties. This makes Himari reconsider her initial disgust but Aoi surprises her when he says he has no intention of giving up either Himari OR his role as the Nue. The Guardian decides to trap Himari in an Iro Oni Dama ayakashi and forces Aoi to play a ‘game’ to see who can rescue Himari first. Ayakashi sure love their games. Thankfully, Aoi wins and forces the rowdy Guardian whose name is Hakka to become his shikigami. The Nue immediately plunges his fingers down Shuten Douji’s throat and threatens him not to get close to Himari. Aoi transforms back and sends Hakka through multiple ceilings just to teach him a lesson while assuring Himari everything is fine. But something neither of them expected crawls out of one of the far off Momochi rooms and has it out for the Nue. In the bonus chapter, Ise’s past as a member of the noble orangutan tribe is explored. Having been cursed by his tribe for reckless behavior, Ise cannot use his powers in the human realm so he spends his days watching humans via a magic pond. One day, he meets a weak ayakashi that instantly takes to Ise and thinks he’s a cool rebel. They go down to the human world together so the little guy can become friends with a human girl he likes, but they are attacked by a powerful ayakashi. Ise sacrifices himself to save his friend but Aoi offers to save him. The little ayakashi uses the last of his power to make it back to Ise and ask Aoi to take care of his friend before passing on.

1. The Waiting is Over but the Story is Not

We were so anxious to see Himari and Aoi finally kiss and admit their feelings and it’s great to just see them be together finally. One part of the drama feels at least settled, but there’s still so much more to explore in Momochi House. Himari has yet to figure out how to free Aoi or become a proper landlady to the house. As always, new and different ayakashi threaten our lovely couple and we get to learn more about the ayakashi world as the series goes on.

Why You Should Skip Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji (The Demon Prince of Momochi House) Vol. 10

1. The Battle with Hakka is Pretty Drawn Out

Hakka and Aoi fighting was the most action-packed scene and the only other thing of importance was the Hand of the Kimono. Both characters had some interesting things to say about the Omamori-sama but Hakka and Aoi’s fight felt more like jealous teens throwing fists than a serious battle between ayakashi and lacked atmosphere. That is until the Nue threatened to kill Hakka with his fingers in Hakka’s throat.

Final Thoughts

Even after the momentous occasions of Aoi and Himari’s kiss and Aoi accepting his past, there’s still so much to learn and discover which is only HINTED at in volume 10. In the last volume, Kasha said that Aoi was only pretending to feel human emotions but his violence towards Hakka suggests he very much feels normal emotions. His new confidence with Himari is more like how the Nue acts around her though, so we’re not sure what that means for the future!

Witcheye | App Store & Google Play

[en]What You Need to Know: [/en][es]Lo que necesitas saber: [/es]

  • Devolver Digital and developer Moon Kid today announce Witcheye, an eye-popping (literally tho) retro-flavored platform adventure heading to Android and iOS devices Aug. 15. A very limited count of iOS pre-release codes are also available, so please get in touch if you’d like to check this one out prior to launch.
  • Witcheye uses a smartly crafted layout where players swipe to move and tap to stop while bouncing off of enemies and dodging hazards in six vibrant worlds. One minor detail in all of this – players are guiding a mild-mannered witch’s eyeball as it chases after a smarmy knight and wizard who’ve made off with her spell ingredients.
  • Witcheye’s adventure spans 50+ levels, each containing distinct elements between tricky new enemies, mysterious new environments, and puzzling new secrets. These elements are brought to life with colorful, clean pixel art and a lively, head-bobbing original soundtrack. Designer Peter Malamud Smith was the co-creator (with Charlie Hoey) of the viral hit The Great Gatsby For NES, and creator of the well-received mobile action puzzlers Satellina and Satellina Zero.
